Finding Happiness Ch. 42
Looking at herself in the mirror, Luna was anxious, most people would see a nervous bride, but she was 100% more than sure that marrying Jax was what she wanted to do, but there were things in the works that needed to come together, she was hoping that it all worked out. Taking a deep breath, she looked at herself, she had light make-up on, she wanted to have more of summer glow, since their wedding was outside, the dress she was wearing was a perfect little sundress that stopped just above her knee, it was a cream colored at the bottom there was an intricate lace patter that went halfway up, but what made her love it was the color, it was deep royal blue, very similar to the club colors. She wanted to make sure that everything about the wedding included her and club related things. As she went over any last-minute items, she could see Liz and Gemma pacing back and forth.
"You both need to relax, the whole point of our little project was to not let anyone know what we were doing." She scolded.
Gemma stopped immediately, "Sorry my sweet girl. You're right, all we have to do is relax and wait for the call."
Liz nodded. "It's been a long 6 months to get here, don't want to blow it last minute." She looked back at Gemma, "We just need to wait for the call that they're here, I timed it for after the first dance." she said.
Luna nodded. "Perfect." She looked at Gemma, "So, I know you hated Tara, and Wendy. You're still good with me marrying that son of yours?" she asked teasingly.
She couldn't help but snort, "Shut up. Of course, I am. Now turn around let's get a good look at you." She watched as Luna turned slowly, everything was perfect, from her dress to her make-up, but what made Gemma smile the most was she had her hair done, it twisted just so that her crow was on display. It pleased her to know that when Luna planned this wedding all those months ago that she did it to were she got her cute little wedding but made sure to consider Jax and what he liked.
"What time is it?" Luna asked the ladies.
Liz looked at her watch, "It's almost time." Looking over her friend, "You ready?" she asked.
Luna smiled at both the ladies, "Yea. It's been a long 6 months. Looking forward to this moment." She couldn't help but think back on the process getting here.
FLASHBACK
It was 2 months after the Jimmy O. incident, Jax was trying his best not to be over-protective but failing miserably.
"Jax, I know that you are trying to protect me, but you can't have the Prospect follow me everywhere I go. He doesn't exactly blend in." She watched as he rubbed his beard, she knew that he was pissed at her for saying something, but she honestly didn't care, this needed to stop.
"Fucking Christ Luna, can't you just do what you're fucking told? If you want to be an Old Lady, then you need to start listening.?" He yelled at her.
Her eyes went wide, "If I want to be an Old Lady?" she said. Tilting her head, "I thought I was?"
Still in his anger, "Not if you don't fucking listening. I don't want or need another Old Lady that doesn't listen."
She gasped at his words, was he seriously comparing her to Tara or Wendy? Biting her lip, she knew that snapping at him now would cause them to say shit to the each other that they may not come back from. Staring at him, she didn't know what about her request pissed him off. Holding her hands up, she looked at him with some tears in here eyes, "I need to go to work."
Jax watched her walk out of the house and still was fucking angry, doesn't she know that he is trying to protect her. Outside of Abel she was the most important person in his life. She was so fucking ungrateful.
Heading towards the clubhouse, as he parked his bike, he went inside, he could see his brothers relaxing around the bar, with a few sweet butts to provide the nightly entertainment. Heading to the bar, he grabbed a bottle of tequila, he needed to drink a bit to keep from letting his rage take over.
After a couple hours, he was getting his leg felt up by one of the nameless whores in the club, before it could go any further, he saw a shadow stand over him, Happy was glaring at him.
Happy could see Jax was in a special kind of mood, but he was surprised that he was letting some bitch push on him, he was so devoted to Luna. Normally this was something that he would stay the hell out of, but he could see his friend making a huge mistake, one that he wouldn't be able to come back from. Standing up he headed over to them, when Jax noticed him, he couldn't help the glare that he gave his President and friend.
Looking at the whore, "GET LOST, NOW!" he snapped at her.
Jax stood quickly at the retreating chick, "What the fuck Hap?
"I'm saying this once, you do what you're feeling, you'll regret it, she'll never forgive you. If you want to let her walk out of your life because you're in a mood, then do you brother, but I'm telling you from experience, you don't want to be a dick right now." He told his friend.
