I do not own My Hero Academia, it is owned by Horikoshi

I also do not own K-9 which was a character originally from Doctor Who, in this case this iteration is more like the one from the Australian TV show K-9

Chapter 30 - The Eraser and the Dragon / A Boy and his Dog

Car: (Enroute to U.A.)

Shino Shozaki looked back from the passenger seat at the two boys that had fallen asleep in the back seat. 'If the situation wasn't so serious, I'd be taking pictures to tease them about later.' Given what her young nephew had been through however, she wasn't about to pull something like that on them.

"You're doing the right thing, letting U.A. take him in for the time being," said Yawara Chatora while keeping his eyes on the road, "Besides, you saw how Mineta and Midoriya were like brothers, I know you feel guilty in potentially getting them separated."

"Yeah, but Kota kind of needed Izuku too, though he didn't need..."

"Those bastards will get what's coming to them," Yawara growled dangerously, "Nobody does that to the Pussy-cats' little kitten and gets away with it!"

Ryukyu's Hero Agency:

The door chime rang as Aizawa and All Might walked into the studio on the first floor of Ryukyu's hero agency, surprised to see Mineta sitting behind a small desk, whom didn't stand up to try to greet them. "Mineta?" asked Aizawa, 'I suppose he has a right to be angry with me.'

"Sorry," replied Mineta wheeling himself around the desk, revealing that he was in a wheelchair, "I'm supposed to stay off my feet except for rehab as part of the conditions for me being released from the hospital for the next three days, that's with Recovery Girl's healing quirk helping. The scars aren't really noticeable though, which is cool."

"Hello gentlemen," came a voice at the top of an interior balcony.

"Dragon Hero Ryukyu," greeted Aizawa.

"I didn't expect you till a little later," Ryuko Tatsumo said as she gracefully walked down a spiral staircase, "I presume you wish to have Mineta living at U.A. for his safety..."

"Yes, we feel given all the attacks the students will be safest at the school with the teachers living on campus and..."

"Yet looking at Mineta nearly getting killed by a classmate possessed by a villain, you guys haven't done the best job so far," interrupted Ryukyu finally stepping regally off the stairs carrying herself in a dignified manner that Aizawa would expect of the current Empress of Japan or the current Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth the III.

"Tatsumo, I..." began All Might.

"All Might, please stop, Mineta explained to me after you retired, about your injury, you noticed Midoriya's quirk was similar to your own, so you started tutoring him as a possible successor for your role as a pillar. I understand why you kept this from the public, your impressive judge of character trusting Mineta with the secret, so I do not blame you in all of this."

"I take it you blame me?" asked Aizawa.

"Good question," replied the Dragon Hero, "Were there any personality changes in the possessed student that you missed, things that could have headed off Mineta nearly losing his life?"

"I've been asking myself the same thing," admitted Aizawa, "They scanned both Katsuki Bakugo and Kota Izumi thoroughly after their rescue from the villains, then checked them both at the genetic level and their quirk factors are intact."

"Prudent, but what about the other students?"

"Denki Kaminari is immune to that thing...it seems to react poorly to electric based quirks, "Tokoyami is also likely immune due to his sentient quirk, Midoriya is given full check-ups regarding his quirk routinely, so he's clean, but we can't exactly have all the students submit to invasive medical exams out of fear."

"That's a good point... What about the teachers and the Principal?"

"That thing would have killed Nezu if it were inside him, Power Loader's already been checked, a good amount of U.A.'s security is robotic though, that security wasn't present at USJ."

Ryukyu smiled, "Okay, I will allow for you to continue to have Mineta at U.A., but I'm holding you responsible for his safety and physical rehab, my other condition is he not be interning under Nighteye, I don't think it would be a good fit, and I believe the reason is to get at Mineta's friend, Midoriya..."

"Fair enough," said All Might before Aizawa could object, "I take it you intend for him to intern under you if he gets his provisional license?"

"Yes, I am also looking at two others thanks to recommendations from Selkie and Gunhead."

Height's Alliance: (U.A. High School)

Kota walked into the Dorm's common area, "Wow they built all this, this quickly?

"Well this Dorm was built earlier due to what happened with Midoriya's mother," said Principal Nezu causing Kota to jump before seeing that the owner of the voice was slightly shorter than he was, "We figured it would be better for you to move in now and get used to the surroundings, before the rest of Midoriya's class was here."

