A/N #1: It was great to get the feedback for the last chapter I got in the end, so I'll start on my thank yous for that! TORONTOSUN (Pleased to see you thought the last chapter was very good writing!) and

Mb (I wasn't surprised you could sympathize with them sleeping late. Luckily in your case it was a Saturday when that happened to you! I also wasn't surprised you were think it's good they have the Mill Valley house since they could film the music video in the area, lol, I know it can stay greener longer there. I figured it was time they had more suspects since things had been slow and everything. And of course I wanted drama, lol, but I was glad you mentioned that in your review. Great to see you thought it was a nice filler update. You're welcome for the first half! Really pleased you thought the second half was nicely done. No surprise that you mentioned that they have more suspects and as you said a murky motive with the cousins possibly killing him for money. And I'm not surprised you said that it's going to be intense with Matthias going to Julia and them wanting to stop them going to the school. Nice to see you thought it was a good update. And you're welcome for sharing the second half! I did know the first review was you, lol, so don't worry! And Happy Mother's Day to you!).

Thanks so much for the reviews, I loved reading them all and am grateful for the time taken to write them out and send them my way!

A/N #2: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Pisces Fish written by George Harrison, from his album Brainwashed.

Pumping Out With Fury

"Very good," the teacher said to her student. "We can move to the next sentence. Peter?"

"Yes?" the boy asked.

"Will you translate for me?" Madame Marceline asked.

"Sure," Peter replied.

Smiling as her friend was beginning to translate the sentence We tripped and skipped and slid all the way down the boulevard that was written on the board, Julia turned to look at her paper and French textbook before she felt the hairs prickling on the back of her neck. Looking behind her, thinking it was the door, she was startled when she saw it was still closed. She frowned and then turned her attention back to her book as Peter was speaking a little slower before she saw Matthias running through the whiteboard. "M-" was all she was able to say before he slammed against her, and she thought she had screamed though realized it was just in her mind.

'Matthias, stop, get out!' Julia cried out to him as she saw she was getting up, rage suffusing her body. 'NO! Please stop!'

I have to find Chloe, he told them it was Chloe, Matthias replied desperately.

"Julia, if you need- Julia!" the teacher started to say before her voice went up in response when the girl was running to the door. "What's wrong?" she said, going after her before Julia tore the door open and escaped into the hall.

"I'll go with her Madame," Peter said, jumping up as the other kids were talking. He headed to the door and pulled it back before it could close, soon spotting Julia while she headed down the stairs. "Julia! Wait!" he called once he was at the top. He headed down to the landing and was startled finding her pressed against the window there, shaking heavily with her face in her hands. "What is it? What's wrong?" he asked in concern. He started to reach for her wrists to move them when she was doing so, and he staggered back because her eyes suddenly seemed different. He looked at them once he stepped up to her and saw they were green again. "Julia," he said carefully.

'Let me answer him, you can't be here,' the girl was saying in her mind.

I have to, they'll try to arrest Chloe, she'll be so scared, Matthias replied.

'Then that means my parents are here, let me go to them and we'll talk to them,' Julia replied as Peter was helping her down the stairs while he spoke to her gently.

"I better take you to the nurse's office," the boy was saying. Reaching the doors out to the quad he opened them with one hand before he spotted someone leaving the office building. "Julia, it looks like your parents are here," he said, walking with her to the top of the stairs. "Julia!" he exclaimed when she suddenly seemed to wrench out of his hold and flew from the top of the steps.

"Stay, I'll take her," Skye said to Castle and Beckett, grabbing their arms before they could run to their daughter. Satisfied they'd stay, she ran to the girl and wrapped her arms around her tightly.

"What's wrong?" Beckett asked in concern, watching the two shake a little before they started to collapse to the ground. She ran to Julia while her husband went to Skye and she hugged her daughter tightly asking, "Are you okay?"

"Now I am," Julia replied, sounding exhausted. "Matthias came in and…"

"He jumped you," Skye said grimly while Castle helped her stand. She shook her head when he was looking at her in worry and then said, "He did the same to me, but I got him."

"What about Chloe?" Julia asked in concern.

"What happened to Chloe?" Peter said. When the adults looked at him, he said, "Sorry, I was helping Julia."

"He did," the girl said quickly. "I was in French and Matthias… he made me get up and run out."

"I'll handle this," Skye said, spotting the woman she assumed was the teacher coming out of the middle school building. She started to take a step but realized Castle was holding her arm still.

"Are you sure you should chance it?" the writer asked her.

"Very, let me go," Skye said firmly before he did so. "Thank you," she added.

"You're welcome," Castle said. "We're going to take her out of school for the rest of the day."

"Dad-" Julia started to say before he disappeared into the office building.

"Let him," Beckett told her before she pulled her into another hug, looking over at where Skye was talking with the French teacher.

