Finding Happiness Ch. 27

Luna was sitting on the back porch drinking some lemonade, she surveyed her backyard, it was one of her favorite places to be when she needed to think. Over the last couple months, the peace that has rained over the clubhouse was felt and needed for everyone's piece of mind. But there was bothering her, it was like she could sense that there was something coming, it was settling in her stomach, she felt it was heading for her.

Looking over her garden, Luna put down her drink and walked toward the shed that she kept all her -gardening tools in. She needed to do anything to keep her mind from spiraling in to the unknown. Grabbing a few things; she set to work on pulling weeds from the vegetables.

Several hours into the weeding, she cleaned up her mess and brought the tomatoes she pulled off the vine in the house, she figured that it was time to make some spaghetti sauce and start the canning process. While it wasn't something that she enjoyed doing because of all the prep work, but it was something that her mom loved to do when the tomatoes came in, and it was one of the few ways that she could share in the memory of her mother.

As she finished up the last jar, she could feel her phone vibrating in her pocket, quickly answering it.

"Hello?"
"Hey baby girl, family dinner tonight?"
"Of course, what's for dinner?"
"I was thinking some lasagna. That sound good baby?"
"You know it's funny, I just made a bunch of homemade sauce from the garden."
"Oh, I love your sauce, bring it over baby."
"Will do, let me get cleaned up and I'll bring a couple over."
"OK sweetheart, see you soon, love you."
"Love you too."

Hanging up, Luna did what she could to clean up the kitchen and headed towards the shower, over the last couple days she uneasy in her stomach, shaking it off she jumped into the shower, once washed and shaved, she jumped out and quickly got dressed. Sending a text to Happy, letting him know that she was heading over to Gemma's.

It took about an hour for her to walk out the door, as she hit the road the feeling of despair washed over her. This wasn't a good feeling, but not knowing what the cause was or where it was coming from, she focused on the road ahead. It wasn't going to get any better if she flipped her truck.

Knocking on Gemma's door was always a funny thing, either she'd yell at you for knocking or open the door with this pleasant welcoming smile. Today was a combination of the two.

"Hey baby, I'm going to have to break you of that habit knocking on this damn door. You can walk in you know." She chastised.

Rolling her eyes, "Yes, mom." Luna followed behind Gemma and placed the sauce jars on the counter tops.

"Oh, that sauce smells amazing, I can't wait to use it tonight." Gemma turned towards her friend. She could see that she was ready in the process of making the lasagna. It always amazed her on how she was able to just get to work and be able to do what needs to be done.

While Luna powered her way through 3 pans of lasagna, Gemma was making the meatballs and sausages, she wanted to make sure that tonight's dinner went off without a hitch. Abel was getting ready to turn one, and now that things have settled with him, it was time to see if she could get Jax to focus on finding a woman that could be in Abel's life and fit within the club. Looking over at Luna, she could only pray that Jax would find someone half as decent. Turning her attention back to the sauce and the meat, she sometimes felt like slapping Jax in the head for letting her go, sometimes she wanted to strangle him for making a bonehead move like that, she knew that he had a huge crush on her when she first started coming around, but he did the right thing and focused on Abel. A part of her will always mourn the loss of something that could have been powerful.

Luna could feel Gemma watching her, looking over her shoulder, "What's up Gem?"

Smirking at the young women, while she would normally answer her, hearing that she wished that it was Jax that had his crow on her would probably make it uncomfortable for her to say so, "Not too much kiddo, just excited for little man's first birthday. It's less then 2 months away. Can you believe it?"

The smile that graced her face, "I know, I can't wait." Honestly, she adored Abel, she spent more time with him in the last couple months, she loved that kid.

It didn't take long before the house started filling with family and friends, her surprise was seeing Lyla coming in with Kip, that made her smile, she knew that they were still figuring everything out, it was a good step bringing her to the house.

Lyla was nervous, this was the first time that she was coming to a family function outside the clubhouse. She didn't know what Gemma was making for dinner, but she made some baked macaroni for the kids, she wanted to show that she could contribute, and that she was more than just hand-jobs. Walking up to Gemma and Luna was intimidating, taking a deep breath, "Hi, Kip invited me, I hope that's OK."

