Unexpected Winds
Chapter Four
"How's this?" Kagura asked after she put on a dark blue button up sweater over the red sleeveless dress. Originally the end of the dress was just passed her knees, but she let Jakotsu altered it a little after he had begged her to let him. Now the end of the dress reaches a few inches above her knees.
Jakotsu circled around her as he looked at her from head to toe. "To think something that simple works." Jakotsu muttered. "Leave the sweater unbutton, it looks better that way."
"By the way Jakotsu how long do you plan on staying?" Kagura asked as Jakotsu started messing with her hair.
"Just until Sesshomaru gets here. I wanted to make sure you don't go out on your date in jeans like last week with karaoke." Jakotsu said.
Kagura rolled her eyes. It didn't matter how many times she told him that karaoke was for Kanna and Rin, Jakotsu still insisted that it was a date. After Jakotsu put Kagura's hair up in a braid bun and did her make up, they went downstairs into the living room. It was still a few minutes before Sesshomaru was supposed to arrive.
"Hey Muso, whatcha reading?" Jakotsu asked the moment he spotted Muso on the couch reading a book.
"The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." Muso said showing the book cover. "I have to do a report on it."
"That sounds familiar somehow." Jakotsu said scratching his head, sitting next to Muso on the couch.
"It should, it's a well-known fairy tale. Not to mention, we had to do that very same book report when we were in Muso's grade." Kagura pointed out. "Remember when Genbu didn't do his report and try to take mine out of my bag."
"Oh yeah, I remember you kicking him in the balls and him falling to the floor crying and the rest of the class didn't rat you out because everyone hated him." Jakotsu said while laughing as he recalled that memory.
"Really." Muso asked interested. "Did you do that Kagura-Nee?"
"He wouldn't stop looking through my bag after I told him not to. Not to mention he called me a bitch after I told him to stop and tried to take my bag back. He also said I should take a zero for one assignment because he needed it more than I did." At that moment Kagura heard a knock on the door. She quickly went to the door, putting on a pair of low black heals and answered the door. Sesshomaru stood in the doorway all dressed up in white slacks with a light red button up dress shirt and white jacket. "I'm leaving." Kagura called out as she walked out of the house
"Have a good time." Jakotsu called out. "I want to hear every juicy detail when you get back." Jakotsu winked just as Naraku was coming down the stairs giving Jakotsu a dirty look.
Kagura shut the door behind her shaking her head and then followed Sesshomaru to his car. "Thanks, you didn't have to do that." Kagura said when Sesshomaru opened the car door for her.
"It would be an insult not to open the door for a beautiful woman such as yourself." Sesshomaru said, he could see her blush at his comment that threw her off guard as he shut the car door.
The ride to the restaurant was a silent one, except for the music from the radio. The moment Kagura stepped into the restaurant, she was amazed by the mood of the place. The restaurant was a bit dim, but with plenty of light enough to see. On the ceiling there were string of lights that looked like stars in the dimmed restaurant. Soft music can be heard in the background.
Kagura and Sesshomaru were met by a waitress who led them to one of the small round tables. On the table was a white table cloth on it and in the center of the table was a flower vase with flowers in it. From what Kagura could see, there were different combinations of flowers in each vase. The one on their table was a mixed of roses and lilies. The table was preset with two small plates and silverware on top a folded white cloth napkin. By each plate was a menu ready for them.
Kagura and Sesshomaru told the waitress their drink order when asked. Kagura took a look at the menu. The prices on the menu were way more than she used to seeing, but then again this is the first fine dine restaurant that she's ever been in. Mainly because she couldn't afford to eat in a place like this. Sesshomaru must have seen the way Kagura was studying the menu before telling her not to worry about the price. That she should pick anything that she wanted. That helped ease Kagura a little, but when the waitress came with their drinks and asked for their order Kagura panicked a little and ordered something that she wanted to try instead of something that was a bit cheaper. Sesshomaru ended up ordering the same thing.
"This place really is beautiful." Kagura commented after the waitress left.
"It is. I'll have to thank my stepmother for the recommendation." Sesshomaru said.
"Your stepmother?" Kagura asked confused.
"Yes, she's my father's second wife." Sesshomaru said seeing the confused look on Kagura face. "They met about a year after my mother passed."
"I'm sorry." Kagura said.
