"Let's see how we are after a buffet," Beckett said. "And yes," she was quick to add as he opened his mouth to speak. "I'll eat."
"It's an underlying concern," Castle told her. He took her hand and pressed a kiss to the back telling her, "I noticed after you came back from your father's cabin."
Nodding, since she wasn't surprised he had noticed her weight loss from her medication after being shot, Beckett assured him saying, "I'm hungry now, and Eliza made me promise to take some desserts. A whole plate."
Castle couldn't help bursting out into laughter and did his best to calm down before he said, "I can see her saying that."
"Me too," Beckett told him with a smile. "And I did promise. Though I'd prefer it if we shared one."
Taking his wife's hand, Castle squeezed it and said, "I'll be happy to. And remember, the pictures are proof."
"Let's go," Beckett said laughingly before they shared a brief kiss. She let him open the door and she picked up their umbrella in passing before she said, "Do you want me to put your scarf in my bag?"
"Sure," Castle said, quickly making sure the door was closed. When he turned to her, he handed her his scarf and they started to make their way to the main part of the hotel. Once they'd reached the atrium, he watched his wife stop and take her camera out from her bag. "I was going to ask you," he said.
"Now you won't need to," Beckett replied. "Hold this for me?" She smiled when he nodded immediately before handing her bag to him. She started taking pictures of the plants, waterfalls and dome before she went to where her husband was looking at a pot of flowers. "Bored?" he asked him.
"Oh no," Castle said. "But you didn't ask me to take this," he told her, pulling her coat off her arm and smiling as she responded.
"I wanted to get my shots in," Beckett said. "But you don't have to hold it."
"Are you going to take it from me?" Castle asked. "I'm eager for a tug of war."
Rolling her eyes Beckett told him, "Don't worry; I wasn't planning on it."
"The store next?" Castle asked. When she nodded he let her tuck her hand through his arm, enjoying her hold on his upper arm before they were heading to the gift shop. Inside he asked, "Are we still in agreement?"
"I think that's something I need to ask you," Beckett told her husband teasingly.
"Yes," Castle said in mock annoyance, smiling shortly after when she laughed.
"Good, go look for Josie," Beckett directed to him. She watched him go and then turned her attention to the kids' shirts for Eliza. They had agreed to a shirt for each of their daughters and son in law, along with one other thing if they found it for their three youngest after more discussion. She picked out a shirt of the Magical Mystery Tour album cover and turned to Castle while he walked up to her and said, "She'll love this one."
"I'm hoping Josie will," Castle said, showing her the shirt with a picture of the Beatles during their second movie on it. "I got it a little bigger," he told her.
Nodding, Beckett said, "She can wear it during the summer," before he was taking the shirt she'd been holding. She smiled at him and said, "Julia?"
"That I think should be your pick," Castle said.
Beckett was going to protest before she paused and then said, "You'll have to get Alexis'."
"I'm going to assume we're grabbing one for Louis?" Castle asked.
"Unless you see something first," Beckett replied with a smile. They walked through the rest of the store; not parting that time though they had two separate choices to make; until they were stopping at the end, and she turned to her husband questioningly before he was talking swiftly.
"I think we're both going to say it," Castle told her.
"But let me," Beckett teased him. When he smiled, she then said, "Yes we'll get her the suitcase, but it's the last birthday gift we need."
"Perfect, but you didn't see anything for Eliza?" Castle asked. "Josie?"
"No, so just the shirts," Beckett said absently while they were going to the suitcases. "Their heads or the Anthology cover?" she asked him.
Studying them closely, Castle thought of their second oldest and said, "I think the heads; she'll love the colors."
"Good idea," Beckett said with a smile.
"Good idea?" Castle echoed in mock irritation. "You knew already what you were going to pick."
"Me?" Beckett asked.
"Okay, okay, us," Castle replied. He took the suitcase, and they made their way to the nearest register before he paid for what they'd found and had everything sent to their villa. While they were stepping out into the path to the theater that changed colors, he looked at his watch and said, "What do you think?"
Since she'd looked at her father's watch, Beckett said, "We should play for a little before we go." She was going to walk to the casino when he stopped her and she said, "Rick," simply before he talked hurriedly.
"No, I'm wondering about the weather right now," Castle said. "And I think we should head over to Caesars now; play there."
"Alright," Beckett said after she glanced in the direction of the nearest door outside though they were couldn't see anything.
"Are you sure?" Castle asked in surprise.
"I am," Beckett said. "I realized you were right, if it's pouring I'd like to know."
"And if it is?" Castle asked while they were walking to casino to leave.
