Chapter 4
Liv's heart was racing faster than she could handle. It was really Fitz, walking into her office after ten years. After ten years, he still took her breath away and despite the heartache she felt because of what was said, she still wanted him to this very moment.
She was about to close the door, attack his lips, before they could even speak. She wanted him to know, yes, she did forgive him, and she would find out the reasons behind his actions soon enough. Right now, she needed that door closed and she needed to feel his lips.
As she slowly closed the door, Bess busily filing paperwork with her back to the hall, Liv turned, and she felt the door stop. It was as if it hit a doorstop and Liv thought this could not be happening. "Hey Olivia, hold the door," her boss, Mr. Santos, the Attorney General had stopped the door from closing.
Fitz turned; his shoulders slumped a bit. He had wanted at least a minute alone with Olivia. He wanted her to know after ten years, she still brought his body to a numbness, a need that wouldn't go away. When he laid eyes on those lips again moments ago, Bess almost got an eyeful. It took every ounce of restraint not to cup her cheeks and devour her mouth into his.
Liv turned to Fitz, "my boss", she whispered, as she opened the door slightly wider. Mr. Santos clapped his hands together. He nodded at Liv and put his hand out for a shake to Fitz.
"I thought you were closing that door purposely, Olivia," he gave a small laugh and looked at Fitz. "Attorney General Carlos Santos, pleasure to have you and the fine service people from your base join us on this grant project." Fitz reached his hand out and met his.
Liv never took her eyes off Fitz. She just couldn't. He looked amazing. Despite the military uniform, his hair was as beautiful as the day she first saw him, curls hanging out of that cap. It was more kept now, but still as beautiful.
She noticed his biceps, despite the uniform jacket. She remembered him beginning to form his muscles, but now they looked bulging through the jacket. Liv felt a chill go up her spine as she looked at his hand as it met her boss's, and she remembered the way he rubbed her bare back.
"Pleasure is all ours. I am Lt. Commander Fitzgerald Grant. I had lost my way from the others, having to take a phone call and noticed Ms. Pope's name on the hall door. Recognizing it from the paperwork as our contact person, I stumbled here into her office." Fitz had to think of something why he was visiting her early than expected.
"Ahh, yes, my Deputy Attorney General. She is amazing. Finest lawyer I've had the pleasure of working with. Glad it was her office you stumbled upon." Mr. Santos looked around the office and took a smell of the aroma.
Liv finally let her stare of Fitz break and looked at Mr. Santos. "Mr. Santos, Carlos, is something wrong?" Liv wasn't sure what he was doing.
"My goodness Olivia, the flowers. They are stunning." His head went around the room quickly. "And so many of them, the aroma from them is heavenly. Oh wow, Valentine's weekend coming up right?"
Liv nodded her head. "That's right, the 14th of February, on Sunday."
"Jake is planning early huh. He really outdid himself this time. Usually, it's a dozen here and there every other month, but ten dozen, that's something. He must have something planned this weekend. You think maybe he's going to propose?"
Liv took the deepest breath she could muster up. Her eyes immediately turned back to Fitz, who's jaw was now clenched. His hands had made their way to the pockets of his uniform pants. Liv didn't know what it was like to be punched square in the gut, but the look on Fitz's face showed her clearly. Mr. Santos had just punched him in the gut with those words.
"Jake and Olivia, well, it's not my place, I went off topic there, sorry Lt. Commander. Anyhow, this grant, this will do some amazing things for the youth of Trenton. Olivia, I am going to sit on in this meeting. This is the one I am going to work closely with, being they have the youth challenge program on base."
"Absolutely Mr. Santos." Liv took a hard swallow as Fitz's hollow eyes just stared blankly at her now. "Shall I meet you at the meeting room?" Liv was hoping Mr. Santos would go first to greet the other officers, giving her at least a minute alone with Fitz.
"Yes, gather up your things, I'll bring Commander Grant over with me, that is if you don't mind walking with me. I hear you're a former member of Top Gun, a Navy Seal. I would love to hear some fighter jet stories on the way over."
"Sure thing." Fitz took one last look at Olivia, his eyes sunken, his heart shattered, and he turned and followed Mr. Santos out the door, just as quickly as he had walked in.
