She vividly remembered the first time she met him. It was a hot summer day in the Fusion Dimension, she was out for a stroll wondering about what to do now that her studies for the day were over. That is when she saw him… a young boy wearing a standard Slifer Red jacket uniform that unbuttoned and had a black shirt underneath it. His duel disc was lazily hanging off his arm as if it was about to fall off and he looked to be asleep as if he didn't have a care in the world.
Alexis couldn't believe it, there was a Academia student… just lazing around as if he didn't have a care in the world and as if he simply didn't care about the Professor's noble dream of uniting the four dimensions in peace and tranquility. She immediately went over to him intent on knocking some sense into him.
"You know, sleeping on campus is strictly against the rules." Alexis told him with a strict look on her face.
The boy slightly opened his eyes and looked at her, and like that she was immediately transfixed by his eyes, those big and round brown eyes that seemed radiate warmth and kindness.
"I know but I simply don't care. And besides I don't that the Professor will mind if catch a few minute of shut eye." The boy cheerily responded to her.
This for some reason infuriated Alexis who immediately challenged him to a duel. The boy smiled and happily agreed as he got up.
As the two of them activated their duel disks, Alexis couldn't have shaken this feeling that there was more to this boy than meets the eye. But even with that, she still felt confident in her ability to win. After all she was one of Academia's best duelists! On par with both Yuri and the Commander-in-Chief Aster Phoenix. This boy was a simple Silfer solider and could barely pose a threat to her.
Yet as they started their duel, Alexis was soon proven to be so wrong. This boy who seemed soon carefree and lazy was in fact a incredible duelist, someone who was capable of countering her best strategies and sending back battle damage with twice the effort!
Alexis soon fell over as she was beaten while the boy come over.
"Hey! That was really fun! You're a incredibly duelist." The boy told her.
Alexis swallowed her pride and allowed herself to helped up as the boy introduced himself.
"My name is Jaden. Jaden Yuki." He said.
"Alexis Rhodes." She responded with a small smile on her face.
Soon the two of them sat on a bench and began talking about their respective lives including what brought them to Academia. However soon enough the sun came down and both of them returned to their respective rooms with Alexis not knowing her life had changed forever that day.
From that day on, she and Jaden began spending a lot of time together. Weather that was during lunch, after their duel classes or even sneaking outside their dorms to hang out. Slowly but surely, Jaden and Alexis soon began to bond with their love of dueling being their main connection. And though Alexis didn't know it at the time, she was slowly but surely falling in love with Jaden.
One day, while she and Jaden were hanging out. Jaden confessed something to her that shocked her to her very core.
"Jaden… you surely can't mean that!" Alexis said.
"No I am being 100% serious Alexis. I hate Academia." Jaden stated.
Jaden went to explain that his love of dueling and how he believed that dueling could create bonds between completely strangers and how Academia actively tried to punish those who felt that way. Alexis kept a stoic face but deep down in her heart, she knew she agreed with him.
Suddenly out of nowhere, Jaden softly kissed her which caught Alexis by surprise but she soon slowly reciprocated.
"Sorry but your face against the sunrise looked really beautiful. I am sorry that it happened maybe we should just…" Jaden stammered out.
"Shut up you idiot and kiss me again." Alexis said as she softly pressed her lips against him again.
Alexis couldn't stay at Academia anymore. They recently invaded the XYZ dimension, and it was a horror story from what she heard. Instead of peacefully uniting the dimension, Academia instead only brought fear and terror to the dimension. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for Alexis and she and the girl that told her the news planned to leave. However just she was getting ready, she was confronted by Jaden.
"So I am guessing that you heard the new Alexis?" Jaden asked.
"…Yes. I am going to leave. You wanna come?" Alexis asked.
Jaden smiled at her and said yes.
Soon after all three of them went to the boat to get them off Academia but when the coast seemed clear they were surrounded by a plethora of Academia students. They carded the girl and was about to do the same to both Jaden and Alexis until Jaden pushed her onto the boat.
"Thank you for everything… Lexi." Jaden said as he turned to face the oncoming students as the boat took Alexis away from Academia.
Alexis was soon brought out of her daydreams as she was walking down the streets of the Fusion Dimension. She took out a picture that show her and Jaden cuddling and was reminded of his faith in her and was resolved not betray that trust as she heard a pink-haired girl being harassed by some Academia students and went over to go help her.