Sharing a look, Luna could see that she was nervous. While she wanted to put the woman at ease, it wasn't her house to do so. Plus being the former president's old lady and current president's mother, she was going to oversee all the old ladies until another was in charge.

Gemma smiled, "It's fine sweetheart. What'd you bring?" She understood that this was her first time in the house, normally she might have made Lyla work to get her approval, but over the last couple months she could see that she has been making strides to get right with the club. While she still was working in porn, she went to the girl-on-girl things for Kip. While it wasn't something that Gemma would be able to do as a career, she could respect that to make her boyfriend happy she was willing to change a little about herself, to make sure that he didn't feel threatened, but not willing to change what she did for income.

Smiling, Lyla was grateful that Gemma wasn't giving her a hard time, "Just a baked macaroni, Piper loves it, figured it'd keep him from being too picky at the table."

Gemma couldn't help but laugh, she remembered those day's with Jax, where he refused to eat anything but peanut butter and jelly. "I understand, Jax did Jax went through the same thing."

Happy watched as Luna talked with Lyla, it confused him on how kind she was to others. Especially the porn chick. Not that he had a problem with Lyla, but there was no way he would allow his old lady work as a whore. But that was Half-sac's problem. Racking his eyes over his woman, yea, there wasn't a fucking chance in hell that she would do anything like that, hell 90% of what she did at the hospital annoyed him, while he knew she loved the work, sometimes it he wished that she would let him take care of her. But that was a problem for another day.

Dinner went well, Luna enjoyed sitting around her table and talking with everyone, but shit, her stomach was killing her, for the last few days she has been feeling nauseous. Shaking the feeling away, she could feel that Happy put his arm around her, it was a calming presence. They continued to talk for another hour or so, and soon enough like always the guys stood up and headed out the door for some cigars and more beer.

The ladies left in the kitchen worked quickly, Donna handled the dishes, Gemma put away all the leftovers and brought dishes to the table, Luann wiped down the table, and Luna swept and mopped around the table and once the other ladies were done, she would clean out the kitchen floor.

"Thank you, girls, so much." Gemma said. It was something to have the family working together, while Gemma would like to take credit for it, but she knew it came from the peace that the club was experiencing, taking a mental picture, in her lifetime she knew that when the peace was here you took advantage, you never knew when that shit was going to end.

Soon, it was only Luna and Gemma in the kitchen, Lyla and Luann headed out to the back porch, a wave of nausea washed over Luna for the second time tonight. Damn it. She didn't know what was making her feel this way, but it needed to stop. Leaning back against the counter, "Gem, do you have any pepto, my stomach has been a little queasy the last couple days."

Gemma's eyes perked up, not wanting to say anything just yet, "Yea baby." Walking to her bedroom she grabbed what she needed and headed back out to the kitchen, "Here you go sweetie."

Luna took the pink shit and took a big swig, "Thanks. I don't know what I ate but has been wreaking havoc."

Never one to mince words, "You pregnant?" she asked.

Luna's eyes bugged out of her head. "No, I mean, I have the Nexplanon, I mean it would be nearly impossible." But, her symptoms, it was a small possibility.

Lighting a joint, "You don't seem so convinced." Gemma was thrilled. She wanted another baby to love and spoil.

Rubbing her neck, "I mean it would be rare, but I guess it's not impossible." Looking up, while it definitely wasn't planned, but if she was, it would be nice.

"Oh, I know that look. You're not unhappy." Gemma knew that she would be a fantastic mother. Hell, she was a great mother figure for Abel. "You'll be a great mom."

With a tear in her eyes, "Thanks. But let's not rush anything, I work tomorrow, I'll have them draw some blood and go from there."

Pulling her into a hug, "OK, baby, but as soon as you get home, you tell me everything." She knew that Happy would probably be the first person to know if she was, but Gemma wanted to be the second.

Luna couldn't help but laugh, "I wouldn't even dream about keeping anything from you. Just do me a favor, let's keep this between us until I know something. OK?" Not that she wasn't going to be proud to have Happy's baby, but she needed to know first, and then tell people. Hell, she wasn't even going to bring it up to Happy until she had the information.

Unknown to the women, he heard everything.

Luna could see that it was getting late, she went to find Happy and let him know that she was heading home, finding him on the porch with his brother's, "Hap, I have to get to the hospital early in the morning, I'm heading home."