Mr. Santos was going on about his father being a pilot for the Army, but Fitz wasn't listening to a word he was saying. He never thought she would be in a relationship which was stupid on his part. When he noticed it was still her maiden name at least he knew she wasn't married.
Jake. "Olivia and Jake." Those were the words playing over again in his mind. He rubbed his face to calm himself. He heard his name and snapped out of his thoughts.
"Commander Grant, what are your thoughts?' Mr. Santos had stopped walking and Fitz just took a deep breath.
"Why don't we ask the others during the meeting and put all their thoughts together with mine?" He had no clue what Mr. Santos had asked him prior to his answer, but Mr. Santos seemed satisfied enough.
"Very well, ahh, here's the room. The others found it just fine. Olivia shouldn't be too far behind. Let me call for some snacks and beverages to be brought in and we should be able to get started." Mr. Santos put his hand out and led Fitz into the room, then turned and walked out to make that call.
"Hey Fitz, over here." His Navy buddy and fellow engineer teacher Commander Connors pointed to chair next to him, one that was right near the presenter. That presenter would be Olivia and Fitz jumped at the chair to claim it before anyone else did.
"You ok?" Connors asked. "You look like you saw a ghost, then the ghost kicked you. What's up?"
"Ahh, nothing, just thirsty," he lied. Well, if you must know, I just saw the woman of my dreams, a woman I have loved and thought of for ten years and she's in a relationship. By the looks of things, a serious one, and if I hear anyone named Jake in this meeting or around the office, I may just lose my ranking and get dishonorable discharge. He just smiled at Connors. "Really, I am fine."
Ten Years Ago (Graduation Day for Fitz)
"First in your class. I am proud of you son, really, I am. I was hoping you'd be heading to Yale or Harvard for law school someday, but I'll take Top Gun. You ready for the Naval Academy tomorrow."
Fitz smirked. He nodded, "yeah, I am ready, this place prepared me well." He looked over at the Junior section. He had a small ounce of hope she would show up, maybe to be there for Quinn, but if the rumor was true and she was in Alabama, it wouldn't happen.
"Fiiiiitz, how exciting, graduation day." Melody stood on her tip toes to give him kiss. She aimed for his lips, but he turned so she got his cheek.
"Melody, good to see you, where are your folks?'
"Oh, hi Mr. Grant, yeah, they're talking to the Dean over there. I leave for Harvard in two weeks. It's an early law program for undergrads, life is starting for me."
"Let me go say hi to your folks, good for you Melody, maybe you'll be president one day, ever think of that."
"President", she nudged Fitz's arm. "Thanks for letting me do the speech, that was great. How did I sound? Was I long winded? Did I talk about the school enough? What do you think?"
Fitz shrugged. "It was fine, have you seen Mason?"
"Umm," Melody looked around. "Yeah, right there." She pointed a few yards away. Mason was talking to a few guys so Fitz waited.
"What's gotten into you Fitz? For three months now you haven't been you. What happened?"
Fitz took a short breath. "Nothing happened Melody, just getting ready for the NAVY. I leave for the Academy tomorrow."
"Party tonight?"
"Nah, I am going to stay with my dad, spend some time with him. He's driving me in the morning. Good luck to you at Harvard, ok."
"Aww, Fitz, you'll come visit right?"
"Don't count on it, Mel, but we'll be touch I am sure."
Fitz tried to walk away, but he heard his name being called. He turned to see a man he didn't recognize. "Congratulations young man, my boy tells me you're one smart kid, sure you don't want to go Army instead of Navy?" Fitz held his hand out to the man.
"You are?" he asked.
"I am Simon Guthrie. Senior, Simon's father. You beat my boy for top spot, and I wanted to congratulate you, I always like a fierce competition." Fitz saw Simon trudging over.
"Well, sir, pleasure to meet you." Fitz saw Simon's eyes squinting in the sun. "Your son is going to make an outstanding West Point Cadet."
"Ahh, West Point. As much as I am proud my boy got in, he won't last two years, he'll be working my company by then. Well, best of luck to you in your Naval career."
He was left facing Simon. They just glared at each other for a few moments. Every time Fitz looked at him, he saw his Livvie, falling to the ground in embarrassment, the scene played over again in his mind, and he was happy he would never have to see Simon's face again after today.
"Good luck Fitz, I wish nothing but the best for you in life." Simon put his hand out.
