Finding Happiness Ch. 19
Several weeks have passed since Luna got her crow, the things with the club have been a little tense, with the 1 9ners at first not liking the thought of friendly borders, but Jax kept looking for a way that they wouldn't step on the others toes, it was a lot of research, but the break came when a snitch in the Oakland PD said they were on verge of getting a task force together to start handling the violent crime from both sides. Happy watched as Jax got the 1 9ners, Mayans, and even Lin's crew to sit down.
FLASHBACK
Jax called Alverez, Lin, and LaRoy to meet in neutral territory. The first 10 minutes were tense, but it was to be expected.
Jax looked around, "Enough. This in fighting shit is keeping you focused on each other, not making money." Looking at LaRoy. "1 9ners you are a big pill, meth, and coke distributer. Lin, your crew focuses on girls, opioids. Mayans, you're all about the H trade. None of your businesses are stepping on the other. SO, what exactly are you fighting for?" he asked.
Happy watched as all the crews looked within their groups, then back to each other, the wheels have started to turn, and they were getting on board.
Marcus rubbed his beard, looking at his son, "If we were to call a truce, how would we set our borders?" Truce was a great for business, but it only worked if no one gets fucked.
Jax pulled out a map of Oakland, showing them how he had it divided, "This would give everyone equal territory, but pointing to different, sides of the map, gives each of you a little extra. You can expand a bit in each direction without fucking with the others." Looking around he could see that he had their attention. His final move, "There is a task force that is in the process of being assembled to take you all down. The violence is drawing too much attention. Finding a working solution is the only option, or you could lose all your turf to the Aryans." Shrugging his shoulders, "Your choice." With that Jax stepped back from the table. It was time the 3 leaders of each faction decide what was more important, killing the guy next to them, or making money.
Keeping his eyes trained on the men in front of him, Happy was ready for anything to pop off, it was his job to keep the President safe, and he took his job seriously.
20 minutes after some talking and debating, Jax could see that they were shaking hands, "Seems like a deal was reached." Walking over, "We good gentlemen?" He asked. While he wanted to know about the deal, it wasn't really his business.
LaRoy looked at Jax, "We good, we agreed your lay out of the turf worked, and gave us a little room to expand. So, for now, we have peace."
Marcus nodded towards Jax, "As long as we keep to the deal, the blood should stop."
Lin shrugged his shoulder, "I'd rather make money than worry about these two gunning for me."
Chuckles could be heard through out the crews. Jax looked at the crews, "Glad you gents found something that works." With that each crew was going to head back towards their territory to spread the word.
Jax looked over at his guys, "Our good deed has been done, let's head back to the clubhouse."
END FLASHBACK
Happy knew it was going to take some time for the kinks to be worked out, but it seemed like everyone was trying to keep it all about the business. It honestly didn't matter to him, if those idiots wanted to kill each other let them. Hindsight though, it kept the SONs from watching Oakland all the time, while they kept their fingers in, they could focus on more practical issues, like fucking Agent Stahl. That bitch was like herpes, bitch kept coming back.
To the clubs' surprise she went after Luann, while they were partners, her charges were directly against Luann and her production team. The club was confused to why she would go after Luann. Luann may have had some paper issues, but there wasn't anything there.
Sitting at the table, Happy was in deep thought, he almost didn't hear Luna come in through the door. Looking up, he could see that she had a rough day. "Everything good little girl?" he asked her.
Seeing his face made the day better. "No, I got stopped by Stahl in the parking lot as I was leaving. You know, asking questions about the club."
Standing up he walked towards her. "You OK?"
Putting her arms around his waist. "I'm fine Happy, she's trying to ask things I don't know, like Luann's business." She had a feeling she knew what was going to happen. It was just her MO. "Happy, I have a feeling she's going to wrap Luann in all this legal bullshit. But I think her play will be getting to Otto, he'd do anything for Luann."
Stunned silent, she was right, Otto would do anything for his wife. He needed to talk to Jax. Giving her a quick kiss on the head, "I need to let Jax in on it, we need to get ahead of this. Love you little girl." With that he took out his prepaid and called Jax.
