To Draw Like You

Kairi looked around at the contents of the white room. Everything in it seemed so different, yet so familiar. Pictures of Sora, Donald, Goofy, Riku, Roxas… The pictures looked so real it was almost as if they were in the room with her.

Such beautiful pictures…

Kairi was curious. If Namine had the ability to draw like this, could she also?

She sat in the lonely white chair she believed Namine had spent months and months under Ansem The Wise's order connecting all of Sora's memories back together.

"Namine?"

…Yes Kairi?

"Teach me to draw like you."

Silence. Then Kairi felt this sort of relaxed feeling… and then started freaking out as she saw her hand move on it's own.

Relax.

Kairi exhaled.

She watched as her hand (Namine's?) picked up a pencil, which seemed to appear out of nowhere.

I'll draw something simple. Just follow me.

She watched her hand suddenly glide past the page as if she'd been doing this her whole life. One line became another and another and another…She watched in awe as the lines, slants, circles and shades all work and come together. She let herself be taken away to another place… another world. All her worries, dreams and fears seem to have faded away onto this once blank piece of paper. …Before she knew it, she was in full control of her hand, and drawing by herself

Kairi opened her eyes (when had she closed them?) and immediately remembered where she was and what she was doing. Her cheeks turned a little red for fear her picture would not be as good as Namine's.

Look at it Kairi.

Kairi took a deep breath and slowly looked down at the table.

It was ok. The eyes were a little off…the hair was a bit too short…the head was a little too big…

It was the most beautiful girl she'd ever seen.

It was the girl who haunted her dreams. It was the girl she thought about all day and all night. It was the girl she'd been wanted so badly to draw since she'd first laid eyes on her.

She was Namine.

The next Kairi knew, Namine was standing at the other side of the table, avoiding eye contact and she, a shade of red she didn't even know existed.

"Namine?"

No answer.

"Namine, please say something."

No answer.

"I'll leave if you want me too."

She signed (an irritated sign?). No, don't leave. She reached under the table for something Kairi could not see and pulled out a piece of paper. She reached out and shoved the paper in Kairi's face, still avoiding eye contact.

Kairi reluctantly took the piece of paper from Namine, and stared at it. It appeared to be similar to her picture, but why would Namine… then she saw it… the longer hair, the school girl outfit… It wasn't the same.

The picture was of her.

Kairi wondered if her face could get any redder. She looked over at Namine, who was now staring out the window.

She didn't get it. What did this all mean? Did Namine want her as much as she wanted Namine? Or did she used to, but not anymore? Was this all some sort of trick?

Kairi placed the picture on the table, and stood up. She took a deep breath and made her way towards Namine. She stopped when she was right next to her… and slipped her hand into hers.

Kairi?

"Yes Namine?

I think you're beautiful too.
