Chapter 19: Sibling Rivalry!
"So tell me Midoriya." Nezu mused. Izuku was sitting in Nezu's private lounge in the Teacher's Dorm with Nejire and Alex. He felt like he had his brain cut open and analyzed by the chimera. He swore he answered about a thousand questions about many different quirks and his theories on how they worked. "What would you think Eraserhead's biggest threat maybe while out on patrol?"
Izuku took a sip of the tea to give himself a moment to think. It was a jasmine variety, Alex said it was no Gold Tips Imperial, whatever that was. It was nice, he just never understood the point of specialty teas. He broke and angered both Alex and Nezu when he said "tea is just tea." Then he had to endure an angry tirade and rather aggressive explanation on how 'tea is not just tea'.
Never again will Izuku Midoriya ever again utter those treacherous words in Nezu's presence ever again. He valued his life too much. Also permanent note, never anger Nezu.
"I'd say someone like Itsuka Kendo or Mashirao Ojiro." Izuku said after swallowing his sip. Nezu and Alex merely hummed.
"Would you care to explain your reasoning?" Nezu said,
"It's simple—" Adachi began but he was hushed by Nezu.
"It is because they developed their skills with different types of martial arts." Izuku explained, "I fail to see how Aizawa-Sensei could cancel Ojiro's quirk, being a heteromorphic type. How do you cancel out a tail?"
"Yeah! There must be no way he could cancel out mutant types too!" Nejire exclaimed, but she was cut off by Nezu.
"Not exactly Young Hadou." He interrupted cheerfully, "Take Mezo Shoji. He most certainly is a mutant type. However, Aizawa's quirk most certainly would be able to stop him from creating multiple appendages, but it would do nothing to stop the amount of brute strength he naturally has thanks to his quirk's."
"Oh." Hadou pouted, looking disappointed that she had missed an obvious issue in her answer.
"Young Midoriya hit it right on target however." Nezu smiled, "The fact that those two students are more than capable of defending themselves without their quirks. They are not what Aizawa would call "one trick ponies."
There was a chime from Nezu's phone, "I think it is time for all of you to head back to your dorms. It is getting rather late. You have a very special lesson tomorrow Midoriya. You'll be observing it as well Adachi. I would like a one page paper by next week's meeting about how to fight when you can no longer depend on your quirk. Also for you Young Midoriya, a five page paper on why 'tea is not just tea.'"
"WAIT?! We are getting homework for this?!" Alex and Izuku cried out, both feeling as though their souls had been cleaved in two.
"I thought this would just be fun!" Izuku moaned, tears falling down his face.
"I just wanted to talk about different kinds of tea!" Alex sobbed.
"Sorry." Nejire blushed, "I kinda forgot to mention that he likes to assign extra work after these club meetings."
"YOU FORGOT?!" Izuku yelled, "That's it! You aren't getting any of my cooking for a month!"
"You wouldn't dare! I'm an RA!"
"Yeah! Well I'm the chef Hadou-Senpai! Didn't anyone tell you not to mess with the chef!?"
"Respect your Senpais Kohai!"
"You were holding out on us!"
"Okay! I was holding out on you! Can you find room in your heart to forgive your senpai? It really hurt my feelings when I didn't get to try your graham cracker coated baked mac and cheese at dinner last night!"
"Well perhaps you should've had not kept secrets from us! Like how Aizawa-Sensei was going to prank us by waking us up by pulling the fire alarm!"
"As I recall YOU escaped that prank!" Nejire shot back, her face getting red as Izuku's, but her face was more puffy.
"By following my normal routine Hadou!"
"Well yeah! You're just weird!"
"WEIRD?! You wake up at the same time for the running club! Besides, you were in on the prank and let your charges suffer!" Izuku shouted back, his voice getting higher, and Nejire responded by raising her voice.
"Well duh! It wouldn't have been much of a prank if you all knew it was coming! Besides! It is kind of our job as RA's to prank you!"
"HA HAH!" Izuku cried pointing an accusatory finger at the bluenette, "So you do admit that you seek to make our lives more miserable!"
"That's not what I said and you know it!" Nejire cried out, her brows furrowed and steam coming out of her ears. Meanwhile Nezu and Alex were going back and forth between them like a tennis rally, all while sipping on tea. "It's our job to keep us on your toes!"
