Majora's Mask Prologue

What it's about:

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is set in Termina, a land that mirrors Hyrule. Termina is a world that is trapped within a perpetual three-day cycle, between the time when Link first enters Termina at the beginning of Majora's Mask, and when a large falling moon crashes into the land causing its destruction. Link is the only person who can rewind time, and with the help of Tatl, tries to save Termina from its terrible fate.

Some quick info about the 'fic:

This is a fun fanfiction that I decided to start a while ago, and it is a passion project. I will write when I have the time, but I will make sure that each chapter is as good as I can make it. I fully intend to finish it, though it may take some time due to real-world stuff that I also have to do.

Acknowledgments:

To my brother, who said it would be a dumb idea

To Nintendo, for making such an incredible game

To my fans who all enjoy reading my fanfictions!

And finally…

I DO NOT INTELLECTUALLY OWN NINTENDO OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, PLACES, OR OTHER ASPECTS THAT ARE SHOWN IN THIS BOOK.

(But If I did, I would be a lot less broke! XD)

(Here is also some info about how magic works in both Hyrule and Termina.)

The Creation of Hyrule and the mysteries of the Weave of magic

Long, long ago, Before time began, before spirits and life existed, Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule. Din, the goddess of power. Nayru, the goddess of wisdom. And finally, Farore, the goddess of courage.

With Din's strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth. Nayru then poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world. Farore, with her rich soul, produced all life forms and fauna who would uphold these sacred laws that were created.

These three great goddesses, with their labors completed, then departed for the heavens. Three golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our Hyrule's providence. And as for the resting place of the triangles, it has become the Sacred Realm.

The weave of magic, or rather, the "Weave" as most people call it in the Kingdom of Hyrule, has been woven into the land itself since time immemorial. It is a flow of six elements of magic: Earth, Water, Fire, Light, Shadow, and Spirit. Each strand of magic relies on another, and if one strand is didturbed, then the weave becomes… difficult to use at best. It takes many years of practice to use and harness to its full potential, but there are a few shortcuts that can be used safely.

Great Fairies are spread throughout the land, and their fountains concentrate the weave into a liquid form, which becomes the most potent form of healing ever to exist. The Great Fairies were created by the Goddess Hylia for the purpose of spreading healing magic, and protecting the sacred weave of magic. The Great Fairies have great power, and through them, a person can increase their connection to the Weave, and can learn special martial techniques from their power. However, This comes at great cost from the Great Fairy that gives the gift, and they need to refill their magic reserves before they can heal or perform any more magic.

The Great Fairies are not the only shortcut to power. Darker means have been accomplished by shadow magi who have done terrible things to get to their goals. Extracting magic from another person and storing it in objects such as gems and weapons is a common process among those who cannot wait for power. Magic does not just leave a body painlessly however, and if taken by force, can often kill the person who is drawn upon.

If a person does not have enough magical energy, then they will become weak and sluggish if they drew the power themselves. They can draw in strands of magic from the weave around them, but some potions and medicines can speed the process of gathering magic. This is all that is known by most common folk, and mysteries are still being unraveled to this day.
