Chapter 2
There weren't too many people that Fitz loathed in his life. He was usually a carefree type of guy. He never let things stress him out, never let life get to him. He lived day to day, not getting angry. Growing up without a mother, Fitz felt an absence of a woman's influence in his life. He respected girls, and always would.
His father always had men over the house. They talked politics and power. Fitz didn't care, but he also didn't like it. He never was into power, wanting to be just what he set out for. When his father sent him to Prep School in Jersey, Fitz took it as a challenge.
The school did have the best NAVY ROTC program. The sports programs were top notch. The east coast was so different than the west coast, but Fitz welcomed the change in scenery. His freshman year he met Simon Guthrie. After five minutes in Simon's presence, Fitz loathed him.
East coast money, development money. Simon's father gentrified neighborhoods. Simon's family was known from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania taking over cities with luxury condos and knocking out public housing. If there is one thing Fitz believed in, it was the underdog. This country was built on diversity. The Native Americans, the slaves, and the allies, and that's what Fitz brought with him.
Simon was as much a stuck up as anyone he met, and he soon became Fitz's biggest rival at the Prep school. Simon had everything Fitz had, plus one, he was an east coast guy, so Fitz was playing catch up. Simon made it clear freshman year who would run the school the next four years, and he knew his fiercest competitor would be Fitz.
One month into their freshman year, Fitz's friends and Simon's friends sat down. The were going to draw the line. It is no shock, in high school, hazing runs rampant, and Prep was no different. Fitz and Simon sat with a pencil and paper in front of them. They had a list of things needed to be done before senior year was over.
They were both interested in the ROTC, and the one with the highest rank come senior year had to complete the hazing list.
The rules were the list had to completed in their own handwriting. As each item was proven and completed, it would be crossed off. They agreed on five items. In front of both their squad of followers, Simon and Fitz shook on it, and put the list aside until senior year. Until then, they would be bitter rivals, competing on every level at Prep.
Fitz avoided Simon at all costs. He didn't want anything to get in his way. But because Fitz was so carefree, by the time senior year rolled around, Simon had one up on him. It was a slight up, but one up nonetheless, and Fitz was reminded of the list he wrote out.
Not completing the list, Simon held Fitz's ROTC evaluation in his hands, and Top Gun training would be moot. The list wasn't bad, but he had to do it, and Fitz never backed down from a challenge.
"My man, my man my man. How you doing Fitz and trusted turd kick Mason. It's the first day of senior year, you ready to cross off some items. Oh, and take a look at this." Simon held his insignia up. He was Lt. Commander and Fitz was Commander, by a very slim margin. "You have yours handy?"
"Go to hell Simon. The list will be completed. In the meantime, stay out of my face."
"Hey Fitz." The guys all turned around and saw Melody.
Simon laughed. "Oh, she doesn't count for number five, not by a longshot, so don't even think about it. In fact, that should be interesting, not many do that aren't freshman. See you California girl. "He ruffled Fitz's curls and Fitz slapped his hand away.
"What the fuck are you going to do Fitz?" Mason had been at the original meeting of the list and now he was worried for his buddy.
"Don't worry, I already completed number 1."
"Shut up, you graffitied school grounds, where?"
Fitz held up a picture of the concrete stairwell under the cafeteria. Mason cracked up laughing. "Yo Fitz, that's brilliant."
To the naked eye it just looked like street art, but if you looked close enough, you could see the company logo belonging to Simon's family. "Yeah, he's a fuck messing with the wrong guy. Let's go."
Olivia was enjoying her junior year despite the ache in her heart. She was finally healthy, and she had become friends with Mo. Mo was head groundskeeper of the softball field and took care of the batting cages. Liv would ask him for extra time to practice and Mo would do it on the down low.
It was just the therapy Liv needed and because of the extra practice there were nights when her father would come and pick her up. The change in schedule and routine didn't bother her much. In fact, it gave her time to hang out in Quinn's room more and try to keep her mind off Fitz.
"So, there is really no one Liv, not one guy you're interested in, I find that impossible, I mean the boys here are drooling over you, you see the way they look at you." Quinn and Liv had a Physics exam in the morning, and they were doing some last minute studying before her father came to get her.
"No, Quinn, not really. I want to focus on staying healthy and get my body back into shape for softball. These next two years will determine if I can get that scholarship."
"What college would suit you most Liv?"
"I want Alabama. I like the softball program, the head and assistant coaches have been in contact with my father, and the School of Law is just up my alley. If I had a first choice it would be them, but it's still a longshot."