"We'll still go, but I'm glad I thought to put on my Windsors," Beckett replied with a smile. She was holding his hand but soon moved to hold onto his upper arm, pressing close to him since she'd noticed a few women eyeing him. She wasn't surprised when he spoke swiftly then, or that he was doing so in Irish.
"I saw," Castle told her.
"I'm not surprised," Beckett said, speaking in the same language. She glanced up at him and said, "You are ruggedly handsome."
"Thank you for admitting that," Castle said. He couldn't help laughing briefly as she was rolling her eyes, though he couldn't help the thrill that passed through him at the smile that played across her lips after that. By then they had reached the path to the outside and he commented, "At least it's manageable." He was startled when his wife nudged him, and he looked at her questioningly before she was answering his unasked question.
"You wanted to lay your coat down for me," Beckett said.
"Not this one," Castle said, pretending to be offended. "What if I just carried you around?"
"No," Beckett said. "I don't want you getting soaked, you owe me a movie viewing session later."
"Good to know," Castle said, nodding before she nudged his side to his smile. When they had stepped outside, they went to the end of the covered path leading to the door inside the casino and he opened the umbrella once they had their coats back on. He wasn't surprised when she moved to take his arm as soon as he was standing in the rain and they walked pressed tight again to the next casino.
"Wait… love this is the mall," Beckett told him when he was steering her to the first doors they were reaching.
"It's coming down harder," Castle said. "And freezing, why is it freezing?"
Beckett, smiling, waited to answer as he was shaking the umbrella and they were walking together through the mall. "Remember what Skye and Mary told us."
"I do, it's the desert," Castle replied. "Well…" he stared to say. "At least it makes us cuddle close."
"What did I tell you?" Beckett asked him in Irish with her eyebrow slightly raised.
"I know, don't call it that outside of bed," Castle replied. "But still, I enjoy this."
"Me too," Beckett murmured, smiling up at him.
Though they were surrounded by people, Castle stopped his wife and turned to her to lower his head down to her, kissing her deeply. He didn't linger; though he'd thought about doing it; and pulled away saying, "I'm so glad to hear that."
Smiling, Beckett took his hand before they were walking again and not stopping until they'd reached the casino. "Thank you," she told him as they went past some of the brightly colored slot machines.
"For what?" Castle asked in confusion.
"For not making me stop at a store," Beckett explained in amusement.
"Oh, that was this afternoon," Castle told her. He then gave her a wry smile and said, "That's a risk you know; putting ideas into my head."
"I think I know how to control you," Beckett replied in amusement.
Breathing out roughly Castle said, "I'll hold you to that on Monday."
Since she knew they were playing with fire, Beckett merely smiled and gave a brief nod before he was pulling her to the side. "I thought you'd want to play poker," she said in surprise as they were sitting at two slot machines themed to Willy Wonka.
"Another time," Castle said simply. He wasn't surprised his wife was looking at him; not believing him obviously; and he sat next to her before saying, "How much?"
"I'll take care of it," Beckett said, getting her money she'd prepared for that purpose. While they were playing she could easily tell her husband was looking over at her but didn't turn to him until he was speaking to her in obvious amusement.
"I wanted to sit here since we could still talk," Castle commented.
Smiling, Beckett said, "I thought so, but I don't know if this will hold my attention that long."
"It should now," Castle said as he glanced at his wife's screen and saw she'd won fifteen dollars.
"Mind if we head to the poker machines?" Beckett asked him.
"Will you be able to find any?" Castle replied while they were cashing out.
"If you help me," Beckett said firmly before they were leaving the games. They didn't have to look for very long as they soon after spotted some poker machines and sat together to begin to play.
"Nice hand," Castle told his wife as he saw her get three of a kind.
"You too," Beckett said with a smile since he'd gotten a straight.
"It's times like these I wish we'd met sooner," Castle couldn't help commenting.
"What, so I'd be your good luck?" Beckett teased him. She couldn't help laughing briefly when he nodded and then said, "I'm glad I'm so important."
"You are," Castle said.
Glancing at her husband, Beckett saw he was serious, and she bit her lower lip before turning back to her game. But she was distracted, and she finally said, "We should go."
"Agreed," Castle said without looking at his watch. They cashed out and he asked her, "Should we save them for later?"
"I was hoping to play blackjack," Beckett told him. When he nodded they went to the stall to get their money and quickly ducked into the bathrooms so they could wash their hands. Her husband was waiting for her and she walked over to him murmuring, "You are too Rick."
