Olivia unlocked her front door, walking in with Barba following closely behind her. The apartment was pitch black not allowing either of them to know what was in front of them. Olivia walked across the living room attempting to reach for the lamp on the other side of the room.

Barba flipped a switch he found getting the light from the foyer to turn on. He noticed the moment Olivia tripped over a toy car, causing her to stagger. He rushed forward grabbing her arm and pulling her into his chest. With the sudden extra weight mixed with an unbalanced footing, they tumbled onto the couch. Barba gasped at the air being knocked out of him as Olivia landed on top of him.

"Oh god, I-I am so sorry." She buried her face in his chest laughing non-stop.

Barba laughed along holding her tightly to avoid her shaking body from falling to the ground. "It's fine Liv, but you're, okay?"

"I should be asking you that." She rested her chin on his chest. "I heard the gasp."

Barba swallowed hard, looking over at her. "I'm fine." He quickly grabbed her, as she attempted to climb off him. Not too careful of his strength, Olivia was pulled backflushed up against his chest. Inches from his face. "Wait." His breath came out in a small huff. He knew what he wanted. He knew why he wanted it. But he also knew he couldn't have it. Swallowing through his dry throat, he dropped his head back on the couch cushion with a groan. "I…never mind." Letting go of her arm, he ran a hand through his hair. 'Get ahold of yourself, Barba!'

Olivia laid on his chest staring at him confused. That look in his eyes. Filled with fire, was the same one Cassidy used to get. Seeing it in Barba, caught her off guard. And yet it didn't scare her. It intrigued her. It turned her on. Turned on that flame, she thought had died long ago. She knew what he wanted and not so surprisingly she wanted it too. Leaning forward just a tad bit more, she waited for him to lift his head. Confusion was written all over his face, it caused her to laugh. Leaning forward, she just watched him. She wasn't going to make the first move, if he wanted it, he was going to have to take it.

Barba watched her; he couldn't figure out if she was for real. Or not. She crossed her arms over his chest and laid her chin down. A small smirk played at the corner of her mouth. Slowly he pushed her hair behind her ear, cupping her jaw. Pulling her closer to him, he leaned forward. Searching her eyes once more for any hesitation or fear. Finding none, he placed her lips over hers. It was a chaste kiss, just to taste the waters. Feeling her relax on him, he ran his tongue over her bottom lip. The moment she allowed access; it broke all chains holding him back. Pulling her up closer to him, he deepens the kiss. More pressure. More passion. More aggression. His tongue explored every corner of her mouth. The sound of her moan pushed him on. Her hands were torches burning his chest, causing him to groan. He allowed his hand to trail down her body. Reaching the hem of her shirt, he slipped it under groaning softly at the feeling.

Olivia couldn't think. Between his kiss and touch, she was a royal mess. His kiss was intoxicating. It was a drug. The more you had it, the more you wanted. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she tugged on his hair. Thankfully he understood, as he pulled away letting her breathe. But he didn't stop there, his mouth trailed across her jaw, and down to her neck. The moment his mouth latched over her pulse; she saw stars. Olivia moans loudly into his ear, closing her eyes in pure bliss. Feeling his hand slide up her side, over her stomach, and nearing her breast, she stopped him. Pushing his hand back to her stomach. Barba didn't seem to mind, as he continued his assault. His hands no longer pushing up, but simply holding onto her hips. Who knew a man like him could be so…gentle.

"Mommy?"

Olivia gasped, jumping off the ADA in a matter of seconds. She tried to pull herself together, fixing her hair and wiping her mouth off. Barba had yet to move from the couch. "Give me a moment." She hovered over him, pecking him on the lips before going in search of his son.

Barba exhaled slowly closing his eyes for a moment. "What the fuck am I doing?" Pushing himself up to a sitting position. He knew it was a bad idea. He knew the best option was to get up and walk out of the apartment. He scoffed to himself, that was something he will never do.

"Hey, he's asleep." Olivia whispered. "Lucy is in his room asleep as well. That girl could sleep through a hurricane."

"Desoro?"

"On the bed with him." She chuckled.

Barba rolled his eyes. "I'm surprised she hasn't kicked him out of the bed."

"Close to it."

The silence falling between them was near deafening. They looked at everything but each other. Olivia wasn't regretting anything, but she wasn't sure how to proceed at the moment. Barba seemed to be in the same situation. His hands rested in his lap, hiding-well attempting to hide-the consequences of their previous actions.

Olivia watched him, really watched him. He was handsome. His eyes were a light green, pulling her into him. She had bit her lower lip, knowing very well, that what she was planning was another bad idea. Walking up to him, she stood in front of him. Barba stared at her, a curious look on his face. Olivia grabbed his arms, moving them to his side. Moving closer she quickly straddled him, wrapping her arms around his neck. She didn't know what the hell she was doing, but it was too late to back out now. Leaning down, she gave him a small kiss, just a small peck. Feeling him go rigid, she began to pull back.

