Dumbledore was processing this information. Random girl, news story, muggle news story, people mad at him, too big to cover. He asked, "Minerva, do you still have that newspaper?"
She nodded and he stretched his palm out. She slapped the newspaper into his hand. He sat down to scan for the mention of a muggle girl, he figured find her, find Harry.
Petunia did not like this and her amusement turned to fierce annoyance. "What are you doing? This isn't your living room. You can not stroll in like you own the place then sit down with the newspaper. I've answered your questions, get out!"
Dumbledore answered the question, "I am reading the news story like you suggested."
She huffed and started harassing Dumbledore with pointed words to try and push him out. Minerva just watched the sight. People rarely spoke to him like that and she was so upset she didn't even try to defend the man she respected for years.
Dumbledore looked Petunia right into the eyes and scanned her mind to see if she truly didn't know the girls name. "Let's go Minerva, the girls name is Maria Otto and lives in the same neighborhood as they did."
Petunia looked alarmed and scared. "How did you find out? Did you already know?! CAN YOU READ MINDS!"
Minerva changed into a cat and Dumbledore put on the invisibility cloak.
Petunia knew they going to leave her alone. "Answer me you old man!"
Dumbledore uncovered his head and it looked like it was floating. "Sorry we can't stay longer, but it's time for us to go."
When they left they dropped the muffling charms and heard Petunias aggravated exclamations. Everyone heard them. She could have screamed at the cat leaving so people knew she was yelling at something, no, she went on about freaks and their powers and stupid mind readers.
Dumbledore and Minerva continued on their way out being as quiet as possible. When they got outside, they apparited to the Dursley's living room. No one was there and they knew no one would see.
They now knew the general area where Harry Potter was. Wait, Dumbledore wanted to facepalm. How could he forget Mrs. Figg. He lead the now human Minerva to his spy's house.
When he got there, he tried to make sure he didn't step on any tails and all the cats kept batting at him. But of course they loved Minerva, she crouched down to pet them and she was swarmed.
He left her with the cats because he didn't need her to keep pestering him about how she was right and he was wrong. "I get it, I get it." He didn't want her to hear whatever Mrs. Figg answer was.
She noticed him trying to get away and her favorite cat she picked up and continued to pet. She gave Dumbledore a glare that any student of hers would have withered at but the effect was a tad ruined with the purring cat in her arms.
He knocked. They were greeted by a batty old woman.
Her eyes lit with confusion at seeing her, what would she call him, "old friend." She asked, "What are you doing here Albus?"
Minervas eyebrows rose. She didn't know anyone called him by his first name.
Dumbledore spoke, "Don't Albus me, you haven't been doing your job, why haven't I heard about the Dursley's being arrested." Such a incompetent woman, her only job was to watch that family. That's it, nothing else. Her house it paid, she is sent money for food, and bonuses around the holidays on top of her retirement plan.
She said, "I tried but owls don't come near my house and I can't summon the night bus to get to the owelry."
He tried to think of something to say. He tried to remember their plan for communications but couldn't.
Minerva saw Dumbledore grasping for straws. She said, "So, if I'm hearing this right, you dropped him off at a house, in the middle of the night, with a horrible family with only her to watch over him but no way of communicating with her leaving you terribly out of the loop for around eight years with Merlin knows what being done to Harry, an innocent child and boy-who-lives, and when we find out you didn't even think of going to your spy's house because you knew how ineffective she must be for you to completely forget about her. Did I get it right, I'm pretty sure I did." Minerva has no clue how Dumbledore let her get that all out without trying to defend himself. She turned to Mrs. Figg. "I'm sorry for the insults but this whole situation has me a bit on edge." She handed over the cat leaving behind fur all over her clothes. "Can you do is a favor and lead us to the Ottos house? We believe that is where Harry Potter is."
She nodded and started to walk towards her neighbors. She knew Harry Potter was there because she wasn't incompetent. Her cats followed her in a neat line and the one still in her arms. If Minerva was in a more pleasant mood, she might have considered becoming a cat and joining the parade. She thought it would be fun and stored that image away for later when all this is over and done with.
Dumbledore followed without saying a word. He knew whatever he said will be argued. He believed in what he did and knew his intentions were good.
As soon as Mrs. Figg pointed out the house, she left along with her cats. One or two stayed behind for a second to head bump Minerva but went to catch up with the others. After this they knew were going to be fed.
Minerva knocked being very used to doing this to people it felt natural. Dumbledore stood behind her.
A little head popped in the window with brown eyes and left to be replaced with one with green eyes. Green eyes, Harry.
From inside they heard a yell of, "Dad" and "Mr. Ot-wait no-Dad," come from inside.
A man answered the door with a girl and Harry Potter standing behind him.