Jax was furious, how dare Happy speak on his relationship with Luna. "What you still want her? You mad that she chose me?" he taunted, he didn't know why he was saying these things.
Happy shook his head, he could understand why his brother was lashing out. "No, I have Liz, and I do love that girl. She's my Old Lady. I'm telling you this because I screwed up. You're a grown man Jax, you can do whatever the fuck you want. But when she leaves your ass, you'll have no one to blame but yourself." With that he walked out of the clubhouse and headed towards home, Liz would be getting off work soon and he wanted to spend some time with her.
Jax was stunned, rubbing his face, he knew that Happy wasn't wrong. If Luna found out, she wouldn't fight or scream, she would just walk away. He needed to get out of this clubhouse, he needed some fucking perspective. Jumping on his bike he headed straight to his mom's.
Walking in the door, he could see that she was sitting at the table smoking a joint. "Hey ma." he greeted.
Looking up with a smile, "Hey baby." As she looked at him, she could see that he was going through some shit. "What's wrong baby?" she asked him.
Sitting down, he took the joint from her hand and took a big hit, after he exhaled the smoke, he looked at his mom, taking a deep sigh, he sat there explained what they fought about, and what almost happened at the clubhouse.
It took Gemma all her self-control not to slap him out of that chair. Giving him a glare that would make most men cringe, "Jackson Nathaniel Teller, she isn't some damsel in distress, in fact Jackson, she could handle her own shit without you or the club." Taking her joint back, taking a hit, still glaring at her son, blowing out the smoke, "And for that shit at the club, I guess as a member of the SONs you can do what you want, when you want, but if you don't stop acting like a butt hurt child then you're going to lose the most important woman in your life."
Jax knew that Gemma wasn't going to pull any punches when it came to her opinion, sitting back in the chair, he looked at her, he didn't know what to say, she wasn't wrong. He came so fucking close to blowing up his relationship with her, because she asked him to take off her security detail.
She could see that he was warring in his head, she felt for him, but he always did this, even as a teen, acted out when he didn't like being told shit. "You have to own it." she said to him. His eyes got large, holding up her hand before he could speak, "Jax, if don't talk to her about this, she'll find out, you want your marriage to end before it really has a chance to begin?" she asked him.
Shaking his head no, "What if she tells me to get lost?" he asked, his voice filled with a little fear.
Gemma just shrugged, "Then you get lost, but you act out because she needs some space, then you don't deserve her. I expect more from you Jax. All my years with Clay, he never hurt me like that, you do that to her than you're just pretending to be a man." With that she stood up and headed to her bedroom to get dressed for her day.
He watched his mom walk away and knew that she was right. Clay never mistreated her, or embarrassed her with the club, neither did Opie. Hello, Otto was the one of the most violent of the SONs, but he worshipped Luann. He headed out the door he needed to talk to her.
Luna was just finishing up some charts in her office, getting ready to close out her shift and head home, she knew that she and Jax needed to talk this shit out. As she finished the last note, the man she was thinking about was standing in her doorway. "Jax?"
"Hey Angel." he said making his way towards the small couch that was in her office. "I need to talk to you." As he sat, he reached for her hand. Taking a deep breath, he explained his thoughts and why he wanted to protect her and explained what could have happened at the club. He watched as her eyes went wide with anger and sadness.
Pulling her hands out of his, she stood and backed away. "You need to leave, right now. Go back to the clubhouse or whatever, but I need to be alone."
Jax felt his heart breaking into a million pieces, but it was his fault, he did this. Quietly standing up, he could see that she was holding back her tears, he made it to the door before he turned back to her, "I'm sorry. I know you can't trust me right now, but coming that close to ruining this between us," he couldn't finish his thought, "I'm sorry. So very fucking Sorry." With that he left and headed to his mom's. He wasn't worried about getting involved with a sweet butt but needed to be in a home.
Luna watched him leave, and finally let herself cry. She knew that Jax would act out when he was pissed, his mom told him that, but it still hurt. Wiping her face, she shook off her feelings, she needed to get Abel from daycare and head home, she'd take a couple days to figure some shit out for herself. Letting out another sad sigh, she grabbed her shit and headed to get her son.
