Chapter 8

Olivia was in shock. She blinked and Amanda was worried that she didn't feel the same. "I'm sorry for acting up. I want you to baby me and coddle me. I kinda like it. I feel protected. Liv, give me a chance please."

It was Olivia's turn to stop her babbling. "Come here." She climbed in the bed and pulled Amanda in her arms. She stroked her blonde hair as she rested on her chest. "I asked the Commissioner for a job in SVU." Amanda sat up. "He gave me the unit."

The Commissioner was cleaning house. She would have Amanda, Blake, and Reese. He wanted to know if Fin came with the deal, but Olivia had to say no. Olivia pulled her close to rest. "I told him I had to speak with Lucy and Noah first." Amanda nodded against her. "And I told him about us."

Amanda sat back up looking terrified. "I had to, because I didn't want it a secret. We have to be professional, but he doesn't have a problem with any of it." Olivia pulled her head back towards her body and stroked her hair gently.

Amanda couldn't believe what she was hearing. She didn't know why. She slowly blinked her eyes. The medicine for pain was making them heavier every second. "Liv, why are you leaving New York? That's your whole life." Olivia explained everything that happened in her life with her mother, her career, and her last partner." She kept checking to see if Amanda was asleep. "So you want to move?"

Olivia kissed her head, "I think it's time for a change. I've got Lucy and Noah. The apartment I own in New York could buy us a house, a big house." Amanda looked up questioning the "us" part. "Yes, us. Rest baby. I still need to talk to the kids."

Amanda was drifting and Olivia could tell by her voice as she asked about Fin. Before Olivia could explain she was asleep in her arms. Amanda slept well and was released the next morning. Fin, Lucy, and Noah had brunch waiting. They ate and talked. "Lucy, Noah, do you like it here?"

Noah was the first to open his mouth stuffed with pancakes, "Yeah mommy. I yuv it!" Lucy was older and very mature. She hesitated in her answer, "It's okay. Why?" Olivia had never heard that tone from Lucy. This wasn't the reaction she expected. Lucy was always easygoing.

Olivia looked at Amanda and Fin, then back to the kids. "I'm thinking about staying and taking a job here in SVU. I wouldn't do it without hearing your opinion." Noah gave her a thumbs up. "Luce, what about you?"

Lucy pushed away from the table, "Do whatever the hell you want. I don't care." They all watched her stomp away.

Noah let out a gasp, "Yuce! You can't say hell. Oops sawre mommy." Olivia was too shocked to giggle at him.

She looked at Fin, "Do you know what that is about? I didn't expect that." Amanda agreed especially since hearing her story and how much she loved them. "And Peter is here. She's head over heels."

Noah spoke with his mouth full, "She cry last night. Peter not nice." Olivia turned and instead of chastising him about talking with food in his mouth, she questioned him. "Why baby? What happened?" Noah swallowed and shrugged, repeating himself.

Olivia kissed his head and rubbed Amanda's shoulders. "Fin, the Commissioner asked if you came with the deal." Olivia winked at him and went to talk to Lucy.

Olivia didn't have to knock, her door was open. Lucy was laying across the bed on her stomach crying. She went to the side of the bed and knelt down. "Luce, talk to me. When I signed those papers, I agreed to be your mom. You've got to communicate with me. Is that what you still want?"

Lucy looked up and wiped her eyes, shaking her head. "And I mean communicate without cursing or we'll have a completely different conversation." Lucy sat up and Olivia sat beside her, "So, you don't want to live here. Why? What do you want? I'm here to listen." Olivia wasn't like her mother, if this was something she was against, she wouldn't do it.

Lucy never had this mom daughter relationship. "I want to be wherever you are. I thought I had more time with you. You like Amanda right?" Olivia was confused. She explained she did and Amanda was part of the reason, but not the entire reason. "You've been spending a lot of time with her. I just got you as a mom. I feel like I'm going to lose you like my mom."

Olivia didn't even think about that. Lucy was so mature, she forgot sometimes she was a kid that needed attention too. Olivia hugged her, "Luce, I'm so sorry. Look I have to work and you know the job takes a lot of my time, but I'll work on it and we'll make family time and me and you time. How's that?" Lucy smiled, then frowned. "What else Luce? Tell the truth."

Olivia didn't want to tell her what Noah said. Lucy was unsure, "I thought we were on vacation. I think Peter's cute, but if we stay, what if he wants to have sex?"

Olivia got her first real dose of parenting 101. "Luce, you haven't even been on a date. Talking on the phone doesn't mean sex." Lucy twisted her hands in her lap. "Luce?"

Lucy panicked, "Amanda help!" Amanda came running, wondering what was wrong for her to yell out. Amanda didn't have a clue what was happening and by looking at Olivia, she didn't either.

