well, i'm back from... wow, a month break... not too bad.
FYI SAT II's are easier than the SAT's, just a little hint.
ok, to clear things up, the Icelings were introduced in the earlier chapters, i think chapter 3 or 4. i had a nightmare about what they looked like, right after i decided to put them in, whiched actually helped me describe them, but if they're not vivid enough, let me know, i'm still undecided about keeping them.
this chapter also introduces another charactor, who i am most deffinitely keeping, i have big plans for him.
and kudos to my sister Angie for helping me figure out the geography of eniram, arret, tarelia and tollone, i have a map made on computor paper, so i can keep the story straight.
just a reminder----- the charmed forest (it was supposed to be Charmed Wood, but i messed up, i'll fix it later) was partly burned 1000 years before the story, the part that grew back is now hadsworth and it's forest, hope that clears thing's up before you read.

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL STORY, I WILL BE USING THIS LATER TO (hopefully) PUBLISH.
Chapter 17
The Icelings
Anyé was up and about at dawn, but Simon and Garron had already been missing for hours. Sampson was no longer tethered to the rocks with the other horse, which was saddled and ready, pawing at the ground.
She walked around their cave for a moment; the colors were definitely much more magnificent in daylight. Blues and greens sparkled along the walls of the cavern, giving it an ethereal quality. She looked around at the walls and discovered marks, created by who knows what, the deep scratches and gouges made her shiver uncomfortably. She turned away from them, and prepared to settle
Anyé walked back to the fire, now just ash and dying embers, and saw a scrawled message right next to the warm stones.
"Went to find some supplies and scout ahead, meet us at the fork in the path at noon. Don't worry, Red is with us."
Garron and Simon
Turning to the horse, Anyé laughed, "It figures! Come on; let's go find that fork in the path."
Anyé rode the horse north on the narrow path that they had traveled on the night before. Everything was peaceful and calm. The birds were chirping melodiously, there was a light breeze in the air, and the sky could not have been bluer.
She hummed a little tune as she went something she couldn't quite place, but thought that Mary must have taught her. She could not be gloomy on such a beautiful day. After a couple of hours, Anyé noticed a strange change in her surroundings: The birds were no longer singing. She reigned in the horse, and listened. No sound at all. Even the breeze had departed. The bright blue sky had grown dark.
Anyé looked around in alarm as a creaking noise sounded out behind her. She spurred the horse on, something was not right. As she ran, a looming figure appeared, Anyé's heart pounded, knowing she should have paid more attention to Saul's parting warning. "An Iceling!"
The tall frozen creature towered over the right side of Anyé and the horse. It stared menacingly down at them, and reached its long frozen hand towards them. Its fingers resembled icicles and they shimmered erilyin the morning sun. Anyé sat stock still on her horse, not daring to breathe. As the chilling hand advanced closer and closer to her, the air became icy, and her breath froze in a wintry mist.
Unexpectedly, the horse spooked, and ran away from the Iceling, breaking the ice giant's spell. The creature's hand had been so close that it grazed Anyé's face as they ran, tearing off her necklace. Anyé screamed in shock as the frozen fingertips brushed her cheek and right eyelashes. Spidery ice covered her lashes; her face was frosted over where the Iceling had touched her. When she looked back, the Iceling was gone, but his tracks were clear in the daylight, jagged mounds of ice receding back into the forest.
Anyé and the horse continued running facing the sun. Heading east, the direction that Saul had warned her not to go. She did not see the weathered sign as she galloped past, determined to escape the Iceling:
CHARMED FOREST
BEWARE: FIREKE'S LAIR AHEAD
a funny little side note about Fireke, his name came from these little twin boys that would come in for swim lessons where i worked, and every day when i asked them their names(last) they would say together "FIREKE!" (which was not, in fact, their real last name) but they said the funniest questions, and their dad would give these classic dad answers, it was too sitcom-y.
ummm, i just totally lost my train of thought, my favorite song Cablecar (over my head) by the fray just came on.
well i'm putting 2 more chapters on, i think thats fair, it's no fun waiting for only one chapter.
thanks for reading!
cyber good karma goes out to reviewers, just think of how great your summer could be...