"Not for the great Olivia Pope, you got this girl, you know that. Besides working here at the library, you're buried in books all day, touch up on all the legal ones."
Liv laughed. Quinn could always do that, make her laugh, and she felt she was betraying her as a friend not telling her about Fitz. She just didn't know how to explain it and she didn't want anyone saying it was just a crush or trying to push her on to him. Quinn wouldn't hesitate to try to get her to meet him and that's the last thing Olivia wanted.
"Oh shit, don't look now, trouble in the house."
Liv crossed her eyebrows and turned. She heard Ms. Dolson again reprimanding Fitz. "Out, out, out, why do you insist on coming back here, Fitzgerald. If you don't leave immediately, I am calling security."
"Why do you say he's trouble?"
"Guy is always running around the campus here, like really, put your dick in your pants and get over to the boy's side. Besides Melody swoons over him, it's her prince. Whatever." Quinn rolled her eyes. "He's no good, I mean just look at the hard time he's giving your boss. I bet he is an asshole to all women."
Liv wasn't going to defend him or agree with Quinn, she didn't want Quinn to read anything into her thoughts. Liv just shrugged and kept watching the scene unfold.
"Ms. Dolson, you are the most beautiful woman on this campus, I just come to get a glimpse of you." Mason was with Fitz and the laughter overtook the quiet of the library.
Ms. Dolson started to dial the phone. Fitz looked around quickly. Liv turned her head immediately, but she thinks he saw her. "Ok, ok, I am out of here. Don't twist your pantyhose."
He patted Mason on the back and headed towards the door. He did see Olivia and it was the first time he had seen her since she walked away that day. He needed to get rid of Mason and wait for her somehow. He had to catch her when she was leaving. He would wait for hours if he had to.
Quinn and Liv had a few more minutes of studying then Quinn was going to meet up with Charlie. It was her latest crush, and she wanted some alone time in her room before her roommate got back.
"You just better be careful Quinn; you know the consequences if a guy is found in your room. The same rules apply if you're found in his room."
"No worries, Charlie is a spy in training, he knows not to get caught. I'll see you tomorrow, say hi to your dad for me."
Liv stayed a few more minutes. She asked Ms. Dolson if there was anything she needed, and there wasn't. She looked forward to seeing Liv tomorrow. Liv headed towards the door hoping Fitz was long gone, but not really.
She circled the corner of the building towards the parking lot, and she felt a hand on her wrist. At first she got scared, very scared, and she started to fidget out of the grasp. "Calm down, I am not going to hurt you."
Fitz let go of her wrist and Liv found herself staring at his eyes. He looked at her. "Hi" he said.
"Hi." She barely got the word out, but it came out. "You're Fitz Grant." Liv tried to stop the words. She sounded as if he didn't know his own name. She couldn't wait for his comeback; it would be humiliating.
"Yes, I am, and it makes me happy you know that. You are?"
Liv looked down. "Olivia," she brought her head back up, "Pope."
"Nice to meet you Olivia Pope. You play softball, right? How is your foot?"
She looked confusingly at him but remembered he must have seen the boot on her that day with Melody. She lifted her right foot, "actually it was my ankle. It's good now, should be ready to start the season in a few weeks." She could feel his stare and her body was trembling, she had to find a way to stop it before he noticed it.
"So, you commute?"
"Yeah," she said cautiously, how did he know. "But not tonight, my dad is on his way to pick me up. I have been staying later to practice running on the field and taking batting practice."
"Wow, how do you manage that, the field is off limits I thought."
"I know people." She shrugged and smiled.
"Wow, you have a beautiful smile." Fitz stopped. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable.
She blushed, "Thank you. I am going to the batting cages tomorrow, want to join me?"
She couldn't believe she just said that, but she did. Oh my God, Olivia, what is wrong with you? Of course, he isn't going to join you.
"Supposed to be cold tomorrow. You sure?"
"Oh yeah, it doesn't bother me, besides with the running and the workout I don't feel much of the cold." Funny she should say that because her body was still trembling. She heard a car approach the parking lot.
"That would be my dad." She looked up at him and she could smell him, he was so close and she couldn't breathe. She dreamed of a moment like this.
"Then I will see you tomorrow at the batting cages." He smiled, a small little smirk that was the cutest thing she had ever seen.
Before the car got into sight, she pulled his head down, feeling his soft curls and planted a small kiss on his lips. She didn't even look at him before she took off in the direction of the car.