"Yeah well! That works two ways and you know it!"
"You can't prank your RA's! That's against the rules!"
"Since when?!"
"Since now!"
"Principal Nezu." Izuku called out and the chimera lifted his head from his teacup, "Is it against the rules to prank the RA's?"
Nezu took a very long sip of his tea and then had a long moment of silence, Nejire and Izuku keenly waiting on his response. "As long as you don't get caught, we can't punish you. And make it a quality prank, nothing from the 100 Yen store." He said that last part with his evil shit eating grin.
Nejire dramatically fell backwards and then sat back up with a loud moan, "That's not fair Principal Nezu!"
"Oh it is perfectly fair! Don't prank others if you don't expect to be pranked back." He said with his evil laugh at the end which unsettled the three humans in the room. "Nothing wrong with a mild discomfort don't you say?"
That was the cue for the three of them to leave the teacher's dorm and head on back to their dorms. As they left, Nezu thought to himself that this year was going to be very interesting. He did love drama. But that boy needed to learn that 'tea wasn't just tea'. Oh, he planned on personally educating him on that front.
"So Hadou-Senpai," Izuku asked as they were on the long walk down the drive back to their dorms, having just waved Adachi back into his dorm. The teachers dorms were at the complete opposite end of the row of houses, meaning it was quite the hike given UA's large campus, "Do you have any ideas what that special lesson Nezu hinted at was?"
Nejire simply chuckled and gave the boy a devilish smile, "Of course I do Kohai! But I'm not going to tell you! And don't ask your fellows in 1-A either! They were told not to blab about it because they had that lesson today!"
"Why not?!" Izuku replied with a pout, crossing his arms for good measure.
"You won't let a girl eat your cooking!"
"I do let girls eat my cooking!"
"I noticed you had a plural word in there. So it isn't just your crush then?"
"I don't have a crush on Reiko!" Izuku shouted back, looking around carefully to see if anyone was listening. He thought he saw someone in the trees, but it was a trick of the eye. Then he just hoped no one in the first year boy's support dorm was on their balcony.
"Reiko? Hmmm… On a first name basis with a girl already? Oh and I didn't mention Reiko specifically. You did that all by yourself." Nejire added on a smirk that just raised Izuku's temperature even more. "I don't see what the big deal is with boys not acknowledging they have crushes. I mean it is perfectly natural."
"Think Izuku think! You must distract her!" Izuku thought to himself as he struggled to will the blood to leave his face, "Okay then. If it is only natural, then who do you have a crush on?"
To Izuku's credit, this actually worked because Nejire then started to blush madly.
"None of your stinking business Midoriya!" she shot back, but Izuku immediately countered back.
"Then why are you up in my business?! You can't have your cake and eat it too?!"
"That's because you won't bake me a cake!"
"Cake is Sato's territory! I'm more of a good old main course focusing type of chef! Besides no dodging the question! I don't believe in double standards without a valid reason or explanation. So what's yours?"
"I'm not telling! You'd simply laugh at me!"
"Would not."
"Would too!" Nejire shot back as she then sprinted up upon the girls dorms. "Anyways, goodnight Midoriya!"
"You never answered my question you coward!" Izuku yelled after her as she ran up the stairs, and she turned back and gave Izuku a rude hand gesture for the mean comment.
Slowly Izuku trudged his way back to his dorm, desperately thinking of a way to make his crush on Reiko less obvious to everyone. Nejire might have been the first to notice it, but he couldn't think of anyone else who could have figured it out.
Sighing, he walked up to in the dorm and by passed Shoji, Manga, Bondo, and Hiro who were all playing a game of Smash Bros with Sero, Kirishima, Haimawari, and Yoarashi standing around watching while Tokoyami and Kurorio were doing the dishes. He trudged up the single flight of stairs and went to his room plopping spreadeagle onto his bed, thinking of ways to make his crush less obvious.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!
"Doors Open!" Izuku called out as he watched his foster brother poke his head in the gap.
"Do you mind if I come in Izuku?"
"Of course. You are always welcome in my room Hiro. Is there something you wanted to talk about?" Izuku asked as he sat up, crossing his feet over one another.
