Cupcakes And Panties
Walking down a hallway of Neptune High, Veronica Mars bit back a smile when she realized a familiar step fall in line with hers and kept walking as if she hadn't noticed.
"So we're on for tonight then?"
Stopping at her locker and releasing an agitated sigh as she turned the lock, she responded with an annoyed, "What do you want, Logan?"
"Such unabashed hostility? From Veronica Mars? How curiously out of the ordinary…" he retorted, resting his index finger on the edge of his mouth. "I hope this iffy mood of yours doesn't ruin the hot, steamy sex we had planned for tonight…"
"Oh. Right. That."
"Incidentally, the whole monogamy thing," he added, slowly intaking a breath of air "Yeah, not gonna work for me. I'll call though."
She quirked an eyebrow and smiled at him sidelong.
"Maybe."
Wordlessly she cocked her head and faced him with a knowing look.
"Yeah, probably not."
"I commend your honesty, Logan. It's very gentlemen-like of you. Unfortunately I'm busy tonight. I have my tap-dancing-barefoot-on-an-anthill recital so…" she replied mimicking the way he'd taken in a breath of air. "Sorry, about that"
"That's tonight! And I wasn't invited? Well, color me hurt, Veronica. You know you have a running invitation to all my strip-teases at the Banana-Hut. None of which you've shown up to, by the way," he replied pinching the bridge of his nose in mock hurt "Just imagine being in a spotlight, all greased up, wearing nothing but a bowtie and not seeing the one set of eyes in the crowd you're searching for…"
"Sounds awful. You should write a song about it."
"Oh, don't be cruel. It's unbecoming of a lady."
"So is associating with you in public, but here I am. Speaking to you in broad daylight."
"Oh, it must be such a chore to be perfect."
"And I bear it so graciously," Veronica turned to grin triumphantly, pulling a Spanish book out of her locker and sticking it in her messenger bag.
"So tonight then?"
"No silly! Tonight isn't the seventh of Not-A-Chance-In-Hell…"
"Oh, I could do this for the rest of my life…"
"What? Exhale venom."
"Exchange witty banter with my beloved."
"If our generation is calling the dribble you spew wit…"
"Oh, don't share your opinions about society. Ladies don't share opinions."
"No? What do we share? Cupcakes?"
"And panties."
"Oh, yeah. I think there's a movie by that name I saw in your collection."
"Mhhm. I had a small role in it."
"Quite small from what I recollect."
"Not just now, Sugar. Incidentally, I'm gonna need you to walk about a foot in front of me for the remainder of the day."
"A foot?"
"Make that two. I wouldn't want to leave a bruise on your back. I mean, unless you'd be into that…"
"Aren't we a little cocky?"
"Well, not little. Didn't you just hear all that boasting I did a second ago?"
"Ah, but I've seen your car."
"Ah, but have you seen the back seat? Where this can all be settled in a matter of a few, passionate hours…"
Smirking, Veronica shut her locker and turned to face Logan. "Eight o'clock. We'll catch a movie."
"Wow. That took surprisingly less effort than I thought it would. You know in some countries agreeing to a movie also implies that you'll skip third period to go down on me in the janitor's closet…"
Her eyes narrowed to an amused glare as she shook her head and turned to walk away.
"Not this one though, I guess," Logan shouted to her figure as she walked down the hall, smiling as he noticed a grin spread across her lips.
