CH2

"Rick Castle." Nothing.

"Richard Castle." Nope.

"Richard Alexander Castle." Still nothing. She tried Edger and still nothing.

"Alexander Castle." A magician who looked nothing like Castle.

"Alexander Rodgers." A farmer in Kansas who didn't look anything like Castle.

She entered his phone number and it came up addressed to Richard Rodgers…aka Tom Demming. Well, if Castle wasn't showing up, maybe she had to search some other names to find him.

"Martha Rodgers." Broadway star. Mother to Richard Rodgers and grandmother to Alexis Rodgers. Nothing unusual there…besides that Richard Rodgers, wasn't her Rick Castle.

"Meredith Lee Harper." Actress. Married to…Gina Cowell, best known for being James Patterson's publisher. Well, that was unexpected.

"Sophia Turner." English teacher at PS 120. I'd hate to be a student of hers.

"Kyra Blaine." Married to Greg Murphy. Good to know something didn't change in this timeline.

"Nikki Heat." James Patterson trilogy. Oh, Castle's not going to be happy with that.

"Derrick Storm." Alex Conrad best selling series and a well-received movie. Oh, that might be worse.

"Jerry Tyson." Dr. Jerry Tyson and his wife Dr. Kelly Tyson own a rehab to help young girls with eating disorders. Well, that's a step up from serial killers.

"William Bracken." A photo popped up right away of her mother standing next to the man that killed her….the man that appeared to be the Governor of New York. They looked happy and it made her want to vomit. She scrolled down to see a picture of herself with Bracken. It wasn't the one of her arresting him, no it was her endorsing him. She quickly did another search.

"Vulcan Simmons." Dead, former bank teller before he was hit by a subway car. She knew she shouldn't feel happy about that, considering this Vulcan Simmons did nothing wrong, but a part of her did.

"Roy Montgomery." Alive and retired. Good….but no involvement with Richard Castle.

"Javier Esposito" Captain at the 15th precinct. Married to Lanie Parish. She smiled at that one. About time.

"Kevin Ryan." Captain at the 12th precinct. Married Jenny Ryan and has four kids.

"Victoria Gates." Commissioner and not being involved in Castle's antics it seems.

"Josh Davidson." Married to Katherine Beckett. Lead cardiac surgeon at NYU Medical Center. Wonder if he's still Doctor motorcycle boy or just Doctor?

"Will Sorenson." NY State trooper. Hmm, never went to Boston it seems.

"Tom Demming." Some older man that looked nothing like the Tom in her universe or Castle. Also, he died at the age of 97.

"Jordan Shaw." Mother of two. A judge in NY State.

"Hal Lockwood." Police Training Officer. Well, that's a surprise.

"Dick Coonan." A famous chef with a famous knife collection. How fitting.

"Cole Maddox." US Military Officer.

"Michael Royce." Retired Police Captain. Alive.

"Ashley Tisdale." Dead. Cold Case. Cold Case? How could that be?

"Angela Candela" Missing child. Cold Case. No, no. All the cases she solved…they couldn't all be cold. She searched for a few more names she remembered and all of them were cold cases.

She was about to do another search when a travel coffee cup was placed on her desk. "Castle?"

"Castle? What are you searching for this morning? Or better yet, what trip are you planning and can I come?"

Kate knew that voice. "Will?"

"Yea figured I'd come by and wish your dad a happy retirement. Are you ok? You look…different?"

"No, I'm…." She looked at him and she looked at the picture on her desk. It was one of him, her, and Josh at what she assumed was their wedding. She suddenly got a feeling that she could trust Will. "No, I'm not ok. Will, what would you say if I told you I feel like I woke up and I'm in the wrong timeline?"

He took the seat next to her. "What do you mean the wrong timeline?"

"Like…like I'm in an alternative universe and this is not my life."

"If it were anyone else besides you, Kate, I would think they were crazy. I know you though. So…what makes you say you're living a different life?"

She sighed, grateful that at least she had one person here that believed her. It might not be the person that she wanted to help her get out of here, but at least he wanted to help her. "Well for one thing my mother is alive and the guy that killed her looks to be her friend. My husband apparently doesn't exist and I'm married to an ex-boyfriend from 4 years ago. Oh and the person who has my husband's legal name…guess what, not my husband and is another ex-boyfriend."

Will looked at her with an expression she couldn't read. "This husband of yours. Is that Castle?"

"Richard Castle."

"What does he do?"

"He's a mystery writer. He also shadows me to help solve cases."

"You're not a lawyer?"

"Homicide detective."

"Geez, Kate. Dare I ask what I do in your universe."

"We dated, but you moved to Boston and I didn't want to leave New York. You're with the FBI."

He nodded. "And we…still talk right?"

"We're on mutual terms." It wasn't a lie. He invited her to his wedding and she invited him to hers. They didn't speak like they were best friends, but "Happy Birthday" and "Merry Christmas" texts were exchanged each year along with any other big news that came up along the way. She had ill feelings towards him after he left for Boston, but when he returned to help with Angela's case, she saw that it was for the best that they had gone their separate ways. Castle helped her see that too, not just because she developed feelings for him. Castle showed her that she was a great cop and that if she left with Will she wouldn't be the detective that she was meant to be.

"Well, at least you have one advantage up your sleeve. If you're a homicide detective you'll figure out how to get back. Because if you're anything like the Kate I know, you're not going to stop until you do."

AN: Thank you so much for the reviews and I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I know some of you may not like that Will is helping Kate, but I felt like he was the only logical ex of hers that would work here and also one that not as many people hate hahaha. I hope Kate's Google searches clear up where the others are and don't worry, you'll be seeing some of them real soon. For those worried about Dr. Motorcylce Boy, without giving too much away, he's just here for the ride. Until next time.
