Finding Happiness Ch. 4

Gemma was angry, being called by Luna so early because that dumb bitch was noising around things that she had no business in. "Stupid bitch." She muttered to herself.

Clay heard his wife muttering, "Who's a stupid bitch?" he asked.

Turning her head towards his voice, "Fucking Tara. Seems like she cornered Luna on her way out the door and questioned her about Tristen and the club. She's on her way here to give me more details off the phone."

Clay saw red, "Nosy gash. Juice is trying to see what or who she has a restraining order against, perhaps we can use that to get her under control. If not, I'll do what needs to be done, Jax be damned."

Gemma would normally try to talk Clay down, but Gemma was tired of this bitch interfering with her family. She broke Jax when they were about 17, now she's running from someone and thought that she could come home and have Jax fix for her. Gemma would be damned if she let that manipulative bitch put her family in danger. "Before we start to panic or anything, let's find out what's up first. Like you're always telling me, don't start fires where there isn't any."

Clay nodded in agreement; he wasn't going to worry until he needed to. Turning back towards the bedroom, he went to get ready for his day, he needed to head to the clubhouse right after and update the guys if there was anything from this impromptu meeting.

Luna carefully knocked on the dark wood door, she wasn't sure what the protocol was for going to the President of the Clubs home. She didn't have to wait too long before the door opened, standing there was a very put together Gemma. Impressive. Not even 8am and looking ready to kick ass.

Gemma looked down at the young woman in the front entry way of her home. "Come on in, coffee is on the table." With that Gemma turned around and walked back towards her kitchen. As soon as she hit the kitchen, she indicated for Luna to take a seat. "So what did Dr. Bitch have to say?"

Luna blinked rapidly, well at least she doesn't beat around the bush. Sitting down at the table, Luna looked over at Gemma, "Well Happy came by the hospital early this morning, I guess he wanted to check on Tristen, he said that business was handled left. Nothing more was discussed nothing more was asked. Well Tara saw him leave, and I shut the door. As I was leaving the hospital she was waiting on my truck, asking why he was there, did I send him to kill her attacker. I told her that I didn't know why he was there, because I didn't ask. After that I jumped into my truck, called you, and now I'm here." She wasn't sure why Gemma wanted to talk to her at the house, because this could have been discussed on the phone, but she didn't want to piss of the Queen.

Gemma put a cup of coffee in front of the young blonde. Sitting down, "That girl has a feeling of self-importance that needs to be addressed." Before she could say anything else, Clay came out of the room fully dressed and wearing his kutte. "Hey baby, so Tara's asking questions about the SONs being involved with Tristen's attacker."

Rubbing his face, he looked over at the young woman, "Did you say anything to her about showing up at the clubhouse?"

Looking directly at him, "No sir, I didn't mention to anyone, as soon as I repeated Tristen's story I went back to the hospital and stayed with her all night, spoke to her mother about getting counselling, walked to my truck, Tara asked her questions, I told I didn't know what or why or how, which is true, and called Gemma, that's it. I promise I have no desire to get into business that is not mine, I don't want to know anything, and even if I did, I wouldn't say anything."

Clay and Gemma shared a look, over the many years of this life, they got good at reading people and things around them, while they weren't going to include her in things about the club, they could trust that she wasn't going to say anything, plus there wasn't anything for her talk about. So, there wasn't any risk of exposure. But now that Tara decided that she wanted to get nosy in Club business it was important to get Jax on board, she was dangerous, and anything she might know would put the club in a delicate position. Unfortunately, Hale had a hard on for the doc, so she couldn't just disappear at least not in an obvious way. This was a complication that the club didn't need.

Watching her husband absorb the information was almost painful, Clay wasn't a dumb man, but he like most of the guys assumed because they were women, they weren't super useful, but Gemma wasn't an idiot, she knew everything that happened within the club, she was the gate keeper for all the secrets. Soon enough, when her husband stepped down and Jax took over, she needed someone that would be able to handle the club and make sure that they stayed a family, Luna seemed like she could fit the bill.

She waited patiently for the two of them to either say something, or tell her to do something, it was quiet and a little uncomfortable, but Luna knew that they were weighing pro's cons, and depending on where they landed, Luna was probably going to be told to stay away from the club, to limit any exposure. That worked for her, not that she had any issues with the club, but unless she was directly involved, she was perfectly happy being ignored by them all.

Clay looked over at the girl, he was about to ask her what she thought about anything, but soon enough her phone was ringing, he watched her face, she seemed concerned. "You need to get that?" he gruffed.

Her caller ID read the hospital. "It's work. Do you mind?" Once she got a quick nod, she put the call on speaker so that they knew that she wasn't trying to hide anything.

"Hello."
"Luna, It's Sharon, how are you doing this morning?"
"I'm doing OK, how can I help you?"
"Actually, I'm calling because Tristen Oswald is being discharged, and she'll be on her way home, but her mother wanted to know if you would swing by her place later this afternoon to check on her. You've made quiet an impression with the young girl."
Luna let out a sigh of relief, it wasn't something that she was expecting, but glad it wasn't any more drama.
"That would be fine, I don't have their address, so if you can forward that over, that would be helpful."
"Of course, my dear. I'll send it over, figured you'd be there around 3ish, give you a little time to rest."
"Sounds good to me, Thank you for your call Sharon."

