Finding Happiness Ch. 35

Jax spend the morning with his mom at her house, they knew that they were going to fight this, there was no way on earth he would give that child to Wendy. He'd maybe willing to settle on joint visitations, but there was no way she was going to keep his kid.

Looking over at his mom, "What did Lowen say?" he asked.

Flicking her cig ash down, "She said that we have to prove that we have a stable environment for Abel, and Wendy is unstable, but with our history with the law, and Wendy's drug use, the judge could grant joint custody."

Holding his son, he felt like his heart was being ripped out of his chest. "The first night that she has him, she'll run, and then what? Hunt her down, only for a judge say that it's a parent's right or some bullshit like that."

Gemma and Clay looked at each other, they knew that he probably wasn't wrong. "Jax there isn't anything I won't do or how much money we are willing to throw at this, I'm not giving up my grandson without a fight." Clay said.

Jax spend the rest of the morning playing with Abel, he was almost too terrified to let him out of his sight. But by mid afternoon he needed to head to the lot, check on things make sure that their business deals were going through, if he didn't make the money there was no way he'd be able to afford the cost to fight for his son.

"Ma, I'm heading to the clubhouse, stay with him please?" he asked.

Kissing him on the cheek, picking Abel up from the floor, "Of course baby. I'll keep him here tonight, so you can handle your shit."

Kissing his son, and mom, he headed out the door, Clay coming with.

Hitting the lot was surreal, the guys wanting to know what they could do to help, "Nothing boys, just know that we are going to fight this."

Opie looked at his friend, "Good, if you need anything. Just let us know."

Jax couldn't help but smile at his friend, "Thanks." Looking around "CHURCH."

Piling in, they got down to business, the deal with the Irish was on track, 1-9ners and Mayan's hardware was coming in, Lin was good for now. So at least shit was coming at him from all ends.

"Anything else?" Jax asked the club.
"Yea, got intel on the NORDS, they are scrambling to find the young dude from the Hairy Dog, they think he took the dope, and that Whistler was his partner, so we're clear on that." Kip said.

Piney took a hit off his joint, "Good, don't need to be worrying about Nazi's right now." Looking around the table, "Anyone check in on Luna today? She left yesterday pretty early."

Everyone looked around, it seemed like not.

"When I dropped her off, she said that she was going to be taking time to relax. She's probably needing to be alone. She'll show when she's ready." Taking a minute, he remembered what she asked him. "She did say that now that Hap's claim is off her, that she wanted us to help keep Kozik away, he's made some advances and she's not comfortable with him. I told her that I would and let you guys know too."

Jax looked at him, "What do you mean advances?" his eyes were burning with rage. Looking at Happy, "You know about this?"

Happy rubbed his face, "Yea, a while back, when SAMTAC was here for Half-sacks party, he corned her and he told her he was in love, I told him to back the fuck off, and leave Charming. He hasn't been back since."

Juice looked at him, "You knew that he hit on her and he kept his teeth?"

Shrugging, "He was just at the line, he didn't cross it. Didn't have cause to."

Clay was surprised, line or no, if anyone said that to Gemma and he knew it he'd beat his ass.

Jax shook his head, "Alright, well that's the past, but if she asks for help with Kozik she gets it. Agreed?"

A bunch of YES's were heard.

Banging the gavel, closing the meeting. Standing up, he was pissed, Kozik loved her too. It settled his inner beast to know that she obviously wasn't receptive, even after Happy. It gave him, some hope.

Grabbing a bottle of tequila from the bar, he headed towards his dorm, on the way, he was stopped by Ima.

"Hey Jax. You finally ready to have some fun?" she asked, trying her best sexy pout on.

He didn't understand what her problem was, but he has no desire to fuck someone that literally jumps from brother to brother. He hasn't stuck his dick in her, and he never would. "Get out of my way Ima, I don't have time for this shit." Walking around her, he headed straight to his dorm. He was going to drink, something had to go his way, he could lose his son, the girl he wants may not even want him. Yea he really needed to get drunk.

Luna put her truck in park and stared the clubhouse. Her drive back from the lawyer's office was mind numbing. She didn't know what to make of the all the information that was given, but Lowen told her everything she needed to do, hypothetically of course. Looking at her watch, it was close to 6pm, between driving to Lowen's office, sitting in on that meeting for almost 2 hours, and the drive back, it was a long day. She only stopped long enough to get something to eat and change into more comfortable clothes. Looking over the lot, she could see that most of the bikes were here, well that's good, she didn't want to have to chase people down.

