Author's Note: I just tweaked it a little to my liking…I also used a capital 'T' on The in The Doctor, 'because it's a title, a name, a proper noun. Yeah? Also, there's not much action in this, just talking. And crying of course! (sobs)
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Doctor Who related, not even one of those cool remote controlled Daleks or a David Tennant action figure. (sigh)
Alternative Ending
"So, you've still got Mickey Boy then," The Doctor spoke as if to comfort her. He longed to tell her not to despair without him, and all he could do was point out she still had her ex.
"Yes. There's five of us now: Mum, Dad, Mickey…" Rose smiled broadly, turning her head from her feet and looking straight into hid eyes, she finished with "…and the baby"
His mouth was so wide it seemed it could open no further, his eyebrows were raised so high they were almost hidden into his hair.
"You're not?" he said softly. She giggled.
"Yes. I'm five months along," she beamed, her smile widening. They both laughed happily with joy, Rose subconsciously holding her small bump. The Doctor walked forward as if to embrace her, then remembered of the impending doom on two universes collapsing and thought better of it.
Slowly, both their smiles faded, each with something troubling clouding their happy thoughts. It was The Doctor who spoke first. "So…you and Mickey got back together again," he pouted glumly. Rose just looked at him, her hair whipping about her face, but did not reply. He took her silence as a yes. "Well, I…I hope your both very hap-"
"Stop!" Rose weeped. "I, I went for my first scan."
"And? Is there something wrong!"
"No. Everything's fine. There were four heartbeats."
"Four!" The Doctor said incredulously. "Four? So, that's quadruplets, or…?"
"Twins," she replied simply, letting this hang in the air. She noticed his breathing and become shallow and quick, he seemed to be clutching his hearts.
"Our twins?" She giggled again, and then promptly burst into tears. He moved to comfort her, but had to content with just beaming until she stopped. How he wished he could hold her in his arms.
"Of course they're yours, you silly Time Lord!" Rose chuckled through her tears, using the back of her sleeve to wipe her eyes. She sniffed loudly. "But, you know, they'll never…never know who their Daddy is?" He nodded sadly.
"Maybe, one day…"
"Yeah, maybe." Tears poured down her cheeks, smudging her make up. Black lines ran down her face, running in feathery criss-crosses. "I…I love you!" Rose cried.
"Quite right too," The Doctor grinned. "And I suppose…if this is my last chance to say it…Rose Tyler…I love you!"
With that he faded away, back to his TARDIS, a lonely traveller again. Sobbing, Rose ran to her mother, hugging her tight, rubbing her tummy. A single tear rolled down The Doctor's cheek as he fiddled with the many dials and buttons and levers of his beloved TARDIS. But she will never be as beloved as my Rose, he thought.
Authors note: Yes, it's short. A slightly happier ending, minus all the crying. And I was kinder than Russell T. Davies, because I let him say 'I love you!' (cries)Sorry if any of the speech from the actual episode is wrong, I did this from memory.
I also think that they did have a more physical relationship than what we actually see- if you get my meaning. They mention little adventures or places they've been that we haven't actually seen, e.g. "I was at the wedding, you got her name wrong," as says The Doctor, but we never saw Pete and Jackie's wedding. So therefore we might not have seen all the, um, interactions between them.
