Chapter 5
Olivia picked up the plates, "Are you okay?" Amanda explained it was just a bruise. "I mean in general. Something rattled you at the station. I lost you for a few." Amanda's face said something was wrong, but she didn't want to say it. "Well, you don't have to tell me, but I hope it's okay now." Amanda didn't talk and Olivia knew it wasn't okay. "You want to hang out with us today? It's zoo day and it is your town."
Amanda was surprised, "You don't even know me. You want me to hang out with your family?" Amanda couldn't believe it.
Olivia leaned closer, "Sure, why not." Amanda drove because she knew exactly where to go. They walked around the entire zoo. Olivia took tons of pictures. She watched Lucy and Noah walking hand and hand. Amanda told her she looked happy. "I am. Being a cop with an almost four year old, I feel like Lucy is raising him, not me."
Amanda had to ask, "Where is their dad? And why does she call you Liv?" Olivia didn't laugh. Lucy had brown hair and brown eyes, just like them. It was easy to think they were both Olivia's children.
Olivia's age didn't help, "Well, Lucy used to be my babysitter." Olivia told her Lucy wasn't her daughter and explained about her mom. "Noah's father is out of the picture. He doesn't even know I had him." She told Amanda about their relationship and he was an undercover agent.
Noah pointed to the gift shop, "Mommy! Manda! Yook!" He didn't want another stuffed animal, instead a toy plastic ones. Amanda bought every zoo animal they had, plus a case for them. Amanda took them to her favorite barbecue spot and Noah was knocked out by the time they got home.
Lucy hugged her, "He's out and I'm tired." You two enjoy your night." They were enjoying talking. The conversation was easy and light.
Amanda liked it, she always struggled with friends. "You know when I go back to New York, you'll have to visit or Noah will drive me nuts. You bought him toys today. Amanda laughed, but it was uneasy. Throughout the day she had somehow forgotten that Olivia didn't live here. "What's wrong?"
Amanda took a chance. "Are you my friend?" Olivia nodded and said she would like that. "My life hasn't been easy. It's not a fairy tale." Olivia responded hers definitely wasn't and not many people have a fairy tale life. "My dad used drugs, drank, and gambled our family's money away. He beat my mom on any given night. He raped her, I'm sure. There were nights I knew she didn't want him."
Olivia listened and wondered where she was going with all of this outpouring. "My dad was different with us. My younger sister is a reflection of both of them. She's all messed up and it's not her fault, she's grown now, but she is still my little sister. I did my own thing. I'm like the black sheep. I saw it all you know and I never wanted to be like them. I left right after high school, earned some college scholarships, and went to the academy."
Olivia offered some tea and made it while she listened. "I worked hard to get to where I am, so when people ask about age it makes me mad. When the male supervisors hit on me, I'm enraged. It doesn't help that I go both ways."
Olivia sipped her tea and didn't even blink. "That doesn't scare you? That I like men and women." Olivia shook her head, she didn't know she did until she saw Amanda that day.she told her about Alex. Maybe she had a thing for blondes. Amanda smiled, "You're definitely the sexiest I've ever seen. Does that scare you?"
Olivia smiled, "You don't scare me at all Amanda. I've never been with a woman, but I'd take a chance on you. Does that scare you?" Amanda blushed. "Hmm, there's my answer."
She shook her bangs from her blue eyes. "You're teasing me, I live here and you live in New York. Why are we even talking about this anyway?" Olivia didn't know. Amanda started the conversation for some reason. Olivia thought about what she said and so much had happened at home, she didn't know if she wanted to go back. Amanda made her actually question it in her head.
Olivia held up her hands, "Well, for right now, I think you were telling me what was wrong. Us being attracted to each other is not the problem, so what is Amanda?" Olivia was easy to talk to and Amanda never had anyone that she felt a connection before. It was all different.
