A.N: To clarify some things: this fic does occur in-universe, meaning that Ally was originally in-universe as well. Since she does come from Hawaii (which arguably does exist canonically in universe considering that California exists as well), she just never had first-hand experience with the Power Rangers up until she was conducted into Lightspeed. At least this time around, I'm not going for any 4th wall breaks or metaverse things or such. :)

"That's why I stopped you." Ally watched, astonished, as Captain Mitchell looked away from them. "I couldn't let you destroy my son." Yeah, she wanted to scoff, the son that almost killed my brother. As much as the others had begged her to reconsider, to look at it from his perspective, one that only was bloodthirsty and hungry for power over them… who else could it have been? The blaster marks left behind on their suits matched the ones that her dad had described to her, the ones that'd been on Leon.

Her only question now was why.

"That's not possible." Dana's words snapped Alyssa out of her mind numbing thoughts. "Ryan was killed in that car crash."

"No, Dana. He wasn't."

Something wasn't right. Well, many things weren't, in fact, right. For one, Captain Mitchell hadn't even thought about scolding Ally for hiding her newfound powers from them. For another thing, her dream was nearly a perfect match to that of the story their boss had told them. As if she'd been accessing someone's thoughts. Had they been Dana's? She wasn't sure, and wasn't ready to tell her roommate, either. Her friend, arguably her best friend, was already going through enough as it was.

So the next morning, Ally found herself seated in front of Mrs. Fairweather's lab station, her arm along with her morpher propped up on a testing table. "And how long have you been able to… to…"

"Boss people around?" She joked, but her smile died when Mrs. F glared at her. "Since Dana and I went to the volcano."

Mrs. Fairweather hummed in acknowledgement. "That was nearly three weeks ago already. Why didn't you say anything?" Ally shrugged.

"I didn't think anything of it. A part of me believed it was just an added power from my morpher. I mean, it did glow when I put it on for the first time." Mrs. F all but dropped her clipboard onto her desk, and Ally glanced at her, confused. "What?"

The scientist threw her hands into the air in defeat, rushed over to her computer and began typing madly. "Why doesn't anybody ever tell me things?" Ally waited as she ran the calculations, then printed out a report, shoving it in front of her face. She wasn't quite sure what all the words meant.

"Uh… in English?"

"We'd always known there was auxiliary power in this morpher in particular. We knew it would come in handy eventually, but the problem was, unlike with the others, we hadn't figured out a worthy candidate to use it."

"Until it chose me," Ally murmured, and Mrs. Fairweather nodded.

"Precisely. Because of that, we hadn't known how the auxiliary power would manifest itself, but apparently, now we do." She took the paper, stuffed it into a manila folder. "Ally, it looks like you have certain… persuasive abilities."

"I kinda figured."

Mrs. Fairweather sighed, plopped herself down in her chair. "Aren't you the least bit surprised about all of this?" Ally thought about it for a second. In less than six months, she'd seen monsters form out of comets, a monster turn into a tornado and then back into a monster…

"No. Not really."

"Well, I'll give you a simple breakdown anyway," Mrs. Fairweather began. "I'll need to run more tests, but it appears as if, when you speak in certain situations, your commands hold certain influence over people. But as we saw during your last usage of them in combat, your powers don't seem to work all the time." She clicked her pen open, pulled her notebook closer to her. "Do you have any idea what made it any different?"

She wasn't entirely sure, but she did have an idea, and as people like Mrs. Fairweather often repeated to Ally and her team, ideas were better than nothing at all. "It's like… like they only work when I really need them to." Ally frowned. "It's like I don't even have control of these powers at all. It's like they have control of me." (As most things were nowadays, including the fact that her morpher had chosen her, not the other way around.) "Every time I actually used them, I was practically begging for them to work. Not actively using them to my advantage." Mrs. F nodded as she scribbled away. "And, um, one more thing."

"Yes, Miss Sakamichi?"

"I think I might be getting prophetic dreams?" She barely dodged the pen that Mrs. F threw at her. "What was that for-" Ally couldn't even finish her complaining, since at that moment, the code red alarms started blaring. "Gotta go." She hopped down from her chair. "Bye, Mrs. F! Thanks for the check-up."

As she ran to join the others, she thought she could hear the scientist say, "Nobody ever tells me these things."

"It's the Titanium Ranger," one of the officers explained to them as they stalked through the main command room, their eyes glued to the viewing screen. And as much as she hated to give in to her emotions, Ally couldn't help but feel that familiar rush of anger. Adrenaline pumped through her veins, and she wished with all of her heart that she could face him, and could force him to give up what he knew.

That she could finally make him admit to what he did.

"Where's the captain?"

"He left without saying anything."

"You mean Captain Mitchell didn't tell anyone where he was going?" Joel asked, dumbfounded.

"That isn't like him," Carter agreed.

"We can't attack the Titanium Ranger," Kelsey argued, and Ally couldn't help but agree. Not only was he Captain Mitchell's son, Dana's older brother, but Ally herself needed answers. And they couldn't get those answers if he was dead.

"I second that. There's too much at stake," she agreed, but Chad turned to them, brow furrowed.

