"Is that all you got? Come one guys. Keep it coming." Hak says, facing everyone's dragon who are across from him looking rather tired.

"You know they can only shoot so many attacks." Hiccup interrupts, breaking up the training session and drags a cart with the dragon's troths over, the large creatures and one small spitwing digging into the fish.

"I think for a new training session it worked out pretty well." Astrid says, looking at Hak with a bit of amazement.

"You're only saying that cause you're sweet on him.

Who in the world does even want to block a dragon's breath attack?" Snotlout complains.

"Just because you can't do it doesn't mean it's a bad skill to have." Hiccup agrees with Astrid.

"Anyways is there a way dor them to increase the number of shits they can produce?" Hak asks curiously, putting his glaive and a large, round shield that Gobber made for him against a nearby wall in the dragon school.

"Well in theory there should be, but no one knows yet how." Fishlegs answers.

"Well, the dragons didn't have a bundle of knowlegde like you before." Hak replies, often being impressed by the gentle teen's in-depth knowledge and analytical skill.

"Ah, yes... yes I think with some time We could manage to develop a way for the dragons' abilities to increase." Fishlegs says embarrassed.

"So Hiccup what's on the agenda today? Because we were hoping to go tip some yaks... uh I mean help the fishermen." Tuffnut says sheepishly.

"We were supposed to get a lesson from Gobber, I don't know why he hasn't shown up yet though." Hiccup says, scratching his head.

"Isn't he in some meeting? I heard my dad say something about a council meeting." Snotlout comments, leaning against Hookfang, who playfully slaps him away with his tail, making Snotlout faceplant in front of the large dragon.

"Right. I totally forgot. I'm curious what they could be discussing though." Hiccup says, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

"Who cares. Let's get out of here sis." Tuffnut says, jumping on his dragon with Ruffnut and the two take off, everyone else also leaving until only Hak and Astrid remain in the former arena.

"Do you have something you want to do?" Hak asks his girlfriend, who is pacing nervously while glancing at him.

"Uhh, I... I was wondering if..." She stammers, gulping when Hak walks over to her.

"If what?" He asks with a kind smile.

"You can come over and make up with my parents." She says hopefully.

"And you think that'll work?" Hak asks with a raised eyebrow.

"If you can show them that you're serious about me then I think it might." Astrid answers.

"Hah, fine. But how do I convince them of that? I mean I already almost got killed for you on numerous occasions." Hak says, caressing her cheek and brushes over the short braid behind her.

"I don't know. But please try. For me?" She requests, rubbing her hand on his chest in circles while looking at him pleadingly.

"Alright." Hak sighs and grabs her by the waist, Astrid letting out a surprised yelp while he carries her carefully into the inner part of the school and pushes her up against a wall.

"Let me try to build up my nerve alright?" He says jokingly and kisses her passionately while their dragons look at each other and lie down beside another, knowing that their masters make out session can last anywhere from a few moments to half an hour.

"Hak, slow down. Don't make it too obvious to my parents." She squeals happily, pushing his head back with a smile.

"Do you know what you are?" He asks her, leaning close so she's literally trapped between his body and the wall.

"You're a tease." He says, one hand sliding down and starts stroking her knee and thigh slowly.

"No I'm not." She says blushing.

"Really? What was with the look you gave me during my training then?" He asks with a cheeky grin.

"I was just impressed... and I thought you looked really cool when you were blocking those attacks." Astrid tells him.

"Yeah well, you looked really cute while staring at me." Hak comments, kissing her nose before releasing her from the wall and offers his hand, the two stepping outside hand in hand and only break their contact when they get on their respective dragon.

"Are you really that nervous?" She asks him when the two are climbing on their dragons.

"At least more than I thought I would be." He says honestly before starting to fly beside her and Stormfly on Rampage.

Around midday the two land their dragons at Astrid's family's house, Stormfly getting in her shed while Hak let's Rampage leave and go hunting for fish.

"Let's do this." Astrid says, holding her hand out for her boyfriend who accepts the smaller hand and enters the house with her, leaving his heavy glaive and shield next to the entrance besides where Astrid puts down her axe.

"Astrid you're back just in time for our meal." Astrid's mother says, stepping out from another room with her husband, only to freeze up at the surprise visitor.

"I assume he's joining us for our meal?" Her mother asks, seeing the teens connected hands.

"Yeah. Let me help with setting the table." Astrid says, hurrying over to her mother while her father sits down on the table in the room, openly glaring at Hak while his family goes into their kitchen area.

"Mr. Hofferson." Hak greets the man with a nod, sitting down across from him, not showing any reaction to the man's angry eyes.

"I don't like you changing my daughter." Astrid's father says after a long moment of silence between the two.

