"Amari dear, don't forget to make your dinner tonight. I'll put it in the fridge, you'll just have to microwave it. Have a nice day sweetie." Her mother called as she frantically scrambled around for her keys, finally finding them in her purse and planting a kiss on her daughter's forehead before jogging towards the door.

"Yes mom, thanks mom." Amari said looking at her mother in amusement, chewing a piece of toast.

Her mother was a rather small woman with the same shade of hair as herself and bright blue eyes. She worked as a nurse in the hospital on the ICU and that usually meant she would be home late. She, unlike her father, did not possess a healing quirk but instead was the owner of a telekinetic quirk that she chose to only use for convenience, never really caring for it much.

Her father on the other hand possessed a quirk identical to her grandmothers. He too was working in the local hospital. He was often called in for emergency cases when some hotshot hero nearly got themselves killed again, so he was a rather busy man who wasn't home much either. Not that she minded, she didn't really get along with her father. He was a rather selfish person, not partaking in conversation if they did not concern him. The only thing he really talked to her about was her quirk or her grades in school, pushing her to be better even if she was already consistently top of her class in middle school.

Having finished her toast, she slung her bag over her back and walked out the door, locking it behind her. She put the key into her bra as to not lose it and put her pair of wireless earphones in her ears. Slightly nodding along to the music she made her way to the station. She noticed she was receiving quite some looks, much like she had the day before. The U.A. uniform certainly made her stand out from the rest. Self-consciously, she tugged her skirt down and her black high knee socks up. The skirt was cute she supposed but pants would have definitely been more practical, especially in the colder months of the year. Oh well, it is what it is.

Checking her phone she cursed softly as she noticed she was running late, speeding up to a slow jog. It didn't matter at what time she got up, she always ended up having to rush.

Five minutes later she managed to squeeze into the train right before the door closed. Trying to not pant too loudly she looked around for a free seat in the crowded compartment.

"Shuzenji!"

The pink-skinned girl from her class, Ashido Mina if she remembered correctly, waved from across the compartment with a smile too bright for the early hours of the morning.

Amari waved back at her before making her way towards her classmate and plopping down in the seat beside her.

"Good morning Ashido, I didn't know we lived in the same direction." She pushed out, still a bit high in her breathing. She was not exactly the fittest girl around. The only form of workout she did were the dance classes she attended once a week and the walk from her house to the station.

"Oooh you can call me Mina! We should definitely walk to the station together after school or maybe we could go to the city and do some shopping!"

Amari chuckled at the girls enthusiasm. She hadn't really paid a whole lot of attention to Mina yesterday due to her sitting on the other side of the classroom but she was thoroughly amused by her friendly and bubbly personality.

"Please call me Amari then. It would be great to walk together after school. Wanna exchange phone numbers?" She replied excitedly.

"No way! He really told you guys he would expel one of you?!"

Fifteen minutes later she walked into the 1A classroom, still chattering with Mina with a small smile on her face.

"Oh yeah, everyone was so scared." Mina replied with a disdainful look on her face. "Imagine being sent home on your first day. It was all a ruse though in the end but man were we scared. Anyway you should totally sit with me at lunch."

After giving an enthusiastic nod, the two girls moved to their respective seats, where Amari put down her leather backpack. Not giving more than a quick glance at her still extremely silent seat partner behind her, instead turning her attention to the girl sitting in front of her who had already turned around in her seat upon noticing the girls arrival.

"Good morning Yaoyorozu-san, I heard you got first place in the quirk assessment test yesterday. That's amazing! What kind of quirk do you have?"

At that her seat neighbor let out a loud scoff, glaring her down with his bright red eyes. Amari gulped nervously and averted her eyes from the intimidating blonde, ducking down her head.

"Good morning to you too Shuzenji-san. My quirk allows me to produce any non-living object by transforming the molecular structure of my lipids accordingly." Yaoyorozu replied coolly.

Amari leaned closer to her over her desk, eyes wide. "No way, you must be so smart to know all the molecular structures of those objects. That's really impressive Yaoyorozu!"

Her classmate averted her eyes bashfully.

"GOOOOD MORNING!"

Amari nearly fell out of her seat at the loud voice echoing through the classroom, leaving her ears ringing. Glancing around she sighed in relief when she noticed no one had noticed her embarrassing herself.

"MY NAME IS PRESENT MIC AND I AM YOUR ENGLISH TEACHER. PLEASE OPEN YOUR BOOKS AND GRAB A PENCIL TO TAKE NOTES."