Reaching up, Castle ran his hand over the back of her head before he said, "Should we have stayed in?" He wasn't surprised when she shook her head, and he wrapped his arm around her to pull her against him for an embrace. They didn't linger, moving to hold each other's hands while they made their way to the line for the buffet. There were already people ahead of them and he was about to comment about them going on a Friday night when his wife was saying that first.
"I think it's a little too late," Beckett told him while people were coming up behind them. "But it's why we came so early."
"Good point," Castle said. He then looked at her and said, "I wish they were with us… partially."
"I know what you mean," Beckett replied.
"Oh, speaking of the girls," Castle then said. "Boston-" he started to say before she was squeezing his arm to stop him.
"Wait until we're eating," Beckett said.
"Right," Castle said. "And once we take those pictures."
Beckett laughed briefly before she turned her attention to the line ahead of them since they were nearing the register. She let her husband take care of their dinner fee and walked with him while a worker led them inside.
"Is it possible to have a table where we can sit next to each other?" Castle asked.
"Okay," the woman said before leading them towards the back.
Castle was a little surprised finding them almost by themselves and near what he remembered was the Chinese food. "Thank you," he said to the woman once they were sitting. He ordered water, as his wife did, before they were setting their things down and he said, "You didn't bring out your camera."
"You just noticed?" Beckett asked. "I was going to grab it but remembered your offer. And that reminds me, we'll have to try and walk another night so can get pictures of the Strip."
"That works out for you tonight; since you wanted to watch a movie," Castle replied.
"Let's get the first dish," Beckett told him with a smile, squeezing her hand. "And remember, you don't need to follow me."
"No, but I'd like to," Castle told her seriously. He held her gaze and then said, "Let's go," not surprised when she immediately took his hand. They went to the nearest plates, and he reluctantly let go of her hand before she was smiling and speaking to him teasingly.
"I almost thought you were going to hold my hand while we do this," Beckett commented.
"I could have," Castle told her teasingly. He smiled when she was shaking her head and said, "No, I'm a big boy; I can get my own food."
"And hover over me while I get my food," Beckett said, teasing him while she got some bao.
"I am not," Castle said since he was at another entree. He smiled when she playfully nudged him out of the way of the shu mai before they were going to the next cuisine available. He was surprised when his wife was getting several items and he was almost going to comment on it while they walked to their table but held back.
"Is this enough?" Beckett asked her husband.
"Yeah, they know how we eat," Castle replied. "Picture?"
"Go ahead," Beckett said in amusement. She watched while he was getting two pictures and asked him, "Are you going to send them now?"
"They didn't say," Castle said. "But there will be more than one plate, so I guess we'll just wait?"
"Why are you leaving it up to me?" Beckett asked with a laugh. "It's not my phone; or my pictures." When he tried to hand it to her, she told him, "Oh no, you're fine."
"Sure?" Castle asked. When she nodded, he kissed the back of her hand before they began to eat, and he watched her when she turned to him.
"They didn't mention you making sure I ate," Beckett told him.
"No, but I'm just making sure you're enjoying it," Castle replied.
"It's good," Beckett said. She squeezed his thigh gently and told him, "It doesn't have to be super fancy remember."
"Crab legs?" Castle asked. He wasn't surprised when she laughed and was tempted to kiss her before he turned his attention back to his food. When they were done he asked, "Are you ready?"
"I am," Beckett said with a smile. She laughed under her breath briefly as his eyes widened and said, "I had my eyes on those waffle fries," before he was responding to her.
"So did I, want to split them?" Castle asked her. He smiled at her nod before they were heading back to get plates and more food. When they were sitting he took pictures before telling her, "Are you going to get more?"
"I don't think so," Beckett replied as she looked at her plate. "You?"
"I'll pass," Castle said. "So that means dessert right?"
Laughing softly," Beckett said, "I'm not surprised you said that. And we'll see."
"Oh I forgot, fruit?" Castle asked.
Smiling a little Beckett said, "That was my mom," since she had had their daughters eat fruit the last time they'd been there.
"She was a smart woman," Castle said. "Fruit is very important for kids." He saw she was staring at him and asked, "What?"
"No comment about how we aren't kids?" Beckett said, amusement evident in her tone.
"No," Castle said easily.
Smiling, Beckett turned her attention to the rest of her food though she wasn't surprised when her husband was bringing up what he had while they'd been in line.
"I almost forgot, now we can talk about Boston," Castle said. "What're we going to do?"
"We'll have to talk to Isaac and Genevieve," Beckett replied. "But I was thinking of taking them to Boston myself."
"I'm not surprised," Castle said since he knew why his wife was looking at him the way she was. "And I agree, also Isaac would too since I know he'd want to stay with her. And I can get you a suite at the Omni Parker."
"You stayed there?" Beckett asked.