"I suppose that would make sense," Marceline said slowly. "But you're certain she's okay?"

"She is," Skye replied. "She'll be back tomorrow if you'll let me know her assignment."

"No assignment," Marceline said, shaking her head. "We'll have a test on Friday so I'm urging them to study."

"Of course, I'll let her know," Skye said, nodding her head.

"Where's Brad?" Julia asked. "And Patrick? You did come to talk to Chloe, didn't you?"

"They're inside, Patrick's going to help," Beckett said.

"You should have gone," Julia told her mother.

Shaking her head Beckett said, "I had to check on you."

"How're you doing?" Skye asked the girl.

"Good," Julia said. "Well… better than I was." She looked at her mother and asked, "Are you sure you want me to go home?"

"Very," Beckett replied.

"What about Lizzy?" Julia asked.

"It's almost lunch," Beckett said after checking the time on her father's watch. "We can go into her cafeteria to tell her."

"Mom," Julia then said before her father was coming out of the office to speak to them.

"They said it's fine," Castle replied. "Peter," he said before the French teacher was calling the boy's name.

"Donne nous un moment," Skye said. When the teacher waved in response, she said, "She gave us a moment."

"Would you mind getting Julia's homework to Mari…" Castle started to say.

"Can she come too?" Julia asked hopefully.

"No, you'll have to tell her Peter, she was supposed to come to our house today," Beckett said, not surprised the boy was responding to that quickly.

"Sure, but it's almost time for lunch, you could tell her," Peter said to his partner.

"We'll see," Beckett said gently. "You better head back to your class," she then directed to Peter.

"Hopefully you'll be okay," the boy said before he said goodbye to them and left.

"Don't I have to tell Ms. Grey too?" Julia asked her parents.

"She was in the staff room," Castle said. "So I told her you and Eliza would be missing the class today."

"Thanks," Julia told her. She moved to him as he wrapped his arm around her and hugged him tightly before she saw the door to the office was opening.

"What happened?" Brad said in surprise.

"Are you okay?" Chloe said before anyone could reply to the chief's question.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Julia replied. "I'm going to head back home. I'll explain tomorrow," she said, adding the last quickly. "You're okay right?"

"Yeah," Chloe said, looking angry then. "And my mom will be okay so… I'm glad."

"Me too," Julia said, though she was startled at her talking about her mother. She then said, "I'll see you; I'm going to tell Mari about it." Watching the girl leaving them to head back to the high school building she said, "Her mom?"

"We'll explain later," Beckett said.

"Do you still need to work on the case?" Julia asked worriedly.

"No," Brad said. "Skye?"

Going over to the girl, the investigator said, "How're you feeling?"

Though she wanted to hear Julia's response, Beckett turned her attention to the chief as the two were walking away from them. "I'm assuming they've both been cleared."

"Of course," Brad said. "I hated having to talk to her, but the principal was there to keep her calm. And I did my best to speak calmly."

"She was fine," Darnley said.

"And Hutchinson called me, she cleared the mother's alibi and spoke with her over the phone. She said their family didn't want to speak to him anymore or have them around the kids because of what he was doing exactly. But there weren't any arguments and she said he tried to reason with them but when they told him they were only looking out for the kids he relented. So he hasn't seen them since he joined this troupe."

"Then does that bring us back to Beutel?" Castle asked.

"No, the men that were at Macar's wife's law firm," Brad replied. "But the firm is huge, and it was a lot of them."

"Are we finished for the day?" Beckett asked in surprise.

"I think so," Brad said. "Especially since you're taking Julia home."

Castle let his wife explain what they'd known had happened to their daughter before he said when she finished, "She seems okay, but I don't know… after they both almost fell, I think it's better we take them to the house and keep an eye on them."

"I agree, so head back to the house," Brad told them. "Come in tomorrow at nine, no matter if we have anything, I want you four to look at the case from the start," not surprised they were all nodding before Darnley was asking him about that.

"We couldn't do that at home?" the carpenter asked.

"Uh… I took pictures of the murder boards," Castle said when everyone looked at him. "Force of habit when Kate and I were taken off the dirty bomb case."

"But Julia-" Brad began to say.

"I can help them," the girl said.

"No," Castle and Beckett said at the same time.

"But-" Julia started to say with a frown.

"Sweetie, you're twelve years old," Beckett told her. "Brad wouldn't…" she started to say when he touched her arm.

"I don't want you to look at whatever pictures your dad has of the murder board," the chief said to the girl. "But if you could talk with the vic, that might help."

"Shouldn't I be doing that?" Skye asked.

"Where's Matthias?" Julia said quickly before anyone could answer the investigator's question.

"I'm not sure," Skye said. She sighed and said, "I'm a little off right now, you?" At the girl's nod she said, "Then we'll have to meditate a bit after lunch, get him back to us because he's gone."

