I do not own My Hero Academia, it is owned by Horikoshi
I also do not own K-9, the character was originally created for Doctor Who, the iteration of the character seen in this story is more based off the one seen in the 2009 series.
Chapter 33 - The Indigo Archer is Born
Class 1A: UA High School
"As I mentioned yesterday, our primary goal now is to get you all provisional licenses," said Aizawa, 'Especially with this class given all the times it has been attacked.'
"Mr. Aizawa how hard are they to get?" asked Mineta, having been helped to actually sit at his desk due to the fact he wasn't supposed to be walking at least for another day.
"Even with U.A. being one of the best Hero Schools in Japan, we only average about 50%," replied Aizawa, "Though we already have members of the class with provisional licenses."
'That's really bad,' thought Mineta.
"The exams are tough for a reason, once you obtain one, you will be responsible for human lives, something both Midoriya and Tokoyami can attest to. That's why..." he gestured for some people to enter the room.
"You will need to come up with two ultimate moves," said Midnight entering the room and striking a provocative pose. Rocky, whom to the surprise of the class, was also there just face-palmed. "Many heroes these days have ultimate moves, those that don't are just fools."
"I'm not going to announce what I'm going to do like a complete idiot," muttered Rocky, it was a long standing dividing point between Midnight and himself from back when he was in her classroom.
"Really, I don't know how you managed to even succeed in getting your provisional license your freshman year," she said rolling her eyes.
"Midnight, you are aware that Rocky relies on stealth and tries to avoid being the center of attention," pointed out Tokoyami.
"Alright I admit, fair point, however Rocky does have a few ultimate moves, even if he forgot about them..."
"Because they were stupid..."
"Not this again," said Ectoplasm entering the room.
"Why are you..." began Aizawa.
"Getting young Mr. Izumi situated to start his orientation on lessons," replied Ectoplasm, "I wasn't just going to turn things over to a clone for either responsibility."
"Uh just who's watching my little brother?" said Midoriya and Mineta at the same time.
"Snipe," replied Ectoplasm.
'I don't know if I should feel relieved or terrified,' thought Midoriya.
"Get your costumes and meet up at Gym Gamma," said Aizawa, "Also where is Cementoss?"
"He went directly to the Training Dining Land," answered Rocky, "It's the nickname for Gym Gamma, probably cause he didn't want to listen to the long-standing disagreement between myself and Midnight."
"Deny it all you want young Kurinsumi," sighed Midnight, "But you do actually use some ultimate moves, even if you refuse to acknowledge them and name them..."
"I am not a kid!"
"Sensei, with your permission, I'm gonna grab something from my dorm room," said Shinso raising his hand.
"You are not allowed to use your motorcycle..."
"Wait he actually has a motorcycle in his dorm room?" said Midnight, "Oh that's soooo hottt!"
"Get a grip," muttered Rocky, rolling his eyes.
"I'm not referring to the motorcycle," explained Shinso, "Ashido, Mineta, and Midoriya thought I might try to use some my archery skills."
"I think it's a great idea, he could run around as cupid, yesss!"
"I can't believe I got talked into helping with this," muttered Rocky.
Gym Gamma:
"Okay before we start," said Aizawa, "I need convincing you won't inadvertently kill someone with that longbow..."
"Okay," shrugged Shinso, "Miss Yaoyorozu if I could have a ballistic dummy on the other side of the gym."
"Alright, this should be entertaining if nothing else," she said walking to the other side of the gym as Shinso was checking his bow's draw strength.
"Okay it appears to be ready," said Aizawa as Yaoyorozu walked back taking the long way so she wasn't in any potential line of fire, "So what are you going to do call out targets and hit them, like chest, head..."
Shinso sighed and took aim, "Right eye." He let his arrow fly and to Aizawa's astonishment he took out the ballistic dummy's right eye. "Left eye," said Shinso calmly repeating the same feat. He then called out a series of other targets, followed by placing an arrow in each location.
Aizawa's mouth fell open, "... I stand corrected."
"Snipe isn't even that accurate," said Midoriya after a moment, "I've watched the special on his feats of marksmanship with his quirk."
"I've been practicing with a bow since I was two, archery is kinda a family affair, and since I am ambidextrous, I can pull off the same feat using either hand," said Shinso shrugging, "I still plan on learning the capture scarf, but I need to work with what I can do for the exam."
"Looks like your costume will need a total redesign," sighed Aizawa, "Probably special arrows, and a new bow, one that can function as a staff..."
Cementoss started to demonstrate his abilities to manipulate the cement to form areas for people to practice as Ectoplasm created clones of himself to instruct students individually as All Might walked in.
"Hey, I'm gonna borrow Midoriya for a minute," said Rocky, "I think you intend for Tokoyami and him to help with the others developing their new tricks."
"What's going on?" asked Aizawa, All Might was also within earshot but decided not to say anything as he started to walk towards Kirishima to offer some advice.
"I'll tell you later," said Rocky and started walking outside gesturing for Midoriya to follow him.
When they got outside, Midoriya asked, "What's going on?"
"While I wasn't there when they did that complete physical on you, the first one. Do you remember them taking blood samples?"
"Yes, what about it?"
"The samples have gone missing, now its entirely possible that they were destroyed and it wasn't documented, or they got misplaced, but..."
"You and Hawks think there's a strong possibility they were stolen?"
"Yeah, for who knows what reason but it can't be good if they were."
"Mineta," called out Shinso, "Did you have any costume redesign suggestions, I'm going to go see Power Loader."
"Uh sure, if that's okay Sensei?"
"That is perfectly acceptable, given you are unable to practice today anyways, but make sure you don't shortchange yourself while assisting your classmate," answered Ectoplasm before Aizawa could give his permission.
As Shinso walked alongside Mineta's wheelchair, Shinso suddenly decided to speak up, "Hey Mineta, thanks."
"For what?"
"For helping me out, I really don't think I could master the capture scarf in the short period of time that we have."
"No problem."
U.A. High School interior:
"Do you have any ideas on costume design? I know mine has been up in the air as to whether or not I'd master the capture scarf but..."
"Don't worry, I have some ideas and it's not like the design can be overly complicated and you don't even really have your Hero name nailed down yet anyways," assured Mineta, "Uh hold up wait a minute."
"What for?" asked Shinso as there was suddenly an explosion down the hall where Ida and Uraraka were standing, "How did you know?"
"Mei Hatsume was likely in the workshop, so something's gonna go boom."
It took some work to come up with some blueprints for Shinso's new costume, but hey it gave me something to do. Given how accurate he is with a longbow, I think he's found his weapon of choice for the exam.
Truth be told, I wasn't just helping Shinso out of the goodness of my heart, I needed someone to help me with my physical therapy and Izzy had been roped into being a teacher's aide, and also a sparring partner for Ojiro. I suppose I could have asked Tokoyami, but if I was doing a favor for Shinso, I felt he could help me out. I just knew it was going to take a lot of work to get me to the point I could even compete. Thankfully Vlad allowed Shinso and myself to practice when it was his class's turn to use Gym Gamma.
As for Shinso's new costume, it was an 'All Hands on Deck' to get his costume put together, but his new bow and trick arrows were successfully tested with a few days to spare, and I will say the Purple and Black outfit seems to fit him. He's certainly going to be hard to spot in the dark. - Minoru Mineta
Notes:
Yeah Shinso is going to take full advantage of his archery talents for the licensing exams. Though the Brainwashing boy won't admit it, he and Mineta are becoming colleagues, if not friends.
This may not be a super-long chapter but I kinda want the licensing exams to start off on a new chapter.
As always, I'm looking forward to seeing constructive feedback.