"O-okay," Kota looked hesitant until Midoriya nodded that Nezu was safe.

"I take it the pup has been through a trying time," said Principal Nezu as they walked to the elevator.

"You could say that," replied Izuku as they entered the elevator, "I don't believe Kota wants to..."

"I imagine not," the Principal acknowledged, "I just found it interesting that both Aizawa and All Might requested Mr. Inui put Kota in his schedule at the earliest opportunity. Power Loader should be here soon to help set up some safety measures for Kota." They walked to Kota's room, "On one side will be Tokoyami, he and Midoriya both apprentice under Hawks," commented Nezu.

"The Number 3..." murmured Kota, now that he had time to calm down and think, things began to start registering, 'That's why Izuku was there, he was with Hawks, to save me.'

"Yes," commented Nezu while opening the door showing boxes piled up on the floor, but the room also had a bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave (though Izuku noticed the Microwave was a bit different than the one in his room), and a 1/2 bathroom.

"Sir, is that a charging station?" asked Izuku.

"Yes, so it is."

"What's it for?" asked Kota nervously as there was a knock on the side of the door frame causing him to nearly lose it.

"Sorry for scaring you like that," Power Loader apologized as he wheeled in a box wrapped in wrapping paper, measuring a little over a meter long, about a meter tall, and half a meter wide, "This is for you little fella, this here was originally being put together as something to protect our resident trouble magnet over there, but then with a little kid needing to be protected instead..."

Kota just looked at the floor before finally asking, "What is it?"

"Why don't you open it and find out?"

Kota looked at Midoriya pleadingly, "Go on, it's okay Kota, I don't think this is anything that will hurt you."

Kota nodded and started fumbling with the wrapping paper, both Nezu and Power Loader noticed the issues Kota was having as he struggled to the box open to reveal what looked almost like a cross between a highly advanced drone and... "Is that a robot Dog head?" asked Kota. The robot slowly began to power up.

"This was actually the...his idea," Power Loader pointed at the robot, "I hate to admit it but I'm kinda a geek. When I got to thinking of something to keep an eye on Midoriya over there, I settled on the old trope of a boy and his dog."

There was a low barely audible hum that Nezu was surprised Kota could also hear it as the robot dog lifted off the stand that it had been sitting on, "Greetings young master Kota," it spoke with a slight accent, "I am K-9."

"I take it the exterior design was from the one season television series and not the Doctor Who version," commented Nezu.

"Yeah, that version would be too clunky to fulfill the objectives," stated Power Loader proudly, "He has a top speed of 403 kilometers per hour, a max flight ceiling of 6,100 meters, his power cells can hold a charge under full normal operating conditions for 2 weeks, he is armed with a miniaturized combat laser that can cut through armor plating, he also has a top of the line sensor capabilities, some of which the military doesn't have, he is capable of detecting the beginnings of a spatial distortion, which is seen in all warp quirks, his OS is also self-upgrading, and he has self repair abilities due to microscopic repair bots built into him. He is fully waterproof and can be submerged to a depth of 10 meters, but I wouldn't recommend it, and can survive a direct hit from a standard artillery shell..."

"I believe all the young master needs to know is I can protect him," K-9 commented dryly, "The point is I can protect you young master, and even if I'm severely damaged you can count on me to come for you. I will not do your homework for you however."

"You know I always pictured you more as a Rockman fan..." Nezu remarked.

"I don't think that Rush would have fit the mission parameters," replied Power Loader, "Anyways while he can access networks, there is a buffer that prevents his main O.S. from interfacing directly so nobody can remotely hack into his optical sensors to spy on you."

"I have also been taking bio-metric readings of the young master..."

"Just call me Kota."

"As you wish," replied the flying robot dog, "I have been scanning Kota from even when he was opening the box." Kota recoiled at this, "This is to be able to immediately identify you in a crowd if there is a lot of confusion, as well as being able to distinguish between you and someone with a transformation quirk, as well as monitor your vitals if you are injured, so I can contact the appropriate authorities. My priority is your safety after-all." This calmed Kota down.

"T-thank you."

"No problem kid," said Power Loader as he and Nezu left closing the door with Power Loader taking the empty box off their hands after setting the stand in the corner of the room.

"I have a question," said K-9 turning towards Midoriya, "What is your relation to the Young Master?"