With that they disconnected the call. Luna looked over at older couple. Gemma had a small smirk on her face, "Seems like Karen wants you to take care of her little girl. You good with that?" she asked.

Shrugging her shoulders, "Even if I wasn't I'd still do it, Oswald is a huge donor to the hospital. VIPs tend to get special treatment. Nothing that I'm not use to from Chicago." She answered.

Clay understood, he was one of the most recognized people in town, but he had a dark cloud of shade, Oswald was on the other end of that spectrum, he was the local boy that pretty much owned the town. It was funny; last night Oswald came down from the top of hill to run in the muck with the outlaw. Clay wouldn't admit it anyone, but it made him feel good that someone so clean needed the dirt that the outlaw could provide. Turning his attention to the young woman in front of him, he knew that she wasn't going to say anything, so there was no need to scare her, but he was fairly certain that she doesn't scare too easily. "OK, well you go handle your business, we'll handle ours, just keep Gemma updated if anything changes with Tara, if you do that, we have no issues." He extended his hand.

Grabbing his hand. "Understood." Taking a moment to look over at Gemma, "I'll call you if anything pops up, and thank you for the coffee." Carefully standing up, Luna took her leave and headed to her home, as soon as she walked in the house, she quickly locked up and went straight to bed, she was exhausted, and was ready for some rest. It didn't take more than 5 minutes to pass out. Drifting off to a peaceful sleep.

Happy was sitting around the table at church, turns out Tara saw him at the hospital and started questioning Luna. His blood was boiling, he wanted to go handle the good doctor, he didn't want her speaking to any members of the club, but damn sure didn't want her to be bothering Luna. Looking over at the Prez and VP, he wanted to know what was going to be done, especially from Jax, everyone knew that she was his first love, and that he had a horrible time dealing with their breakup. Lucky for him, he didn't have to be the one to voice his displeasure at the new development. Tig, Opie, and Chibs did that for him. It was Juice that sealed her fate for the club.

"I uh finished unsealing her restraining order, seems like she was dating an ATF agent, Kohn, things got complicated she got the restraining order. From what I can see, she came back because she thinks that Jax will protect her from the Fed." Juice looked around the table, the rage that was coming off the members would have shaken just about anyone, but it was Jax that was at his boiling point.

He looked around the room, "I'm sorry, I haven't talked to her in years, I don't know what she thinks is going to happen, but I promise you boys, no matter what, I'm keeping myself away from her. She is dead to me, and I will not risk some bitch causing issues with my family or my club."

Clay was happy, his son was finally waking up to what was truly important. "That's good enough for me, but Jax if she becomes a bigger problem, we will discuss more permanent solutions." Looking around the table, he could see that the rest of the club was on board with it. Slamming the gavel down, called the end of Church.

As the guys piled out into the bar, Happy made his way towards his bike. He needed to go for a ride, his thoughts have been filled with a sexy little blonde and he needed to figure out what the fuck any of that meant. He saw Gemma packing herself up, she was getting ready to head to the hospital to sit with Abel. If he couldn't wrap his head around this shit, perhaps talking to Gemma would give him an idea of what was going on.

Luna was sitting in Tristen's room, the young girl was doing much better, she even had a smile on her face, her mother explained that she called the councilor, and she had an appointment first thing tomorrow morning. The two sat there in her room for about an hour, talking about anything and everything, but soon enough, the pain meds that the young girl was on kicked in and soon enough she was asleep.

As she left the home, Karen thanked her again and again, soon enough Luna made her way through town, she was starving. She really wasn't in the mood for drive-thru, so she stopped at the diner again. Laughing at the irony, these people must think she can't cook because she is here so much. Walking towards the counter, taking the time to look over the menu, she settled on a BLT, something simple and easy. Sitting with her back to the door, she truly wasn't paying attention.

"Little girl." A deep voice rasped out behind her.

Turning her head, she could see that he was standing over her, his eyes were dark and focused on her face. She didn't know what to say to him, she spoke to him a total of 2x. Looking into his eyes, "Good evening." She felt him sit right down next to her.

"What you are doing here little girl, don't have a home?" he questioned.

Kinda of snorting into her drink. "I was thinking that the ladies here probably thought the same thing."

He couldn't help but smirk down at her, before he could continue with small talk the waitress came by and took his order. "So, then why are you here so much?"

He was blunt. "Honestly, I enjoy cooking, but I went from living in a big city with friends, to moving to a small town. It's hard to make friends when people don't really trust outsiders." She figured that if he was going to be blunt, she would respond in kind.

Before he could respond, the waitress put their food down and refilled their drinks. As she walked away, he watched Luna slowly eat her food. Taking a big bite, it was a weird thing for him, he never really ate food with a female before, other than eating at Gemma's. As he swallowed his burger. "Then why'd you leave and come here?"