Of course, in a school as this not even regular classes could be given in a normal way. Lucky for her though, English was just one of those classes she didn't have to put much effort into. Probably from watching English shows on Netflix from a young age. So instead of paying attention she opted to just stare out of the window and doodle in her notebook for the duration of the class.

She was pulled from her musing by a loud bell ringing, signaling an end to the lesson and the beginning of her favorite subject: lunch.

She immediately perked up and rapidly packed her bag, convincing Yaoyorozu to come sit with her and Mina. Yaoyorozu sadly had to decline however, saying she needed to use the time to look over her notes. Amari wished her good luck and bounded over to Mina.

"Let's goooo I heard they have the absolute best food here." The pinkette drooled, grabbing a starving Amari by her arm and hurriedly pulling her towards the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was as grand and over the top as every other part of the school thusfar. Delicious smells wafted through the air, making her stomach rumble in approval. Vending machines lined the walls but what were by far most students were lined up to get a dish made by the lunch hero Lunch Rush.

The two girls grinned at each other before lining up to get their hands on what would probably be the best school lunch they had ever tasted. Not that the bar was very high.

Amari was in absolute bliss as she inhaled the soba she had gotten. This was indeed the best soba she had tasted in her life. She, along with Mina, was currently sat at a table with a few guys from their class. Why? There was no free table so Mina had just told one of them to move down and pulled Amari down with her at the table.

Quite frankly, she would have rather sat outside than sit at this table but Mina had refused and dragged her towards the table where she was now politely conversing with Kirishima, a friendly guy with bright red hair, and Kaminari, a rather flirty guy with yellow hair. She was doing her utmost best to ignore the angry grumbling and shouting from across the table where yet another of her classmates was seated, Bakugou, the constantly angered blonde. She was still a bit wary of the guy and by no means intended to interact with him and possibly aggravate him further. The less aggravated he was, the less noise he made and the better she could pay attention in her classes.

"So wait, Recovery Girl is your grandmother? Does that mean you also kiss someone to activate your quirk cause if that's the case I might get injured soon." Kaminari inserted a big wink at that.

Amari visibly recoiled, a shiver running down her spine. She was definitely uncomfortable with the blondes behavior towards her. She let out a sigh though, knowing the question would have come sooner or later.

"Yeah, she really is and unfortunately for me I indeed have to... make lip to skin contact in order to activate my quirk. I'd rather you not get needlessly injured though. I have the feeling I'll have my hands full in this class, especially with Midoriya." She replied with a semi-pleasant smile on her face, putting her chopsticks down neatly across her bowl, having just finished.

At that Kaminari deflated a bit, getting the hint. Kirishima patted him on the back in comfort.

"Hah" Bakugou scoffed, his red eyes focusing on the relatively small girl across from him "You won't be seeing the likes of me in the nurse office like that incompetent nerd."

Amari stared at him for a few seconds in surprise and annoyance at his rudeness before electing to do what her mother said was the best way to deal with people like him: ignore him.

"I am" The door slid open, a loud voice booming through the room "coming through the door like a normal person!"

The class collectively let out a gasp as the number one hero of Japan came waltzing into their classroom: All Might. Amari's eyes were wide with wonder. This was possibly the most famous person in the country and here he was, right in front of her.

Holy shit holy shit I need to get an autograph

"Welcome to the hero foundation class. Let's jump right into it with a trial of battle! And to go with that, we've received your costume designs." Slots with numbered cases slid out of the wall "Get changed and we'll be ready to go. Meet me at ground beta!"

At that the muscly hero left the room, his cape swishing behind him dramatically.

The class burst out in excited muttering as they rushed to get to their costumes, eager to finally look the part.

Amari sighed and trudged out of the room to the infirmary. She sadly wouldn't get to experience All Might as a teacher since he only taught the hero class. Ah well, at least she wouldn't have to get punched in the face or whatever they did during those lessons.

She slid open the door to the infirmary to see her grandma already tending to a student from the regular course. As she walked closer she saw that he had a small cut on his hand. Her grandma kissed the disturbed first year on the cheek and sent him off.

"Good to see you dear, I was thinking that today we could do some more practical work. The next patient that comes in is yours to treat."

She nodded and flopped on a bed and resumed reading the thick tome, having been told to expect an exam about its contents in the near future.

"By the way, where is your costume?"

Amari gave Chiyo a confused look, putting the book down.

"What do you mean? I'm not part of the hero course so why would I have a costume?"

"What makes someone a hero?" Recovery girl questioned, averting her eyes to look at her computer where she was placing orders for extra supplies.