"Same to you." Fitz shook his hand and walked away before it got too difficult to control his emotions.
He felt someone jump on his back. "Yee haw, we is graduates." Mason had jumped on Fitz's back, and Fitz nudged him off.
"You're a sick individual. You ready Mr. MIT?"
"Yeah, yeah, I am ready. Full scholarship too, my mother can't stop crying." Mason pointed to her, and Fitz saw her wiping away tears.
"You deserve it man, you really do, you're going to be some mathematician or whatever they call closet nerds like you."
"This coming from Mr. Valedictorian. Still can't believe you pulled that off, ever going to tell me what caused that?"
Fitz nodded. "Can you walk me to my dorm, I have to pick up some last of my items, before heading out."
Mason told his parents he'd be right back, and he headed towards Fitz's dorm for the last time. On the way there, Fitz told Mason everything. He told him about the bus meeting, seeing her on campus, the library, the batting cages, and finally their weekend.
Mason sat on the edge of the now unmade bed and just shook his head in disbelief. "Man, Fitz, you fell bad huh, like over the cliff bad."
"I can't shake her Mason. She just up and left and who can blame her. I can't even look at another girl, I don't know how I am ever going to be with another girl. I hurt her bad and I wasn't even thinking of the dumb fucking list."
"Did you tell her that?"
"Mason, she wouldn't pick up the phone. I tried calling her 50 times, it's done. The only thing, I don't want it to be done."
"Well, you can't live your life thinking of what could have been. She knows where you were, she can find out where you are. You have to reach your goals."
"I know, all this, this graduating first, everything I do, it will be with her in mind. If I ever do see her again, I want her to have something to be proud of about me, not the memory of that day when I made her feel like a whore."
Present Day
Mason was the only person in Fitz's life who knew about his love for Olivia Pope. Mason now teaches crazy math classes at MIT that Fitz can't even pronounce. They talk every other week and Mason brags about how Top Gun badass his best friend is. Wait until he hears how he found Olivia.
Olivia walked into the meeting room. Connors nudged Fitz's arm. "Holy shit, she's gorgeous."
"Easy Connors, remember we're professionals here." He wanted to nudge Connors right back, right off his chair.
"Good afternoon, Gentlemen, thank you all for being here and joining the state attorneys office in the quest to help the community. Our young students are falling behind, and they need to see there is a future for them. The grant being funded will provide for five middle schoolers and five high schoolers to attend engineering classes. That's just for the initial year, the amount of students will increase pending funding, and we hope in five years to have at least twenty students from middle school and twenty from high school. Are there any questions?"
"Yeah, you single?" No one could make out who said it, but Olivia just smiled shaking her head.
"Fitz hit the table." He stood up. "That's enough, where is your respect, your manners?"
The guys cleared their throats. They squirmed a bit in their seats and Liv just looked at Fitz, she could feel her face turning red. She could see the hurt in his eyes, and it was killing her inside.
Olivia glanced at Mr. Santos who nodded for her to go on. "We aren't sure yet what grade level student you will have shadowing you on the base, we are slated to make a schedule of schools after we visit them next week. Who in here is on the list to come to the walk through with us next week?"
They looked at Fitz who had his hands folded to his mouth and was deep in thought. He was the one with the list, and he didn't even hear Olivia ask. Connors nudged him. "Sir, Ms. Pope is asking for the list."
Fitz looked down. He picked the paper up and handed it to her, his hand grazing hers and Liv melted. Fitz closed his eyes slowly and opened them only when his head was down again. "You ok, man you are so out of character right now." Connors was so confused.
Olivia began writing and Mr. Santos took over at that point. He explained the funding and it's purposes. The public schools are relying on us. The graduation rate keeps declining and the crime rate keeps increasing, he let them know. This grant can restore what is so desperately needed for the youth in Trenton.
They all agreed. Olivia stopped writing and stood up. "I have a business card with my contact information for those on the list. This is far from a Big Brother program. This is life for these students and if you are on board, I am asking you are willing to give all you have for them. They are already being told to set up for failure, let's change that for them." She handed out five business cards.
"These are for middle school." She handed out five more. "These are for the high school. You'll find my work number and my business cell phone number. I do not answer the cell phone after six on weekdays or on the weekends. You may leave a message and I will get back to you. In the meantime, look for an email from me next week for your school walk through assignment."