"I have, all the times I've been to the city," Castle replied. "It'll be nice. I'd recommend the restaurant there."
"I might go," Beckett said. "Again, if I'm taking them myself."
"You will," Castle replied. He took her hand since by then they'd finished their plates and was about to tell her he'd miss them while she and Julia were gone when she was speaking first.
"I know Rick," Beckett said, squeezing him lightly. "And I'll miss you; luckily it's only for one night."
Castle resisted the urge to kiss her and instead distracted himself by saying, "And it's a big competition."
"National competitors," Beckett said, nodding. "I'll have to help keep them calm."
"I hope you can," Castle told her. He looked at their plates and then said, "Mind if I grab the fruit?"
"No cheese," Beckett said, unable to help laughing softly as he gave a mock groan. "You wanted dessert," she then reminded him.
"I do, alright I'll just get fruit," Castle replied, giving a feigned grumble. He smiled when she laughed and squeezed her hand briefly before he left her and got up. As he grabbed another plate he glanced back at her and saw she was on her phone. He smiled to himself and turned his attention to the fruit, picking quickly so he could make his way back to her.
"Thank you," Beckett said while he slid the plate in front of her. She moved it in between them and they began to eat before she said, "I wonder if I should show them around at all; if I'm taking them."
"I think you will be," Castle said. "It makes sense to be honest…"
"I want you to stay with Josie," Beckett said.
"I'd like that too," Castle told her. "And Eliza."
"Of course," Beckett said with a smile. She then said, "But I was thinking about Faneuil Market."
"It's a good place to stop," Castle replied. "If you don't have much time. And we have to take the girls there for a longer visit," he said.
"I'm sure we will," Beckett said. "Okay, then if we have time I'll take them there. But they might need to practice… we have to talk to Grey too."
Nodding, Castle watched her finishing her piece of honeydew and looked at her expectantly. He wasn't surprised when she rolled her eyes and he said, "Sorry, I'm eager."
"I guessed," Beckett said. "And let's wait a little before we run to the desserts." She wrapped her arm around his, looking at the buffet and the people walking around it before her attention was taken by his phone's text alert sounding.
"It's Eliza," Castle said with a frown as he saw the beginning of the message. He picked it up quickly and opened it before he started to laugh. "Here," he told his wife while he handed her the phone.
Reading the message, Beckett smiled as Eliza had said Are you gonna get desserts yet? She then looked at her husband and said, "I guess that decided it," not surprised when he was speaking rapidly.
"We don't have to," Castle said.
"And what are you going to tell her?" Beckett asked easily.
"Not yet," Castle replied.
Laughing and shaking her head at the same time, Beckett said when she stopped, "Come on, I think that was long enough waiting."
"Who are you," Castle said in mock exaggeration though he was standing up with her.
"And who are you?" Beckett shot back. When he reached for her, she went around the table and they walked together until they needed to go single file between tables. She let him grab a plate at the section that was just for desserts and said, "I don't know how much I want really."
"Whatever looks good," Castle said absently since he was looking at some macarons. He felt a squeeze to his arm and looked at his wife seeing she was smiling at him. "Sorry, what did you say?" he asked a little embarrassed he hadn't noted that.
"I don't know how much I want," Beckett replied.
"What if we walk around, then start taking?" Castle asked her.
"Are you going to take pictures?" Beckett said in response, amusement tinging her tone. When he nodded rapidly she covered her mouth slightly while she was laughing but stopped herself before she said, "Okay, but we'll split some things right?"
"The macarons?" Castle said. When she shook her head he said, "You saw the donuts didn't you?"
"Of course I did," Beckett replied easily. She squeezed his hand and told him, "Let's go around." As they were doing so she took in what there was before missing their daughters again and glancing at her husband she wasn't surprised when he nodded to her.
"It's hard not to," Castle said.
"They'd hate to hear us," Beckett commented when they stopped where they'd started.
"Especially in front of all this bounty," Castle said, exaggerating his tone to his wife's smile. "Do you know what you want? Direct me and I'll pick everything up for you."
"How did you get drunk on water?" Beckett said jokingly. When he pursed his lips a rush of desire to kiss him slammed into her body, but she shook that off the best she could and instead nodded to the macarons. "Grab two of those," she said before they made their way around again until they made a complete circle a second time. Looking at the plate she said with a smile, "They'll be really happy."
"I know," Castle said, laughter in his voice. "I was thinking about sending them a picture of this now at least."
Looking at her watch while they were sitting down, Beckett told him, "You better make it fast, it's almost Eliza's bedtime."
