"Adora sweets! Come look at what just came in the mail," Mama yelled from the entryway.

I spit my toothpaste out in the sink and whipped my head around quickly. "Is it here!" I yelled excitedly.

"Come and find out!" she yelled back.

I used my mouthwash so quickly that I almost swallowed it before sprinting down the stairs as fast as I could.

Halfway down the stairs, I decided running wasn't getting me there fast enough so I hopped on the golden railing and slid the next few flights of stairs down.

Sure enough, my moms and Gran Gran Razz were standing there in their usual trifecta with wide grins on their faces and a letter in hand.

I let out a small exhale and walked toward them slowly. Was this really the letter that would change my life forever? Start me on my path of legacy and adventure.

My hands were shaking when they reached up to take the letter from my mama's hand and I forced them to stop.

'You aren't nervous Adora,' I reminded myself 'Things don't shake you. Things can't shake you.'

I took the letter from my mom and opened it slowly, breaking the green Hogwarts seal along the way.

I skimmed the letter quickly. I already knew what it would say, I just needed the confirmation. I looked at my moms and my gran gran and nodded once, twice, and the whole of the room broke out into noise.

Mama started shrieking and grabbed me wrapping me in her arms tightly and peppering my face with kisses, "My girl, my beautiful, talented, perfect little girl is going to Hogwarts!"

"I'll get started on the pie!" Gran Gran Razz informed the room before walking to the kitchen.

Mother was already getting started on the preparations and shopping lists, "We'll need cauldrons and spell books and some robes for weekends as well as a new cage for Swift Wind and-. Do you smell that- Mara, your mother is burning down the kitchen again!"

Mama shot Mother a glare, "You leave my mama alone Hope."

"I will when she leaves my poor kitchen alone." she shot back irritably, already marching off in the direction of the smoke.

"Oh it's your kitchen now, is it?" Mama inquired but Mother had already rounded the corner and was probably too far away to hear us anymore.

"Are we gonna have to move again?" I sighed, "I'll go pack our stuff."

"Calm down." Mama interjected, "No one is moving anywhere, your grandma just had a little mishap with the pie."

I rolled my eyes but sat down on the coffee table regardless, moving mugs and magazines out of the way to do so.

"So tell me all about your Hogwarts plans then, I'm so thrilled," Mama gushed, grabbing my hands and grinning at me.

"Well I'll be top of my class like mother was and head girl like you were and I'll be captain of my house's Quidditch team like Gran Gran was. I'm going on to carry on the family legacy," I told her seriously.

She gave me a watery smile, "Of course you are, my brave, perfect little girl."

"Don't cry mama," I protested, "I'll be back for all the breaks and I'll write you letters every other day. It would be every day but we have to give poor Swifty a break. If we wrote every day I don't think he would be very healthy, with him having to fly back and forth like that."

"No," she agreed, chuckling, "I don't suppose he would."

"I love you," I told her.

"I love you too," she said, "More than you will ever know and you are going to make us so, so proud at Hogwarts."

I felt my eyes start to well up and I blinked back the tears.

I heard the whoosh of the floo and whipped around quickly to see my best friends stumble through the fireplace.

"Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora, Adora! Look what we've got!" Glimmer yelled as she danced through the entryway with her Hogwarts letter.

"I've got one too!" I announced.

Bow shrieked and spun around before grabbing our hands and jumping up and down. "The Best Friend Squad is going to Hogwarts," He squealed.

"We aren't called that," I told him in an equally excited voice.

"Who cares!" Glimmer cut in, "We're going to Hogwarts, we're going to Hogwarts."

"We're going to ace every class," I said.

"We're going to make tons of friends," Bow added.

"We're going to pull so many shenanigans." Glimmer shouted.

"Shenanigans," Bow questioned, "I didn't agree to any shenanigans."

"Bow we all make sacrifices. If I have to socialize for you and Glimmer has to study for me you have to shenanigan for Glimmer." I told him diplomatically.