"It just seemed that you were a bit upset when you walked back in? Did something happen with Yanagi?"
Izuku's face flushed. "Shit! Shit! Shit!" "Nothing happened with Reiko Hiro."
"Reiko?" Hiro asked, raising his eyebrows, "First name basis?"
"She's a friend!" Izuku shot back, his voice peaking, causing Hiro's eyebrows to rise further, his face turning even redder if that was possible.
"So are you dating?"
"No!"
"That high pitch voice isn't convincing me."
Izuku then grabbed a pillow and threw it at Hiro who simply quickly stepped to the side, the pillow impacting against the now closed door.
"What was that for?!"
Izuku paused for about fifteen seconds as he did not want to say, "For picking on me because I have a crush on Reiko Yanagi."
"I am not picking on you Izuku! I'm trying to help you out!"
"Help me out with what?" Izuku shot back, a minimal amount of venom in his voice that made Hiro take a step back.
"By helping you admit you have a crush on Reiko Yanagi!" Hiro shouted back, a bit louder than he intended which made them both pause.
Izuku took a deep breath before responding, desperately trying to de-redden his face. "Okay. What on this quirk forsaken planet has gotten into your head that I have a crush on Reiko Yanagi?"
Hiro simply held out his hand and started counting fingers while clearly thinking something in his head while going through ideas before speaking.
"One: you use her first name. Two: you were the only one allowed to use her massage chair, and you were gone for quite a while. Three: You sometimes have a misty-eyed look when you look at her in class or across the cafeteria. Four: Your face turns red at the mention of Yanagi being your crush. Five: Your voice peaks when you are accused of her being your crush."
Hiro switched to his other hand now, given he had run out of fingers on his first.
"Six: You offered some of Monoma's cooking to her so fast, even I know full well you didn't have that energy bar because it was still poking out of your pocket. Seven: She was the only girl you offered some of your Thanksgiving feast to last night, which I remind you made a lot of the other girls upset. Eight: I saw you drawing her in your quirk notebook, and you were making a lot of effort on her breasts. Nine: Last night in the onsen when the guys asking why you offered Yanagi some of your cooking and none of the other girls, your member grew a bit stiff. Finally Ten: You simply don't want to talk about her being your crush, and that alone is a major clue."
Izuku simply stared at him. He had not expected to given the full: Ten Reasons why Izuku has a crush on Reiko Yanagi. His mouth opened, and then closed. Then he repeated this action again, and again, and again. Realizing he was trapped in a corner with no outs, he took a deep breath.
"I have a crush on Reiko Yanagi." He said it in a moaned in a high pitched whisper, with his eyes closed and knees in his face. Hiro simply smiled and chuckled.
"Looks like Iida owes Felix, Skyler, Alex, Kaito, and myself ¥1,000 (Roughly $10.00) each. He's out ¥5,000. (Roughly $50.00)"
Izuku's mouth simply gaped open as he was lost for words for a couple seconds. "Was it that obvious?!"
"You all took a bet on whether or not I have a crush on Reiko?!"
"Yep." Hiro replied, popping the p.
"And you didn't tell me?"
"Why would we? The bet was to get you to admit you have a crush."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"Fair point… But when did you find time to make this bet behind my back!? The seven of us hang out all the time. You never had the time to sneak around and talk behind my back and arrange a betting pool!"
"Yes we did."
"No you couldn't have!"
"There these things called group chats Izuku."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"Oh." Izuku said, looking back down at his All Might themed bedding again. "Why did you form a group chat behind my back?!"
"Skyler was the first to notice you going all misty eyes in the cafeteria and formed a separate chat after the first day of school." Hiro explained while shrugging his shoulders, "Iida seemed set that you didn't have a crush for some reason. It was painfully obvious to the rest of us. Now if you don't mind, I have money to go collect."
"Not so fast!" Izuku yelled back before Hiro who paused and turned around as he got to the door, "I confessed my crush to you! Who do you have a crush on?"
Izuku felt a vindictive pleasure as he saw his foster brother's face turn from pale white, to pink, and then to a deeper shade of red. So his foster brother had a crush on someone. Well, all is fair game. Now he just had to figure out who it is.
