Nobody is prepared to lose everything. At least, I certainly wasn't. Hell, I didn't even know that it happened at first.
I woke up on some dirt, leaning against a tree in the middle of a forest I didn't recognize. When I came to, I jumped up, only to immediately lean back against the tree at the headache that tore its way through my brain. "Damn, what the hell happened earlier?" I wondered. "What time is it? How long was I out?"
Making sure I wasn't about to fall over, I went to look at my watch, only to realize it was missing. Immediately, I patted myself down, checking every pocket. No phone. No wallet. I felt at my neck for the necklace I kept on me at all times, only to let out a relieved sigh as I remembered that it was on my desk at home before I left.
I had gone to party with a few friends of mine, and I guess that I had partied just a bit too hard, since I couldn't remember anything once I walked through the door. The headache and the fact that my mouth felt like chalk dust also helped me come to that conclusion.
"Even if I DID get completely hammered," I thought to myself, "This doesn't make any sense. Where is everyone?"
My friends were idiots, and more than a little wild when they partied enough, but none of us would just leave each other unconscious in the middle of the woods. Why did we even come out here?
As the headache began to recede, I took a better look at the forest I had woken up in, and I came to a slightly terrifying realization. "I don't recognize anything in this forest. What the fuck?" I pulled up my shirt for a moment, and started inspecting my chest and stomach. "Okay, no wounds and no stitches, so I didn't stumble out here all on my own, nor did I get my organs snatched. That's good, at least. I feel like shit already."
The slight reassurance helped, but did nothing to calm the itch in the back of my skull, telling me something was wrong. "I'm still missing everything I had on me. I could see the guys holding onto my phone and wallet, but why the watch? This isn't right." Realizing I was still stuck in the middle of an unknown forest, I resolved to stop my pondering until I found a way out of here.
I turned my eyes up to the sky. "It's still dark, so it couldn't have been that long, right? So however I got here, there should be something I can follow to get out of here." I looked at the ground around me, trying to see if I could find some sort of trail, or maybe footprints from someone who could give me answers. The dirt nearby looked undisturbed, and there were no walking trails in sight.
What was in sight, however, was a dim light over the top of some of the trees in the distance.
Seeing as I had no other leads, I started my trek towards that light, hoping I could figure out where I was. As I got closer to the light, I realized I could hear the faint rushing of water from up ahead. The dryness of my mouth urged me on, and I started moving quicker towards what I realized was an end to the forest.
"Oh thank God!" I thought tiredly, "I really hope it's drinkable though, I'm parched." But when I got to the edge of the trees, I slowed, and eventually came to a stop. The forest ended where some sort of park began, with a large fountain in the middle. The fountain wasn't what made me stop, it was the two people walking up to it.
They were a couple on a date, a young man with messy brown hair wearing an open dark grey button down and a black polo shirt underneath, walking next to a girl with long black hair and a lavender top. They both looked like they were in high school, around 17 years old.
The couple were talking to each other, and I could hear what they were saying. The tree-line was pretty close to the fountain, twenty, maybe thirty feet, and they weren't exactly quiet. I was going to call out to them, but I stopped myself, a chill going down my spine. I could hear them talk, yes, but I realized I couldn't understand the boy at all.
"What the hell?" I thought to myself, a pit of unease slowly growing in my stomach.
He was speaking, for sure, but not in a language I understood. Japanese, maybe? It would have made sense if they both spoke that language, but the girl spoke in perfect English. And even stranger, they both seemed to understand each other perfectly. In the back of my mind, I felt a faint sense of deja vu, like I should recognize the scene I saw before me. "Wait, there's no fuckin-"
It was right then that the girl asked the boy something. A question that immediately set my heart plummeting. Not because of what would come next, but because of what it meant. I knew where I was, and I knew I was probably fucked.
"Would you please die for me?" The girl asked in a disturbingly sweet voice.
While trying not to panic and give myself away, I could see the boy look confused, right until the girl changed. In an instant, two wings like that of a crow appeared from her back, and a pressure came over me.
If I had to draw a comparison, I could only imagine what a mouse would feel upon locking eyes with a snake. Terror, and the sheer knowledge that the girl in front of me was not something I could run from, and definitely not something I could fight. The best thing I could do was stay where I was, and pray to everything that she didn't notice me.
But then again, I already knew that. I knew exactly where I was, and that terrified me.
As she transformed, her clothes changed, in a flash of light. What was once a casual outfit turned into something out of a S&M magazine. The lavender shirt became a few paltry strips of leather, barely wider than a belt, along with leather pauldrons, one of them tipped with metal spikes several inches long. The skirt did not go through a much better change, and if I wasn't absolutely terrified of this girl, I would have made a few jokes at her expense, mainly about the leather fetish she seemed to have. The leather gloves up to her bicep and the thigh highs (also made of leather) didn't exactly help her case.
"I honestly can't tell if that getup makes her more or less intimidating." I thought to myself, trying not to move. Even though I had expected that outfit, it was very, very different seeing it in person. I was almost impressed at how obscene it was, especially when the girl in question could easily be a model.
But then again, what could I really expect from a Fallen Angel?
The boy took a few steps back, confused and more than a little intimidated. "MOVE, you dumbass! RUN!" I wanted to scream, but I knew that would only lead to two deaths, so I kept my mouth shut. The boy started talking while backing away, but he tripped and fell back, just staring at the girl. Though I couldn't tell what he was saying, the panic on his face was very much visible.
"Well I have to admit, I did have some fun today." The fallen said as she stared down the young man. "Considering how naive and childish you are, things could have been much, much worse."