She jumped in the car and was finally able to breathe. "Hi dad. How was the drive.?"
"Olivia, you ok, careful running like that with your ankle. The drive was fine, studying go alright."
"Yeah, just fine." The car began to move and all she felt was his curls and his lips. She smiled out the window to herself and covered her face. "What did I just do?"
Fitz stood frozen as he watched the car drive away. He put his hands to his lips, trying to hold the feeling there. He never had a kiss shock him like that. It didn't shock him that she kissed him, he's been kissed before, it shocked him in the sense that his body wanted more of her. He could still smell the hint of vanilla off her skin as he walked away from the library, not yet taking a breath since the kiss.
Present Day
Fitz had been stationed the past six months at the Naval Air Engineering Station in New Jersey. Fitz had turned in his Top Gun wings after four years of nonstop flying and tours overseas. He was now a top commanding officer and Engineer on the base in NJ.
He never married, dated seriously briefly having one girlfriend over in Germany for six months. He never felt the fullness Olivia had made him feel and he wasn't going to pretend with another woman.
He thought of her often. After he graduated, he kept track of her softball career, but then it became too hard with all his training and wartime flying. He never forgot the weekend they spent together, and his heart ached every time he played the scene of her walking out on him on Valentine's Day.
Because of the significance of that day, Fitz never referred to it as Valentine's Day. He always referred to it as the 14th of February. He couldn't blame her for doing it, for walking away and never looking back, he just never expected he wouldn't see her again.
It's been ten long years and not a day goes by where he doesn't feel her wrapped in his arms. He can still taste her skin, remembers the smoothness of it, and for that moment in time, they had a lifetime together. Fitz was not a praying man, but he hoped with every day that went by he would one day stumble upon Olivia Pope again.
Ten Years Ago
Fitz approached the batting cages hearing cling after cling after cling. It was constant contact and he stopped in awe to watch her swing at the ball. My goodness she was talented. She had the perfect swing and each time she connected, the ball was sent on a line drive.
She was determined, not even looking up to see him approaching. She began to grunt after about fifty swings, and she took a breath. She saw movement and noticed him watching her.
"Hi" she said, stealing his line.
"Hi back" that was some impressive hitting.
"Thank you. I am trying to get my form back. You're late, I've been here for almost an hour."
"Yeah, I am sorry, we had an emergency ROTC meeting, that's why I am in my NAVY sweatshirt."
"Interested in the military?" She had exited the batting cage, and walked towards him. They sat on a small hill overlooking the field.
"Yeah, I want to be Top Gun, fly the badass planes."
"Good for you. What happens when you're not flying?"
"Engineer. I want to design, teach how to design, and built the next generation of Naval aviation."
"Wow." A small breeze whisked through the air and with the cold, it gave the Liv the chills unexpectedly.
He pulled off his sweatshirt without hesitation and put it over her. "Here, told you it would be cold."
"Oh, no need, I have a sweatshirt in my bag." She went to pull it off.
"No it's fine, keep it for now."
"Ok."
"It's quiet here. Usually it's this quiet only on the weekends. Most of the residents go home on the weekends, it's like a ghost town here. You doing anything this weekend?"
Liv didn't answer. She didn't realize she would be asked a question like that from him. He looked at her, waiting.
"Hello?"
"Huh, oh I'm sorry. No, nothing much planned."
"Would you like to spend the weekend on campus?"
"umm, I don't know" Liv shook her head. "Where would I stay?"
"You could stay in my room, it happens all the time anyone stays anywhere."
"Getting caught can get me kicked out of the school Fitz, I don't know." She really didn't want to say no. She wanted to spend every damn minute of the weekend with him.
"Well, it's Valentine's Day on Sunday, you going to that dance at the meeting hall?"
"No, I have no intentions of going to a dance."
"Well, if you change your mind, I would be happy to go with you."
Liv turned and looked at him surprised. "Fitz" She could only whisper.
"Anyway," he shrugged, what about Friday night, come over. We can watch some movies, just hang out in my dorm room, and have a pizza. You can sleep on the bed, I can sleep on the floor. I'd like to spend a little time with you."
Liv could hardly swallow. She felt like she was living one of her dreams she's had the past six months. "I, umm, let me see what I can do. Can I let you know tomorrow?"
"Sure. Do you have a piece of paper and pencil?"
Liv reached over for her bag. She pulled out one of her notebooks and handed it to him with a pencil. He opened to the back page. She watched him write something down and hand the notebook back. They heard a car once again coming onto the campus.