"It's not my intention to change her." Hak replies.

"Then give it up and stop bothering my little girl." The man all but growls, Astrid and her mother entering the room at that moment with the food and utensils.

"Dad! He's not bothering me. You and mom objecting our relationship is." Astrid says annoyed.

"Don't say that. We're only looking out for you." Astrid's mother says.

"So is Hak. I wouldn't even still be alive if it wasn't for him." Astrid says, defending her boyfriend.

"That only shows how incapable you've become." Her father scoffs.

"If that's the deciding factor should I prove your incapableness as well?" Hak says angrily, clenching his fists.

"Try it boy!" The Hofferson shouts, getting up riled up.

Hak looks towards Astrid and sees her almost in tears, unhappy with the whole situation.

"Hah. I apologize for my outburst. I should get going. The chief wanted to see me soon anyways." Hak excuses himself and leaves while collecting his weapons.

After he left Astrids father says "See daughter. You don't want such a spineless man."

"You don't get it." She says disappointed, gripping the crudely repaired sash Hak gave her as a symbol that he'll always come back to her.

"What don't I get? If he's scared of fighting his daughters father then how could he even be able to protect you?" Astrid's father says confidently.

"He's not scared of fighting you or anyone. He didn't want me to have to watch it." Astrid says, quietly eating her food without an ounce of enjoyment.

Meanwhile Hak enters Hiccups house and sees the Chieftain fighting with a bend fire poker.

"You wanted to speak with me Stoic." Hak says dutifully, holding out his hand and Stoic hands him the iron poker.

"Yes, it's about a festivity this week. I have talked with my fellow clansmen and advisors and we have agreed that it's time you join our clan." Stoic says while Hak bends the fire poker back in its original form.

"It'll be my honor." Hak says bowing his head.

"No need to be so formal. We Vikings pride ourselves in our comradery and you have proven yourself to us more than once." Stoic praises him.

"So you'd think." Hak mumbles disappointed.

"Hofferson giving you a hard time? Hiccup mentioned something." Stoic asks.

"I'm afraid so. I just don't know why he disapproves of me this strongly." Hak replies.

"The Hofferson are a prominent clan. They probably don't think it's appropriate to mix the main family's only daughter with someone without a clan to call his own." Stoic explains.

"I see. So, this is about tradition." Hak says.

"Most likely." Stoic answers.

"But hey, maybe his opinion will change if you'd prove yourself during the festivities." Stoic explains.

"How do you mean?" Hak asks curiously.

"Well, there is a competition for many different talents. Maybe you could impress the Hoffersons by beating them. I imagine you'd do well in the fighting competition. If you want I could have you be the first contestant." Stoic says.

"Why would it matter when I compete?" He asks curiously.

"It's one vs one fights with the winner fighting all of the challengers. I imagine you could beat at least a handful of our men." Stoic says.

"Then please. Let me be first. I will beat them all." Hak says with an iron will in his eyes.

"Hahaha. That's proper Viking spirit. I'll organize it that you're first in celebration of you joining our clan." Stoic says happily, patting Hak's back.

"Thank you Chief. I see now why you hold this position." Hak thanks him, with a grateful nod before leaving the house and heading home.

|Three days later|

"Welcome everyone to this year's festivities. Before we start with the competition however there is one more thing, I am most happy to do." Stoic announces, standing on a short podium in front of the gathered people of Berk.

"I wonder what he could want to do?" Bucket says along with a couple of others wondering the same thing.

"Hak, if you'd please step up." Stoic says, Gobber handing him an arm band with its end having two decorative dragons.

"Yeah! About time." A lot of the Vikings start cheering and patting the young man's back as he goes towards Stoic, only a few in the crowd simply watching with a frown or disinterest.

"People of Berk, with this. We have a new clansman among us, let's celebrate!" Stoic shouts, while putting the ring on Hak's upper arm and the Vikings break out in a loud cheer before everyone heads to the dragon school where the competitions will be held.

After a handful of minutes Everyone is gathered in the arena's stands anxiously waiting for their turn to prove themselves.

"In honor of this young man joining our ranks today I have granted his request of being the first to compete in the tournament of the strongest!" Stoic announces, the Vikings looking surprised at this because usually the last winner starts, which in the last years always was Gobber, Stoic or Spitelout.

"Alright. Let me welcome him with my axe then the lassi." Spitelout cheers, raising his axe while cheering while Hak simply jumps down into the arena with his full metal glaive.

"Then let's start this years tournament!" Stoic shouts excited, hitting a gong next to him while Spitelout jumps down into the arena.

"Are ya ready boy?" Spitelout asks confidentially.