"But he'll destroy the city!"

"This is an emergency. We've got to do something." Ally would argue with the two guys, if she knew what to say to convince them. Thankfully, she observed as Carter turned to them, she wouldn't have to-

"Wait. Where's Dana?" She spun to where the blonde had been right behind her. Had been. Ally muttered a curse under her breath, ignoring the look of warning Carter gave her.

"She's gonna go confront him. We need to back her up."

Her small Toyota Camry was admittedly the worst vehicle they could've used to get to the scene. Maybe, Ally thought, they could configure it with some sirens or some shit to get them through traffic. People moved aside for them when they were in the Rescue Rover, after all- All thoughts of vehicle upgrades were wiped away when Ally spotted the Titanium Ranger, no, Ryan, with Dana's arms in his grip.

His blaster mere inches from her face.

"Get away from her!" Ally screamed, and he jolted up with a start, before kicking at Dana's stomach, leaving her curled on the ground.

"Are you okay?" She got the sense that Carter wasn't just asking that in a physical sense.

"Yeah, I'm fine. But…" They each followed her gaze as she stared after her brother as he ran, and before any of them could stop her, she stood, started limping away. "I've got to go after him."

"Wait," Carter murmured, rushing after her, "We're all coming with you."

"Okay." None of them could take another step forward, since just then, Vypra and another monster who Ally didn't recognize materialized in front of them.

"None of you are going anywhere," Vypra sneered, and another surge of irritation accompanied her words.

"Ready?"

"Lightspeed, Rescue!"

"It's now or never, Ally!" Mrs. Fairweather shouted over comms, and after a moment of being shocked at the scientist's use of her nickname, Ally knew exactly what she meant.

"Alright." She took a deep breath, focused on her objective: to clear the way to get Dana to her brother as fast as possible. "Step aside, Vypra." Both the monster and its master froze, the former trembling against her persuasive hold, while the latter merely shook it off. Ally felt the connection break, as if she'd had Vypra in a pair of mental handcuffs which she'd broken out of. Her opponent tilted her head, an astonished smile on her face.

"So it was you all along, wasn't it, Purple Ranger?"

"What are you talking about?" Chad shouted over at her, while Joel turned to Ally.

"Al, don't listen to her! Whatever scheme she's playing at, don't let it-" Her hold on the monster shattered, and Ally shook her head.

"I've lost my hold on them!" Then, before she could try to reestablish it, the monster charged.

While their new Megazord did allow them to take down their opponent much faster than usual, especially with all the circuits fixed, it didn't change the fact that flying into the air at full speed still freaked Ally out. This time, she hadn't screamed bloody murder while it was happening, but she still felt like doing it. (She didn't want to be subject to the teasing from the others after the fact, though, so she held it back.)

Something else she didn't want to do? Go with the others to face the man who put her brother in the hospital. It was terrifying, and she was terrified, she realized as she ran behind the others to where Ryan and Captain Mitchell had fallen. She wanted answers, that was true, but to truly face him and get them was something else entirely.

Without his suit, though, Ally thought he looked… normal. Just like they did, like a bunch of kids who just got sucked into this life. He definitely bore some similarity to Dana, but she figured the younger Mitchell sibling looked more like their mother, while Ryan looked more like Captain Mitchell.

How could he have done what he did?

Was he the one who had hurt her brother? It was hard to believe now. "I am so sorry, Ryan. I would've given my life a thousand times to save yours." He didn't listen to a word Captain Mitchell said, and Ally flinched, turned her head away. It felt wrong to look at this, as if they were intruding on a sacred moment. Footsteps scuffed the ground, and when Dana drew in a quick breath, as if she'd been punched in the stomach, Ally figured Ryan was walking away.

"No."

Ally was undoubtedly still angry, and if anything, now she was furious. Ryan couldn't walk away. Not when he had her to answer to. Not when he had a family to show him the love they couldn't as a child.

He couldn't walk away from this.

"After all these years… I can't lose you again. You're my son." Ally reached out, rested a hand on Dana's shoulder. There were no words adequate for this situation. Ryan didn't reply. Instead, he stared right at his sister as he unwound his morpher from his wrist, and dropped it to the dirt.

Her own morpher beeped then. "Ally, we've received word from the hospital." Mrs. Fairweather didn't sound happy. The news wasn't good.

"I copy, Mrs. Fairweather."

"I'm so sorry, Ally. They did everything they could. Leon didn't make it."

She didn't register that her knees had hit the ground until her hands were balled in the dirt, and her tears were splashing down, creating tiny puddles of mud. No one rushed to help her up, but if they had, Ally was fairly certain she would have screamed at them to let her go. Through her tears, she looked up at Ryan, whose face was nothing but emptiness. Not a single emotion showed through.

"Did you do it." She needed to know. "Tell me. Please."

"I did. I did it because I had to." Everything shattered, and she let out a scream, sobs wracking her body. Ally didn't even know if she wanted to kill him, to make him pay for what he'd taken from her. All she knew was that her brother was dead, and at the hands of Ryan Mitchell.

The only sign of remorse that the Titanium Ranger showed was a simple bow of his head, and then he was gone.