"He will come back, right?" Julia asked worriedly.

"You're not angry about what he did?" Darnley asked.

"Oh no, he loved Chloe, a lot," Julia said. "He still loves her he said, so I'm not surprised he wanted to protect her."

"Okay, then do that and try to talk to him about the case," Brad told her. "But let your parents and Skye handle the murder board."

Nodding, Julia leaned against her father as he rubbed her shoulder gently while the adults were talking. Eventually Brad left them, and she said, "Can we go now?"

"Do you need to-" Castle started to say before the bells for the three schools rang. He turned his attention to his wife and said, "Are you going to see Eliza?"

"Yes," Beckett replied absently as she was turning towards the elementary school building. She then said, "But I'll be quick."

Castle then said, "What do you think about taking the baked potatoes they have home for lunch?"

"Really?" Julia asked before Skye and Darnley could respond.

As the writer was nodding to his daughter, the carpenter asked, "You're including me?"

"You should," Caste said.

"He's right, the case, and you know Trevor will be here soon," Skye pointed out to him before the carpenter was nodding and replying while he got his phone out of his pocket at the same time.

"I'll see what he'd like to do, but would they sell you the food that needs to go to the kids," Darnley said.

"We'll find out," Castle replied before he saw Beckett was coming out to them. "She didn't want to come out to see us?" he asked her when she was close.

"I didn't let her," Beckett replied simply. "She needed to get in line for lunch. And I asked about us being able to take potatoes home, they said no."

"Should I just stay?" Julia asked her parents.

"Do you feel like going through the rest of school?" Skye asked before her parents could answer her. When Julia shook her head she said, "Then we should pick something up. I know just the thing if I can get a hold of a car."

"We'll head home now," Beckett said before looking at Darnley.

"Do you know what your husband asked me?" the carpenter asked her.

"Julia!" a cry from the middle school building sounded suddenly.

"Mari," Julia said. "You should be getting your lunch."

"Peter got me, he told me what happened and he's getting my lunch for me," Mari said, hugging her tightly.

Julia sighed when she felt a little more settled and she said, "I'm okay now."

"I thought you said Matthias wasn't with you," Mari said while they let each other go.

"They had to talk to Chloe," Julia said. "I think Matthias thought they were going to treat her like a suspect, so he got mad and came to me to get to her."

"Did he jump you?" Mari asked in a quiet voice.

Nodding, Julia wasn't surprised when her friend held onto her arm and she said, "Peter helped me out a lot and everyone was here when we came out to the quad."

"I took Matthias," Skye then said before Mari turned to her. "So she's fine."

"Okay… I do have to go," she told her friend, turning back to Julia. "Are you coming to lunch?"

As Julia was explaining to Mari about her leaving, Skye went over to Castle and Beckett, murmuring to them about lunch before they turned back to the girls while Julia was asking her parents about after school.

"What about her coming over?" the girl said worriedly.

"I'm not sure what you want to do about dance class, we've told Ms. Grey already she's going to stay home today," Castle said.

"I… I think I better talk to my dad," Mari said. "I don't want to go either."

"Talk to your parents," Beckett urged her. "And see what they say, if they let you skip today, we'll pick you up with Eliza."

"I'll text you," Mari said seriously at the same time she was nodding. She hugged her friend tightly and said, "I'll see you as soon as I can."

"Have fun the rest of the day," Julia said. "I'll be okay, they'll make me rest."

"Okay, make sure Matthias doesn't do that again!" Mari said.

"He won't," Julia said, smiling at her friend's tone. She watched Mari go before she turned to her parents and realized Darnley was gone. "Where did he go?" she asked as her parents were ushering her to the office.

"He went to the kindergarten classes," Beckett answered, keeping an eye on her daughter to watch her walking. She was a little shaky at first and she kept her arm firmly around her before they got to the car. "Do you mind?" she asked Skye, relieved to see her shaking her head immediately.

"I thought you'd sit with her," the investigator replied. "And we'll have lunch soon," she told the girl with a slight smile.

Nodding, Julia then told her mother, "I only had science and Spanish left."

"You have homework from your other classes?" Beckett asked her, gently caressing her hair.

"Just history and math; history is reading," Julia replied. "Hopefully science won't have much for homework," she then said before her father was speaking as he pulled into the driveway at home.

"You didn't mention Spanish," Castle commented.

"We're having a test on Friday too," Julia replied. "So I just need to study."

"We'll find out once Mari gets here," Castle said, getting out of the car after he'd turned it off.

"Did you tell Gram or Grandpapa?" Julia asked her mother.

Beckett only had a chance to shake her head before the door to the house was flying open and Mary rushed straight to her wife.

"I felt like something was wrong," the doctor said, embracing her wife tightly. "What happened?"

"Let's go inside," Castle said as Skye looked at him. "We'll explain while we wait for the Darnleys to bring lunch."

