Unexpected Winds
Chapter Five
"We got the gig." Jakotsu excitedly said walking into Kagura's room. Kagura was putting hers and Kanna's clean clothes away. "We finally got the gig." Jakotsu's was practically jumping around while he kept repeating we got the gig over and over again until Kagura threw a stuffed toy at Jakotsu hitting him in the stomach.
"I heard you the first time." Kagura said as she finished putting her clothes away. "It's about time. So when is it?" Kagura said curiously.
"Saturday night at The Dream Castle." Jakotsu said finally calming down. "You're coming right? You better come, you promised me. Is your boyfriend coming too?"
"I do have to work that morning, i'm not sure about Sesshomaru though, but I can make it." Kagura said.
The look on Jakotsu's face went from excitement to disappointment. "You have got to be kidding me." Jakotsu said dramatically. "It's the first day of summer vacation of our last summer vacation of highschool. We are supposed to relax and hang out. Not get a job and work. Now summer's ruined." Jakotsu fell backwards onto the bottom bunk of the bed. "When do you start?"
"I start today. You do remember I worked last summer and we did hang out a lot, right?" Kagura asked.
"Yes, but this year is different." Jakotsu said. "You have a boyfriend, I have my band and my fashion and let's not forget that once you get accepted by Midoriko University, you're going to move and we won't be able to see each other like we used to."
Annoyed, Kagura picked up the stuffed toy she threw at Jakotsu earlier and threw it at him again. "Don't be dramatic." Kagura said rolling her eyes. "There's no certainty that i'll get in yet." All Kagura can do is study hard and hope she gets a high enough score on the entrance exam to be accepted. "Also, did you forget our usual beach trip at the end of the summer vacation?"
"Of course you'll get in." Jakotsu said and smiled. "And no. I thought with everything going on, you wouldn't want to do the trip this year."
"Actually I was thinking about the trip last night." Kagura said. "I was thinking..."
"Nee-San." Kanna said coming into the room with a worried expression on her face.
"What is it Kanna?" Kagura asked noticing the worried look on her little sister's face. "What's the matter?"
"There's this woman downstairs looking for Goshinki Nii-San but she wouldn't believe Muso Nii-San when he told her that Goshiniki Nii-San was at work. She's demanding that someone get him or she's going to look around the house herself."
Kagura nodded as she quickly went downstairs to the front door which was still open and the woman was standing in the door way waiting impatiently arguing with Muso.
"Who do you think you are?" The woman demanded much to Kagura's confusion. "I asked for Goshinki. My boyfriend." The woman looked from Muso to Kagura with a sour look on her face when she finally noticed Kagura.
"He's not here." Kagura said. "He's at work, i'll give him the message that you came to visit."
"Do you think i'm a fool." The woman said trying to intimidate Kagura. "I know you're not going to tell him I was here. You just want to be with him. Just so you know it is I he will chose in the end to be his wife. And once i'm his wife i'll..."
"Stop right there" Kagura raised an eyebrow annoyed at this woman. "I don't care who Goshinki Nii-San spends time with. Like I said, i'll give him the message that you came. But for now please leave." Kagura started trying to get her out of the entrance way so she can close the door.
"I'm not going anywhere." The woman screeched not wanting to leave, instead was trying to push her way in, but Kagura wasn't in the mood for it now. She also didn't have time. She had to leave for work soon. Then a thought hit her. "Hey there he is." Kagura feign excitement and then confusion. "Why is he running away? Goshinki Nii-San," Kagura called out.
"What? Where?" The woman said and than ran in the direction that Kagura pointed to yelling out his name.
Kagura shut and locked the door the minute the woman left. "If she comes back, don't let her in. Keep the door locked until mom gets home from the doctor."
"Thank you Kagura-Nee," Muso said. "Did you really see Goshinki Nii-San?"
"No I just made that up." Kagura said walking into the living room. "It was the only way to get her out of the house."
"What a bitch, thinking she can come into a stranger's home like she owns the place." Jakotsu said coming into the living room. "Hey Muso." Jakotsu rubbed the top of Muso's head.
"Hey Jakotsu-San." Muso shook his head in a playful manner to remove Jakotsu hand from his head. "You don't have to rub my head like i'm a child." Muso stuck his tongue out at Jakotsu while Jakotsu poked Muso in the forehead.
Kagura picked up the phone and called Byakuya hoping he was on lunch break yet. Thankfully he was when he answered. Kagura told him what had just happened and how she handled the situation. Kagura was relieved when Byakuya told her that he would get a hold of Goshinki and get everything straighten out. After that she hung up the phone. A minute Kagura heard the door open and her mother was putting her keys back in her purse.
"I'm home." Kaguya said, carrying a shopping bag into the living before Muso took it from her to take to the kitchen.
"Welcome home. How was the appointment?" Kagura asked.
"Everything's going alone nicely." Kaguya said patting her stomach. "Though my doctor did say take it easy considering my age. By the way, isn't this your first day at work?"
Kagura nodded. "I'm leaving soon. There something I want to tell you." Kagura told Kaguya about the woman who wanted to see Goshinki and wouldn't leave until Kagura tricked her. She also told her mother that she'd called Byakuya and let her know what he told her. Kaguya thanked Kagura for letting her know what went on.