Lucy stood behind Amanda as she blurted out. "I've been sneaking out when you guys come home. We make out a lot." Olivia stood up and Lucy moved to the corner, sat down, and held her knees rocking. Olivia was upset, but this wasn't normal. Amanda thought the same.

Olivia relaxed and went into Sergeant Benson mode. "Luce, it's okay." Olivia used the back of her hand to rub her arm. It was a tactic when they were helping victims who were afraid of touch.

Her calm voice allowed Lucy to stop and look at her, "You aren't mad?" Olivia extended her hand and pulled her up gently. She and Amanda helped her to the bed.

They took turns talking to her. "Luce, we're adults and both of us will be here to protect you." Amanda agreed, adding in her love for her. "You don't get to sneak out, not without punishment." Lucy's face went pale. "Lucy, did your mom hit you?" Lucy looked at them and asked how they knew. "Baby, it's what we do. You know discipline doesn't mean hitting. We would never and you don't have to be afraid. If you went out and stole something, I never want you to be afraid to talk to us. We will help."

Olivia kissed her head. "Look, let's finish eating and we will talk about dating and sex since you're moving fast. No more sneaking out. You've been warned. Come on." They went back out and enjoyed the food. Lucy hugged Noah and apologized.

Afterwards Fin took Noah for some guy time while Amanda and Olivia talked to Lucy. Olivia started, "I don't like you sneaking out. Anything could have happened to you. What's going on, you would have never done this before?" Lucy frowned listening to Olivia's disappointment.

Amanda tried to help, "I get it. Peter is very sexy." Olivia let Amanda go, she was younger and Lucy opened up to her. Lucy explained that guys didn't really like her or pay attention to her. "He's your first real crush huh?" Lucy nodded.

Olivia watched Lucy's eyes sparkle when she talked about him. "Luce, you mentioned making out. How far did you go? Do you need birth control?" Lucy started breathing heavily. "Hey, look at me. Calm down, it's a question. Talk to us."

Lucy took a breath and sighed, "It was kissing and feeling. I'm not ready for sex, but we haven't talked about it. I'm scared. What if he doesn't like me because I say no?" Amanda immediately went into protection mode saying she wanted him over tonight for dinner. They all needed to talk. They both sat with her while she called.

Fin came back with a sweaty Noah. "Gross! Bath and nap." Fin picked him up and took him away. Lucy helped with dinner and was nervous about the entire situation. Fin asked Olivia when she was calling Cragen about her decision. "I haven't made the decision." She looked at Amanda helping Lucy. "Amanda said she would come to New York. I'm just not sure New York is for me anymore." Fin reiterated he would love her no matter what.

Noah woke up clean but grouchy. Olivia held him and they heard the door. Fin smiled, "I've got it!" He opened the door and saw a tall young man with short dirty blonde hair. Fin eyed him up and down. "At least you brought flowers. You're in trouble."

Lucy told Peter that her parents were upset. She had told him a lot and even that she thought Amanda would be around a while. "Yes sir. I understand. You're Fin right?" Peter extended his hand. Fin shook his hand and nodded. Peter walked in, "Hi everyone. Ms. Benson, Ms. Rollins, this is for you. He handed them a bottle of wine. "My teammate picked it up. I don't drink."

Olivia shook her head, "You shouldn't even have it in your possession and your teammate can get in trouble for giving it to you." Lucy frowned.

Peter just nodded. "Here Luce, these are for you." He handed her the bouquet of roses. He looked at Noah watching him. He was like her little big brother. "Hey Noah! I didn't forget you."

He took off his backpack and put it beside him on the couch. It was a Brave's backpack full of stuff. "Wow! Mommy, Yook!" He took everything out and tried on his jersey and baseball cap. Everything fit perfectly. It made Olivia smile.

They had dinner and after that they talked. Olivia and Amanda laid down the law. The sneaking out would stop immediately and they both needed to be honest if the relationship would continue. "I promise." Peter asked permission, "Can we go out for ice cream?"

Noah jumped up hearing that. Fin spoke, "Sure, I'm coming too!" Peter didn't protest at all, even though Lucy wanted him alone. Amanda told them to bring back mint chocolate chip. Once everyone was gone, it was quiet and peaceful.

Amanda pulled Olivia close, "Have you decided? You know I will come back with you. You don't have to move here for me." Amanda looked at her thinking. She kissed her to try and help. She and Olivia talked about everything. The pros and cons.

Olivia even called her lawyer to find out how this would change Lucy's adoption. When she learned it wouldn't because she was considered an adult. After she called Cragen. That was a hard pill to swallow, he was completely shocked. "Cap, I'm sorry. I don't feel like it's for me anymore." He was upset and his tone made that clear. He also didn't have a say. She looked at Amanda, "Well, I made my decision, we're moving to Atlanta."