"Got it," Castle replied while he grabbed his phone. He hurriedly took a shot of their desserts, making sure they were all visible before he sent it to Julia's phone. "Hopefully she saw-" he started to say as he set his phone on the table. His text alert had sounded, and he shared a surprised look with his wife as he said, "Julia."
"I don't think it's a text," Beckett replied, smiling at the shock still on his face.
"You're right," Castle replied when he showed her the emoji the girls had sent. A text popped up a second later before he said with a smile, "I knew it." Their daughters had sent the message Looks yummy, make sure you both eat everything! "I think that exclamation point was Eliza," he told his wife.
Nodding at first, since she'd started on the small cup of panna cotta she'd gotten, Beckett was eventually able to say, "Of course, answer back."
Hurriedly texting back We will, miss you, Castle showed the message to his wife before she nodded, and he sent it. He waited with her for a little to see if there was a response and when it was Miss you too! Eat! they laughed together before he started on his key lime tart, and they began to tease each other about their shared desserts.
Finishing with a macaron Beckett couldn't help commenting, "Now I remember why I don't like to eat at buffets that much."
"Stuffed?" Castle asked her. When she leaned her head on his shoulder in response he said, "Me too. We're walking around, right?"
"I'd like to," Beckett said. She realized what he'd said and told him, "Not shopping though."
"We can look around," Castle told her.
"Alright," Beckett said with a sigh. "But we're not going with the intention of buying anything this time."
"Sure," Castle replied. He couldn't help laughing when she looked at him in surprise before she was keeping him from answering as she spoke.
"Why don't I believe you exactly?" Beckett said.
"Because you know me too well," Castle replied. "Ready?" he asked while she was sitting back up straight. When she nodded, he smiled and they got up, grabbing their things before leaving the buffet and seeing the line that had formed while they'd been eating. "Lucky," he commented.
"I know," Beckett said since the queue was filled. When they'd reached the casino, she squeezed her husband's hand she was holding and asked, "Did you want to gamble again?"
"Save it for tomorrow," Castle said.
Seeing he was about to speak again Beckett quickly told him, "I did want to walk."
"And now you read my mind," Castle said, smiling when she rolled her eyes. He kissed the back of her hand quickly and they continued through until they'd reached the shops. "Remember the aquarium?" he asked her.
"I was going to suggest we make our way there," Beckett replied, smiling herself since she'd just been thinking of that.
"Do you remember where it was?" Castle asked.
"Not really," Beckett said. "But we're not in a hurry, are we?"
Smiling at her, Castle shook his head and said, "Not at all, but I am hoping for some cuddling during the movie."
Feeling her cheeks heating up slightly, though she was feeling the same about it, Beckett merely nodded before she squeezed his hand tightly. When he responded in turn, she couldn't help her heart beating rapidly in anticipation for once they were alone again in their villa. She barely noticed the stores they were passing, only becoming aware when her husband was slowing down. "What is it?" she asked him. Looking at where they'd stopped she saw it was Versace and she shook her head saying, "Not here Rick; I told you if you ever take me to Milan I'll get something there."
"You're sure?" Castle asked.
"Very," Beckett told him firmly before they were walking again. "What did I tell you about shopping here?"
"I didn't notice it coming in," Castle said in a rush. He was smiling as his wife shook her head in obvious amusement before he said, "But we can look," not surprised when she was responding to that immediately.
"You already are," Beckett told him. She smiled when he nodded rapidly and she said, "Let's keep going."
Though he had wanted to take her inside, Castle had to follow her while they were walking through the mall before he realized they were going the way they'd come inside. "Love," he said.
"I noticed," Beckett replied. She glanced back and told him, "I think we went the wrong way at the fountain."
"Most likely," Castle said in agreement before they turned around. "At least we're getting that walk you wanted."
"I thought the same," Beckett said. "Though I wonder if we should have gone to the doors to check on the weather."
"I'm sure it's fine," Castle said. He wasn't surprised when she was watching him out of the corner of her eye and said, "Okay, so I have no clue but still…"
Shaking her head as she smiled, Beckett suddenly grew serious and asked, "How's your knee?"
"Okay," Castle said. When he saw how worried she was he was swift to try and assure her before he said, "It's a little sore."
"Was it supposed to keep raining?" Beckett then enquired while she had studied him to make sure he was telling her the truth.
"A little more tonight," Castle said since he'd checked on the weather leading up to their trip. "And probably Sunday night into Monday. I'm not sure about Tuesday yet. It is supposed to be cold the whole time though," he added, not surprised when she was responding to that wryly.
"I got it Rick, you said you want to cuddle," Beckett said. "Though I told you not outside of bed remember."