"He's my big brother," Kota answer.

"Not by blood," clarified Izuku, "You could say I'm adopted."

"I understand you are studying to be a pro-hero so there is some danger, but try not to be too reckless, the Young Master...would likely be very sad if something were to happen to you."

"I'll try my best," Midoriya acknowledged before turning back to the boxes, "Okay Kota let's help you unpack."

"Since, I am not fully charged, and I will be in the way, I will hook up with the charging station so I'm out of the way," with that K-9 did just that, offering occasional comments as the two boys, well Izuku mostly, worked to get Kota unpacked.

"Izuku, I'm sorry..."

"For what?"

"For being so useless, my h-hands... I can't even hold chopsticks to feed myself!" he began to cry.

"They'll get better," assured Midoriya, "We can go see Recovery Girl."

"Recovery Girl is not scheduled to be back until the day after tomorrow, your classmates will be here tomorrow," said K-9, "I have forwarded a request that she be here first thing in the morning, given both of your perspiration levels, I would advise a hot bath."

Outside the Bakugo residence:

"Mr. Aizawa, All Might," Katsuki Bakugo called out as they were about to reach their car.

"Yes, young Bakugo?" said All Might.

"How's the brat? He...looked pretty beat up, and while I couldn't see his eyes..."

"He's slowly recovering," said Aizawa, "He's going to be staying at U.A. for the foreseeable future."

"They raped him didn't they," said Bakugo, it was a statement, not a question, "I'm right aren't I, because you are hesitating to answer. Damn-it! I should have blasted that piece of shit harder!"

"I had a question about middle school, do you remember an incident when Midoriya was around 11."

"Incident... No... Wait a minute... Don't tell me the piece of shit that tried to rape Deku, raped the kid! I knew Deku should have reported his ass."

"No," said Aizawa.

"What? How can you?"

"If he had, it could have been a black mark on your record for vigilantism that would have prevented you from entering U.A.," replied Aizawa, "He didn't say anything to protect you, otherwise you can rest assured he would have reported it. Since there is no report and this happened before you joined U.A., we can sweep this under the rug. Off the record, you did good protecting him."

"I should have gotten there sooner, just like the fact I was weak cost you your powers."

"Young Bakugo, I was always going to lose them, at least this way, I took All for One off the field in the process, if it had been much later, even with the Skycrawler's help, there is a good chance I could have lost."

"What?"

"It isn't your fault."

"But if I had done what Mandalay said..."

"Ordinarily I would be giving you a lecture about that, but in this case you would have walked right into a trap," answered Aizawa grimly, "They struck just after Midoriya set Kota down in the classroom with Vlad there. They would have gotten their hands on Midoriya too, if it wasn't for his costume's gas mask. Worse your quirk could have ignited the poison gas, potentially killing everyone. The fault was mine, I should have taken Kota off Midoriya's hands, he was right, he is faster than I am."

"No, the Nerd would charge in blindly, heedless of his own safety, he's gotten better about it, but still."

"It was fortunate for young Midoriya that you forgot your cell phone," said All Might referring to what happened in Middle School.

"I didn't forget my cell phone, that ass hat was bragging about pulling something on 'the quirkless shit,' I went to my school locker to get my books first to head home, but then I went back to the locker room using 'I forgot my phone,' as an excuse. I didn't want Deku to get the wrong idea about me actually being worried about him. If I had gotten there sooner..."

"He may have pulled it again on a different day," answered Aizawa, "Or he may have pulled it on you and then Midoriya.

"Pfft, as if," replied Bakugo, "The asshole's quirk only worked if it was skin on skin contact, the school uniforms were long sleeved, he actually did grab me in the fight but Deku couldn't see that part, however since my clothing was in the way, his quirk didn't work."

"That explains things, that said it is fortunate he tried to pull it on someone else and he got caught."

"Good, look I won't talk about what happened to the kid, at least not without the kid's permission, I don't really remember much of the time they had me."

"It's a good thing you were there though, it caused them to lose interest in Kota, who knows what else they would have done to him," said Aizawa, not to comfort, but to explain.

"..."

"Don't be surprised if Kota starts following you around," said Aizawa.

"Why... Why did you let the kid know... Oh, I get it," Bakugo thought for a moment, then shrugged, "As long as the kid isn't too annoying about it. Don't tell Deku I lied about forgetting my phone, I don't want him to get the wrong idea, I didn't do it for him, I did it because it would have broken Aunty Inko if that had happened to her son."

