Kill her? What did she take them for? Wanda flexed her hands. It would make things so much easier if she were allowed to simply use her powers! Yes, there was a line to be drawn for when to use this. But this was a sure fire way to figure out whether this child was true to her words.

Why should they trust her? There was no reason to. For all they knew Hydra had set them up for this! Red energy began to glow around her fingers without her even registering it. Hydra was not above sending a child to do their bidding.

The girl, subject three, however did notice. She paled and scooted farther to the wall, never looking away from Wanda. It would have seemed like bravado, if it weren't for the crack in the girl's voice as she said it, "Go ahead. See what there is to find, Miss Maximoff." She seemed to brace herself, though her arms shook, "I know they didn't call you one of Strucker's Prized Pupils for nothing."

At the mention of her past, Wanda stepped forward. Her hands began to glow even more and her eyes lit up. "You little…" What did this girl know about her? Or her past? She knew nothing! And here she was trying to poke at her with it.

"Wanda," Natasha's voice was calm with that back bone of steel behind it that left no room for argument. "Leave. Now."

The tendrils of red energy stretched out towards the child nevertheless. There was no other way to know if they could trust the girl. This was the only way!

"Wanda!" Natasha's voice became low, "Control yourself!" What did she know?

The tendrils came into contact with the girl's head and without thinking about it, she brought forth a fear.

She was in a bedroom, nicely decorated with a subtle blue light. There were the sounds of a child's laughter and a man as well. Wanda could tell that this was the girl's future family.

The girl walked through the door and the vision cut to a living room but no more sound came. No laughter. No happy blue light. It was dark and under lit by red. A little boy and a young man hung, dead from the ceiling.

Behind them were words written in blood: NO ESCAPE. The words become audible in a man's voice that had an obvious effect on the girl.

Wanda could feel the shrieking fear so close that nearly knocked her over as the vision ended. But there was something beneath it. A hatred deeper than anything she had known. Hatred for Hydra.

"Wanda!" Natasha grabbed her arm, taking her concentration away from the girl's mind. "Get out of here. Now!"

The door slid open, Clint and Steve coming in. Agent Hill was farther down the hall. Clint took her shoulder, "Come on, kid." Steve stayed behind as the door shut.

Three couldn't keep herself from shaking. Telepaths had no business being inside the mind of another. This one, though. Oh, if the opportunity ever came… she was going to pay dearly. Yes, she'd done exactly what she wanted her to do but that didn't mean she enjoyed it.

The vision flashed against her mind's eye again and she let herself dry heave in response. She was going to kill that woman. Someday. Somehow.

The other two stood there for a second, obviously wondering what her reaction was going to be. If only it was a good strategy just to kill them all. If only.

"I'd suggest leaving." Three sank her head in her hands, trying not to shake, "I… really don't want to talk anymore." More like she was going to lose it on the next person who spoke to her. Best not to say that, though.

Damn it, this gamble better have worked. Or else she just took on a powerful mindfucker for nothing. The fear that woman had brought to her being was more than anything she had ever felt in her life.

Even now, the Weasel's voice rang in her head. "You thought you could escape me, subject 3? There is no escape."

Three clapped her hands over her mouth to stifle a scream as she curled in on herself. The door slid open and shut. She was finally alone.

--

"What the hell was that, Wanda?" Natasha turned to her as soon as they hit the common room, she didn't shout or yell or sound overly angry. Yet there was an intensity to her voice and a fire in her eyes that had Wanda backing down.

Wanda pursed her lips, "It was the only way to know for sure." There was a bit of guilt that she had brought the girl through that but in the end it was worth it. Right?

"Did you see what you did to her?" Natasha gestured in the direction of the room the girl was locked in.

Nobody mentioned that the room wasn't just meant for prisoners but originally for themselves if there was a need to cool down. Wanda had been in there at least once and she knew the others probably had as well.

Before she could answer, Steve stepped in, "Which is exactly why we told you not to do that. We don't know what that girl has been through and you could have just made things worse for her. Not only that but she could have reacted much more violently than that."

"The kid will get over it." Agent Hill interjected, "The question is, Miss Maximoff, what did you find out?"

"We can trust that she hates Hydra as much as, if not more than, any one of us." Wanda answered, "She wants to escape them."

"What did you do to her to get that?" The quiet question came from Clint.

The young woman looked down, feeling truly guilty for hurting the girl like she had, "Her fear was manifested."

Both Natasha and Steve tensed, knowing full well the terrors the Scarlet Witch could bring to the mind. They were battle hardened veterans of war and it had been hard for them to recover after that. What had it done to this girl who had a past with Hydra?

"Holy -"

"No, no it can't be. Check again."

"We've checked it five times, Banner!"

The scientist and the genius mechanic bent over the blood work results and the research they had done. Chaos of the previous experiments were cluttered around them and the smell of stale coffee hung in the air.

Tony pinched the bridge of his nose, "How is it even possible? It's almost identical!"

"Almost." Bruce began pulling up other research and records.

"What -"

"Seeing if I can find the other one."

"Friday, make sure the coffee pot is going."

"Yes, Boss."

--

"You're not taking her." Steve crossed his arms, his captain stance facing Maria, "What are you even going to do with her?" There was something about this girl. Subject 3. Something he couldn't put his finger on but he sure wasn't tossing the girl into the vastness of Shield. At least not until he figured out what it was - or she proved herself to be loyal to Hydra.

Maria wasn't phased by the imposing figure, "We're going to get her the help she really needs."

"What?" Clint scoffed, not looking up from texting Laura, "She's not a criminal you can just lock up!"

"She will be examined and then decided if she will be able to be introduced into society." Hill glanced at the screen, "If she isn't a criminal. We don't know that yet."