"Then you don't want to?" Castle asked half seriously.
Since they'd reached the aquarium, Beckett was smiling at her husband before she walked ahead of him to start taking pictures. She wasn't surprised when he was stepping up close behind her but didn't comment on it because she was enjoying it. When they'd walked around the entire thing she said, "Okay, I'm ready to go."
"You're sure?" Castle said in surprise. He was even more so when his wife stepped up to him and began murmuring to him in Irish.
"Luaigh tú rud éigin faoi mo shealbhú," Beckett told him.
With her saying 'you mentioned something about holding me,' as the word he knew she wanted to use didn't translate, Castle said, "You didn't seem too eager for it."
"Then you stopped being able to read me," Beckett said in amusement since she knew he was kidding.
"Oh, good point," Castle said exaggeratedly. "Then let's go, and I need to find out if we'll ever be able to say cuddle in Irish," he added as they walked away, laughing together at his tone.
When they reached the door to the outside Beckett said, "So much for your guess," since they could see it was pouring.
"We have a very nice shower," Castle commented while they finished putting on their coats.
"Several of them, but we're not taking it together," Beckett said. "Don't pout," she told him firmly though she was smiling shortly after. "Let's hurry."
"Of course," Castle said, stepping outside with her. There was a little cover just past the doors and he opened the umbrella there before wrapping his arm around her tightly. They rushed down the sidewalk and he was relieved they didn't have far to go to the covered path into the Mirage. "I didn't get too wet," he said, looking at his wife before she was replying reassuringly to him.
"Neither did I," Beckett said before they were taking each other's hands again and walking through the casino to the villa. Inside she smiled and said, "Their things are here."
"Put them away?" Castle asked.
"After we change," Beckett said. She went to their room after letting her husband take her coat and grabbed her pajamas before she ducked into her bathroom.
Though he'd wanted to ask his wife to let them change together, Castle was aware she was trying to keep them from becoming too tempted. He shook himself of his thoughts of helping her remove her clothing and end up not putting the pajamas on, turning to his bathroom where he changed quickly. Throwing on his robe while he stepped out into the bedroom, he saw his wife was looking at her phone before he asked, "Are we getting the stuff?"
"Yes, but just to put it away," Beckett replied. "And once we're finished will you make some tea?"
"Of course," Castle said with a nod, following her to the entry where their things were. They put them away in his closet and he said as he looked at the suitcase, "We're just taking that back with us?"
With a quick nod, Beckett led him to the room off the living room before she told him, "I'll keep you company."
"Thank you," Castle said since she was sitting at the bar.
"I'm sorry we didn't change together," Beckett told her husband while watching him getting the brewer ready. "But I thought it was a risk." She was surprised when he smiled and said, "It's amusing?"
"I thought of that when you went to change," Castle explained. He leaned against the bar while he had the first mug brewing and told her, "You're right though."
Beckett nodded and watched him getting some honey ready before she said, "Why are we doing this?"
"To make it incredible," Castle said.
"It already is," Beckett told him seriously.
"It is," Castle said before he studied her. "You want to anticipate Monday," he stated finally, not surprised when she was smiling a little before responding.
"I can see the appeal in that," Beckett said. "But let's not have so long a break next time." She soon saw her husband pulling a brief face and she said, "You're thinking of doing that already?"
"Just before Hawaii," Castle told her in a rush.
Smiling, Beckett said. "Why don't we wait and see how things are before we decide."
"Sure," Castle said quickly, giving her the first mug. He got his tea started and then asked, "What're we watching?"
"What we can find," Beckett replied. "I'm not ordering something."
"So it's either a movie or a show," Castle commented in amusement.
"Basically," Beckett said. She waited to drink her tea, watching her husband preparing his before she led him to the couch in front of the TV. Picking up the remote she started to go through the channels, pausing to see what was on before she said, "You've Got Mail," looking at Castle.
"Go ahead," he replied swiftly since he was aware his wife enjoyed the movie.
"Are you sure?" Beckett asked with a smile though she was leaning over to set down the remote. "No violence or sex."
"Maybe tomorrow," Castle said, reaching for her while she leaned back against him. He kissed her temple and then said, "Finally," smiling when his wife laughed out loud.
"Why am I not surprised you said that?" Beckett asked him. She wasn't surprised when he just held her tighter and she leaned into him when the opening credits were finished. They watched the first ten minutes before her husband was suddenly moving away from her and she was about to ask what was wrong when he spoke first.
"I still feel cold, want a blanket?" Castle asked.
"Sure," Beckett said, hurrying to pause the movie. She got up and followed him, though she waited in the doorway to the TV room while he went into the entry.