"Tell him what?" asked Aizawa as he and All Might walked to the car.

"So we heading to U.A. now?" asked All Might.

"Yeah, I've got to finish unpacking, "While I got the cats' stuff unpacked, I still have to finish unpacking, and I should check on how the two boys are settling in before everything gets hectic tomorrow."

Kitchen Area:

"I'm sorry I'm not the greatest cook," said Midoriya as he started to feed Kota when Aizawa walked in.

"I see he's..."

"It's his hands," Midoriya cut off his teacher bitterly, "They aren't working properly, he can't keep his grip on the chopsticks to feed himself." Kota looked down in shame.

"I see," said Aizawa, "I will put a call into Recovery Girl to cut her vacation short."

"Already done," said K-9 whom Aizawa hadn't even noticed."

"You called her?"

"Negative, I sent her a text," explained K-9.

"All right, I'm calling her," said Aizawa and punched in her number then put her on speaker, "Recovery Girl, I need you to come in first thing tomorrow morning."

"Eraser what hair-brained stunt did you do this time?"

"It's not for Mr. Aizawa," replied Midoriya.

"Midoriya what stunt did you pull? I thought you got through your rescue mission unscathed?"

'Okay...' Midoriya's sweat dropped. "It's not for me, it's for Kota Izumi, you see the doctors said that he should regain the use of his hands by now from their quirks and well..."

"I see, I'll be there right away."

"Can it wait till morning?" asked Aizawa.

"No it can't, I may have to give more than one treatment, but I don't want to take the chance that things aren't healing properly, I'm on my way." With that she hung up.

Aizawa took a look at what Midoriya was trying to feed Kota, "Don't feed him that, did anyone ever teach you how to cook?"

"No sir, I can follow directions on the back of a box, but that's about it."

Aizawa sighed, "Okay, while I'm not the best cook, I do know how to make some simple stuff."

Kota's Room:

"No, please, no!"

"Kota!"

Instead of responding Kota continued to whimper and cry out, he started hyper-ventilating.

ZAP! Kota yelped as he was jolted awake. "Apologies Young Master, your breathing was becoming highly irregular."

"That hurt!"

"My apologies."

"K-9"

"Yes young master?"

"Thank you."

"For the pain?!"

"No, waking me up, I was dreaming they had me a-again."

"It will not happen again as long as I'm functional young master."

"Y-you sure?"

"There have been no distortions that would indicate a warp quirk traveling to or from the immediate area, additionally my countermeasures are active to disrupt Ragdoll's 'Search' quirk so they will not be able to get a precise fix on your location. Scanners indicate the only signs of life present currently aside from you are two humans, one of which is Mi.. I mean your brother, the other is Mr. Aizawa, and those four-legged nuisances he brought here...I believe they are called cats..."

"Man, you really are a robot dog..."

"I'm not sure... Oh the trope of cats and dogs not getting along," K-9 responded.

"How do you?"

"This unit is not the original unit, the original unit was significantly larger and built by Mr. Maijima while he attended U.A. years ago, the original unit was starting to suffer mechanical issues due to wear and tear, it did not have the self-repair abilities like this unit has."

"So it's..."

"Non-functional? The answer is yes and no."

"Huh?"

"This unit was originally supposed to carry as humans would say consciousness of the original unit and then the original hardware would have likely be recycled."

"What happened?"

"A culmination of events, primarily the death of a student at USJ and the murder of another student's mother; thus this unit was given it's own consciousness as it were, with copies of language and other knowledge regarding human behavior. Another unit nearly identical to this one was created to house the original unit's operating system."

"Different how?" Kota didn't want to confuse which was which.

"Cosmetic differences only, there are blue stripes with gold trim on the other unit, also it is using an earlier parameters for the vocorder, so that unit's voice will also be different."

"K-9. you're sure that you don't need to sleep?"

"Affirmative, Master! This unit does not need to sleep, even while in a standby state my sensors remain active," answered the robotic canine, "I will keep an 'eye and ear' out for trouble."

Notes:

I wracked my brain as to what Power Loader would come up with to help protect Kota and re-assure him of his safety. It would obviously have to be a robot of some kind, but one Kota would feel re-assured by, I believe something like K-9 would fulfill that.
