Drabble Prompt: "Pull over. Let me drive."

A/N: This prompt was for a 100 word drabble but clearly I'm incapable of writing a true drabble.

"Honey?"

"Hmm?" Stef raised her eyebrows but it did nothing to lift her drooping eyelids.

"I want you to take the next exit."

"Uh, okay, sure. Gotta pee?"

Lena shook her head. "I'm going to take over for a while so you can get some sleep."

"That's not necessary. I'm fine, love."

"Babe, you've been driving all night."

"Because I'm the one who insisted on driving through the night instead of stopping at a hotel. It's only fair that I drive."

"How galant," Lena said. "Nevertheless, you're exhausted."

"I'm fine, really."

"Don't lie to yourself. You—"

"I'm not—"

"Stef, I'm not arguing about this. Pull over. Let me drive."

When Stef chanced a sideways glance, she knew she wouldn't win this one. The stubborn purse of her girlfriend's lips and the way her eyebrow arched just so made that clear. A smile tugged Stef's mouth to one side and she sighed.

"Okay, fine. You win."

She flicked on her right turn signal and it ticked as they passed under a sign for the next exit.

"But I want it known that I had every intention of driving the whole way home and the only reason I let you drive is because you insisted. Even though I was fine."

"Oh, honey." Biting back a grin, Lena patted the back of Stef's hand that rested on the gearshift before lacing their fingers together. "As if anyone would believe anything else."
