Kotomine Kirei wasn't one that liked attention. He preferred to stay hidden in the background, away from the spotlight. He didn't seek praise nor glory… someone as defective as him didn't deserve anything like that. Moreover, it was… troubling, being around people with his current state of mind. Until he found his answer, he would prefer not to be around people.
It seemed that would be impossible with 'Assassin' around.
He didn't understand it. Not only did his Servant refuse to go into spirit form, anytime the tanned man walked among people he would catch the attention of anyone he'd pass. It was as if the Servant had an aura that demanded everyone's attention. They were stopped many times on the way to the Tohsaka residence, much to Kirei's annoyance. He didn't speak up about it, however. It had only been three days, and if everything went according to plan, then he wouldn't have to spend too much more time with Mr. Satan.
So for now, he would endure it. He stood on the sidewalk, staring at the bright moon in the sky as Mr. Satan stopped to speak to someone else again, this time a young boy with brown hair and his family. The Servant was on a knee, smiling widely to reassure the child.
"That's so cool!" The boy called out with innocent sparkling eyes. "So you'll catch the demon?"
"WAH HA HA HA!" That loud laughter echoed through the city. "Don't you worry about it son. After all, Mr. Satan is on the case! I'll blow them away with one of my world famous Dynamite Kicks, just you watch!" He stood up and posed, his white cape flowing in the wind. "I am, after all, the Savior of the World!"
Kirei reminded himself once more he should never make promises he couldn't keep as Mr. Satan tussled the boy's hair. "So, don't you worry about it, okay? You and your family have a good rest of the night, alright?"
"Okay!" The boy cheered as his parents thanked Mr. Satan for cheering up their boy. The boy waved goodbye to the Servant as the hero watched on, folding his arms and smiling. It was always nice when he encouraged someone.
"Are you done?" Kirei asked, to which Mr. Satan whipped around, giving Kirei a thumbs up.
"Yeah! Let's get to your friend's house then!" The two began to walk down the street once more, neither the Master nor the Servant noticed the redheaded man that walked past them, eyeing the family Mr. Satan just reassured with the eyes of a predator stalking his prey…
Much to Kirei's relief, they soon left the hustle and bustle of the big city, walking through the residential area, the dim lighting allowing him to blend into the darkness much easier. The priest was careful to keep an eye on his surroundings, looking for any sort of familiars that may be following them. They needed the biggest audience they could have for this show, after all.
He did his best not to be distracted by Mr. Satan's confident stride, the exaggerated movements of his walk causing the cape to brush against Kirei every few seconds. It was… annoying. But it didn't matter to Kirei, if this is what he needed to do to help Tokiomi, then he would deal with it.
They soon came up to a hill overlooking the Tohsaka mansion, the two stopping to take in the view. Kirei was almost tempted to tell his Servant goodbye, to apologize that he was sending him off to his death, but in the end, held his tongue. Mr. Satan was a familiar, nothing more, any humanity he seemed to have wasn't really real.
"So… um… this is a nice view and all, but… what are we doing here?" Mr. Satan broke the silence with his question.
"You are to head straight to the Tohsaka residence," Kirei ordered.
"... Does your friend not know the war started or something?" Mr. Satan's confused tone caused Kirei to shake his head. How could this man miss something so simple?
"You are to kill Tohsaka Tokiomi," Kirei's deep voice commanded. A moment of silence passed between the two, the air growing tense. Mr. Satan took that moment to take a good look into Kirei's dull, lifeless eyes, and for the first time, examine them.
He wasn't fond of what he saw.
"Now hold on there," Mr. Satan for the first time dropped his bombastic voice to take a serious tone. "I didn't come here to kill people, I came here to beat Servants and help you get the Holy Grail!" Kirei almost blinked at this admission.
"But… you are an Assassin," the priest pointed out, to which Mr. Satan shook his head.
"Hey, not every Archer uses a bow, and not every Assassin kills people! The Throne seems to put a lot of martial artists in the class too! Do you really believe someone like me can sneak around?!" Mr. Satan pointed out. Kirei had to admit, he couldn't see someone like the supposed Savior of the World sneaking around. But that was a moot point in the end, they needed to eliminate Assassin in order to let Kirei sneak around and murder the other Masters when they least expected it.
That was the plan Tokomi and Kirei discussed, and even without a Hassan, the plan did not change.
"If you are so unwilling…," Kirei finally steeled himself as he lifted up his arm.
"I'll show you!" Mr. Satan's loud boisterous voice once again echoed. Kirei was sure that if this wasn't staged then Archer would have found them and killed them both by now. "I'll take out Archer myself!" Mr. Satan suddenly ran off, taking a huge leap off the side of the hill and diving towards the ground. Kirei finally actually blinked and looked over the cliffside, watching the man fall. The priest could feel a smile tugging on the side of his lips. This should be entertaining.
As he fell to the Earth, Mr. Satan pulled out a capsule from his pocket, pressing a button on the top of it. A puff of smoke poured out of the capsule, revealing a jetpack. With a grin, Mr. Satan reached out to grab it, but as he fumbled through the air to attempt to slip it on, he realized something important.
He was rapidly running out of time.
"Why didn't I put this on before I juuuuuuumped?!" Mr. Satan cried out before he landed face first on the ground, a small crater in the shape of his body had formed on the point of impact and destroyed some of the Tohsaka's beautiful flowers. With a painful groan, Mr. Satan lifted his face, only to see a few swords flying at him at high speeds. It took every ounce of power from Mr. Satan's body to roll out of the way in time.