As the men were looking at the card, she slipped one under Fitz's hand. He looked at her, and she gave a small smile. Her thumb rubbed the top of his hand, as he slid the card towards him. He looked down at the card and her handwriting was on it.
Personal Cell number, call anytime
Home address, come after you call to make sure I am home.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday.
He looked at her confusingly, but she was already back to speaking.
"Thank you once again gentlemen. With contact information out of the way, I have prepared a short power point for you. This power point is going to show you statistics of crime, imprisonment, and the need for public defenders for the youth. It will also compare the Trenton schools to neighboring communities such as Yardville and Ewing. I think the numbers will speak for themselves when you see the difference you can make in all of this."
As the meeting ended, Commander Connors introduced himself to Olivia and apologized for what had happened earlier.
"No need to apologize, Commander, it's not the first time, don't think it will be the last. This grant is forefront, let's focus on that."
Connors nodded. Fitz got up and once he saw Connors had Santos's ear, he walked up to Olivia. Her back was to him as she was shutting down the projector and he whispered in her ear.
"I don't know who Jake is, and I don't care, I'll call you. Maybe we can have a real 14th of February." Olivia couldn't turn around if she wanted to, her knees were too weak. His voice vibrated her eardrum and traveled right to her core.
Fuck, this man still had her. Her incurable disease. She closed her eyes, licked her lips, and finally found the strength to turn around, but he was gone. She took a deep breath and gathered her materials. On the top page of her report, she saw it. It was his writing again. His phone number written right on top with just initial "F" next to the number.
Ten Years Ago (finishing Junior year)
Olivia sat in the Dean's office with her parents. The dean had been pleasantly surprised with the academic achievement Olivia had shown coming so late in the year. She wanted to talk about the upcoming year and her future in softball.
"Olivia is not only an extraordinary athlete, but she has also excelled beyond expectations in academics. I assure you our program is quite rigorous, and I didn't think she would catch up coming so late in the year. It comes as no surprise that her athletic ability will get her accepted and her scholarship will remain intact, but in addition to that, she is going to be considered for the honors classes next year."
"Baby girl, that's amazing." Her mother hugged her while her father rubbed her shoulders.
"The only thing, Mr. and Mrs. Pope, with her starting so late in the year, despite her success, she will have to stay here for the summer and take some make up courses. Will that be alright with you? We have dorms, so room will not be an issue."
They had planned to take Olivia to Paris this summer. She had always wanted to explore the city and visit France, so they looked at her for approval.
"It's fine, mom and dad, really. I like it here, but will you visit?"
"Every two weeks if that's ok with the Dean." Her father looked at her.
"Absolutely, parents are always welcomed to visit. Coach Teague is very impressed with your play. Don't say you heard it from me just yet, but you may be looking at the starting third base position your freshman year, just keep up the good work."
She was determined to keep up the good work. This was her goal, and Fitz knew about her goal. She wanted to do this not only for herself, but for him. She wanted to prove she could accomplish her goal and maybe someday she could show him how hard she worked.
Every time she held the bat in her hands, she thought of that night at the batting cages. She felt his presence and knew he was watching her, and that caused her to do better. Knowing he was there, watching, it motivated her, and it made her become better.
When she started at third base this past season, it was the first season she had no errors. She batted her highest batting average ever and with every hit she got, she looked to the stands wishing he was there to cheer her on.
Her dad stayed behind to fill some paperwork out for the summer program and her mom sat with her in the cafeteria. "What's going on baby girl. You were just given the best news of your life and you still look like some one gutted your insides out."
"Mom, did you lose your virginity to dad?"
Her mother crossed her arms, raised her eyebrows, and flipped her head slightly back. "Well, honey, let's not hold back. No, your dad wasn't my first. I met your dad my freshman year in college, I lost my virginity my junior year in high school, I am guessing much like you?"
"Did you love him?"
"Jeremy? No, I didn't love him. I liked him. I was intrigued, and we experimented. Thinking back now, I wish I didn't lose it to him, having met your father, but I did and once it's gone, you don't get that sugar back. You can't make the apple whole again after you take a bite. You have to get a whole new apple, you hear."
Liv chuckled. "I hear. That weekend, when I told you I was with Quinn, I wasn't."
"I know. Did you lose it then?"