She then brought her hand up in front of her face, where I was just able to make out a pink scrunchy around her wrist. "Thanks for the gift, too. Very sweet, Issei." She then opened her hand, and a bright red light began to emanate from it. Before my eyes, a jagged red spear of light appeared, and she bared it at the boy on the ground, Issei, who must have started begging for his life. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
The girl threw that terrible spear, so quickly it just seemed like a flash, until it stopped halfway through Issei. The poor kid didn't even have the strength to scream. I saw the monster lean down next to his ear, and whispered something to him, but I wasn't close enough to hear anything. She then stepped back, and the spear dematerialized, leaving a massive hole straight through the kid, who fell over on his back, struggling to breathe but to no avail.
"Oh, thanks again for the lovely date. It was fun." The Fallen Angel said, still with that disturbing smile on her face, and flew into the night, leaving a small trail of feathers behind.
For a moment, all I could do was stare at the body of the soon-to-be-dead boy from behind the tree I was hiding behind. I admit, I briefly considered just leaving him, but as I turned away, I hesitated. "Damn it, me and my stupid bleeding heart. Fuck it." I thought to myself, already creeping over to the boy. As I got closer, I could see him holding his hand out in front of his face, staring at the blood. Though it probably wasn't the most sanitary choice, I reached out, and held that same hand. I could see his eyes flicker to mine, and I knelt down next to him.
I had no idea what to do, and to be fair, there really wasn't a lot I could do for a kid with a hole in him several inches wide. "You're not going to die alone." I thought to myself, meeting his eyes. He looked at me, and I saw a hint of understanding in them. He was too weak to move, or even speak, but I imagine if he could he would probably be grateful. As I reached out to close his eyes, I saw another flash of red, and I stiffened up before realizing that it was coming from the pocket of the boy. "Shit, she showed up a lot sooner than I thought."
Knowing what would come next, I looked down at the kid one last time, set his hand down on his chest, and turned around to sprint back into the woods. I would have ran in the other direction, to where I knew a town would be, but I had that kid's blood all over my hand and my knee, which could only bring trouble. But as I ran back into the woods, I only had one thought on my mind.
"I'm trapped in a death world disguised as a near-pornographic anime, and I just walked into the main character's debut. Fucking hell, this is gonna suck."

In the middle of a park, as the rays of moonlight beamed down on a grisly scene, a young woman appeared in a flash of light. She appeared to be in her late teens, a year or two older than the boy lying in front of her. Her skin was pearly white, smooth and without blemish. Her eyes were a bright blue, glowing with an almost ethereal light. And her hair... her hair was the color of blood, the color of the pool the boy was laying in. She was beautiful, to the point of being otherworldly, almost to the point of impossibility.
The woman looked down at the boy, for a moment, before turning towards the woods, peering into the darkness. After a moment, she snapped her fingers, and a small girl appeared besides her. The girl was adorable, around , with white hair and yellow-amber eyes. The red-haired woman turned to her, with a small frown on her face. "Koneko, how many people were here?" She asked the small girl.
Koneko paused for a moment, sniffing the air around her. "...Three, president." The woman narrowed her eyes. "Are you sure?" Koneko nodded, a look of certainty in her eyes. "The fallen was here, she killed the pervert. The third was a human too, and the trail leads into the woods." Koneko pointed at the darkness, in a seemingly random direction. "Should I go after him?" she said tonelessly.
The woman paused for a moment, seemingly in thought, before turning her gaze back to the boy bleeding out on the ground, now little more than a corpse. "Let's focus more on our new club member instead," she said to Koneko. "After all, he was certainly killed for a reason." From nowhere, the woman procured a small box, and several crimson chess pieces, all pawns floated out before her. "Let's see what makes you so special, Issei Hyoudou." The woman said.
The pieces floated forwards, one at a time, as if inspecting the corpse, and with each pawn the woman grew more and more intrigued. Finally, when all eight pawns were lined up in front of the boy, they stopped and began to glow with a hellish red light.
"Well, well, Issei," said the woman. "It appears you have something very valuable." The pawns, glowing even brighter than before, sunk into the chest of the corpse, as it too began glowing with that blood-red light. "I wonder just what makes you so special," the woman whispered, a ghost of a smile on her face. "Welcome to the family, my new servant." In a flash of movement, two large bat-like wings sprouted from her back. "From this moment onward," the woman declared, "You will live on for my sake."
As the light dimmed, the boy began to breathe, though he was still unconscious. The woman waved her hand, and a set of circles inlaid with runes and symbols appeared underneath the boy, and he vanished into motes of light, transported away safely to his bed. Koneko looked up at the woman. "His body is still very injured, President." Koneko said quietly. "You will have to heal him soon." The woman giggled. "I know, Koneko, don't you worry. You can go home now, my cute servant," the woman patted Koneko on the head. "You've done a very good job, as always."
The girl nodded silently, and another circle appeared under her, whisking her away to her home. As the circle dissipated, the woman stayed, and looked out into the forest. "Who are you, mystery human?" the woman thought to herself. "And who's side are you on?"
She then looked away from the woods, another runic circle appeared, and the woman vanished in a flash of crimson, the same color as her hair.
If you made it this far, welcome!
This is just a little passion project of mine. I've always wanted to write a fic, and I decided to just sit down and bite the bullet, so here we are.
I'm unsure if I'm going to have a consistent schedule or not, still just starting out. We will see what happens as the fic progresses.
Also, though the show's characters will be shipped at least a little bit, I don't think my SI is gonna do that.
I have no idea what I'm doing so advice is appreciated, though I can't guarantee I'll follow all of it.
Anyways, that's the first chapter! Hope you all enjoyed and we will see where we go from here.
Dragon out!