"I don't have a crush Izuku!" Hiro shouted at the top of his lungs, and then bolted out of the room with tears coming from his eyes.
Izuku sat there in stunned silence for a good thirty minutes. Full of guilt and a multitude of other negative emotions filling his chest. His mind was totally blank from the sheer shock
Hiro seemed to be avoiding Izuku for the first half of the next day after the altercation they had last night. He wasn't down in the main hall for breakfast when all the boys were eating. Izuku kept looking for him, and tried knocking on his bedroom door to see if he slept past his alarm.
He asked Mirio if he could pop his head in, but the blond refused to do so. He cited it would be an invasion of privacy. He didn't see him in the onsen either when everyone was getting washed up and ready for the day either. Izuku was beginning to panic as all the boys began to file out of the dorm.
To exasperate his concerns more, he was approached by Bondo, Manga, and Shoji who all were starting to get close to Hiro as well. They too had wondered where the blue-haired boy had gone off to this morning. Resigned to the fact that he didn't understand what was going on, he trudged along with the rest of the boys up to the school.
When he got to the classroom, he was surprised to see that Hiro was already there before the rest of them. He didn't look like he had slept well at all though. He was dressed appropriately and in proper uniform, his hair was done and his glasses were on straight. However, something just showed that he had not slept well the night previous.
Izuku did his best not to think about his foster brother as he had to try and not let Midnight's euphemisms get to him that much while she was teaching art history, followed by Ectoplasm's lectures on quadratic equations. Like he would even use them in real life. What were even the real life hero applications for the quadratic formula?
When lunch time came around, Hiro didn't sit with the other six (Iida, Izuku, Alex, Kaito, Skyler, and Felix) like he normally did but sat with a foursome with Bondo, Shoji, and Manga instead.
Hiro's behavior didn't go amiss with the others at the lunch table either. Felix thought it was healthy for him to have more than one group of friends, and as a result he didn't question the decision to dine with others. The rest of the group agreed on that and went back to lunch as normal.
Skyler informed him that he added the finished designs for Izuku's hero costume yesterday after class. He was able to make the modifications that he needed which made Izuku very happy. He told Izuku that if he found any parts of the costume uncomfortable to come to him after class that day down to the support studio to have it altered.
As he finished talking to Skyler, he looked over towards Hiro (whose back was to him), he thought about how quickly Hiro had shouted at him last night. He just wanted to know if Hiro had a crush too. Clearly he did based on his violent reaction last night. He had no idea what even was responsible for him to act so… violently.
Izuku found himself zoning out while the others at his table were talking. Wrapped up in theories or thoughts on why Hiro would've reacted to him. Eventually he was brought back to reality when Iida thumped him on the back.
"Hello! Earth to Izuku!" Tenya called to him, "Is everything okay? You've been staring off into space for the past seven minutes. Your still have half your food left and it is nearly the end of lunch."
Izuku looked back down to his bowl of katsudon and noticed that half of his bowl was still there. He hurriedly went to finish, ignoring the questioning looks of the others at his table, he managed to finish his food as soon as the bell rang and went back to their core classes. He still had his brother on his mind as they sat back down in class, that was until his mom's boyfriend came through the door like a dad doing everything they can to embarrass their child.
"I AM HERE! COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A WEIRDO!"
Izuku literally jumped as he saw All Might in his silver age costume strut into the classroom. His mind was jumbled as he was barely getting a hold of what All Might was saying about battle training. Next thing he knew All Might had pressed a button on a remote and all the costumes in their cases came out of the wall.
He was on autopilot as he grabbed his case and followed along with the rest of the class to the bus outside that took them to Training Ground Beta. He opened his case and saw that Skyler had managed to make the upgrades to the costume he requested.
Inside was a green costume with a green hood. Skyler had given him a hard time about the grill guard and the bunny ears. Something about being too much of an All Might fan boy. However he consented, claiming that once he reviews the footage of him using the suit in action that he'll be able to prove those things were ridiculous. However, he did consent to having the two holes in the back for his fire wings to come out, despite not being able to make them last for more than a few seconds.
