A/N #1: I was really pleased getting the feedback for the last chapter I did so I'll go into my thank yous for that! TORONTOSUN (I was very happy to read you thought the last chapter was very good writing!) and
Mb (It was great seeing you thought the last chapter was nice. Not surprised at all that you were jealous of the pool room, lol, since I am too, it's what I would design my own room as, if I ever could, lol. And I was happy to read that you loved them relaxing and having fun with the family. You're definitely right, it was a nice break from that case and their frustration during it. I had to laugh at you saying that Castle and Beckett are going to have their hands full when Josie is older, lol, since she'll be added with her sisters. And you make a good point about their grandchildren joining in too, lol. You're welcome for sharing the first half too! Great you thought the second half was a nice filler chapter. And I wasn't surprised you enjoyed seeing that the kids were excited about the room and everything else with it… along with the adults, lol. With you smiling about them having these moments even with all the responsibilities they have I was very happy to read that. And I was glad you thought the journal entry Julia had was nice, along with the talk she had with Castle and Beckett about their trip to Hawaii. I was really pleased that you loved the quiet moments that the couples had! You're welcome for the second half of the chapter!).
Thanks for the reviews, I loved reading them all and I appreciate the time taken to write them out and send them my way!
A/N #2: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Pisces Fish written by George Harrison, from his album Brainwashed.
Easy Thing For Us To Miss
"Great, I'm glad you guys made it," Brad said while he watched the four walk across the parking lot to him.
"You said you had something?" Beckett asked.
"Yes," the chief said briefly before leading them into the building. He waited until they were inside his office, and he said, "We took another look at the employees in the troupe. A closer look and we found something there." He briefly grimaced and said, "Somethings."
"And what are they?" Castle asked, hanging his and his wife's coats.
"First men in the troupe have false names," Brad began. "Two of them." He went to a second murder board and said, "Hector Beutel and Jacob Van Herten."
"Jacob?" Skye asked softly.
"Yeah," Brad replied with a grimace. "I've sent Rice and Emerson to their hotel to arrest him. He's a registered sex offender and he hasn't kept up with his parole officer."
"What was his fake name?" Castle asked.
"Isidore Dahl," Brad said. "And Beutel was convicted of second-degree murder but released on parole."
"I'm assuming you're looking at him more?" Darnley asked.
"Definitely," Brad replied. "And I actually asked them to have everyone come to the station. I sent everyone not on patrol right now to go and bring them in."
"We're talking to everyone?" Castle said.
"We are, but not just the five of us," Brad replied. "Well…"
"Don't worry," Skye said hurriedly. "I figured I might be the problem when you said that. But I can watch at least," she finished with, wondering what his response would be as he spoke shortly after.
"That's fine," Brad replied. "Actually I'd like you to watch us talk to Beutel."
"I was hoping you'd say him," Skye replied.
"You weren't needed to get everyone?" Darnley asked the chief.
"No, we're going two or three to a car," Brad replied. "If you want to get some coffee, I'd recommend doing that now."
"Yeah," Castle said. "We were rushing today."
"You got up late?" Brad asked in surprise.
"Blame us not checking our alarms," Beckett said, shaking her head.
"And us being too tired from traveling to remember," Skye said, rolling her eyes briefly. "Luckily Julia woke up and got the rest of us," she said with a slight smile.
"She did," Castle said, nodding rapidly to Brad.
"Then you're really lucky," the chief commented. "I need to look at a few things, if you do make coffee, I'd like a cup."
"I'll get it," Castle told him. As they were walking together to the breakroom, he recalled earlier and how Julia had shaken him awake to his complete surprise.
"Dad… Dad."
Squeezing his eyes shut tighter at the sound, Castle realized he wasn't dreaming, and they opened widely before he turned over. "Julia, what's wrong?" he asked.
"It's late," Julia said in obvious concern.
Castle reached for his watch when Julia handed it to him and seeing the time, he realized she was right. "Go wake up the others," he told her hurriedly. "Kate," he told his wife when she was pushing herself up slightly. "We're late, we need to go."
"What time is it?" Beckett asked sleepily.
"Six past eight," Castle replied. "I forgot to check my alarm."
"Me too," Beckett said, pushing herself up further. She jumped out of bed and hurried to the closet, changing into her clothes with her husband before they were going to the bathroom.
When he finished washing up, Castle got his glasses on and grabbed his wife, kissing her gently before saying, "I've got Josie. Cereal?"