After 3 days of introspective reflection, talking with Gemma, Liz, and even Happy, she came to a decision that she could still look herself in the mirror. Knowing that he was at the clubhouse, she parked her truck and took Abel out of his car seat. "Let's go talk to daddy." Walking in she could see everyone turn and look at her. She could see Lyla there, looking at her with wonder, she walked up to her and handed her Abel, "Can you watch him while I go talk with Jax?" she asked.
Lyla smiled and took the baby. Without saying a word, she headed down the hallway, standing in front of his door, she knocked, and waited. It kind of reminded her of the first time she was here. It didn't take him long to answer, which boded well as a starter for this conversation, she saw his face as he opened the door, he looked tired, and sad. His surprised look would have been amusing if it wasn't so serious. "Can we talk?" she asked him.
"Of course." Stepping aside, he watched her walk in, her face was set, he couldn't tell if this was going to be good or bad for him, but he prayed for good. He didn't want to lose her. Watching her take a seat in the chair across from the bed, he swallowed his nerves, and took a seat across from her. And waited.
Luna took a moment to look around the room, she needed to center herself, looking back at Jax. "I'm still pissed at you." Rubbing the back of her neck, she looked him in the eyes, "First thing, I get the need to protect me, but sometimes Jax you need to cut the cord, or at least talk to me. I won't be held prisoner within this club." She watched him, he seemed to be absorbing what she was saying, but she was grateful that he wasn't speaking yet. "Secondly, I get it you're the President, if you wanted you could do whatever the fuck you wanted with whomever you wanted, but as much as I love you, I won't tolerate that shit. You want to punish me for speaking my mind and run off to the arms of some whore, then you can just go fuck yourself, I have too much self-respect for myself to be made a fool of." She could see that he was holding his breath. "This is it Jax, you do it again, now or 10yrs from now, I'm out." she finished.
He wanted to respond but he couldn't, falling forward on his knees, he placed his head in her lap and wept a bit.
Rubbing his head, she comforted him as best she could. "I love you Jackson, just promise me that you will talk to me before losing your shit, I've been told I'm a good listener."
That earned her a small chuckle. "I love you too. I'm so fucking sorry." Lifting his head, he grabbed her neck and pulled her down for a kiss. As he pulled back, he could see her nod, and pulled her towards the bed, he was going to apologize again and again.
END FLASHBACK
A lite knocking on the door, broke her out of her revery, Gemma finished putting the flower in her hair, and Liz opened the door.
"Well don't you look beautiful kiddo?" Otto said. Looking at the other ladies who were dressed in similar dresses but with a different pattern of sparkles on the bottom. "Looking good ladies." His eyes fell on Luna, she looked ravishing, Jax was a lucky man. Extending his elbow, "You ready kid?" he asked.
Smiling back at him, "Let's do this." Taking his elbow, she couldn't help but smile, it was a bittersweet moment, she was happy, but a small part of her was a bit sad that her dad couldn't walk her down the aisle, but Otto was someone that she loved like a father, so it worked out for her.
Gemma teared up a bit, and so did Liz, they gave her a quick hug and headed out and started the march towards the front of the aisle.
Otto looked at his daughter, "Last chance to make a run for it." He joked.
Snorting at him, "Not today. But thanks for the offer."
Hearing the wedding march, she looked up and nodded.
Otto led her down the aisle, he could see Jax at the front trying hard not to cry. Good. He needed to show a bit of emotion.
Jax stood at the front as the music started, he watched as his mom and Liz came down first, they looked beautiful, not that he would have expected anything else, but when Otto came into view and Luna on his arm, he damn near cried. She looked like the angel he always said she was. He focused solely on her, everything and everyone else seemed to melt away. As she got closer to the aisle, he could only think that he was finally getting it right, a girl that understood him, and the club, but was self-sufficient enough to know how to work within the club.
Standing in front of the officiant, they locked eyes, and smiled. It didn't take long for them to get through the vows, but what surprised her was before he said I do, Opie who was standing next to him, nudged him "Say it."