He looked over to his foster brother who had just finished putting on his costume. His costume was a navy blue with a water tank on his back. He had gauntlets like Vlad King's on his wrists that connected to the fact that every bit of his suit was lined with bags of water to draw upon. He also had a helmet on his head with a clear blue visor over his eyes that was obviously a heads up display. His brother shot him an unfriendly look as Izuku caught a glimpse of him putting on his costume. Izuku felt a pang in his chest as he quickly turned away.
Soon, they were all heading on out to the main training area where he got a glimpse of the girls in their hero costumes. His eyes immediately found Reiko. She was wearing a traditional Japanese gown with a face mask. She had a furred collar on her outfit, but it was the fact that much of her legs were being shown off that distracted him. He found his gaze drawn to them and felt his face redden as he stared at her legs. Worried that others, or Reiko herself noticed, he pulled his face away to look at All Might. He went on to explain that they would be doing heroes vs. villains and they would be paired off into random teams.
Team A: Uraraka and Iida
Team B: Awase and Honenuki
Team C: Kurorio and Tetsutetsu
Team D: Kamakiri and Kendo
Team E: Awase and Bondo
Team F: Honenuki and Haimawari
Team G: Midoriya and Yanagi
Team H: Tokage and Ojiro
Team I: Shishida and Yoarashi
Team J: Fukidashi and Fuji
"TEAM G WILL BE THE HEROES AND TEAM J WILL BE THE VILLAINS!" All Might shouted and then caught himself with a bit of panic. Everyone also noticed that this would be a battle of brother vs brother.
The rest of the class moved to an observation room in the basement of the building across the street. Meanwhile on the main campus the support and business course students were observing the exercise in the same computer labs the hero course students used when viewing them take the hero course exam.
Izuku was having a difficult time concentrating on making up a plan. He was going up against his brother who was clearly still angry at him for asking if he had a crush. He really hoped that he wouldn't carry the anger over into the actual exercise. He glanced over at him as he and Manga were talking with All Might before heading into the building.
All Might gave him and Reiko a speech about the communicators. He explained that there were no microphones in the building, only cameras, and that they were not allowed to remove the ear pieces in case he needed to tell them to stop the exercise.
"So Izuku," Reiko asked, "What do you think we should do? You are an excellent strategist."
Izuku tried to ignore the jump his heart made when his crush complimented him and cursed his face when he felt it flush.
"Well if we were the villains, I would have created a barrier of very hot flames around the entire building to prevent them from getting in." Izuku rambled on, "However, since we need to be more offensive, that isn't an option. We both have similar telekinetic abilities. I can't use mine to make me fly and I haven't mastered my wings yet."
"I can't fly with my telekinetic abilities either." Reiko sighed, "But my one of my support coordinators suggested a folding and collapsible surfboard, but it isn't ready yet."
"So we can't just fly up to the top of the building so we have to go in the main entrance." Izuku sighed, "Manga and my brother are a bad combination. Manga could use his quirk to increase the humidity in the entire building, thus increasing the water supply he could draw from."
"That does sound like a big problem for us to deal with." Reiko groaned, "It sounds like your foster brother is going to be the main aggressor for us and Fukidashi will be support. What is up with Hiro anyways? He seems to be extra angry with you today."
Izuku closed his mouth and hummed. He didn't want to tell Reiko that he admitted to Hiro that he indeed had a crush on her. Perhaps he could spin it from a certain point of view.
"We were talking last night after I got back from the dorms. We were talking about personal matters and I admitted something to him that I wished to keep secret. After admitting something I didn't want to, I asked him if he had something similar that he wished to keep secret. He then got extremely angry and started shouting at me from the top of his lungs. He's been in a mood since." Izuku explained.
"Well that doesn't seem fair." Reiko said, "If he got you to admit something you wished to be secret, he has no right to get all angry and moody that you asked him something along similar lines."
Izuku nodded and sighed, "And I'm afraid he's going to use this exercise as an excuse to take it out on me."
"Just don't be too rough on him." Reiko said as she turned to glance at the building, "There is probably more to his anger than we know, given his past."
"Your right Reiko."
Meanwhile on the Fifth Floor of the Practice Building
"Seriously! What is wrong with you Hiro?!" Manga shouted as the two were discussing their plans, "You are never usually this angry! This is your brother we are talking about going up against. I don't know what he did to make you so angry with him!"
