Finding Happiness Ch. 10

Luna was sitting in the NICU feeding Abel, today was the day that she was going to start the car seat test, she was keeping that under wraps, she didn't want to give Jax any false sense of hope, he has been coming everyday for the last two weeks holding him, feeding him, and even changing him. Unless he was dealing with club business he was here with his son. Of course, Happy was always the one to keep an eye on the VP, it was a win/win for her.

To top it off, the last few weeks have been a learning experience, it was strange for her at first, she pretty much got a live-in boyfriend, normally things like this takes time, but the Outlaw life was different than anything else. There were still things that she was getting use to, the constant threat of ATF was something to get use to. Thinking back to her first run in with Agent Stahl made her shake her head and smirk.

FLASHBACK

Luna was sitting on her couch relaxing, today was one of those rare days where Happy was off doing club shit, and she was off work just hanging out and doing some chores. Today she was outside working on the front garden; it was something she loved doing. Working with her hands and making the front of her home look beautiful. She was putting the finishing touches on the cactus and aloe plants, when she heard a car door shut. Carefully standing and wiping the dirt off her hands, she watched as a blonde in a business suit came strolling up.

Watching the woman, she could see that she was a cop of some sort. Sighing, she figured that she would see this Stahl soon enough, she was going around to the women of the SOA trying to find a weak link.

"May I help you?" she asked kindly.

Holding her badge up, "Agent Stahl ATF, you Luna Erickson?"

"Yes, may I help you?" she questioned.

She watched as Stahl sized her up, she was trying to see if Luna was smart, dumb, indifferent. It was sort of amusing, but not wanting to antagonize her just yet, giving her the opportunity to appear like she was in charge.

"Yes, I'm here trying to get some information on the SONs, you're Happy Lowman's old lady?" she sneered.

Smiling back, well verbally they said it to each other, and maybe once it was mentioned in the club, but until she had his crow, she technically wasn't an old lady. "No."

Stahl looked confused, that wasn't what one of the girls said. "I have it on good authority that you are an old lady." Stahl was trying to get her slip up.

Shrugging her shoulders, "I'm sorry to say, Agent Stahl I'm not his old lady. I don't know who told you that. Is there anything else I can help you with?" she asked kindly.

Stahl was confused, normally these women get aggressive and tell her to fuck off, but this one generally seemed kind. Perhaps that bitch was just upset that she and Happy are screwing around. "But you are in a sexual relationship with Mr. Lowman, correct?"

Keeping her smile on her face, Luna didn't want to scream at the woman, but rest assured, if the time came, Luna would take a bat to her skull. "Yes, is that a problem?"

Getting some of her confidence back, "No, but it's strange to see a young lady like yourself sleeping with someone like him." She was trying to get the girl to react.

Nodding her head, "Yea we are definitely two opposites, but his dick game is on point, so I guess I'll just have to deal with that until he's bored with little ole me."

This was not what she expected, "You're OK, with that arrangement? Him just dropping you for some club whore?"

Luna knew that if that happened, she'd be hurt, probably heart broken, but that was a risk no matter who you were dating. "Isn't that the risk with anyone you're sleeping with? Look, I get your just doing your job, but I don't know how I can help you."

Stahl sized her up, while she was sleeping with Happy, she doubted that he would talk or even bring her around anything outlaw, she wasn't important enough. That bitch gave her bad intel, which meant that anything else she was saying was probably made up or misunderstood. "Sorry to bother you Ms. Erickson, I'll double check my intel, have a great day."

With that Stahl got into her car and headed out. Luna watched them turn the corner, grabbing her prepaid that Happy gave her, she called him, but it went straight to VM, knowing that the club had a leak was too important for her to wait for a callback. She called Clay. He answered almost immediately.

"This better be important Luna." He gruffed into her ear.

Knowing that Clay was not a man to beat around the bush. "Stahl just came by my house, I was able to get her to leave, but she mentioned that she had some intel saying that I was Happy's Old Lady. I think one of the girls around the club may be talking to her about things."

Clay gripped the phone to the point he could hear it cracking. "Did she say who." He needed to finish his deal with the 1 9ners, and then he would handle this.

"No sir. Just a vague hint that she had intel. My guess it would be someone that is around the club a lot. Maybe someone new. What would you like me to do?" She asked.

"Get to the clubhouse, go help Gemma in the office, and let her know what's going on, she knows every bitch that comes on that lot." He knew his queen would be able to help narrow down the search.

Luna understood that this was something that they needed to handle. "Of course, I'll be there within the hour. Let Happy know where I'll be please." With that they disconnected the call.

Getting cleaned up quickly, Luna made her way towards the clubhouse. She cared about these people, Gemma was like another mother to her, Clay, well Clay was nice to her, he treated nice enough. Jax was like her big brother, well, Happy. She knew her feelings for him were growing, she couldn't say love, but she could feel it was moving in that direction. She would do a lot to protect the people that have made her feel welcome.