A few hours later, Kagura was at her job at Fujimori Convenience Store. The manager Kanade was training Kagura on the register and helping with customers and other responsibilities around the store. Kagura liked Kanade. She was smart and kind and took her time to train her. She didn't look down at Kagura as the last manager did at her old job she had last summer. He had barely trained her and expected her to know everything on her first day. The only reason Kagura made it through it all last summer was because she barely saw the manager.
"How are you liking it here so far Kagura-San?" Kanade asked, they were both at the counter waiting for a customer to be rung up.
"Well, I like it better than my old job last summer." Kagura said and then admitted that she already liked Kanade better than her old manager and how much of a jerk he was to those below him.
Kanade gave a small laugh. "Reminds me of my first job. I had a manager like that, well a few. When I became the manager here, I vow not to become like them. My view is if you treat an employee fairly, they would reward you with loyalty. But you also need to be stern with at time if you come across an employee who will take advantage of you." Both of them giggled softly.
"Welcome," Kagura said when she saw someone entered the store. A couple minute later, the customer came up to the counter with a few items. Kagura rung up the items and told the total to the customer who then paid. "Have a nice day." Kagura then rung up the next customer who came up to the counter.
"Kagura-San thank you for your hard work." Kanade said at the end of Kagura shift after Kagura changed out of her work uniform and into her regular clothes. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Kagura nodded. "See you tomorrow." Kagura said leaving the convenience store. It was starting to get dark. Kagura walked to the train station where she bought her ticket and rode the half hour train to her stop.
Kagura was surprised when she got home, the woman who as looking for Goshinki earlier was now in the living room on the couch watching TV with Goshinki next to her with his arms around her shoulders.
Hungry, Kagura figured if she was quick, she could get past them without incident so she can eat. Kagura started walking through the living room, but as she passed the couch, the woman quickly got up and grabbed Kagura by the arm.
"You bitch, how dare you trick me." The woman grabbed Kagura hair causing Kagura to yelp in pain. "You just want him to yourself. How dare you walk into my boyfriends house like you own the place. Just because you managed to seduce him to sleep with you doesn't mean that he's going to dump me for you. Get out of here." The woman tried to pulled Kagura out.
"Let go of me you bitch." Kagura grabbed the woman arm and dug her nails in just enough to get the woman to let go and pushed her away from her.
At that moment Byakuya came running into the living room. "What the hell is going on?" Byakuya quickly grabbed the woman who attempted to go after Kagura again. Meanwhile, Goshinki didn't move one inch from where he was sitting. "Nii-San calm your girlfriend down and get her out of here." Byakuya demanded.
"Why?" Goshinki sounded annoyed. "It's Kagura's fault, she shouldn't have started it in the first place. I have every right to bring Yura here anytime I want."
"I didn't, I was passing through when she attacked me" Kagura was pissed that Goshinki witnessed the whole thing and still blamed her for starting it when she was only defending herself.
"Nii-San, people are trying to sleep." Byakuya continued holding back Goshinki's girlfriend.
"THAT'S BITCH ISN'T GOING TO TAKE MY BOYFRIEND." Yura yelled. "SHE'S THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO LEAVE."
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE. I'M TRYING TO SLEEP." Naraku screamed coming into the living room. He was tired and needed to get up early in the morning. Yura stopped yelling when she heard Naraku. She put a hurt look on her face. "I was minding my own business when this girl came in and attack me for spending time with Goshinki-San. She accused me of stealing Goshinki-San away from her. That he was going to marry her and I should get out of here." Yura wiped a fake tear off her face.
Kagura's jaw dropped as she couldn't believe the lies that was coming out of her mouth. Kagura looked at her father to see that he wasn't buying her act. Kagura could see it in his face that he was pissed off for being woken up.
"Kagura go to your room." Naraku told her. Kagura wanted to tell him that she wanted to get something to eat, but based on the serious pissed off tone of his voice, Kagura knew she shouldn't say anything. Kagura ran out of the living room and into her room.
"Nee-San what's going on?" Kanna asked as Kagura entered the room. Kanna was laying on the top bunk of the bed.
Kagura closed the door. She could hear her father yelling downstairs, but couldn't make out what was being yelled as when she shut the door, it muffled the yelling. "Don't worry about it Kanna." Kagura reached up to the top bunk and rubbed Kanna's hair for a second. "You should get back to sleep."
Kanna nodded. "Goodnight Nee-San?"
Kagura smiled. "Goodnight Kanna." Kagura laid down on her own bed. The muffled yelling soon died out. She was wondering what was going on downstairs. Was Yura still lying about going after her? Kagura had never hurt anyone unless it was provoked. A few minutes later, the door to her bedroom opened to reveal Byakuya.
"You awake?" Byakuya asked softly as to not wake Kanna up.
"Yeah." Kagura replied getting out of bed and meeting Byakuya at the door. "What's going on?" Kagura asked softly as they went downstairs.
"Nii-San and his girlfriend are gone. Gone to her place. Dad made sure of it." Byakuya said as they passed through the living room and straight into the kitchen. "I can't believe that woman believed you wanted to sleep with Nii-San."
Kagura involuntary gagged at the thought. As Kagura made her dinner, she told Byakuya exactly what happened before he came into the living room.
"Well chances are she won't be around much longer. You know Nii-San as well as I do. Once he gets bored with a girl, he moves on to a different girl. Anyways, how was your first day of work?" Byakuya asked after he and Kagura sat down at the table where Kagura ate her dinner and talked about her first day of work.