"Just leave it Manga!" Hiro shouted, "You wouldn't understand!"
"Try me!" Manga shouted back, and when Hiro replied with silence, he let his shoulders slump, "You aren't acting like yourself Hiro. I'm afraid we are going to lose this exercise if you don't get your temper under control."
"BEGIN!" called over the loud speakers and their earpieces and the two boys jumped.
"All I'm asking is that you calm down Hiro." Manga sighed, "You aren't being you right now. I get role play of the villain, but you are simply taking it too far."
"As I said," Hiro grumbled, "Let me deal with Izuku. Make it more humid please so I can use my quirk better at least?"
"Only because you were polite about it." Manga sighed as he used his quirk and characters came out of his mouth and the building became as humid as a Florida swamp in summer after a hurricane had passed through.
Hiro then left the room, but not before condensing the humidity into a thick sheet of ice that covered the door. He then headed on down the stairs in an attempt to ambush Izuku.
He knew his reasons for being angry at him were irrational. He just couldn't help himself getting furious with him. He regretted his actions as soon as he got back to his room, but he couldn't just shake this stupid anger from his system.
Before he could continue to control his emotions even further, he came across Izuku and Reiko far quicker than he could have anticipated. They came barreling at him from the opposite end of the hallway.
He looked up and saw a fire sprinkler and used some of the water stored of his suit to from a spear in his new gauntlets. He launched the spear into the sprinkler, rupturing the line it was connecting to causing a flow of water to come barreling out of the pipe.
He then commanded the water to reach near boiling point and commanded it to form a rouge wave of sorts towards the heroes. Izuku responded by shooting a torrent of emerald flames from his palms towards the incoming wave causing it to turn into steam.
By the time Izuku and Reiko managed to get through the steam and to the other end of the hallway, Hiro was gone.
"He's probably retreated to the upper floors where the bomb is most likely at." Reiko surmised.
"He's taken the Bakugo approach." Izuku groaned, taking us on full on, leaving Manga to defend the bomb.
"Manga is more of support than offensive in this kind of environment." Reiko thought out loud, "He needs more open space to let his onomatopoeia fly through the air. Cramped spaces aren't his thing."
"However, making it humid like a swamp or rainforest in here shows he and Hiro are not a duo to be messed with." Izuku said, finishing Reiko's assumption of the situation.
"Let's head up to the final floor." Reiko said, "I'm not feeling comfortable trying flight by using our quirks on our shoes. It most definitely didn't feel safe."
"That's why I suggested we use our quirks on each other to lighten ourselves." Izuku said with a grin.
"Oh, and here was I thinking that you just wanted an excuse to use your quirk on me." Reiko giggled while blushing, and this had Izuku turn crimson and have a lapse in concentration which was just what Hiro needed as he had set up an ambush.
To his horror however, it didn't go as planned. He launched an ice spear as a projectile, expecting it to break apart and shatter upon impact with the human body…
That is not what happened… Instead what happened was a spear of hardened, quirk-enhanced ice came flying straight at Izuku and Reiko. Izuku shoved Reiko out of the way of the incoming spear. Instead of shattering upon impact, it penetrated Izuku's costume and punched clean through his shoulder, lodging and trapping itself.
All the color in Hiro's face went out. Before he could open his mouth to say anything, even apologize, he felt his clothes drag him towards the wall violently. The last thing he saw was Reiko with pure fury in her eyes as she used her quirk on his clothes to throw him violently against the concrete wall. He felt his head slam into the wall, felt his skull crack and his vision go blurry, and then he saw nothing.
Izuku was moaning in pain. The spear luckily missed any important organs. He figured he could keep going. However, when he tried to get up, Reiko forced him to sit down and not continue with the exercise.
"YOU HAVE A SPEAR LODGED IN YOUR SHOULDER IZUKU!" She hollered at him when he tried to protest and get to his feet.
"I'll probably have to deal with worse when I go pro." Izuku tried to argue, but then he saw the fury in Reiko's eyes. "Yes ma'am…" he gulped, and slid back down against the wall.
"I would say the first thing we need to do is ice the wound, but we got that covered." Reiko joked, "Just stay here and wait for the Medical Bots to take you to Recovery Girl."