END FLASHBACK

Luna finished burping Abel. Sticking her head out the room she asked a passing RN to grab her the car seat. As he went to get her what she needed, she called Dr. Nameed, and let him know what his vitals have been like for the last 24 hours, and she was pleased that he agreed it was time to see how long Abel can sit in the car seat without any issues.

She didn't have to wait too long Charlie came into the room holding the infant car seat.

"Place it over on the chair my love!" Luna was excited. She couldn't keep the excitement out of her voice.

"Careful, your boyfriend would hurt me if he heard you say that!" While he was only half joking, Charlie was sure that Happy would break his face if he thought that he was flirting with Luna. He wasn't going to worry about that, today was about getting Abel ready to go home. Putting the car seat in the chair as instructed, he got everything set up for Luna while she moved Abel's wires.

Soon enough Luna was carefully strapping the young lad in. Setting the timer on her phone, they both sat down and started the count down. 90 minutes.

Jax was making his way towards his son's room, as he rounded the corner, he could hear people counting and cheering. Walking to the room which was filled with staff he saw Luna standing over Abel who was in a car seat.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1! HE DID IT, ABEL TELLER YOU ARE NO LONGER A PATIENT HERE AT ST. THOMAS!" Luna quickly unbuckled the baby who was smiling at everyone in the room. Picking him up she turned to see the very stunned face of Jax. "Jax, you're just in time, Abel just passed the car seat test, he spent the last 90 minutes in his car seat, which means," taking off all his monitors, and handing the baby to his father, "He's ready to go home."

Jax held his son close, a rush of emotions surged through his body. Looking over at the woman that became like a sister to him, "You're serious? I can take him home, today?" He was almost so stunned, it had been a long month, he never thought he would ever be able to take him home, but here he was holding his son, and being told it was time.

Luna could see that he was in shock, ushering everyone out of the room, "Jax, take a seat before you fall." Not that she was overly concerned with him dropping Abel, but the sudden realization that he was going to be a father floored him. She watched him slowly sit down and pull Abel closer to his body. "Do you need a moment?"

Jax looked up his eyes were starting to fill with happy tears, "Just let me have a moment, call ma for me, I just want to hold Abel." He sat there for a second, before she walked out, "Luna. I don't know if I can do this, be a dad." It was fear that was talking for him.

Leaning against the door frame, she was surprised that he was showing such emotions, but she could understand his apprehension. "Jax Teller, you are more than capable of being a great father, and you are not going to be alone. Have you met your mother? Do you think for one second that she would not be there for you any time you need it? Or me? If you haven't noticed, I kind love that little man." Looking lovingly at him, "I'm gonna call Gemma, you sit there and enjoy this moment." With that Luna walked out the door and saw Dr. Nameed filling out the discharge paperwork. Grabbing her phone, she made her way towards an empty on call room.

"Hey baby, how's work?"
"Work is great, I have some amazing news, if you're interested."
"Oh yea, what would that be?"
"Abel is ready to come home tonight, he passed his 90 minutes in the car seat. Jax is sitting with him now."
Gemma gasped into the phone, this was the greatest thing that she's heard all year. "For real my sweet girl?"
Luna couldn't help but laugh into the phone, "Yes ma'am, I'll bring them home, be about an hour or so, is that enough time for you to get a little party going at Jax's house?"
Smiling into the phone, "That will be more than enough time, love you baby girl."
"Love you too."

Heading back to see Jax, "Your mom was stunned silent for a moment, it was weird. But she'll meet you at the house in about an hour or so. I'm taking you. So let me get that little man some food, and I'll get the base for the car seat in my truck." Luna quickly got everything ready, and headed to her truck, once it was safely installed it was about time to start getting Jax and the baby home.

Jax looked up as Luna came back into the room, instead of scrubs she was wearing jeans and a pink tank. "You ready? Cause I'm sure that you want to get home and spend time with little dude."

Standing up slowly with Abel, he followed her out the door, as they were leaving the hospital all the NICU staff was lining the hallway and clapping. Jax couldn't help but be proud, this was the moment that he has been waiting for.

It didn't take them long to get to the house, Jax was following right behind Luna. Pulling into the driveway he saw his mom's car, and a bunch of bikes, looking over at Luna, "Did you know about this?" he asked as he pulled Abel out of his car seat.

As she walked towards the front door, she looked at the biker carrying the infant, "I had a feeling, but come on dude, you know your mother, she's finally getting her family back together. So just be a good son, let her have this, and for you being a good friend, I'll stay late and help clean up while you spoil that kid. Sound good?"

Jax couldn't help but laugh, "Deal darlin', Now open that door and let's get this party started."

Walking in was a joyous thing, Gemma and Clay were front and center, as were the rest of the SONs. Luna was impressed with the efficiency that Gemma was able to throw this party together. But after the lasts month she learned very quickly that Gemma was a force of nature. Looking around the room she found who she was looking for, Happy, he was sitting on the couch, his face didn't give much away, she was hoping for a little better greeting, but perhaps he was having a bad day.