Rolling his eyes and looked at his now wife, "I promise to treat you as good as my leather, and …
(everyone that was at the ceremony)…. "AND RIDE YOU AS MUCH AS MY HARLEY."
Luna couldn't help but laugh, she smiled at everyone, and looked back at Jax.
The officiant smiled, "By the State of California, I know pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride.
Not wasting any time, he grabbed her and kissed her deeply, he didn't stop until Opie nudged him again.
Turning towards their family and friends, there was some tears, chuckling, and a bunch of smiles. They walked hand and hand down the aisle and they got cheered on it was a good start.
Luna just hoped her little project was the icing on the cake.
Smiling as they started their first dance, she couldn't help but laugh while she was dancing with him, "What?" he asked her.
Leaning her head on his shoulder, "Just happy, and surprised, didn't take you for a dancer Teller." She teased.
Stroking her back, "I can manage a slow dance, but past that the only time I move my hips like that is in the bed, with your legs wrapped around me." he commented.
Kissing him on the lips, "That's when we are alone tonight, for now, you behave, we give our son a kiss, then you can do extremely dirty things to me."
As the song ended, he swatted her ass, "I'm going to hold you to that, for the next 48hrs you're just going to be naked."
Walking hand and hand back to their family, she was greeted with hugs and kisses, Jax was getting slapped on the back. They sat down enjoyed their meals, and drinks.
Liz was happy for her friend, she could feel Happy staring at her, "What?" she whispered to him.
He smirked, "Nothing, you just look nice, I'm enjoying watching you." he retorted.
Snorting at him, "I love you, you perv."
He couldn't help but smile, Liz was amazing, she handled the club shit like a champ, didn't put up with his shit, and was a tough bitch. Not knowing what he did right in this life to not only find one chick to teach about love, but he found another to show him what forever love meant.
Liz could see that his brain was thinking about something, she wanted to ask him about it, but alas, her phone buzzed, looking down she could see that it was them. Her eyes going wide, leaned over and gave Happy a kiss. "Be right back. I need to get something." She stood and made eyes with Luna giving her the thumbs up, turning towards Gemma, giving her a smile and nod.
Happy watched the 3 women look at each other, he knew they were up to something, but not what, he knew asking would get all 3 of them to turn on him, shrugging it off, he turned back to everyone else.
Luna stood and walked towards Chibs, "Hey, Scotty, I'm commandeering you for a dance, so move it." she said to him.
"You get one lassie, I don't dance, but it's your day." He chided.
A nice slow song came up, she could see that he was in deep thought, "What's on your mind Chibs?" she asked him.
In moments like this he hated Luna, she was so perceptive. "Just missing my family, that's all."
Luna nodded, "I'm sorry Chibs, I really am, perhaps one day you can be reunited?" she asked.
Giving her a gentle hug, "It's not likely, but it is what it is." He shook off the emotions that he was feeling, now was not the time to be sad, he friends just got married, he didn't need to bring them down.
Luna could see Liz walking up with two women, 1 older with a little gray in hair, an exact duplicate, but younger. "Chibs, you know I love you right?" she asked.
Smiling down at her, "Of course lass, I do." She looked like she had tears in her eyes. "What's with the tears, the hard part is over." He teased.
"I need you not to pass out, OK? Or it will ruin my wedding." she said.
Not understanding, he just looked at her.
Smiling up at the Scot, "Turn around. There are people here to see you."
Giving her a strange look, he turned around as she suggested. Looking up at where her face was directed, he let out a gasp that was very unmanly. He silently walked up to them, almost afraid that he was dreaming, when he was in touching distance, tears fell down his face, "Fiona, Kerrieanne, how is this possible he asked."
Looking at her love, she smiled, "A little moon helped me my love." Her eyes never leaving his face.
Luna made her way back to the table where her family was, she kept her eyes on the family being reunited after almost 20yrs apart, tears fell down her cheeks.
She could here someone ask, "Who are they?"
Turning towards her family, "That is Fiona Larkin, and Kerrianne Telford," turning back towards the family seeing them hug each other, "That's Chibs family that Jimmy took from him. Jimmy didn't win, I made sure of that."