Barely looking up at her, "Yea, I see you there."

Too tired to notice his cold deminer, Luna said her good-byes, and headed home. Making her way home, she quicky stripped down and headed off to bed. Not bothering to think about the possibilities, she would deal with that shit tomorrow.

As the alarm went off, Luna slowly opened her eyes and sat up, turning towards Happy, she found his spot empty, and not slept in. Huh. Checking her phone, no text messages. It was weird, normally if he was staying out for any reason, he'd at least let her know, but it wasn't a big deal, she'd talk to him after work.

Luna wanted to get to work a little early so she could have her blood drawn, she didn't want to wait for the answers. Walking into the ER she saw that Charlie was there, "Hey Dark Chocolate, I need a favor." With that Luna walked into an open ER bay, sitting on the bed, she rolled up her sleeves, "Take my blood please. Run a hCG test please."

His eyes bugged out of his head. "GIRL? For real." Grabbing the stuff he needed for a blood draw, he put the band around her arm, "Make a fist, you know the drill."

Snorting at his antics, "Relax, I'm having some symptoms, but I have the Nexplanon, I'm just ruling it out." But a very small part of her hoped she could be that 1%. She winced a bit when she felt the needle go in, but Charlie was good at blood draws.

He quickly finished up, and put all the appropriate labels on it, "I'll get this to the lab, and find you went I get the results." With that he damn near skipped towards the lab.

Shaking her head, she couldn't help but smile, glad that she was able to make his day, but it was time to get to work and handle the ER. The day passed quickly, much to Luna's pleasure, she wanted to get her results. Finishing up her last patient, she was sitting at the desk getting the charting information in, but she could feel someone standing over her, looking up Charlie was bouncing with excitement.

Thrusting the paperwork in her face, "Open it, right now. Or I may hurt you." His eyes were glittering with excitement.

Taking the letter, she smiled at him, "I can't be having that." Opening it she quickly read the results, her face fell just a bit, turning her eyes towards her friend, "Not pregnant."

Charlie could see the disappointment on his friend's face. "I'm sorry. Perhaps now you should have that talk with Happy. Let him know you're thinking about it." With a soft pat on her shoulders, he headed towards the ambulance bay, another patient was being brought in.

She watched as her friend went back to work, it surprised her on how disappointed she was. Perhaps Charlie was right, she needed to sit down with Happy and talk about when they thought it would be best to start a family. Not needing any more distractions, she finished up the rest of her charting and headed home. She needed to sit and talk with Hap.

Pulling into the driveway, she could see that his bike was there, good, she wanted to get this conversation over with.

Walking in she could see that he was leaning against the counter, "Hey Hap."

"Luna." He said.

Tilting her head, she honestly couldn't remember the last time that he said her name. Not thinking too deep into it, "I need to talk to you about something." Before she could get another word out; he slammed his fist into the wall. Stunned silent she watched him.

Happy was livid, how could she be so stupid and get knocked up, he didn't want a kid right now, and probably never, he wasn't sure on that one. He didn't know the first thing about being a dad, and here she is all happy that she's fucking pregnant. Not wanting to hear anything come out of her mouth, he walked over to her, he could see the concern and a tinge of fear in her eyes, good, she needed to know that he was serious. Reaching into his pocket, he grabbed the wad of cash from his pocket and tossed it at her. "Get rid of it, I don't want no fucking baby." With that, he stormed out of the house and headed to the clubhouse, he'd give her a day to do as she was told, if she didn't, she wouldn't be his old lady. He wasn't going to be held down by no one.

Staring at the door he just slammed shut, Luna was stunned silent. She could feel her heart breaking into a million pieces, how could everything go wrong in a matter of seconds? Trying to keep herself from hyperventilating she sunk down to the floor and held herself together by sheer determination.

She wasn't sure how long she stayed like that on the floor, but her body started to ache for being in the same position, slowly standing, she made her way to the bedroom, sitting down on the bed she stared at his empty spot. She could feel her heart hurting, but behind that, was anger and betrayal. Knowing that anything she would say would just be antagonistic towards the situation, she turned off her phone, and went to lay down, once she was able to think clearly, she would deal with it. Right now, she just needed to feel.