Amanda sighed, "It's harder telling you now that I know you like me." Olivia had the spill-it look on her face. "Your a woman, have men tried to use sex to use you?" Olivia laughed and gave her plenty of examples. "Yeah but that's all work related, nothing personal." Amanda was nervous, "My sister Kim, is in trouble. She was picked up on check fraud. She was high and that's no excuse, but she's my sister. I helped her before, it was a light charge and she used my name again this time. I was just a beat cop. Captain Reynolds and Deputy Chief Patton called me into the office."
Olivia looked up, nothing about that sounded right. The Captain maybe, but a Deputy Chief wouldn't even be paying attention, unless he saw a cute blonde. Amanda's blue eyes turned sad. "I couldn't believe what they were saying. They wanted me to let them fuck me to get her out. They showed me pictures and someone beat her up. I told them no. Patton pushed me on the desk and stuck his hand down the front of my pants. He threw me on the floor, because I wasn't wet. They said I had to meet them at this hotel."
She passed Olivia her cell phone. It had messages rom Patton. Olivia thought they were complete idiots. It was proof. "That's what rattled me. He sent me a text that day before showing up." Olivia looked at her phone. "You give it up or we'll take it. Your choice. I don't take no for an answer." Amanda explained they had been coming by her apartment and scaring her, she didn't want to go home.
Olivia had to help her. "Amanda, are you telling me, so I can help you? Or do you just want some advice? I would never overstep." Amanda wanted help. She grabbed her phone, "Captain Cragen, I need your help." Amanda watched in horror as she told him the problem. "He's calling the Commissioner. It's about to be one big ass fallout."
Olivia walked in her bedroom and came back with a shirt and a blanket. "You're staying here tonight and spending the weekend with us. We have a Braves baseball game tomorrow. Olivia fixed the couch while she changed. Amanda stood there with Olivia's oversized shirt holding her dirty clothes, "You're too cute."
Amanda smiled, "Well, I was going for sexy. No one wants to be cute. Cute is for puppies." Olivia laughed, she thought Amanda was such a smart ass. Olivia told her to throw her clothes in the washer. Olivia put some more in to make a load. "Well, sleep well."
Olivia left to take her shower and thought about the cute blonde on her couch. She walked out to find her sitting on her bed, "Jesus Amanda, you scared the hell out of me." Olivia looked at her soft legs under the nightshirt.
Amanda giggled, "Sorry, but I forgot something." Amanda walked right up to her and kissed her on the lips. She pushed her tongue in her mouth and walked Olivia backwards to the bed. She continued kissing her as they fell on the bed. Amanda was on top of her and she kissed her bottom lip and sucked on it as she pulled away. "I couldn't let you go to bed thinking I was just cute. Did that kiss make me sexy?"
Olivia rolled her eyes, "Oh yeah, you definitely moved up the ranks with that." Amanda walked out and stopped at the door. She blew her a kiss and told her to dream of her. Olivia knew that was an easy request.
Saturday was fun, the highlight being the Atlanta Braves game. Olivia had no idea, Amanda was such a fan. She even knew some of the players. She turned in their mediocre seats for big time seats. They even met some players and Noah got a mitt and a signed baseball. Olivia was such a mom when Lucy's eyes were wide looking at the players. "Lucy, eyes over here!"
Amanda hit Olivia and told her to leave her alone. "His name is Peter Stone. He's only 20. Some hot shot rookie pitcher. Maybe I should introduce them." Olivia saw Lucy smiling and thought that's all she needed. Amanda was quick and she got his number and slipped it to Lucy.
They were enjoying Sunday in the park. Olivia nudged Amanda, "She's been texting that baseball player all day." Amanda just smiled at her matchmaking skills. Olivia's phone rang, she didn't recognize the number at all, "Hello?" Olivia listened. "Yes sir. We will both be in your office tomorrow at 7 AM." She looked at Amanda and smiled to ease her tension. "Thank you sir." Amanda wanted to know. "The Commissioner wants to see us first thing Monday morning."
