Wanda's mind woke up before her body did, trapping her in a pit of her own thoughts.
She remembered everything: all the terrible parts of her past before her life in Westview that she hadn't thought about in years, every weird thing that happened during her time in Westview that she'd ignored, or chosen to forget. It was all so clear now.
Even before she'd gotten the ability to sense other minds from HYDRA's experiments, she'd always sensed a connection to Pietro. Her mind had never before felt no one else but herself.
She'd never felt so alone.
These thoughts circled through her mind for what felt like hours before she started getting sensations from her body. Something was holding her hands still, her fingers stiff.
Where was she? Why couldn't she sense anyone?
There was an whirring sound from somewhere to her left.
"Hey, you awake?" a soft voice asked.
She knew that voice, Agnes.
She forced her eyes open. She was in a basement.
Agnes was sitting in a chair next to her.
"Was it all a dream?" she asked.
"You mean you putting a whole town in a pocket dimension? No, that happened."
Was that what she'd done?
Her hands were behind her back and encased in braces that kept her fingers immobilized.
But she didn't care about those at the moment.
That it hadn't been a dream, and Agneswas here at her bedside instead of Vision, led her to one conclusion.
"Vision's gone, isn't he?"
"Yes deae, we havent properly met im Agatha Harkness "
Wanda tried to free her hands, wondering what came next.
"Sorry dear, put those on you because i didn't want you to trying to use magic," Agatha said.
There was a woman named Monica Rambeau. She told me what I was doing, but I didn't believe her." She had kept that a secret for so long, but finding out Monica Rambeau had been right, had been telling the truth, made the weight of the guilt suffocating, she couldn't endure keeping the secret any longer. "I hurt her. I didn't mean to. It was an accident. I think I might have killed her."
"You didn't," Agatha stated. "Rambeau's alive. You shot her through the interdimensional barrier around Westview, but she survived it. It changed her, like the Mind Stone changed you. She's got powers now."
"But she's okay?"
"Yeah."
Relief of the guilt she'd been suppressing for years washed over her.
"You were being selfish, and cowardly. Wanda you were too afraid of losing what I had to consider what I was doing." Agatha put her hand on her shoulder. "You didn't even know what you were doing. And I and others sensed your great power, now i have what i want i just need one last thing."
Wanda looked at Agatha.
"Now Wanda?" Agatha prompted gently. "Why don't you give me your powers"
Loki stared down at the fake Pietro, he was dead, the twins had vanished as soon they entered Agnes's house with Loki and the fake Pietro had attacked him. Loki had killed him, Loki moved to the stairs and headed down into the basement.
He could hear a female voice, as he peered around a corner he saw them. Wanda bound and floating in the middle of the room and a woman who must be Agnes walking around her, the woman looked like she was enjoying having Wanda bound.
Loki watched and waited and as soon as this woman named Agnes made portal to push Wanda through he struck, he stabbed and pushed the woman through the portal before closing it behind her. He turned to Wanda.
"I'm sorry," she said.
"He swallowed. "Wanda, what you said earlier, that we do not have the option to live normal, quiet lives... The fact is, we did. We had over twenty years together, twenty years to be ordinary, to be happy. That is more than many people get. You made that possible for us. It may be over now, but you had it." Loki set her free.
She wrapped her arms around him. At first he only kissed the top of her head, but then she kissed his cheek, then he kissed her lips, then she kissed his neck.
They made love with an odd blend of deliberation and desperation, both knowing without wanting to acknowledge that it might be their last time. After they dressed, seconds later, a glowing gold portal appeared in the room.
"That's our cue," Loki said quietly.
She started walking slowly toward it. She stopped before stepping through and waited Loki smiled, Wanda took one last look. They stepped through the portal. It closed behind the,
With yesterday's snow, Westview finally joined the rest of New Jersey in winter.
The only footprints visible in the fresh snow in this part of town were the ones Mobius , Ravonna and Hunter B-15 left behind them.
"So Wanda Maximoff just disappeared in the middle of the night without telling anyone where she was going?" Hunter asked incredulously, apropos of Ravonna telling her.
"That's what we don't know or Loki's location," Mobius replied in a lightly facetious tone. "To tell you the truth, other than Wanda going to work for TVA this might be the best outcome we could've hoped for. It saves a lot of people some inconvenient questions."
he looked around at the quiet, snowclad residential street, "Hope they know we will find them."