Taking a few extra minutes to leave the safety of her truck, she knew that now that it was the end of the business day at the shop, a bunch of sweet butts would start to pour in. She didn't really have the mental capacity to handle them but figuring that she was still in good standing with the club, and not exiled, if they stepped to her, a bitch was going to get beat.

Trying to rally herself, she shook off her nerves, and headed inside, as she passed some of the girls, she could see some of them looking her with glare, rolling her eyes, opening the double doors, she entered to hear some music and guys sitting around drinking. "Hey guys."

Bobby was sitting at the bar, "Luna, hey sweet girl, have a good day?"

Nodding, "Yea, ran a few errands. But good otherwise." Looking around, she didn't see Jax, "Jax around?" she asked.

Bobby nodded, "He's in his dorm."

Rubbing the back of her neck, "Is he alone? I don't want to disturb him, but I'd like to check on him."

Smiling at her, "He's alone." Looking at her he started to get to know that look, "you figure something out about the custody shit?"

Leaning in, "Maybe. Need to talk to him first." Kissing him on his cheek, she smiled at him, "Keep it quiet until Jax tells me what he thinks. OK?"

He couldn't help but smile, he knew that if Luna had an idea, it was probably going to work, "OK sweetheart." He watched as she headed down the hall towards the dorm rooms. He was glad that she entered their lives, she was strong and loving, very much like Gemma, it was good to know that the younger guys would have someone to keep them together when the OG's got too old.

Standing in front of his door, Luna was nervous, she involved herself in something that wasn't really her business again. She was sure that at some point Jax was going to choke her. Raising her hand to his door, she knocked hard, and waited.

Jax heard the knock, he honestly didn't want to talk to anyone, he figured if it was important, they'd come in, he was leaning against the headboard, staring at his Kutte. Taking another drink. He hoped whoever was there would just leave.

Luna hated standing in front of his door, she felt like an idiot. Knocking a second time. "Jax, it's me, can I come in?" she asked.

Jax eyes whipped to the door, damn near jumping out of bed, he opened the door, staring back at him was Luna, her eyes were wide with surprise.

As the door swung open, she saw that Jax was standing there in nothing but his jeans. She's seen him without his shirt on before, but she never took the time to look at him, FUCK. Not letting her eyes bug out of her head, she smiled at him, "Do you have a minute. I have something to talk to you about."

The buzz he started to feel, was gone, stepping back, "Yea." He watched her step into his dorm, he could see that she was looking around, she's never been in his room before. He watched as she settled in the chair across from the bed.

He was a bit messy, but he wasn't dirty. She figured this had to be Gemma, but she wasn't here to judge him on his room. Taking a deep breath. "I did something, and I'm fairly certain you're going to strangle me, but figured before you do, you'd let me tell you want I got?" she pleaded.

Jax stared at her, moving to sit on the bed and look at her, "What did you do Luna?" he knew whatever it was it came from a good place, he wasn't going to lose his shit, yet.

Biting on her lip, she looked at Jax, she could feel him staring at her, willing whatever she had to say wasn't going to make his life more difficult. Letting out a sigh, "I couldn't sleep last night, I stayed up all night wondering what could be done for Abel, but I don't know the first thing about family courts. So," taking a deep breath, "I went to Lowen's office this morning, and spend most of the morning coming up with game plan."

The silence in the room was deafening, Luna was very nervous, she just watched him. He seemed like he was trying to figure out how to respond.

Jax was stunned, after a second for his brain to catch up to her words, "I have so many questions, but first, what did Lowen say?"

This was what made her nervous, if he rejected the idea she'd probably freak out. "Alley said that you need to be in a long-term relationship with someone that is stable. Show that Abel has a healthy family unit. Gemma is a good start, but she's the grandma, the judge in question has a thing for more traditional families."

Running his hands through his hair, he knew that made some sense. But how would that even work now? "I get that, but it's not like I can just make a long-term relationship happen, so I don't see how that helps."

Closing her eyes, she needed some strength. "I know that Jax, but you can be in one, just alter the start date." Opening her eyes. "Like with a well-respected ARNP, with an impactable record, who loves that little boy more than her own life, and who loves the kids father."

The weight of what she said hung in the room. He stared at her; she was willing to do this for him? For Abel? He couldn't ask her to do that, while he would love nothing more to be with her, he didn't want to make her feel it was the only way. "Luna, I would love nothing more than to be yours, and you to be mine, but I don't want you to feel forced to be with me, I want you to want me because it's what you want."