"I noticed these before," Castle said once he was back with his wife, showing her the one he'd found.
"Next to the TV in our room?" Beckett asked. When he paused in unfolding it, she was quick to reach out to him and touch his hands telling him, "I'm fine watching it here."
Studying her for a moment to be sure, Castle then nodded and said, "Okay, how're we sitting?"
Beckett motioned for him to do so first before she was following, putting her legs to the side while he wrapped the blanket around her with the other side around him. She cuddled as close to him as she could and said with a smile, "I forgot the remote."
Pretending to grumble, Castle moved to lean over and get it from the coffee table before sitting back. Instead of pressing play, he lowered his head to his wife's and took her lips, kissing her tenderly before they were slowly parting. "We can do that at least."
"We can," Beckett replied, pressing her forehead against the side of his head. "Play the movie though Rick, if we start I won't want to stop."
"Neither will I," Castle said, watching his wife while he was pressing the play button. He smiled as she wouldn't turn to the TV until then and said, "I can see why you didn't want to go to the one in our room."
Beckett couldn't help laughing softly and told him, "Shh, the movie's on love." She smiled when she hugged her tightly and they settled in together a little more snuggly while watching the movie. After a half hour she realized something and moved away a little from her husband to sit up straighter when he was talking rapidly to her surprise.
"I completely forgot my tea," Castle said.
"So did I," Beckett said. "We can't reheat it can we?"
"No," Castle said, picking up his mug. "Well… sorry about that," he said.
"Why are you apologizing?" Beckett asked in amusement, glancing at the TV since the movie was still playing. "It's not your fault."
"Cuddling?" Castle said.
"Oh right," Beckett said to him before she was moving to sit as she had been before. Once she was she helped him with the blanket, and they were watching the movie again.
Since they didn't have anything to distract them, Castle wasn't surprised that they were watching the rest of the movie. After a while he realized his wife was heavier than usual, and he looked down at her and smiled before he moved as carefully as he could to get the remote from the arm of the couch. Turning off the TV he pushed the blanket off Beckett's shoulder before he moved to stand up. He had to carefully since he didn't want to wake her up, but he was soon able to pick her up in his arms and was just stepping out into the living room when she was moving in his hold.
"Rick?" Beckett asked sleepily.
"You fell asleep," Castle told her soothingly. "I'll take you to the room."
Trying to shake her sleepiness, Beckett said, "No, you can put me down."
"I-" Castle started to say before he had to since she was moving. He set her down and told her, "I could have carried you."
"I know, but we didn't turn down the bed," Beckett replied, embracing him tightly. "You wouldn't have been able to do that on your own," she added as they let go of each other and walked to their bedroom, not surprised when he was responding to her immediately.
"I could have," Castle told her.
"And where would you have put me?" Beckett said wryly.
"I would have figured it out then," Castle said swiftly.
Shaking her head, Beckett said, "No you wouldn't have."
"No, but I like to think I could have," Castle told her. He wasn't surprised when she laughed and they turned their attention to the bed, moving the pillows out of the way to get the comforter and pull it down. He watched her taking off her robe and slip under the covers before she looked at him pointedly. "The windows," he said.
Beckett was smiling while she watched her husband grabbing the large curtains over the doors that led into the back and she said, "Are you okay?"
"I'd ask you the same thing," Castle replied. He made sure the second layer of curtains was closed before he said, "Do you want to go to sleep right now?"
"I think we have a little more time," Beckett said while he stood next to her side. "So don't take those off yet."
"I won't," Castle replied, taking off his robe and tossing it over her robe on her nightstand. He turned to the bed and climbed over his wife before he said, "Do you mind?"
"Which you ask after you climb on me," Beckett said teasingly. She reached for him as soon as he was settled and wrapped her arms around him before they were kissing. She wasn't surprised when it was gentle and she pulled away saying, "I love you, Rick."
"I love you too," Castle said, gently running his fingers through her hair before he wrapped his arms around her. He didn't kiss her, instead held her and saying, "I really had fun today."
"Me too," Beckett said before she pulled back enough to brush her lips against her husband's.
"Think we can watch another movie tomorrow?" Castle asked.
Smiling, since she wasn't surprised he was thinking of their night and wanting more, Beckett told him, "I'd like that. You can pick the movie this time."
Shaking his head, Castle told her, "You could, I don't really care." When his wife was looking at him with narrowed eyes, he was quick to tell her, "I'm serious. And not trying to get anything for Monday, I'd be… a little stupid to try."
"Because I'd see right through you," Beckett commented. She couldn't help smiling when her husband was nodding seriously and she brushed her lips to his before telling him, "Let's wait and see what's on tomorrow. Though there is something I should admit to you."