"Don't be. She passed away when I was only a baby. My stepmother raised me as her own and treated myself no different from Inuyasha and Rin." Sesshomaru paused for a few seconds. "This is their special place when they go out on their anniversary. It's where they had their first date."
"That's sweet." Kagura smiled. She can see why. The atmosphere of this place was very romantic and relaxing. As they waited for their food, they talked about school. Sesshomaru being three years older than she was, was currently attending Meido University. She also learned that he had attended the same high school and that he had the same homeroom teacher that she currently has.
The topic eventually went to universities entrance exams when the food arrived at the table. "Have you decided what university that you want to take the entrance exam for?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Yes, I have." Kagura nodded. As far as she knew, at least half of her classmates in her year hadn't decided yet which university they want to go to while she had already had her heart set on where she wanted to go to. Kagura took a bite of her food. She was surprise how good it tasted. "I've always wanted to go to Midoriko University." Midoriko University was a women university located three hours from where she lives. The university was founded ten years ago by one of Kagura's favorite authors Midoriko.
"That's a good school." Sesshomaru commented. "A friend of mine highschool is going there as well." Eventually the topic went to family. Sesshomaru was surprise to learn that Kagura was one of eight children. Even more surprised to learn that Kagura's mother was expecting her ninth child.
Kagura was half expecting him to be disgusted by the fact she has many siblings. One to three, maybe even four children was normal in a household. Anymore than that is a lot. Sesshomaru showed no signs of disgust unlike some of her neighbors Kagura had seen looking at her house in disgust and heard them make fun of her parents for having so many children.
"Must be hard to study at home with that many siblings." Sesshomaru joked and then grinned. "And I thought Inuyasha was loud enough."
Kagura laughed. She didn't have to imagine. She knew Inuyasha. Sometimes when there was any kind of ruckus at school, half the time Inuyasha would surely be involved.
When they were done eating, paid and left, Sesshomaru drove them to the movie theater, where they bought their tickets to the movie Beyond the Looking Glass. After getting their drinks and snacks, Kagura and Sesshomaru found and sat in their seats waiting for the movie to start. The movie Beyond the Looking Glass was based on a book by Midoriko about a young woman named Rumiko who found herself transported to another world through a mirror her grandfather gave her. The character Rumiko goes on an adventure with group of people she befriends along the way to find the legendary jewel of souls to save the world so she can one day return home to her grandfather.
When the movie ended, instead of going back to the car, they decided to walk along the river not too far from the movie theater. "I'm surprised Jakotsu hasn't followed us tonight." Kagura said quickly looking around her. "Unless we can't see him." She mostly muttered to herself. It wouldn't surprise her that he was following them.
"Don't forget to add Bankotsu with him." Sesshomaru said. "Then again I didn't tell him where I had planned on taking you. So, unless they followed us from your house, I think we're safe."
Kagura nodded. After walking a few minutes, Sesshomaru quietly reach over and slipped his hand into hers. After a while, Kagura noticed that the air had begun to turn chilly as she began to shiver.
"You're cold." Sesshomaru suddenly stopped and took off his jacket and placed it on Kagura's shoulders. He placed his warm hand against her cheek. Sesshomaru leaned close enough to where Kagura could smell the popcorn on his breath. In that instant, Kagura could feel Sesshomaru's lips upon her own. While Kagura was surprised at first for a second, she soon found herself kissing him back.
The moment Sesshomaru pulled back, Kagura wouldn't be surprised if her cheeks, if not her entire face were bright red and not because of the chilly air. That was her first kiss, while she had hope Sesshomaru would kiss her, she didn't expect to feel what she felt. His warm lips on hers. The taste of salt and butter from the popcorn. A feeling she couldn't explain at the moment, but all she could say was she like it and missed it the moment Sesshomaru pulled away.
"I should get you home." Sesshomaru said. "It's getting late."
"Wait." Kagura could hear herself say. She wanted to kiss him again. To feel his lips against hers again. She closed the gap between them, this time she started the kiss. By the time either of them pulled away from the second kiss, Kagura was gasping for breath.
Twenty minutes later, Sesshomaru pulled up in front of Kagura house. The light from the living room could be seen while the rest of the house was dark.
"I had fun." Kagura said looking at Sesshomaru as she unbuckled herself. She had already given his jacket back to him after they had returned to the car from their walk.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it." Sesshomaru said and Kagura smiled. Just before Kagura got out of the car, they kissed for the third time that night.