"That's my dad again." She put the notebook and pencil back into the bag. She went to take the sweatshirt off again, but Fitz was already standing. She stood up also, and he held her hands to stop.
"Seriously, Livvie, keep it, ok."
"Livvie?"
"Yeah, Livvie." He put both hands on either one of her cheeks and kissed her softly as he scooted away into the darkness.
Liv walked past the training house and pounded on the door, "Mo, I'm done, you can turn off the lights, thank you, I'll see you Monday."
This time Liv walked to the car, just feeling his touch on her face, his lips on hers. She took the shirt off so her father wouldn't see it and quickly switched to hers before putting his in her bag. She couldn't feel her feet on the ground, she was floating on cloud nine right now.
When she got home, she opened her notebook. There was his handwriting. Hey Livvie, looking forward to this weekend. Here's my cell number, call anytime. It was signed with a small heart and Fitz. Liv stripped to bare chest and put the sweatshirt on. She was sleeping in it tonight, no doubt about it.
"So will you, come on Quinn, don't make me beg."
"Tell me why."
"I'll tell you why on Monday, please come on, my mom is going to call any second."
Quinn squinted at her. "It's a guy, isn't it?"
"Quinn."
Quinn took a breath, she was defeated. All the favors Liv had done for her, she had to do one for her. "Fine, I'll sign you in at my dorm as a guest so you can get the guest form, but you better spill your guts on Monday."
"Deal, thanks." Her phone rang. "Hey mom, I am here with Quinn and she's going to be alone all weekend. I wanted to practice at the field and cages, can I bring home the form for you to sign so I can stay with her this weekend?"
Liv's mother never thought her daughter would lie, so she was happy to let her spend the weekend with Quinn and brush up her skills.
During the day on Thursday, Liv was walking on campus, her campus. She had classes to get to, and when she finally made it to the entrance of her building, there were three boys sitting on the steps in front. She climbed the stairs and one of the boys stood up blocking her entrance.
"Excuse me" Liv said, trying to go around him. She had never seen him before, and didn't want any problems.
"I'll make any excuse to be with you." He put his arm on the door and looked at her.
"Umm, no thank you, now if you'll please." She went to walk towards the door.
"My name is Simon, Simon Guthrie, you know Guthrie development."
"No, actually I don't, nice to meet you, now bye." She ducked under his arm and made her way in the building. "Weirdo" she said loud enough as the door closed.
"What was that all about Simon, you trying to get kicked off campus?" His friend asked.
"She's a virgin, man, I need to get to her before Fitz does. That will clear #5 off his list and he's done. Can't have that happen."
"Does he even know her?"
"I don't know, but she plays softball and he plays baseball, can't take the chance of it happening."
Present Day
Liv kicked her shoes off in her small one bedroom apartment in Newark, NJ. She was working at the Attorney General's office in Trenton, having taken the day off. She still couldn't believe what Jake tried to do in the middle of Central Park. The guy is certified crazy, and she's glad he's done with her.
She changed into her pajamas, ignoring the NAVY sweatshirt that hibernated for years on her hanger in her closet.
Sunday was Valentine's Day, but for ten years she referred to it as the 14th of February. It was a day that shattered her heart and she doubted she would ever feel love again like she felt with Fitz. All the men she dated never came close to making her feel what he had her feel for two nights.
She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead. She poured herself a glass of wine and she called Quinn to let her in on what Jake did today.
After an hour long conversation, mostly laughing about her taking a proposal tantrum, she finally hung up the phone. "You're lucky someone wasn't filming it on their cell phone" Quinn had said.
Quinn had convinced her to go out on Sunday night. Some bar just outside the city in Hoboken. Charlie, Quinn's husband, was away on assignment and Quinn didn't want to be alone on "that day."
Liv agreed to keep her friend company, needing the night out. So it was settled. She would meet Quinn for dinner at 6, and then a night of drinking and drowning away the meaning of the 14th of February.
Liv often wondered what Fitz was doing now. Was he married? Did he stay in the NAVY? The last she heard he was training off the coast of California having been one of the top pilots in the Top Gun program. While she was at law school in Alabama, she tried to keep up with his career, but hers got in the way. She eventually gave up and Fitz became a distant memory.
Eight years ago during Fleet Week in the city, Liv was walking around the area of the Intrepid. It was crowded, having been a bright sunny day. There were so many military men walking around, but Liv spotted him. He was looking at a display talking to another soldier about reloading. He was turned away from her, but she could see his profile.
