It was two days before Christmas.
Joline had said that she was going to be busy and asked Peter to water her plants. She had been gone throughout the morning and left him a text. Peter decided that he would do so and then go on his usual patrol.
He went insise her apartment with the key she left behind. Her apartment still smelled of her fresh baking.
Peter looked around and sighed. Joline's apartment was way better than his was. She had a bedroom of her own, unlike his. Her living room was quite spacious as well, and she even have a kitchen and a dining room.
Peter thought that Joline had to have a lot of money to be able to live this way. But money or not, what matters is Joline herself.
Peter liked Joline.
She was nice and didn't hesitate to share. She was fun to be with as well. She likes to joke around and make him laugh, and also likes puns as well. He would like to get to know her more.
He was watering through the plants in her windowsill, wondering about her, when he noticed... They were plastic. He scowled and sent an annoyed message to Joline.
Peter: ha ha, funny
Joline: :) lol
Joline: u found the note yet?
Peter: what note?
Joline: look under.
With a raised eyebrow, Peter lifted up her plants up to find the note, only to get water everywhere. He cursed and quickly went to her kitchen to clean up the mess. Joline texted back,
Joline: lmao u lifted the pots didn't u
Peter can't help but roll his eyes, the corner of his lips curving up. He leaned on her kitchen counter, happily looking at his phone and took some tissues.
Peter: i wasted my time for this
Joline: dw
Joline: when u find the note, that's ur payment
Peter sighed and went back to her pots and cleaned the spilled water. He checked around and found nothing until something clicked. He lifted the flowering can and there was a note. He took it and it read,
Hey Pete :P
There is a jar of fresh gingerbread cookies in the cupboard for you.
Thank you for 'watering' my plants!
-J
He smiled as he read her message and went to her cupboard to find exactly a jar that has his name on it. He smiled and sent her a thank you text.
Peter: thanks for the cookies
Joline: ur welcome :0
Joline: have u tried them yet?
Peter: i'm still opening the jar
Peter: i'm sure it'll be delicious
Joline: bet
Peter opened the jar and tasted one of the cookies. It really tasted great. Joline was a great baker and cook. He texted her back again.
Peter: they were delicious
Joline: yum, of course they were
Joline: sorry to bother u with something like this, weren't you supposed to be working?
Peter: um it's a flexible side job, u don't have to worry.
Peter: by the way, when are you coming back?
Joline: around 7PM, y?
Peter: just asking.
Joline: ok then, good luck at work!
Peter sighed. He wanted to ask her out to the Christmas Eve party that F.E.A.S.T. were holding. Joline had always asked him out to do something together... He wanted to do the same to her.
Peter went back to his apartment dejectedly and changed into his Spider-Man costume. He had work to do. Maybe he'll ask Joline later?
He swung by the F.E.A.S.T. headquarters and found it lively. A large Christmas tree was in the hall and underneath it was presents for the homeless.
The kids were excited to see him there and swarmed him with love. They were also excited to open their presents, but Spider-Man conviced them that they could wait.
They asked him if he was going to the Christmas Eve party, and he sadly answered no. Peter would be there, not Spider-Man.
As he finished wrapping up he met the party organizer, Dave, who looked worried while holding a clipboard.
"Heya, Dave. What's up? You look worried!"
"Hi, Spider-Man. It's just..." Dave trailed off, trying to find words in the middle of his jumbled worry.
"There was a generous donator who donated presents for the people of F.E.A.S.T... It was quite large in quantity, and we wanted it to be a surprise, so we put it in a truck at the back alley. This morning, I was checking inventory on the truck with the presents to find it missing!" Dave explained.
"The presents are missing? Is the truck still there?" He asked.
"No... The whole truck was stolen as well." Dave said dejectedly.
"Oh no. Can you take me to the back alley where you put the truck?" At that, Dave nodded and led him through the back doors.
"This is it," Dave pointed to the empty slot. "It was just here last night.
"When was the last time you saw it?"
"Around 2 AM, I was busy with party planning stuff and had checked everything over, including the truck, when I locked up last night." Dave sighed. "The F.E.A.S.T. members that were around here last night said that nothing happened and seemed fairly normal. Maybe we should invest in CCTV cameras after this..."
Spider-Man analysed the scene of crime. There were no fences around at the back alley so people can easily slip in and out.
"Maybe add a fence as well, as people can easily slip in and out?" He suggested.
"Noted." Dave sighed again and wrote something on his board.
"Well Dave, I think I can help you with this." Dave's eyes lit up at the sentence.
"You can?!"
"Yeah, give me the license plate of the truck and I'll try my best to find it before the party."
Dave quickly wrote on a new paper and ripped it, quickly giving it back to Spider-Man.
"Thanks a ton, Spider-Man! You really lifted up some of the weight on my shoulders." Dave had really been busy with work.
"I'll do my best!" He promised before thwipping away.
Now, to find the missing truck...
It was easier to track criminal activities back when he had the Stark Suit that had Stark Tech in it. EDITH was gone as well, and after Strange erased all of the memories of people knowing him he had nothing.
What he had, was his brain though.
Peter managed to recreate a small functional device that makes him connect to the NYPD communications mainframe. Peter had made it out of salvaged junk and got in easily.
It was basically hiding in plain sight.
As he opened his broken down laptop he tried opening cameras that were around New York. With a self made app he tracked the license plate number.
If there was Ned, his best friend would do it for him.
Thankfully his laptop beeped as it found the truck. Peter put his mask back on and webbed away to find the truck.
He found the truck along with several masked men in some warehouse. He snuck in through the glass roof that was open for ventilation.
There were two other trucks lined up, and a few men were yelling to each other how they stole a truck full of presents that were obviously for kids.
It was obvious that they were stealing supplies from several stores since there was food crates in one truck and medicine from the other.
As the men yelled at each other, he noticed movement from inside the truck. A mysterious hooded figure casually went out of the truck holding a gun, not making any footsteps.
His spider senses tingled as the figure aimed the gun to the masked men, and he sprung into action and thwipped the masked man away from the line of sight of the hooded figure onto a pillar.
"What the--"
"It's Spider-Man!"
"Wait, who's that guy over there?! He's holding a gun!" At that, the rest of the men took out their own guns and aimed them to the two vigilantes.
The hooded figure looked at him in distate. He got a better look at the hooded figure who was wearing tinted goggles and a mask under the hood. He was suprised to hear a girly scowl.
"You just had to, don't you?" She chastised, and took out several throwables from her backpocket and threw them at the masked men. It looked like shuriken.
"I'll deal with you later, Spider-Boy." She turned to a man just about to punch her and took him down.
Peter's eyes widened underneath the mask and fought the upcoming guy from his back while sneaking glances at the mysterious hooded figure.
She seemed hostile only to the masked men and didn't seem to mind him spoiling her plans. As he deemed the hooded figure as a non hostile, he saw her raise her gun again.
"No guns!" Spider-Man yelled at her.
"It's made out of rubber bullets!" She defended herself.
"Don't kill anyone!" He said in a final tone.
"Fine." She put the gun inside her holster and cracked her knuckles.
"We're gonna do this the hard way."