Staring at him, she knew what he was asking, she stood up, and lifted her shirt up, "Jackson, is this how I wanted to start our relationship, no, I wanted to let it happen on it's own, but the truth is, I always cared about you, probably more than I should. Don't get me wrong, I never lied to Happy, I did love him, but if over the last few months showed me anything, it wasn't a love that was supposed to last forever."

He stared at the empty spot on her ribs, standing, he put his hands over her ribs, "Luna are you sure?"

"Yes, I am. I know it's going to be a lot to work out, it's not going to be easy, but if we must move this faster than it would have developed on it, well that's what we do, it's not for anyone other than Abel. But Jax, we need to make rules and agreements now. I'm not going to be blind sided a second time." Taking a deep breath, "What do you expect from me as your old lady?"

He knew what she was saying. "I need you to be loyal to me, I won't share you with anyone. Be a mother to Abel, and any other kids we have. Stand by me. Be the strong woman you've always been." Touching her cheek, "What do you need from me?"

Leaning into his hand. "Don't lie to me, I can handle this life. I'm honestly not OK with the run shit, keep your hands to yourself in a fight. Don't treat me like I'm nothing, and finally; I want a baby Jax, not anytime soon, but I want one, are you good with all that?"

Taking a moment to hear what she was asking of him, he couldn't help but smile, while this is not how he wanted to this to go down, he'd take it. Thinking back what she said, "Did you know that we would end up together?" he asked.

Leaning into his chest, "No. But when you started coming by the house after Happy and I split and spending time with Abel, it wasn't hard to guess that something was happening." She took a deep breath, "You'll need to move in with me, Abel too. The sex stuff that comes with the relationship I'm OK with, but can we go slow, we are rushing so much, I want to take our time on some things."

Laughing in her ear, "Yea. But I'm going to hold you when we're in bed."

Titling her head back, she smiled, "Sounds fair. You need to bring this to the club, we need to get them on board, and the club whores need to be told that anything mentioned about Happy will get them banned. This only works if we have an established relationship." Rubbing her neck, "Means, that to the outside world, Happy and I never happened."
Jax knew that wasn't going to go over well with Happy, but this was his son, he'd do whatever it took to save him. Getting the girl just was a bonus. "Yea, I'll call Church. What about you, anyone in your life that needs to know that Happy didn't happen?"

Closing her eyes, a few tears escaped, "No, Charlie was the only one that knew it was Happy, everyone else knew I was with a SON, not which one, so it won't be hard to drop a bug in a few ears."

"Why are we moving into your place?" he asked as he was putting on his shirt and Kutte.

Folding her arms of her chest, "I refuse to live in a home you shared with the woman that almost killed Abel. I'm funny like that."

Putting his knife in his belt, "Makes sense." Stepping up to her, "You know that I'm never letting you go now."

Shrugging her shoulders, "I'll survive."

He wanted to kiss her but was waiting until he got it cleared through the club first. Running his nose across her neck, "we should go handle this."

Nodding her head, she didn't trust her voice, taking a big step back, she watched him watch her, it was a very intense moment. Seeing his smirk was enough to get her mind back to running, "Don't be a dick Teller, some of us haven't been touched in months." With that she walked to the door opening, "So, if you please go do President shit and see if we got a plan going?"

Walking past her, he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Yes ma'am." As he went out the door, he felt her walk next to him, while he wanted to throw his arm around her, this was going to be a hard sell to the club, but hopefully they got on board. He just needed a majority vote. Entering the bar, he could see that most everyone was here, "CHURCH." With that he went into the room and waited for everyone to file in.

Bobby could see that Jax was walking with purpose, so whatever Luna told him was a good plan. Giving her a little nod, he filed into the room.

Luna looked at the Prospect. "What's your name?" she asked him.

Dropping a bottle, "Phil, they call me Filthy Phil."

Nodding, she never understood how they came up with some of this shit, "I'm heading to the roof, please let them know where I am when they get out of Church?"

He smiled, "Of course, but," pausing because he didn't really know her, "who are you?"

Shit that was a good question, until shit was decided in Church, "I'm Luna, Otto's kid. You know what to tell them, right Phil?"

His eyes were wide, oh man. She's Otto's kid. "Yes, of course. You're on the roof." With that she headed back the towards the dorms and found the access hatch that led to the roof, climbing up, she shut the hatch, and headed to the chairs that Jax kept up here, this was his spot when he needed some alone time. She hoped that he wouldn't feel like she was invading his space, but she didn't want to wait in the bar and get harassed by a crow eater until she knew what the club decided, and it wouldn't be appropriate for her to wait in Jax's room. It was neutral where she was.