"Yeah," Beckett said since she was finishing her makeup. Once she was done, she went out into the hallway and saw Skye walking past Josie's room. "You too?" she asked the investigator with a smile.
"I know, I should have looked at my phone but…" Skye replied. "We have time, right?"
"For a quick breakfast; hopefully you guys won't mind," Beckett said before she was going down the stairs with her friend.
"No, we just needed some sleep so we're fine," Skye replied easily. "Did Brad contact you at all?"
"Not yet," Beckett answered, walking to the kitchen quickly. She got a box of cereal and then started to grab bowls for all of them before she said, "Do you mind?"
"No, we have the same kind of Cheerios at home," Skye replied easily since they were apple cinnamon flavored. "Iris loves it."
"Eliza too," Beckett said absently while she was getting cups. She was startled when Skye's hand appeared in her line of sight and looked at her saying, "You don't have to."
"Yes I do, you're going to exhaust yourself," Skye replied easily before helping her set the table and get drinks. Once it was ready the others were reaching them and she said, "I guess we need to save the chatter today," before Eliza was speaking first.
"We can't talk at all?" the little girl asked.
"We can, but we need to eat to make sure you're not late," Beckett told them.
"I already started," Julia said.
"You know you can text Mari," Castle told her.
"I know," Julia said once she'd eaten some cereal. "But I think we can make it."
Castle wanted to comment on her being so sure, but decided it wasn't worth the time that morning and nodded before he ate. After he finished his bowl, he helped Eliza and Julia with theirs and got them to the sink before Mary was stopping him.
"I'll take care of everything," the doctor said. "And don't say anything about that," Mary said. "I'm not doing anything today, so I think I have plenty of time for this."
"You can go into the pool room," Beckett said since she'd heard that.
Smiling, Mary shook her head and said, "Skye and I can spend time together."
Seeing the investigator nodding rapidly, Beckett couldn't help laughing briefly before she then said, "Okay, but you have to be ready to go. Just in case," not surprised Skye responded to that immediately.
"I'm not surprised, and I will be," she said. "But," Skye said quickly. "I realize we forgot to tell you something."
"What?" Julia asked.
"I got a call from Paul last night," Skye said.
"How?" Julia said in confusion.
"He's in LA right now," Skye replied. "So he was three hours behind. Anyway he said he's finally decided to make a music video for our song."
"I'm surprised he didn't in the first place," Beckett commented.
"You did agree to it didn't you?" Julia said rapidly.
"I did," Skye said. "And after talking to the rest of the band they did too."
"She spoke for me then," Mary said in amusement when she realized it had gotten quiet. "Which I don't mind."
"Where are you going to film?" Julia asked.
"Paul wanted to go to Ireland for it," Skye began. "But it's a bit expensive for us to go and do that. So I suggested Napa."
"Why not around Mill Valley?" Beckett said.
"She's right, if you get there at the right time it's green enough," Castle commented.
"She did right after," Mary said wryly.
"What about filming it on Memorial Day weekend?" Skye asked, smiling when the others turned to her.
"I think we expected that when you said Napa," Castle said in amusement after sharing a look with his wife.
"I think so. But you can, we won't mind having Paul there," Beckett said. "And Nancy of course since we did invite both of them."
"Oh good, I can text him," Skye replied. "So at least that's settled."
"Come on girls," Castle said. "We have to get ready. Do you have your lunches?"
"We're getting today, Daddy," Eliza said.
"Oh right, I forgot," Castle said. "I'll give you the money before we go," he told her before he watched her going to where Skye was helping her wife and she spoke to the two women a little shyly.
"Are we going to get to watch the filming?" Eliza asked.
"Yes," Skye said firmly.
"We would be a little rude to not have you come over if we're staying at your house," Mary added.
"What're you going to do?" Martha asked.
"We have no idea," Skye replied. "We have time to figure it out. But I'm sure one of us will think of something."
"Okay, come on girls," Castle told them. He took Eliza's hand, and they made their way down the hall to the entry, and he gave Julia and Eliza money for lunch. "Please don't buy dessert," he told them.
"I wasn't going to," Julia said.
"I won't," Eliza said. She couldn't help giggling at her father when he peered at her jokingly and then said, "I promise Daddy."
"Okay, I'll hold you to that," Castle said.
"Mom?" Julia said.
"Yes sweetie," Beckett replied.
"What if they want us to be in the video?" Julia asked.
Pausing in buttoning her coat, Beckett said, "I think we'll have to see what happens when we get to that point."
"But would you let us if they asked?" Julia said.