She thought about walking up to him, saying their little "Hi" but all the pain of being 16 came back again. Liv turned and walked away, never saying a word to him.
Could she ever forgive him? She still had the note he wrote her when he gave her his phone number. Would his number still be the same? What are the odds? He had called her at least fifty times that day she walked away, she never answered.
Her father moved her to a softball training boarding school down close to Alabama. The day Liv ran away from Fitz was the last day she ever stepped foot on that prep school NJ campus.
They met behind the building where Liv first kissed him. They began walking to his campus towards his dorm. He showed her a staircase to wait by, took her bag, and said to come up to room 253 in ten minutes. He was going to distract the Dean that stayed on the floor. The door would be open.
Twenty minutes later, she was in his room on his bed, making out. Her body was screaming with desire and she didn't want to seem desperate, but she was. She had so many emotions towards him and she couldn't keep them in tact anymore.
He finally stopped. "Why don't we order a pizza, we can watch a movie, and then take it from there, is that ok?"
Liv took a deep breath, "Yeah, that sounds good."
They really couldn't ignore the tension in the room no matter how much they tried to pay attention to the movie. They kept interlocking hands, rubbing each other's backs, or Liv would run her hand through his curls.
The pizza sat untouched on the small table Fitz had in his room. Neither one of them seemed hungry enough to eat, pizza anyway.
Finally the credits from the movie went up and Fitz turned and cupped her face. She took his lips onto to hers, and their tongues met their acquaintance. Liv felt a moan escape her and Fitz stopped to take his shirt off.
She rubbed his chest. He wasn't completely muscular, but he had the development of abs. He was just right and as she rubbed his chest, he reached her top and pulled it off with the bra in one motion. He took her mid sized breast in her mouth, and it was a sensation Liv had never felt.
Her body tensed and he caressed her back softly. She held his head in place on her breast, until finally letting go. He laid her down sitting her up on the pillow, as his lips could just not let go of hers. She loved every minute of it and it was driving her into a frenzy of want.
She finally took off her pants and she was naked underneath his body. He stared down at it, rubbing her stomach. "You're beautiful Olivia, just absolutely beautiful. Will this be your first time?"
She shook her head, nervously. She swallowed hard and he kissed her cheek softly. "Don't worry Livvie, it's going to be fine." He stood up and took off his boxers, opened the drawer next to his bed and took out a condom packet.
Liv felt her moisture, something that was unfamiliar to her. She saw him fit the condom on and kneel between her legs. "Let me know if it's too much ok." He kissed her stomach and she had her hands interlocked around his neck from behind. She let go and as he knelt up he guided his erection to her entrance.
He moved it around a little to collect some of her juices, and soon it was gliding around her clit. Her back arched, it felt so dam good. She just whispered his name. He heard her soft voice say "Fitz". He gently put his tip in, pushing in slowly but deeper each time.
Her eyes were closed tightly, and she had her hands on his biceps. She heard him grunt and give a full on thrust, and it felt like she got stung with a belt. "Ahh" and she felt her walls close in around his dick.
He fell onto to her. "Oh God, you feel so fucking good." He was fully in her now. "Are you ok?" He stopped his motion of a moment.
She shook her head. "Please don't stop." He slowly began thrusting again, and Liv felt her walls close around him again. It hurt, like a pinching pain, but it felt so good and she turned her head to the side as he put gentle kisses on her neck.
She put her legs in the air feeling a sensation run through her body. She didn't know it at the time, but it was going to be her first orgasm, and it was going to send her body into a shaking mess.
When it did happen, her hips rose, forcing Fitz to go deeper. She covered her mouth because she was about to scream, and her body trembled under him. Her legs were weak and now dangling over his hips and she couldn't move, as her body was just moving with his motion.
He saw a tear escape the side of her eye. He continued his motion, feeling all the juices now, and he came hard into the condom saying, "Oh Livvie." He lay on her motionless. He wiped the tear away and engulfed her in his arms.
She rested her head into his chest. "You alright?"
She nodded, hugging him tight.
"I am going to pull out now." He slowly brought his body back and she moaned as she felt the emptiness where he had been. She fell back onto the pillow, in complete exhaustion.
He let her rest her head on his chest as he kissed her forehead.
"Thank you for being so gentle, that was so amazing Fitz."
He rolled so her hands were around his shoulder blades. He looked at her eyes, the beautiful doe eyes. "You know how long I've loved you Fitz?" and she turned her head away.
He moved it back, so they were eye to eye again. "Since you saw me on that bus?"