"Yeah, but I love him, mom, my heart aches to this day." She reached in her bag. She took out the picture of Fitz and showed it to her mother.
"He's very handsome, what happened Liv? You have not been the same since that weekend." She handed the picture back to her.
She told her mother everything. She began with when she first saw him on the bus, continued on to seeing him on campus, the library, the batting cages, and then the weekend. She told her every glorious detail about the love making, feeling comfortable having such an open relationship with an understanding mother.
Then, she told her about finding the list, about hiding in the bathroom and hearing the conversation with Simon. She told her about feeling used like she was a pawn in a game, and about how he tried calling her. "Honestly, I felt like a whore."
"I don't anticipate ever seeing him again, and that aches my heart. I cannot stop thinking about him, no matter how hard I try. I have loved him since I saw him. I just wish I never laid eyes on him."
"Do you think in your heart that he was thinking of that list for those two nights you spent with him?"
"I honestly don't know mom."
"If it was such a big deal then why wasn't your name dragged through campus, your friend Quinn would've certainly heard something, the dean would have called us. Something isn't adding up. Maybe he loves you just as much as you love him. You may have stumbled on something accidental. Boys play dumb ass games, especially when girls are involved."
Liv took a deep breath. "I've told no one about him, not even Quinn. This isn't a crush mom, I really do love him. He's off to the NAVY now, hard core training to become a Top Gun NAVY Seal pilot. I may never have the chance to tell him. He will never know that with each passing day, I forgive him."
"Do you?"
"I forgive him, but I don't know how I can ever trust another man. How can I ever be with someone without thinking I am their prize? Then, I think I don't care, because I only want to be with him."
"Baby, if it's meant to be, one day you will find him again. Have your words and actions beforehand. It seems this experience was both beautiful and heartbreaking for you. I know this won't deter your goals, but try to focus on the road in front of you."
He father joined them going on about the summer program and how Liv needed to keep those ankles healthy. He was over the moon proud of his young daughter. Hearing him speak, she realized she had no time for love right now. She had to focus on her academics on her softball, that's just what she did.
Present Day
Liv sat alone in her office. She stared at the note from the florist and read it again for the 1000th time. She always thought of the day she would see him again. After seeing him and being too much of a coward to go to him Fleet Week she always hoped she'd have another chance.
She looked around her office. The roses were beautiful, glowing in the darkness off the windows. She thought of Mr. Santos. He didn't mean it; how could he know.
She imagined that door closing, God what she would have done to his lips, pulled him almost grind into him. He looked so damn good. Now, he thinks she's in a relationship, but he said the words, he didn't care, and if she was still in the relationship, she wouldn't care either.
The only thing she could do now was hope, hope that he would take her up on meeting her at her place on Friday. She didn't know what kind of schedule military guys took. Can he just ask for a weekend off?
She was holding her face in her hands when she heard a small knock at the door. Could it be? She jumped up and swung the door open. It was Mr. Santos, not Fitz.
"Wasn't sure you were still here. That was fantastic today. This program is going to be spectacular Liv, I am so glad you are running point on this. Just got a phone call, we may be getting ten slots for each school this year, so you may need some more NAVY guys, do you have Lt. Grant's number?"
"Yes, he left it with me with his paperwork" she lied. "I will let him know tomorrow."
Mr. Santos turned to leave. "Still smells heavenly in here."
"Jake didn't send them to me." Mr. Santos looked at Liv. "We stopped seeing each other when I turned his proposal down. He did propose, but it wasn't right, so it's over between us."
"Oh, Olivia, I am sorry, but what about?" He glided his hand around the roses.
Liv shrugged. "An old flame, we'll see what happens."
"See you in the morning, kid." Mr. Santos left.
Now at home in her bed, Liv anticipated the phone call to Fitz in the morning. She wasn't afraid to call him, more nervous. What if she didn't have the words?
She turned to her side in bed. As she did so many nights after she left him, she pretended he was in her bed. She wanted to wake up in his arms, caress his chest, he face while he slept. She wanted to smell his skin, hers touching his. Some mornings she woke up earlier than she should, just to fantasize about Fitz.
She put her arm over her eyes. When she called his name out when she was with Jake, she thought Jake was going to cry. He just looked at her, stopped what he was doing, and said "What the actual Fuck Liv, who the hell is this guy?"