"We might," Castle said when his wife looked at him. He smiled at them both and said, "Especially if Paul asks for you guys specifically," turning to Eliza when she was speaking with a wide smile.
"He's gonna ask Jules," the little girl said.
Shaking her head, Julia said, "Maybe not."
"You never know," Eliza protested.
"We have to go you two," Beckett said. "Are you ready?"
"Yeah, thanks for letting us walk," Julia said with a smile.
"It's not a problem, we want you to get exercise too," Castle commented as he went to the front door. After watching Julia and Eliza say goodbye to the others, he told them, "We'll be right back."
"I'll be ready," Skye said.
After saying goodbye, Castle let his wife and their two middle daughters leave before he closed the door behind them and said, "Just in time."
"We're not late?" Julia asked. When her father shook his head, she breathed out in relief and said, "Mari will be there."
"She is," Beckett said with a smile after she opened the door in the wall. She wasn't surprised when Julia rushed out and was shortly after calling to her friend.
"It was so fun," Julia was saying to Mari as they were heading down the sidewalk to start making their way to the school. She then looked at her friend and asked, "Did you bring your bathing suit?"
"Yeah, and clothes for after," Mari replied. She smiled and then said, "Are you excited to swim again?"
"Very," Julia said, nodding her head rapidly. "And I'm glad you're coming over since we have a reason to stay longer."
Mari giggled before she suddenly realized something and said, "You're okay now," not surprised her friend was nodding before she spoke quickly.
"Don't worry, Matthias is staying with Skye now," Julia said. She glanced at her friend and seeing the look on her face asked, "What?"
"Are you sure about that though?" Mari said.
"I don't know, Skye said he's a little confused and still trying to work things out," Julia replied while they were stopping just before the crosswalk across from the street.
"Is that how she said it?" Mari asked. She smiled at her friend's nod and then told her, "Well, I just hope you'll be okay."
"I will," Julia said, speaking quickly as their families were coming up to them. After they had crossed the street, she looked at her parents and said, "Good luck."
"We'll let you know what happens," Beckett said. "But later."
Nodding, Julia hugged her parents and said goodbye to everyone before Mari was joining her. "Be careful!" she called to them after she and her friend had walked towards the quad.
"We will be," Beckett said, watching the two go. She then turned to Rebecca and asked, "You'll tell David?"
"I will," the lawyer replied. "But don't worry, Brad's okay."
"We still should let the mayor know," Castle said.
"He'll ask once I get home," Rebecca replied in amusement. "So don't worry, I'll tell him."
Nodding, Beckett said goodbye with her husband, and they watched the lawyer heading into the building before they followed and took Eliza to her classroom. "Have a good day sweetie," she said to the little girl.
"I will," the little girl said with a smile. Eliza hugged her mother and then her father saying, "I hope you can come to the dance class today."
"Is it okay if we're a little late?" Castle said.
"Yeah, I hope you can see," Eliza replied.
"We'll do our best," Beckett assured her before she hugged her tightly. "Love you sweetie."
"Love you," Eliza replied. "You too Daddy."
"I love you Eliza, we'll see you after school," Castle said in amusement. He watched her skip into her classroom and said to his wife, "She shouldn't be so happy."
"She is," Beckett said, laughter in her tone. "We better go."
"Are we waiting for Rebecca?" Castle asked as they made their way to the entry of the building.
"She's already on her way back," Beckett said. She laughed softly when her husband looked startled and said, "She walked by while you were talking to Eliza."
"Oh," Castle said. He then remembered and said, "I forgot, she has a case."
Nodding Beckett said, "She's hurrying back."
"Okay, then it's just us," Castle told her. He took her hand and said, "Though I'm appreciative of that."
"I was aware already love," Beckett said in amusement.
"Great, though I have to ask…" Castle started to say.
"I haven't gotten a text," Beckett said, not surprised he'd left a point for her to reply to that.
"Should we be worried?" Castle asked.
"No, we have a little time with Josie," Beckett reminded him.
"That's what I was thinking," Castle said with a nod. "But Skye and Mary? Tell them to make out?"
Giving him a look, Beckett shook her head and told him, "Whatever they want to do. And since we'll probably be called in soon, I think we won't be home for that long." She studied her husband's expression and said, "What?"
"It's a depressing thought," Castle commented.
"After how many years?" Beckett asked him with a smile.
"Just saying," Castle replied while they crossed the street to their block. He felt her squeezing his hand and glanced at her before she quickly spoke.