"But I can heal myself!" Izuku tried to protest, however he lost his courage again when Reiko stared down at him again.
"And have you ever removed and healed a spear wound before?"
Izuku muttered something, which caused Reiko to raise an eyebrow.
"Speak up! I can't hear you."
"Not yet…"
"Then stay put!" She said as she put the capture tape around Hiro and proceeded up to the final floor as Izuku fell unconscious.
"HIRO FUJI HAS BEEN CAPTURED AND IZUKU MIDORIYA HAS BEEN RENDERED MEDICALLY UNABLE TO COMPETE!"
She kept opening the doors along the top floor, and she eventually came across a block of ice.
"This must be the room with the bomb." She thought to herself. "How do I get in? Izuku would be perfect for this. With his fire he could melt the ice or with his strength he could smash through it. I have neither."
Meanwhile on the other side of the ice wall, Manga heard the announcement that Hiro and Izuku had been removed from the exercise.
"BAAAAAAAAMMM!"
Immediately a wall of words shoots out of Manga's mouth and smashed through the ice wall and some good area around. He rushed forward, expecting to capture Yanagi, but she was gone.
Instead she had heard him begin to shout through the ice and dove out of the way. She immediately activated her quirk and pulled the bomb towards her.
"HERO TEAM WINS!"
Izuku blinked himself awake. He had fallen unconscious in the hallway of the practice building. He felt like he was on something soft. He tried to lean himself upwards, but found himself strapped down to a bed.
"Ah good! You are awake." Recovery Girl said as she approached his bed. He looked over and saw Hiro strapped down to the bed opposite of him.
"How long have I been out, and why am I strapped to this bed?" Izuku asked as Recovery Girl began to run some tests on him.
"Well to your first question, you've been out for a few hours. To your second question, I know how feisty brothers, even foster brothers can get. I took it as a necessary precaution in case you wished to continue your disagreement." Recovery Girl explained after she finished shining a light in his eye. "I want you to try and use your green aura to heal the wound on your shoulder."
"Why didn't you heal me when I was knocked out?" Izuku asked.
"Because you can heal yourself you dummy!" Recovery Girl shouted as she wacked him with her cane. "Just use a trickle of energy, we don't want you passing out. I want you to use your green aura to see if you can get rid of a permanent scar on your shoulder, and you need practice with that one."
Moaning, he put his right arm over his left shoulder after Recovery Girl undid the bindings. Quickly thereafter, the sparkling green aura appeared, concentrated over his shoulder. This was the first time he used it on himself. He found it to be much easier to control the flow of energy.
After a few minutes, the soreness in his shoulder went away and he removed his hand, the green sparkles going away soon afterwards. His shoulder was as good as new, as if it never got pierced by an ice spear.
"I'm going to want you to stay here tonight still Midoriya." Recovery Girl said as she examined his handiwork. "I want to run some samples on the repaired tissue and muscles in your shoulder to see how well they are repaired."
"You're going to cut me up just after I healed myself!" Izuku yelled out in shock, feeling his blood run cold.
"Well we have to ascertain how the 'green aura' of yours works exactly in a more medical and scientific detail." Recovery Girl explained. "But before you do, I think you need to have a chat with your foster brother."
She glanced at the pair of them before leaving the room to give them so privacy. The two stared across at one another.
"I'm sorry Hiro/Izuku" They both said at the exact same time, before both awkwardly falling silent again.
"What are you sorry for Izuku?" Hiro asked with a tear coming out of one of his eyes. "It was me who was acting like an ass all day."
"It was me who upset you last night." Izuku interrupted before his brother could keep talking, "You weren't ready to talk about your crush."
"And I shouldn't have just shouted at you!" Hiro shouted back, and then quickly looked to the door in fear the Recovery Girl might come back in, cane in hand. "I was cold to you all day because of a question I should've expected after pressuring you."
Izuku paused and thought to himself before answering. "You're right, you shouldn't have lost your temper at me like that. It wasn't fair."
Hiro held his head down, not making eye contact.
"But I accept your apology."
That got Hiro to look up.
"Just make sure it doesn't take a spear through my shoulder to make you see your mistake in the future please?"