She watched him walk towards the back porch, talking mostly to herself, "Love you too biker." Heading towards the bedroom she quickly got undressed and rinsed herself off. Knowing that one or more of the guys would come over after Happy dropped the information bomb, Luna dressed in some comfy jean shorts and a tank top.
Making her way towards the kitchen she could see that he was in a deep conversation with Jax or whomever he had on the line. Taking the time to check the fridge, she saw ingredients for her ground beef enchiladas. Grabbing everything that she needed, she got to work on getting dinner ready for her and Happy, and whoever was coming. She always cooked extra, it seemed a few of the guys would always show up for dinner at least 2x a week. Everything that wasn't eaten was brought to work with her for lunch, so either way, it worked out.
It took a bit of time but soon enough everything came together and was in the oven. Hearing the back door open and close, she looked up and saw that Happy was watching her. "Everything good Hap?" she asked him.
Nodding, "Yea little girl. Jax and Chibs are on the way over to pick your brain." While he would like to keep her out of club life, but she had this ability to see through the bullshit and put things into perspective. It made him proud that she was able to balance being an outlaw's old lady and still be an upstanding member of society. He knew it gave her an advantage, that she was able to move freely between the two worlds.
Grabbing some plates, she headed towards the table. "Figured as much. I made extra. Beef enchiladas. With some dirty rice. Sound good?"
Handing her utensils, he watched as she made the table. "Everything you cook is amazing. No complaints little girl."
Getting it done, she smiled back at him. "Thanks for the assist biker." Taking a moment, she knew she was treading into not her business, but she was too curious. Kip mentioned the other night that his 1-year probation was up, he was excited to find out if he earned his place. "Happy, can I ask a question about the prospect period?"
Raising his eyebrow, he knew that she wouldn't overstep, so he nodded.
Keeping her eyes on him, "How does the club determine if someone is worthy of the patches?"
It was a good question, "Handing the prospect period like a man. Not complaining. Handing your business, willing to do what you need to protect the club. Why you asking?"
Never one to lie to Happy. "I was just thinking about Kip, you've mentioned that is 1-year was coming up, and I just wondering how one goes from Prospect to Member."
Pulling her into a hug, "A vote, it has to be unanimous. If Half-sack gets voted in, he get's his patches." Licking her neck, "You want to know what the club thinks about him?"
Tilting her head, "Of course I want to know, but it's not my place since I don't get a vote. I just wanted a better idea of the process."
Happy grabbed her by the back of the neck, kissing her deeply, he loved it when she let him control her body. She was perfect for this life, never one to overstep knew when to back off. He could hear the bikes coming down the road, groaning at the frustration of his dick being hard and not being able to bury himself into her body. He could see the amusement and lust in her eyes. "We'll finish this later Little girl."
Shaking the hormones out of her head, "You better believe it." She made her way back to the kitchen, checking her food, she could see that it was done, carefully taking it out she placed it out on the table to let it start cooling down. Just as she was grabbing some beers, she could hear a knock at the door. Happy walked over to the door and opened it.
She could see that Jax, and Chibs were wanting to have a conversation, but the smell of food derailed them. Indicating to sit down, they all sat and ate quietly, it was important to Luna to carry on Gemma's traditions of keeping them like a family.
Once everyone had their fill, she grabbed their plates and put them in the sink to soak. She'd handle it later, coming back to the table, she looked over at Happy; getting the nod, she focused on Jax.
"So, Stahl stopped me at my truck on my way home." She started, she wanted to give them perspective of her thoughts, and not that she just inserted herself into club business. "She was asking me about Luann's paperwork, and if the actors were up to date on their STD screenings and such, I told her that I couldn't answer any of that without violating HIPAA. That she would have to get the actors written consent to pull their medical records. She then mentioned that Luann was a small fish, that there was something bigger out there," Pausing. "It was the way she said it Jax. I thought about it all the way home, what exactly big fish does Luann know. Then it hit me, Otto, he's a big fish, he's connected with the SONs and she's been obsessed with you guys, so my thought is like with Opie, she's going to try to turn him, when that fails, she'll make him look bad for the club, hoping for retaliation which might cause Luann to talk or if they have too much on Luann, pressure Otto to talk. Either way, she can't come at you directly, so now she's trying to find a way in." she finished and let them process her thoughts.