"Uhhh... fighting villains?"

Her grandma deadpanned at that. "And why do they fight villains?"

"...to save someone?"

Chiyo chuckled at that. "And what is it that we do?"

"Save people... Oh"

"Exactly dear, we are the ones who save the heroes. We may not have to risk our life to do so but we still give it our all to make sure the patient pulls through. So in a different way we are heroes too. So that's why you deserve a costume too." She pulled out a case from beneath her desk and passed it to her still mildly confused granddaughter.

Amari carefully grasped the case, setting it down on the sheaths before opening it with bated breath. She pulled out the fabric from the case, doing a sharp intake of breath as she saw the design.

It was a white skintight bodysuit that went down to mid-thigh with short sleeves. Around the waist was a red belt where medical supplies could be hung from and on the back was a big red cross. The box also contained high red boots and short red gloves with retractable finger parts.

She could hardly suppress a squeal as she pulled the curtains round the bed and got changed into it. She looked in the mirror and could hardly believe her eyes. She did look like a hero. She didn't feel like one nor was she one, but she sure as hell looked the part. Super medic.

"Tadaa!" She said as she stepped from behind the curtains, twirling around for her grandmother.

"You look wonderful dear. Now, we just got a report of an injury on ground beta and I was thinking you could go and get some practical experience."

Ground beta? That was where her classmates were. She wondered which one had managed to get injured within the first 30 minutes of the class.

Of course. Midoriya.

Her brows were furrowed as she looked at the limp body sprawled out in front of her. His arm looked burned and possibly broken, the rest of his body suffering from minor burn marks with patches of soot covering all the space between. It was a bit of a nauseating sight. She glanced furtively at All Might, wondering what kind of teacher would let his students get this beaten up.

Around her stood a bunch of her classmates, curious to see what she would do. She let out a sigh, sinking down to her knees. Pretending this was one of the fake victims that her father made her practice first aid on. First she checked his pulse, fingers resting on the side of his neck, which was luckily steady.

She looked around to see if her classmates were still looking. They were. Well, this is awkward. She slowly bent down and pressed a kiss on Midoriya's cheek, seeing as that was pretty much the only surface on his body that was not marred in burns, bruises or scratches. As she pulled back, she grabbed his hand in hers and closed her eyes in focus.

The class looked on in wonder as a soft golden light enveloped the girls hands, like sunlight swirling around her fingers. Her breath hitched as her quirk loaded her with all kinds of information about his health.

Heart beat: 73 bpm

Blood pressure: 118/76

Immune system activated higher than normal, fighting of a foreign substance. Perhaps just a common cold.

Body temperature: 37.7 °C

Respiration rate: 12 breaths per minute

Focusing, she found several broken bones in his hands and arms. She managed to mend the blood vessels that got torn in the process, the swelling went down and the bruising alleviated. She fused the skin together, stimulating cells to divide and differentiate into the needed tissues, on a few bleeding gashes. The burns and bones would need to be fixed by her grandmother. She didn't really know how to go about it. Most importantly though was that she just did not have the energy required to keep her quirk active for more work.

You see, where her grandmothers quirk used the stamina from the injured person to heal their body, her quirk had mutated and instead drained her own stamina. It had its pros and cons of course. On one hand she couldn't help nearly as many people in a row as Chiyo but she was able to take care of more gravely injured people without having to worry about killing them by draining all their stamina. She just had to worry about not killing herself in the process.

The way her quirk took affect was also slightly different. Her grandmother merely kissed the patient and that was that. She, however, had to first kiss the person to kickstart the whole thing and then needed to make prolonged physical contact with the person for the duration of the process.

As she opened her eyes she saw people looking on in either curiosity or wonder, or in Bakugou's case, blatant disinterest.

"That was awesome Amari!" Mina squealed excitedly from behind her.

"Healing quirks are rare aren't they, All Might?" Kirishima asked, shooting a thumbs up at the girl still sitting on the floor, trying to catch her breath.

"That is correct young Kirishima! Which is why it is such a blessing to not only have Recovery Girl on standby for us heroes, but also young Shuzenji! With that said, do try to not give them too much work." The number one hero replied with a grin so bright that it almost made the boy shield his eyes.

Amari smiled tiredly, waving to the medi-robots to put Midoriya on a stretcher and transport him to the infirmary before standing up and following behind. Using her quirk, especially as intensively as she had on her classmate just now, always left her feeling physically drained. Overusing her quirk would lead to her body shutting itself down in order to conserve and generate new energy.