Getting some quick hugs from Gemma and Clay she made her way over to Happy. "Everything good?" she asked.

Happy looked over at Luna, his feelings for her have grown, to the point he felt like a pussy half the time he was around her. She never pushed or even demanded anything from him, didn't force him to talk about his feelings, she was damn near perfect. As he watched her look down at him, he could feel his chest getting tight when she spoke to him. "Yea it's fine." Taking another sip of his beer he began to talk to Chibs, effectively turning his attention away from her.

Luna took his subtle hint that he wasn't interested in conversation, while his rejection hurt, this wasn't the time or the place to bring it up. Getting up, she found herself talking with Donna for the remainder of the night. Even though Donna wasn't the easiest to get to know, eventually they made some head way. She even helped through that drama when Stahl brought her, Opie, and the kids to the station, she couldn't believe that Stahl had the nerve to try to set up someone to look like a rat, that was disgusting. She can't wait for Stahl to get hers.

Happy watched from the corner of eye, she was engaging with Donna. He felt like such an ass. Shaking his head, he was going to apologize to her when they got home later. Gemma saw that he was being a dick and called him out. He knew that he was going to need to talk to her later.

As the party died down, he got up to go speak to her, but looking around the party he didn't see her. Taking another look around everyone was pretty much gone except for Jax, Gemma, and Clay.

"Gemma, do you know where Luna went?" he asked.

Gemma just got back from putting down Abel, "Yea baby, she's with Donna, they went to grab a few things to clean up, she should be back soon."

He let out a breath, while he was upset that she left without telling him, he couldn't fault her, he basically ignored her. "Alright, Jax is it cool I stay until my old lady gets back?"

Jax smiled at his brother. "Yea man." Jax walked out to the porch and sat, Happy soon joined him. It was nice to have his family home and safe.

The girls were heading back to Jax's place after running to the market. Donna was glad that Luna decided to join her, while she told Opie to head for the kids, she felt it was important that she helped Jax out, over the last week or so with ATF trying to get her to turn on her family, it made her realize how important they were to her. While she would never agree with their lifestyle 100% of the time, at the end of the day they stood up for each other, protected each other. Hell, even her biological family didn't even come close to that.

Luna could see Donna's brain working a mile a minute, "What's going on in that head of yours?" she asked her friend.

Smiling back, "Just thinking that for the longest time I was mad at SAMCRO for what happened to Opie, but I guess I was just mad, after the Stahl thing, it made me realize that I was being a bit of bitch to Ope and the rest of the club. Just grateful I was able to pull my head out of my ass before I did too much damage."

All Luna could do was nod at that statement, she was just getting to know Donna, so what happened prior to that was not something she was familiar with. "I think you were trying to make the best out of a shitty situation. Your husband, and father of the kids was sent to jail for what 5 years. That wasn't easy. So, give yourself a break, you know that he loves you. Gemma loves you."

As they rode down the street, Donna couldn't help but feel grateful for her friend. Tara never was nice to her, even as teens, Gemma was too old for her to truly bond with, so having Luna around was a god send. "That's so true, I'm glad I have the ability to show them I love them too." Pulling up to the stop light, she could sense that something was going on with her friend. "What about you and Happy, that seems to be going good."

Rubbing her neck she turned slightly in the seat, "I thought it was, but I don't know, the last couple nights it's like he'd rather be somewhere else. Hell, he didn't even talk to me at all tonight, I barely got a hello out of him."

Donna was shocked to hear that. "Really? I know he isn't a man of many words, but with you, he seems almost normal."

She couldn't help but laugh, "I don't know what to say, I think he's just tired of the domestic life, probably thinks it makes him weak." Trying to keep the emotion out of her voice, "I figured that this could happen, I mean he's not like Jax or Opie, he's different, you know. He's role in the club is different. I mean he's never spoken about giving me a crow, so I guess I wasn't meant for the long haul, it sucks, and it hurts, but I can't ask him to stay if he's wanting to go. I just hope that I don't lose yours or Gemma's friendship."

Donna was holding back tears, "No matter what, you'll always be welcome in my home and my life. I can't speak for Gemma, but I'm damn certain she feels the same. You are an amazing person."

Leaning over Donna embraced her friend, and Luna returned the hug. It felt nice, knowing that if her time with Happy was coming to a close, the friendships she's made within the club would more or less remain intact.

As Luna pulled back from her hug, she caught the sights of black SUV slow rolling, every fiber in her being tingled with fear, it was like watching in slow motion, the window came down, and just barely seeing the reflection of the gun, "GET DOWN!"

Pulling Donna down, she used her body to shield her friend, the burning sensation filled her shoulder, but she didn't move, the last thing she heard was Donna screaming her name, after that, things went dark.