Chibs was stunned, it was a simple thought, but it made the most sense. "Jackie boy, da lass is right. Otto loves his woman." Rubbing his chin, "Otto would never turn on the club."
Jax watched his mentor and friend carefully, looking towards his Sgt. He could see what Luna was saying made sense. Otto wouldn't turn against the club, but even Clay would throw an old incident out to save Gemma. Looking at Happy, he could see his wheels were turning as well.
Happy got so fucking mad, "RICO. She'll try a RICO case." Shit this was bad. Otto may not know that giving a piece of old information would put in motion. "We need to get a message to Otto, but it can't look obvious."
Jax agreed. "How? They will be watching us going to the prison, it's not like we go to him a lot, only when we need to. Otto requested that."
Luna watched as the men made themselves crazy when a solution was in front of them. "If I may offer a suggestion?" She tentatively put out there. She waited until they all gave her the nod.
"I can volunteer at the prison; I've done it before in Chicago. I can start as soon as tomorrow. I have the next week off anyway. I'll just log extra hours. Or if that's not a good plan, Charlie, he works at Stockton every week. He'd delivery a quick message to Otto. Either way it's the quickest way in without sending up flags." With that Luna grabbed a couple more beers and placed them in front of the guys. She would wait for them to tell her no or work out a plan.
Jax hated putting her or using another person not club related into this, but she's right, her background already volunteering at prisons wouldn't send up flags, and Otto is scheduled to go to the infirmary in the next two days. Her being there a day prior would sell it. Looking at Happy, he could see that he was not OK with this, but he knew it was what the club needed. Jax saw him war in his head over it, but soon enough he locked eyes with him and nodded. Turning his gaze to Chibs, the Scot cared for the girl, all the members did, but they knew that she was smart and capable. He too looked at Jax and nodded.
Taking a deep breath, Jax looked at Luna, "Set it up."
She looked to her old man. "Happy?"
Putting his arms around her shoulders, "I hate this idea little girl, but it's a good one. Just be careful yea?"
Standing on her tip toes, "I will." With that Luna reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, making the arrangements, she answered a million questions, but soon enough she gave them the thumbs up. Looking at their expectant faces, "I'll start tomorrow morning. I will be there the rest of the week for about 5 hours each day. So, I should be able to see Otto and give him the messages. Is there anything specific you want me to say or not say?"
Jax was always impressed with how Luna took her queue from the club, "Nothing major, just be mindful of speaking in front of the other inmates, you'd be surprised what they hear goes straight back to the block."
Understanding, she nodded. Looking at her watch, shit. If she was going to get to Stockton by 7am she needed to go to bed, which pissed her off a little bit because she really wanted to have naked time with Happy. She looked over it Happy, "I need to get to sleep, it seems I have an early day tomorrow." Giving him a quick kiss on his cheek, "Goodnight Jax, Chibs." With that she left the living room and went straight to bed.
Happy watched as she headed off to their room. Looking over at his brothers, "Jax, I trust your judgement man, but that's my old lady. I don't like this shit."
He understood, he wouldn't want his old lady going voluntarily into harms way. "I know brother. But this isn't her first time working in the prison system. I got to trust her man." Looking at Chibs, he indicated it was time to head out. "I'll leave you two alone, I know this can't be easy Killa. I'm sorry." With that Jax and Chibs headed out the door.
Happy watched as his brothers left the house, locking the door behind them, he checked the house making sure everything was locked up. Turning towards the bedroom, he saw that she was laying quietly in bed, while he wanted to talk to her about this, he knew that she needed the rest. Getting ready for bed, he finally laid down with her, and he wrapped his arms around her. "Goodnight little girl."
"Night Biker." She mumbled.