"Oh?" A new, confident voice rang out, which caused Mr. Satan to scramble onto his feet. "Are you really going to 'show us', mongrel?" Mr. Satan couldn't even look up to see who was taunting him before he had to once more, barely able to stay ahead of the swords that were flying at him. Even then, Mr. Satan's speed wasn't enough, as a sword hit him in the ankle, causing the man to fall over, blood spurting from the wound.
On the hilltop, Kirei watched, sighing to himself. It was over much faster than he anticipated. Perhaps it was good they were cutting their ties here. He turned to walk away, but suddenly, he felt all his mana being drained away from his body, the man falling to his knees as his body felt as if it was on fire. All his strength was leaving him, but he managed to position himself back to look at the battle. Something was wrong...
Gilgamesh, meanwhile, readied to end the life of the pathetic Assassin that believed he could defeat him, but before he fired, a new voice rang out, catching his attention.
"You hurt Mr. Satan…," from under the man's gi, a pink substance began to flow out, gathering into a puddle in front of Mr. Satan. The puddle then began to take form, stretching upwards as it molded itself into a vaguely humanoid form. Details began to form on the goo, turning into what seemed to be… a fat pink demon. "Buu will make you pay!" Majin Buu cried out before he began to walk towards Gilgamesh, steam whistling out from the small holes on his head.
Gligamesh was not impressed. The golden portals behind him unleashed a terrible barrage of weapons onto the demon. Buu soon found himself impaled by weapons of all kinds, before flames erupted from some of the swords, ice formed on the ground, and lightning struck the weapons with a loud boom. All these magical effects and more struck down upon Majin Buu as Gilgamesh haphazardly threw his weapons at the creature.
Soon, Buu stopped moving, and Gilgamesh folded his arms, laughing arrogantly.
"BUU!" Mr. Satan cried as he reached out to the form of his skewered friend, but he paused as Buu's voice rang out.
"Buu… really, really…," The Majin flexed, some of the weapons flying out of him, his wounds healing instantly. "Really… really…," he crossed his arms over his chest, hunching over. It was at that moment Gilgamesh noticed a large amount of mana gathering inside the blobby beast.
"YOU MONGREL!" He yelled as his portals suddenly dropped shields in front of him.
"HATES YOU!" With a scream that reached the heavens, Buu stretched his arms to the sky as an explosion rushed out of him, engulfing the entire area in a sphere of pink light. The force was extraordinary, but Gilgamesh worried not, for his shields held. When the light died down, Gilgamesh dismissed his shields, gritting his teeth as he realized that Assassin and his pet demon were gone.
Looking behind him, he saw his Master was still alive, however… the entire mansion was nothing more than a smoking crater, disintegrated by the demon's attack. If his Master was anywhere but behind him at that moment, he would have died, and left Gilgamesh to fade away after a few days.
This Assassin… this Assassin dared to humiliate the King of Heroes with a trick like this? Gilgamesh surveyed the area. Most people would think that the attack the demon unleash was some sort of final suicide manuever, but Gilgamesh knew better than that. A creature that took several of his weapons without physical harm wouldn't just go for a suicide attack. The King gritted his teeth.
"Mr. Satan, was it?" He growled. "When I find you, mongrel, I will put your legend to the test. Can the man who defeated the God of Destruction Lord Beebus overcome the King of Heroes…?" He knew the answer himself, but it would be great revenge to see the man struggle for his life.
He would make Mr. Satan pay for this insult.
"Wooo! That's Assassin down!" A young mage called out as he sat on the bed, pumping his fists in victory. The room they were staying in was really small, barely any space for him and his Servant, but it didn't matter for now. What mattered was that they had a base of operations for this Holy Grail War.
"Aw… really? Boo, that's no good. That's one less person to fight, ya know?" the other person in the room, the boy's Servant, responded as he did push ups on the floor. "Crying over spilt milk ain't gonna help, but I was lookin' forward to fightin' everyone at least once," The man suddenly stopped, standing up quickly, almost knocking over the the small table in the room.
"Wh-what is it, Rider?" The boy asked, startled by his Servant's sudden movements.
"I sense someone strong!" The Servant's face broke out into a huge grin. "Eh heh, I'm gettin' excited now! Let's go, Waver!" Faster than the boy could process, the Servant grabbed his Master, tucking him under his arm before pressing two fingers to his head. In an instant, the two found themselves outside on the roof of the house they were staying, the Servant clicking his tongue. "Ah, bein' a Servant doesn't let me go that far?" He looked down at the boy under his arm, who was trying to process what just happened. Flying with him probably wouldn't make the boy feel safe… With a grin, the Servant took a running start off the roof, leaping into the air, the cool air whipping past both of their faces. "Kinto'un!" The Servant called out, a golden cloud zipping out from the sky and catching the two before taking off into the distance at high speed.
Time to find a sparring partner!
33,000 feet above the ground flew a plane carrying a participant of the Holy Grail War, the Saber Servant Artoria. She sat quietly in her seat, looking around the small plane cabin with a neutral expression, despite the small feeling of excitement bubbling up in her stomach. She knew that flying was now commonplace due to the knowledge the grail granted her, but experiencing it was a much different story.
If only they could serve better food up here.
Quietly, she shifted in her seat, hoping she didn't disturb her fellow passenger Irisviel, positioning herself to look out the window. She had done this many times throughout the flight, but the sight of the world above the clouds still captured her imagination.
The last thing Artoria expected to see when she looked out her window this time was a face with an innocent and excited grin pressed against it.
"Yo! I'm Son Goku! You wanna spar?" the man riding a golden cloud with a screaming young boy hanging on to him asked.