"How did you know?"
"Because that's how long I've been thinking about you." He brought his forehead down to hers and they just smiled at each other.
He really couldn't believe how amazing the past few hours with her had been. "You're easy to fall in love with Olivia Pope." He meant it. He never felt the way he felt with anyone. He never wanted to let her go.
"So, are we dating now Liv?"
"I don't know. What about Melody?"
"What about her. I've known her since I was four. Really, it's nothing."
"Well, she may be mad if we date."
"She's going to be mad anyway, when she finds out how I love you." He just stared at her letting her know how honest he was being.
They didn't sleep much at all that night. They asked each other question after question just to get to know each other.
"I like surfing, playing any sport, and reading up on fighter jets."
"I like bowling, reading romance books, and listening to all genres of music."
"I have a celebrity crush on Jennifer Lopez."
"I have a celebrity crush on Denzel Washington."
"Ooh, an older man."
Liv laughed. "You jealous."
"My father is a Senator from the great state of California." Fitz deepened his voice when he said that.
"My father works for the MTA by day and delivers pizzas at night. My mom works for Fed Ex by day and files medical folders at night."
It continued like this throughout the day on Saturday and they made love for a second time on Saturday afternoon. It was just as wonderful as the first. She laid on top of him, he laid on top of her, they kissed, they talked, they stared, they slept. He watched her, she watched him.
"Fitz, what are your goals?"
"I want to be Tom Cruise in Top Gun. I want to be the best pilot the NAVY has ever seen, you?"
"I want to get a full scholarship playing softball in Alabama and go to law school. I want to help clients though I don't want to be a corporate snob."
"I definitely can't see you as a corporate snob."
"Where do you see yourself in ten years, Liv?"
"Hmm," she looked side eyed at him. "Married, to you, maybe one kid."
"Just one?" he pouted. "How about three?"
"Maybe three, but in ten years from now, just one."
"Ok, but we don't stop until we have a boy."
"ha, oh really?"
"Look, it's morning. Happy Valentine's Day Livvie."
"Happy Valentine's Day Fitz," and she kissed him lovingly.
"Yeah, really." His phone buzzed. He looked at it. "Ah shit one of my friends forgot his key. I'll be right back."
Liv nodded. She began to look around the room. Against his desk, she saw a picture of him holding a surfboard. He was tan and he looked really good. She pulled the picture down, and noticed a list that said senior year goals, let's fucking go.
She held the list looking at his handwriting. It was his handwriting, she looked at the note he wrote her enough. She looked at all the ones crossed off except number 5. "Fuck a virgin twice in one night."
Liv's heart sunk. She couldn't see through the tears, as she dropped the list and got dressed. She grabbed her bag and headed out. She saw that guy from the other day down the hall and she ducked into the door that was on her left before he could see her.
She was in the community bathroom. She went into a stall and stood on the toilet, hanging her bag on the hook. She heard voices outside the door, and the door opened.
Fitz was on his way back to the room when he saw Simon on his floor. "What the fuck are you doing here?" Fitz asked him.
"None of your fucking business Grant, you don't own the place."
"Shut up," he heard a voice call from one of the rooms. Fitz pointed to the bathroom, and they entered.
"Maybe I am here to see if you finished your list. Top Gun awaits, I hear they're sending out acceptance letters this week."
"Yeah, as a matter of fact, the list is complete."
"No fucking way. You fucked a virgin twice in one night. Fucking liar."
"No, I'm not. What would I gain by lying?"
"Oh plenty. Who did you fuck, and don't hesitate on the name? I know the virgins of this school."
He didn't want to, but he did. "Olivia Pope."
"You did fucking not."
"Oh, you bet your ass I did."
"I can't wait to see how you prove this."
Liv heard every word in the stall. She grew weak at the knees, and she nearly fell off the toilet. Losing her balance, she grabbed her bag, and pushed the door open, falling flat on her face in front of the two of them.
Simon looked at Fitz, shocked. "Guess you don't have to prove it after all."
Liv jumped up and headed out the door. Fitz screamed her name. "No, wait Olivia, please, wait, it's not what you think. LIVVIE!" He ran his hand through his hair and saw Simon smirk at him from behind. If it didn't cost him his acceptance into the Naval Academy he would've punched that smile right off his face.
She heard the echo in her head. "LIVVIE, LIVVIE, LIVVIE." That was the last word she heard Fitzgerald Grant say to her as she ran crying out of the dorm, and straight to the train station, that dreadful 14th day of February.