"Oh?" Castle asked in some surprise.
"I always preferred You've Got Mail to Sleepless in Seattle," Beckett replied. "Just a little," she added as he was pretending to look stunned. "Since they interact with each other," she then told him before her husband was responding to her admission.
"Shocking," Castle said, not surprised when she rolled her eyes though she was wrapping her arms around his neck shortly after. "But I do see your point," he told her, holding her shortly after. "And it's amusing."
"You're seeing us aren't you?" Beckett asked.
"Slightly," Castle replied. When his wife was looking at him pointedly he quickly said, "Okay, a lot. But we're lucky we didn't have a business between us."
"I know," Beckett said with a smile. "I would have found you even more annoying… how does she not hate him for making her close her store?"
"He makes her," Castle said.
"The courtship?" Beckett asked. When her husband nodded rapidly she smiled and said, "Boy is that familiar."
"Do you wish I had gone after you a little more now?" Castle asked.
"No," Beckett said firmly. She wasn't surprised he hugged her, and she told him, "I probably would have pushed you away more."
"If I tempted you with roses?" Castle asked.
Beckett couldn't help laughing and she told him once she'd calmed down, "You know you did."
"I remember," Castle replied with a nod. He kissed her temple, recalling the bouquet he'd taken to her after she'd been shot.
"Was the coral color intentional?" Beckett asked.
"I had no idea the meaning of that one," Castle replied. When she looked up at him, he said, "Seriously. But I wanted to give you roses, you deserved them."
Smiling a little, Beckett turned and kissed his shoulder through his shirt before she told him, "Kiss me." She wasn't surprised when he was hurrying to do so, gently tilting her head up to him with his finger under her chin. She closed her eyes before his lips met hers, feeling a thrill go through him at the feel of his tongue gently sliding across her lower lip. Parting them swiftly for him, she was overjoyed when they were rubbing together gently until he pulled away from her and pressed his forehead to hers while he spoke.
"I wish I could do this for a lot longer," Castle said.
"We could," Beckett said. She was startled when her husband shook his head and pulled away before she told him, "We can't do it."
"Not really," Castle said. "Once we start, I'd be impossible to stop," he told her. "Even for you."
Smiling Beckett quickly brushed her lips against his and said, "You're right." She wasn't surprised when he let her go completely and she did the same to him before wrapping her arms around her legs once she'd bent her knees.
"Your feet aren't cold?" Castle asked her.
"I'm fine," Beckett replied. "Do you want to talk about tomorrow?"
"Sure," Castle said. "I'm assuming you want to decide which museum we'll go to first. Coin toss?"
Beckett laughed softly and then said, "No. But we should go by how long it takes to get there."
Turning to his nightstand, Castle grabbed his phone and quickly searched first the Mob Museum telling his wife, "Eleven minutes." He then looked at the Nevada State Museum and frowned before saying, "We might have to do that coin toss after all."
"The same time?" Beckett asked. When he nodded, she said, "Do a random number generator."
"Then what is what?" Castle said.
Rolling her eyes and shaking her head, Beckett said, "If it's one it's the Mob Museum, two the State Museum."
Nodding, Castle quickly put in the numbers before he set it and told his wife, "I should make you guess," before she was responding swiftly.
"You won't, which Rick?" Beckett asked.
"It was two," Castle said.
"Alright," Beckett replied with a nod. She then smiled and said, "I don't mind that, though I was thinking of going to Fremont for lunch."
"I can look for a place," Castle replied, beginning to turn to his phone before her hand appeared in his view. "No?" he asked, looking up at her.
"Tomorrow while we have breakfast," Beckett said, watching him putting his phone onto his nightstand. While he got off the bed and took off his glasses she told him, "I want to grab something down at the café by the shops by the way."
"Sure," Castle said, turning off the lights in the room while the two above them on the headboard were still on.
"No argument?" Beckett asked while she moved out of the way of him as he laid down next to her.
"It sounds good," Castle replied easily before they kissed. He wanted to keep it gentle but couldn't stop himself and it became intense. Though they lingered, he was relieved he felt enough in control when they parted and he said, "Goodnight love."
"Goodnight Rick," Beckett replied before their lips brushed together. She turned off the light on her side while he did the same with his and waited for him to lay down. She settled against his side and pressed against him before they pulled the covers up over them both. She murmured she loved him before he responded and she closed her eyes, trying to sleep though she was looking forward to their plans the next day. Castle's arms were holding her tight, and she slept deeply in the warmth he provided while the storm soon left the city outside their room.