"Okay, first of all, shenanigan is not a verb. Second, being popular and smart aren't the same as being perpetually in detention," he protested.

"Uh, yeah those other two things are lame." Glimmer argued

"Shenanigans?" Mama cut in from her place on the couch. "What's all this about shenanigans?"

"Nothing." We all said quickly.

She grinned at us, "C'mere."

We all moved closer and sat on the table and Mama leaned in like she was going to tell us a big secret.

"I used to be a pretty big prankster myself, you know."

"Really?" Bow questioned, "But you were Head Girl."

"What can I say the headmistress loved me," she responded.

"Listen kids as a mother all of your parents would say no shenanigans, so I too have to say, no shenanigans. BUT as a prankster I say, a few high jinxes here and there might be allowed," she said with a wink before picking up a Witch Weekly magazine.

Glimmer and I grinned at each other but Bow seemed nervous so I decided to change the subject.

"Come on guys, come help me pack,"

"Adora," Bow groaned, "I told you to pack ages ago."

"I know but I got busy doing anything but that. I don't want to disrupt the natural order of my room, you guys." I told them as we walked up the stairs to the fourth floor of my room.

"You two are such neat freaks," Glimmer snorted.

"Just because I like to know that there are no rats in my dirty laundry," Bow fired back.

"It was one rat, one time." she protested.

"Gross Glimmer," I said.

"How was I supposed to know," she shouted.

"You shouldn't have had to have known, it shouldn't have been in there," He yelled back.

"I'm feeling really attacked right now."

"Merlin's beard you two," I interjected, "Just help me pack please."

"Do I look like a house elf to you?" Glimmer snapped.

"Oh yeah, I forgot we have those," I said dumbly.

Glimmer groaned, "You are so lucky you're pretty."

"Berty," I called, with a pop my house elf appeared in front of me. "Would you do me a favor and pack up my suitcase for me."

"Of course Young Mistress," she said and got to work.

We all settled in on the bed, making a perfect triangle.

"So what house are you guys hoping for," Glimmer prompted. "I'm a Gryffindor all the way."

"Gryffindor would be cool, but I'll probably be Hufflepuff." Bow sulked.

"Don't hate the Hufflepuffs," I protested, "Everyone knows that they're the most likable people at Hogwarts."

"I guess that's true," he conceded.

"Yeah, plus Gran Gran was a Hufflepuff," I added.

Right on cue Gran Gran burst into the room and shouted, "PIE IS READY!"

Bow screamed and rolled under the bed. I sprang up and balled up my fist and Glimmer shouted "I WATCHED ALL OF THE KARATE KID MOVIES AND COBRA KAI! NO MERCY!" Berty in all her queenly glory simply folded clothes calmly and laughed at all of us quietly.

"Merlin's beard Gran Gran you can't do that!" I shouted.

"Razz?" Bow's muffled voice from under the bed.

"Yes dearie." She replied.

"Happy Birthday Glimmer dearie." Gran Gran said cheerfully.

"My birthday was three weeks ago Razz, you got me a rolling pin."

"Oh yeah," she agreed, "When are you going to give me my rolling pin back."

Glimmer laughed disbelievingly, "I'll have one of the house elves pop it over Razz."

Gran Gran rolled her eyes, "Can't give anyone anything nowadays can you Mara," she said to me.

I rolled my eyes, "That is still not my name."

"Hush Mara, of course it is," she said, putting the pie on my dresser and walking towards the door.

She stopped for a moment before turning around, "I'm proud of you Adora dearie," she told me with a soft smile before walking down the stairs.

"Is it safe to come out now?" Bow asked from under the bed.

"It was literally never not safe to come out, you chose to stay under my bed," I told him

Bow rolled out from under the furniture unceremoniously and sat on the bed.

He looked at us and blinked once and then twice.

"Morgana on a stick you guys," he said, "We're going to Hogwarts."