Olivia really didn't have an answer. He had heard the name before, having woke her up as she was dreaming of him. "I still can't believe the dead ass proposed." She whispered out loud.
She turned one final time, holding her pillow. She was caressing it now. "It's always been you Fitz, it will always be you." She took a deep breath, and fell asleep seeing his true features in her dream for the first time in ten years.
Fitz didn't interact much at all after the meetings that day. His fellow officers knew something was off, but they let him be. Fitz stayed in his room the rest of the night. He circled the business card with her information in his hand, admiring her handwriting, rubbing his thumb over her address.
Newark wasn't too far, he had already asked for the weekend off base. He never did much on the days leading up to the 14th of February. He still couldn't believe that's how she referred to it also. It still hurt her as much as it hurt him.
God, Livvie, you looked so beautiful. She was everything he had dreamed. The jealousy he felt in that meeting room when she walked in and he couldn't claim her as his. She should be his wife by now. That's where she saw herself in ten years married to him.
Now he laid in his bed. He used all his restraint not to call her. She had his number too, but he didn't know if Jake lived with her or not. He wasn't ready to start trouble, not now anyway. She did say to call anytime, maybe Jake wasn't a factor.
He turned to his side. He would give everything to have her next to him. She would be topless, he would be rubbing her back, feeling her smooth beautiful skin. He would kiss his way down her back, turn her and taste her.
He grunted. God, Livvie, I hope there is still a chance for us. He was able to close his eyes for the first time in ten years and see her eyes clearly now. The Livvie he would have grown to love, her features more beautiful today than when he first saw her. His dreams welcomed her, and he slept peacefully knowing his Livvie was now a phone call away.
Friday (12th of February)
They both woke up aware of the day. It was the ten-year anniversary of that night. It was the ten-year anniversary of the day Liv lost her virginity and Fitz fell head over heels in love. It was the ten-year anniversary where a lifetime was planned out, only to be shattered two days later by a dumb prank.
Liv's meetings today were much longer than they were with the Fort Dix people. The corporate world was filled with entitled workers who would settle for nothing but the best.
It seemed walking through urban public schools were beneath some of them, and Liv wanted to throw every pencil in her path at some of them. After so many changes to individuals and their schools, Liv was exhausted.
She sat back on her office chair, not realizing it was 4:00 already. Bess had swung open her door, looking distressed. "What is it?"
"You're not staying late, are you? And if you are, you're not going to need me, are you?" Bess was almost in tears.
"Oh, God, no Bess, go, go an hour ago, why the hell are you still here?" It was Bess's wedding anniversary. She had plans for a weekend getaway with her husband. Liv felt horrible that she was here this late.
"Well, I kept getting messages from the room that you needed all these changes…."
"And I'll still need all these changes on Monday, go!"
Bess didn't have to be told twice and she was gone.
Liv picked up the paper with his number on it. She didn't have to, she had it memorized already. She raised her shoulders. "Here goes." The ringing on the other end had her heart beating out of her chest. She was about to hear his voice again, or so she hoped.
After five rings, it went to voicemail. It was automated. Lt. Commander Fitzgerald Grant is unable to take your call please leave a message.
"Hi, this is Deputy Attorney General Olivia Pope. I just need to talk to you about the grant. We will need a few more instructors as we have more funding for more students. Hope to hear from you on Monday. "She paused. "Enjoy your weekend."
She wanted to say I love you, but who knows who listens to his messages. What if he has a secretary or something. She just played it safe.
So, she sat on her couch Friday evening. She had a glass of wine and a bowl of popcorn on the table in front of her. She was scrolling through Netflix to see if there were any movies she could watch. Each time she looked at the clock, she remembered what she was doing ten years ago at this time. She had to get her thoughts away from him.
When he got back to his office to retrieve his phone, he had forgotten he saw the missed call. He already had her name saved with the number on his phone. He did that about ten minutes after she gave him her number. Missed call "Livvie".
"Son of a…." He listened to the message. It was professional. He didn't expect anything less from her. He played it once, ten times, then an unhealthy amount just to hear her voice. He heard that pause at the end. Was she about to say…? Don't think it Fitz.
He smelled the popcorn radiating into the hallway. She was on the sixth floor of the apartment building on a floor with two other apartments. He sat up against her door not having the nerve to knock just yet.