"Are you okay honey?" Jim asked, having gone to his second oldest granddaughter.

"Yeah, I just need some rest," Julia said softly, smiling at her grandfather.

After they were inside and had gotten their outer layers off, Beckett led everyone to the family room, still holding onto Julia before they went to the couch. "I think it'll be better for Julia and Skye to explain this," she said, taking Josie and kissing her cheek gently. As Julia was doing that, she watched the baby reaching for her sister before she let her second oldest take her baby sister before Josie was on her lap. She wrapped her arm around her daughter's shoulders before Skye then took up the story.

"I knew I needed to call Matthias to me," the investigator said, glancing at her wife. "And the only way was to pull Julia to me," not surprised when the doctor was quickly replying to that.

"So he jumped you," Mary said grimly. "At your invitation."

"He did," Skye replied. "But as soon as he was there, he understood we weren't going to harm Chloe, and he left me."

"You didn't faint, did you?" Martha asked, recalling what had happened to the investigator at the rehearsal for the tribute concert.

"No, luckily Matthias wasn't that strong," Skye said. "And I wish you hadn't had to go through that." She sighed deeply and said, "It's my fault."

"Well… why did they think Chloe would hurt Matthias?" Julia said with a frown.

"Let's discuss that after lunch," Beckett said when the bell for the gate sounded. She was surprised when her father left with Castle and she said, "Can you tell him not to go to her?"

"No," Skye replied swiftly. "If he has a chance to pass on you can't really cut the connection. It might cause him to stay. But since Brad cleared Chloe and her mother…"

As the investigator was spreading her hands apart, Julia frowned and said, "No one explained about her mom."

"Yeah, do you sense anything with that?" Skye asked her.

Before Julia could respond, Castle was calling to them down the hall and they got up to greet the Darnleys who had all come over for lunch which was Swedish. They sat at the dining room table together before they began to eat, and she felt a lot stronger since some weakness had been lingering in her. When they had finished, she was surprised when her mother stopped her from getting up, taking her plates. She frowned before Skye, remaining in the room with her, explained why Beckett had done that.

"She just wants to make sure you don't pass out," the investigator said. "Which is why I'm here as well."

"But it wasn't that bad," Julia said. "At least for you."

"No, but I went to you expecting Matthias to come to me," Skye replied.

"You will find out who killed him right?" Julia asked softly.

"Yes," Skye said firmly. "Because I can't imagine letting him remain here."

"I wonder who he'll want to go to once you finish," Julia said a little absently.

"We'll see once we get to that point," Skye replied before she was looking to the doorway of the dining room as Beckett walked in.

"Josie's starting to fuss, I need to set her down for her nap," she told the two.

"I think we'll start now," Skye told Julia while she stood.

"Wait-" Beckett said with a frown.

"I need the two of us to do this on our own," Skye interrupted. "And I'm not surprised you'd want to be with her, but she hasn't done this before and I need the least amount of people around her."

"I'll be okay Mom," Julia said softly.

"Come here," Beckett said after studying her daughter for a moment. She pulled Julia to her tightly before kissing the side of her head telling her, "Listen to Skye and please relax."

"I will," Julia said before they walked to the hall where the investigator was waiting, her father coming down the hall before he was speaking rapidly.

"If you want to say goodnight to your sister better do it now," Castle said with a smile as he saw Julia. He was surprised when she held her arms out for the baby and looked at Beckett who soon nodded. After he handed her over, he said, "Are you taking a nap?"

"I'm taking her to the pool room so we can meditate for a little," Skye replied.

"Oh… I hope you'll be able to do that," Castle told Julia.

"I'll try my best," she replied with a smile since Josie had pressed her cheek against hers. She kissed her and then said, "Night Josa, I'll be here when you get up… maybe I'll have my homework done and we can go in your little pool."

"We'll see," Beckett said in amusement when Julia looked at her and Castle.

"See you soon," Julia said, letting her take Josie. She watched her parents go to the stairs and then turned to Skye asking, "Not even Mary's going?"

"No, I do this on my own though she does walk around me when I do that," Skye replied. She held out her hand and asked, "Let's go?" When Julia put her hand into her own, she took her to the kitchen, and they waved to the others briefly on their way to the pool room. When they were in elevator they were standing on opposite sides and she studied the girl asking, "Nervous?"

"Just afraid I won't be able to do it," Julia said, taking a moment to reply to that while she'd thought it over.

"Don't be, you might not the first time," Skye said. "I'm expecting us to need to try a few times before you get it for a few seconds."

Sighing Julia said, "But it will relax me."

"It will," Skye reassured her. She squeezed her hand as they stepped out of the elevator and she told her, "Take off your shoes and we'll sit on the daybeds," startled when Julia was soon speaking though they moved to get on a bed at the same time.