Wiping her mouth, she took the time to think about her answer. She wouldn't normally give the real answer, but just by looking at this man, she knew that her answer wouldn't bother him. "Because I got tired of standing over the dead bodies of children getting caught in the crossfire from gang wars." They locked eyes, "The last straw was a 7-month-old baby boy that was killed in a drive by. We did everything we could, but the damage was too much. The cops didn't do shit, hell there wasn't even street justice done, it broke my heart, and I decided I needed a change. So, I picked up a dart and threw it at a map. Landed on Charming. As they say, the rest is history."

Luna really didn't think about that night, but she wasn't going to lie. Looking down at her food, she took a second before she started eating.

Happy couldn't believe she seen that, "That's brutal. So, you needed a change. You get done here, you gonna run back home?" He generally wanted to know. He already decided that he was going to take an interest in her, but there was no point if she wasn't going to stick around.

"That's a fair question, but honestly no. While I'm trying to make friends, I like this town. It's nice." Sparing a glance at him. "And doesn't hurt there are your friendly neighborhood bikers keeping the town relatively safe." She said it in a tone that didn't come off as a total bitch.

He couldn't help but feel a bit of relief, while he still felt like a pussy, he would be lying if he wasn't pleased to know that she planned on sticking around. The two went back to eating in silence, which was fine with Happy, he watched her from the corner of his eye, she didn't seem uncomfortable with the silence or even sitting next to him. Most people get uncomfortable around him, he was used to it, most the time he enjoyed people giving him a wide berth.

All too soon, their meals were done, Happy reached into his wallet and put down money for both of their meals. The look of surprise on her face was enough to make him smile. She smiled and gave her thanks, and they made their way outside he watched her stand off to the side of her truck. She was beautiful, not your strung-out party girl. Her eyes were the colors of deep green, she barely came up to his chest. Stepping into her space, "Little girl, you do things to me. I don't know if I like it."

She stared at him; her eyes were filled with wonder. "I'm sorry." Was all she said.

He wanted to lean in and kiss her, and he probably would have, but his prepaid rang. Growling out his frustrations.

"YEA?" he didn't take his eyes off her.
"Clay needs you, need to handle some Mayan shit."
"OK, I'm heading to the clubhouse now."

With that he hung up. "Got to go." He watched her eyes, he could see that she was curious, but didn't press the issue.

Giving him a slight nod. "Stay safe. Or whatever." She watched as he straddled his bike and bring it to life. He looked so natural on it, like he truly was made for the biker life.

"I will. See you around little girl." With that Happy revved his engine and took off towards the clubhouse.

Shaking her head at the image that he left in her mind, Luna grabbed her things and headed towards the hospital. She needed to update some charts for patients, and figured while she was there, she would check in on Abel. She knew that she shouldn't, but he was the first real case she's had since coming to Charming 8 months ago. So, she was a little invested in his well-being.

It didn't take her long to finish up her charting, once she was done, Luna took her time getting to the NICU. Walking into Abel's room there was a tall man, standing over him. He obviously wasn't a member of the SONs and wasn't a doctor or and hospital staff. "Who are you, and why are you in this room?" She asked his back.

The man turned in shock, he was so wrapped up with his hatred of this baby that he didn't pay attention and got caught. It didn't really matter; he'd just flash his badge and whoever this was would give him all the information and go about her business.

Pulling out his Federal ID, "ATF Agent Kohn. I'm investigating the local biker gang that's here, you wouldn't happen to know anything useful about them, would you?" He put on his best smile. Simple girls like her always fell for it. Hell it worked on Tara.

Luna eyed him with suspicion. "No, but neither does this infant, so I suggest you get the hell out of the NICU before I report you for gross misconduct. A Federal Agent has no right to be near a minor without a guardian present, especially a child that needs round the clock hospital care. So, get out. Now." She stared down the man in question. It was a tense moment, but she could see the moment he realized that she wasn't bluffing.

Quickly leaving, Luna watched as he started walking down the hall, a quick glance over at Abel she could see that nothing was touched. Making a choice to follow him, she watched as he approached Tara. She looked shaken, stepping a little closer she could over-hear a bit of what was being said.

"Tara, I miss you. You need to come home."
"I have a restraining order, you being here is violating it, leave now or I'm calling your boss."
"OK, I see that I am not welcome, but I'm going to stick around and work a case on your little biker boy."

With that Agent Kohn headed towards the elevator. Leaving a stunned and scared looking Tara.

CRAP! What am I supposed to do? Luna questioned herself. She really didn't need to be involved in whatever was going on between ATF and the SONs, but him coming to Abel's room was a line that he crossed so that he can be near Tara. That wasn't acceptable in her eyes. She made her way towards Abel's room, sitting in the chair there, she made the decision to call Gemma. Figured that this is what Clay meant from earlier. As the phone rang, Luna's insides were turning, she knew that once she did this, she would by proxy be involved with club business. Looking over at the baby, yea, it needed to be done.