Was the popcorn because she was in there with Jake? Were they watching a movie? Were they not watching a movie? He highlighted the name Livvie on his phone and pushed send.
He heard her phone ring, it was Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" as a ringtone and his heart, he swears stopped beating for a moment." Don't die Fitz, not now.
"Hi" Her voice came through.
He stood up and faced the door. "Hi"
"Look Fitz, I wanted to…."
"Open your door."
She looked over at her door. "Why?"
"So we can talk face to face."
She looked through the slot in the door and saw him in a dark blue NAVY SEAL shirt and NAVY sweats. Jesus…. She opened the door, dropped the phone and pulled him in.
When Olivia was eight, her parents took her to see the fireworks at Liberty State Park. They were sitting right below where they would go off. Even though Olivia was anticipating the lights and loud sounds, her body felt a bolt when it started.
That felt much like the bolt she felt now. She pulled him in, closed the door, and their lips locked as she pushed him up against the door. His phone fell out of his hands as his arms wrapped around her and he joined her in the kiss. BOOM...that bolt.
This was a kiss ten years in the making and Liv grinded up against him, not letting him breathe for air. He pushed her back, tongue leading to her neck, and his breathing was just as fast as hers. "God, Livvie" and she stopped his words with another attack on his lips as she pulled her shirt off. She pulled him in trying to get him to the couch.
His hands ran down her smooth back and he took his shirt off as well. She took in his chest, his abs, his biceps, all developed into a muscular gorgeousness. He brought her to her knees, and he followed, lying down on her on the plush rug, never making it to the couch. His mouth found her perfectly formed breast and her hands rubbed his back as she felt his lips take control of her nipple.
She was so wet right now, her core throbbing, and she couldn't hold out another moment. This was ten years of need, of want, and she couldn't wait, she wouldn't wait. She slipped his sweats off, as he pulled her leggings down.
His lips met hers again, and she was groaning, begging for him to be in her, and it didn't take long because she was so wet. He put his head down into her neck and pumped his body into her, the body he longed for now for ten years.
She was completely lost, he was rough, but a good rough, as he reached under her ass, and pulled her closer to him, feeling him going deeper. "So fucking good, God, Livvie, so fucking good."
Her head fell to his shoulder, and her body couldn't handle it anymore, and the orgasm she's been waiting to have for ten years shook her. She moaned, a loud moan, pulling at his curls. She swore the orgasm lasted two straight minutes, or she had two at once, either way, he didn't stop.
She had no strength left in her, and with each thrust now, he was saying something.
"Ten. Years."
He grunted.
"I. Love. You."
He grunted again. She was lost in his words. Her whole body just chills and shakes. She was completely numb, holding onto to him, her legs wrapped around his. "Oh. God. Livvie." He heard their bodies now, well him, pounding her. He looked at how weak she was, how beautiful she was, and his breathing became heavier. She opened her eyes, caressed his cheek, and watching his eyes roll back, as she felt him empty himself into her. She felt the liquid inside her, the spasm of his dick losing it all in her, and it felt beautiful.
He opened his eyes, looking directly into hers. Their breathing overtaking the sound of the room. Liv was quite sure she would have some rug burns on her back, but they would be well worth it. He kissed her again, this time with tenderness, with love, and her arms wrapped lovingly around his neck.
The front of his hair was soaked with sweat, as was her forehead, and just like that first night together, their foreheads rested on one another's ignoring the sweat.
"Wow." She said. "That was…"
"Ten years of missed love making, ten years of apologies, and ten years of I still love you." He said back.
She smiled. "Sounds about right." He lifted her forehead off hers.
"I take it you're on the pill, I mean, that was fast, I didn't, I don't even think I have. Anyhow, you're on the pill, right?"
"No, I'm not, and I am fine with that. Ten years Fitz. We're not married, I don't have a kid. We're a little behind. That is if you recall where I saw myself in tens years."
He just looked at her and smiled. "This is going to be an interesting weekend."
For several more minutes they stayed laying like that. They were naked, as one. His head was nestled on her chest, her head on his, as she rubbed his back and curls, and he rubbed her side down and up just enjoying the smoothness of her skin.
They had ten years of talking to do, and they just wanted this moment to reconnect and fall in love in the presence of one another again.
