Charlie:

As a single father, I didn't know if I would be able to raise two children the way they needed to be raised. Somehow I was able to do it though and my children have blossomed into wonderful, caring adults.

I remember when Renee, their mother told me when she was pregnant. I was over the moon with joy. Emmett came first. He was a hyperactive child, always curious about everything. When Isabella came along, he was the proudest big brother around even though he was only a year old.

Renee. I loved that woman with everything in me but I knew deep down that she was not happy with the life she was living. The only time she was really happy was when she was teaching and since we had two little ones at home, she stayed home to take care of them. I was still new to the label that I wasn't bringing in the income I am now. We argued a lot about money and about how she was stuck in the house all day long with two baby's.

One night after a huge argument, she decided to leave. I slept in our room that night while she slept on the couch. I offered to take the couch but she insisted that she took it. I now know why she did that. It was so she could leave without me knowing. I woke up the next morning wondering why the house was quiet. Both kids were still sleeping. I found the papers sitting on the kitchen table. I was kind of expecting the divorce papers but what really pissed me off were the custody papers. She gave me full custody of Emmett and Bella. Now don't take it the wrong way, I love my children more than my own life, but I was pissed because she left without wanting to see her children ever again.

Emmett was four and Bella was three. They cried for days because they missed her. It was hard to explain to them that she wasn't coming back. They stopped calling out for her after two weeks. I had great neighbors who helped me with them. Esme and Carlisle Cullen watched them while I worked. They had two sons of their own so the four of them would play together. However, when Emmett was six, the Cullens had to move because Carlisle got a job offer that he couldn't pass up.

Emmett started kindergarten while Bella went to daycare. I hated separating them but it had to happen. Things got better for them when they meant Angela, Rosalie, Jasper, and Alec. Those kids were a handful growing up but I could always count on them to watch each other's backs. Emmett, being the oldest of the bunch, took his job as big brother seriously.

I didn't realize the day that I found the girls in the garage playing on the drums that it would turn into this big adventure. I was amazed at how well the kids took to playing their instruments. Bella loved writing songs. She must have a dozen or so notebooks full of lyrics, just waiting for a melody. I thought it would be cute if they played cover songs while I recorded it. Social media is a good way to get your voice heard and that is what happened. Their YouTube channel blew up. Soon people were requesting them to play songs.

They performed in the talent shows at school and the local fairs. I also helped them set up gigs at local clubs. They really worked hard to get where they are.

Aro, my boss, had been on my case for years to bring them in to sign contracts. I didn't think they were ready and after talking to their parents, we decided to wait a few more years.

The time came that I thought they were ready so I set a meeting up with Aro. I already knew he loved their music and had no plans of changing them. I knew this record label would be good to work for. They treated their artists with respect and never pushed them further than they thought they could go. Some managers don't go on the road with their artists, however, I couldn't just sit back and let them go without me. This was their first album, their first tour. I needed to be there just like I was there for every other important thing in their life.

So that explains why I am sitting in the sound booth right now. The stage is set up. Their instruments are set to go including the piano on B stage. The light and sound crew are patiently waiting for the kids to get here so they can do a sound check.

I pulled out my phone to send a text to Bella.

"You all are late." -C

I didn't get a text back and looking up at the stage, I could see why. They were finally here. I had to laugh. Bella was on Edward's back. She was pointing her arm in different directions, basically ordering him to move. He threw his head back and laughed. He was good for her. Just like Rosalie is good for Emmett.

Two hours later. Sound check was done. They were just fooling around now, playing cover songs. Bella was sitting on a stool, strumming a soft melody. Everyone was quiet but what really caught everyone's attention was Edward. He started singing into the mic. I think my jaw dropped as everyone's head snapped to him. He had his eyes closed. Bella used to do that in the beginning because she didn't want to see everyone staring at her. Bella kept strumming.

Edward

Tell me somethin', girl

Are you happy in this modern world

Or do you need more

Is there somethin' else you're searching for

I'm fallin'

In all the good times, I find myself longin' for change

And in the bad times, I fear myself

Bella continues to strum her guitar with a twinkle in her eye.

Bella

Tell me something, boy

Aren't you tired tryin' to fill that void

Or do you need more

Ain't it hard keepin' it so hardcore

I'm falling

In all the good times, I find myself longing for change

And in the bad times, I fear myself

Angela comes in quietly on the keyboard, mixing with Bella's guitar.

Bella

I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in

I'll never meet the ground

Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us

We're far from the shallow now

Both

In the sha-ha, sha-ha llow

In the sha-ha, sha-ha-sha-la-la-llow

In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow

We're far from the shallow now

The others start to join in on their instruments.

Bella

Oh, ha-ah-ah

Ah ha-ah-ah, oh, ah

Ha-ah-ah-ah

I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in

I'll never meet the ground

Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us

We're far from the shallow now

Both

In the sha-ha, sha-ha llow

In the sha-ha, sha-ha-sha-la-la-llow

In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow

We're far from the shallow now

All that was heard was silence. Then everyone exploded with cheers.

Holy shit that was amazing.

The concert was set to start in three hours. The opening band would go on first then Midnight Storm.

They all were so happy on the stage right now that I didn't have it in me to ruin their moment right now with an update on the surprise letters that were still showing up. They were getting more aggressive and aimed at Bella. The police have no clue who is behind them. I decided that I would tell them tomorrow at breakfast.

I left the sound box and made my way to the stage to acknowledge that I heard them. I wanted to tell them that it was amazing.

I hugged Bella first. Afterall, she is my baby girl.

"That was amazing. You two should sing together more often." I said.

Bella laughed. "Maybe. I didn't know he could sing like that."

I shook Edward's hand. "Damn good son."

"Thanks Charlie." Edward replied, blushing.

"Okay so don't be mad but a few of us recorded that performance from different angles. I would like to edit it to make it look more like a music video. Then I would like to post it. Is that okay with everyone?" Asked Alice.

I should have known she would be all over the recording.

It was settled. It would be edited and uploaded to social media.

I told everyone to have a good night and I would see them after the show.

Whelp, a little look inside Charlie's mind. I know, I know. Probably not what y'all were expecting but this was in my head so I had to get it out there.

I thought I would surprise everyone with Edward's singing ability.

Until next time. Stay safe.