"Yes." Hak simply says, his glaive held at his side in line with his arm, the blade pointing to the floor.

Spitelout screams loudly, this bring a method of intimidation for him while charging Hak.

When the man is within reach Hak raises his glaive with incredible speed, kicking it up with help of his foot and the glaive comes to a stop underneath Spitelout's chin, hitting him underneath it with its backside just a bit while the chains acting as a net over the arena jingle from the wind pressure Hak created.

The arena is then filled with silence before Stoic shouts, "And with that Hak has already won. You better take this young lass serious everyone." Stoic says, the crowd breaking out in cheers while Hak lowers his weapon from Spitelout's throat.

The tournament continues like this Hak winning over his opponents with relative ease until there are only two left, Astrid's father and Stoic.

"Hofferson, Hofferson!" The crowd starts chanting, the man being of equal stature than Spitelout jumping into the arena with his sword and shield.

"Ready boy?" The Hofferson asks annoyed, receiving a nod from Hak.

The two people then stare each other down, walking around each other carefully before the older man charges Hak with his raised shield, Hak stopping the charge by slamming his glaives end into the shield, leaving a sizeable dent and sensing the object flying as Astrid's father predicted this and let go of the shield, dodging underneath it and closes the distance between himself and Hak, slashing at the teen, who tosses his glaive up with a flick of his wrist and jumps backwards, dodging the man's attack before catching his weapon behind him just before it would stab itself into the floor of the arena.

"I would like to know why it is you dislike me so much." Hak says clamly, looking at the man who collects his shield.

"You have no respect for tradition. The Hofferson are a proud family of Vikings. Not a family some stranger should be allowed to marry into." Astrid's father says, the girl looking saddened at this.

"I see." Hak says with a sigh and walks towards the man, this being the first time Hak goes on the offensive in the tournament.

With a swipe upwards Hak cleaves the Hofferson's shield in two, making it fall down on the ground broken. Before cutting through his sword with the same ease, leaving him only a sword's handle.

The man tosses the broken weapon aside and raises his fists angrily.

Hak stops and stabs his glaive into the floor, the crowd cheering excitedly.

Once both men are unarmed Astrid's father charges him and Hak simply pushes him aside with a slight tap of his palm, making the Hofferson slam into a wall.

"You should give up. Even if you don't recognize me as Viking, I am out of your league." Hak says confidentially, crossing his arms in front of himself.

"Hah, I got you now!" The Hofferson shouts, pulling the glaive out of the floor with much difficulty due to its heavy weight.

He raises it in front of him and charges at Hak, intending to tun him through, only for the teen to jump up and land on the Glaive which gets lodged in the side of the arena.

Hak simply reaches down from standing on his weapons pole and tosses Astrid's father up to the stands, before jumping off his weapon and says, "Chieftain Stoic, why don't you come down here and I will keep my promise of beating everyone here today?"

"Chieftain! You can take the boy!" Spitelout and other Viking's cheer while getting drunk.

The large Viking grins at this and jumps down into the arena with his axe.

"Are ya ready Hak?" Stoic asks, Hak taking his glaive and holding it beside him before nodding at the bulky Viking leader.

"Rahhh!" Stoic shouts charging forwards with his axe raised above him, slamming the weapon down at Hak, who blocks the strike with his weapon's metal pole.

Stoic then swings his free hand at Hak's ribs, only for the warrior to turn his glaive like a wheel and block the fist with his blade's side, resulting in a loud thump and a grin from Stoic knowing Hak is at least an opponent on his level.

The Viking jumps back and collects a shield from one of the weapon racks, before going back towrds Hak, who takes a different stance.

Hak is standing with his legs slightly apart while holding his weapon horizontally at his side.

Stoic jumps at the teen with his axe slamming down again and Hak throws him back by swiping his glaive at the axe, overpowering the air born man with his incredible speed and weapons weight.

"You're really quite something boy." Stoic praises Hak and tosses his weapon as well as his shield at Hak, who swipes the flying objects aside, only for Stoic to come flying at him with a knee aimed at his face.

Hak leans into the attacker and literally picks him out of the air, slamming the chieftain into the floor with a thump and then points his glaive down at Stoic, the people of Berk being silent in disbelieve before shouting in applause.

"You won well." Stoic says, Hak pulling him to his feet and hands him his favorite axe.

"Thank you Stoic." Hak says gratefully.

"See dad. Even Stoic can't beat Hak." Astrid tells her father proudly.

"Yeah well, Stoic isn't the youngest anymore. We're all not as fit as we used to be." Astrid's father comments stubbornly before the blonde girl leaves to congratulate her boyfriend, ignoring her parents' opinions on Hak for the time being.