Only Barba had other ideas, as his hand latched onto the back of her neck and pulled her in for a searing kiss. His other arm snaked its way around her waist pulling her even closer to him. Olivia couldn't help, but moan softly at the aggression he was displaying. Running a hand through his hair, she grabbed a handful, giving it a hard tug. The man growled, moving his mouth to the base of her neck. His teeth nibbling bruising the tender skin. Pulling back, he glanced up looking at her once more. He was sure his heart would burst out of his chest. Pushing a string of her hair behind her ear, he held her gently by the back of the head pulling her slowly towards him, giving her enough time to pull back if she so desired. Instead, she rolled her eyes and used her free hand to pull him by his shirt, crashing their lips together once more. He kissed her letting the hunger take over-the hunger that had been building up the whole time he'd been trapped in here with her, trapped with her soft flesh and amazing smell surrounding him.

Her mouth opened, lips quivering in anticipation 'perfect' he slipped his tongue in savoring her taste, memorizing every last detail before she would pull away to breathe. Her hands wrapped around his neck pulling him even closer than before. Playing with the hair at the nape of his neck she added more pressure to the kiss demanding more. His fingers dug into her hips as he pushed forward matching her demands, letting go of his neck she trailed down his shirt working on unbuttoning it. Once open, she pushed it down his shoulders leaving it halfway off, smirking at the groan he gave her as she stroked his chest and abdomen loving the way he quivered under her touch. She gave a moan and a gasp when his hands found their way underneath her shirt, hot mixing with fire made her squirm accidentally rubbing her heat with his raging hard-on. With a smirk, she grinded herself against him.

Barba growled at the friction he gave her, releasing her lips he dropped his head against her shoulder groaning as she continued the sweet, sweet pleasure. Looking up he stared into her eyes before she threw her head back releasing a sexy moan making his cock jerk.

"Shh, you'll wake up Lucy." Barba tightens his grip on her hip taking control of the pace, grinding her into him. He wanted to mark her, claim her as his own but, that was never going to happen.

Throwing his head back he growled as she clawed his chest leaving bright red scars down his chest. Looking back at her, his eyes widened she had her head tilted to the side in an act of submission! The man in him roared with pride, leaning up he kissed her neck and licked right over her pulse running his teeth over the tender skin. Olivia moaned as he devoured her neck, the animal in her howled as he dominated her. Never in her life did she ever believe she would submit to someone let alone a man.

She frowned when he abruptly stopped. "Rafael?"

Barba leaned back, taking in a deep breath. "I may be a New York lawyer, but I know when to stop Liv." He chuckled humorlessly at the confused look. "I am not someone you want to get involved with Benson. That is not something either of us is ready for."

Olivia laid her head on his chest. "Why?"

"Because I am not good for anyone." Barba placed his hand on her head, kissing her on the hair. "Don't get me wrong, I would jump off a fucken building for another one of your kisses. But my life is a mess."

"Not only yours."

"I'm sorry Liv." Kissing her once more, he held her close to him.

He knew this was a mistake. He allowed too much to happen too fast. Barba didn't regret what happened, God knows he wanted her. But he couldn't do this to her. He couldn't let her or Noah be sucked into his world. Her own world was bad enough, one glimpse at his and she would never be the same again. That was not something he was willing to risk.

Hearing soft snoring, he glanced down to see her asleep. Carrying her into her room, he laid her on the bed. Removing her shoes and draping a blanket over her, he brushed her hair away from her face. "You will never truly understand how much I love you, Olivia. But I can't risk losing you, not because of me. I would never forgive myself if I did." Slipping out of her room he walked into Noah's careful to not wake the nanny on the folded bed. Desoro raised her head with a growl, laying back down at seeing who it was. Kneeling beside the little boy's bed, he ran his hands through his curly hair. "Sleep well mijo." Kissing him on the head he called his dog only to get no response. "Desoro, come." The dog refused to move from her spot. "Hey let's go home." She gave him a groan stretching to lay on her side. Barba sighed giving in to her stubbornness, he petted her on the head. "Alright, watch over them tonight." Making his way out of the apartment he stopped just outside the door, making a call.

'Seriously Rafael, it's 2 in the morning.'

"Can you appoint someone to Olivia's apartment?"

The sound of rustling was heard. 'Did you and Benson sleep together?'

"No." Barba sighed. "But we almost did."

'I would say good for you, but that's usually reserved when you actually got through it.'

"I can't bring her into the mess that is my life." Barba growled. "I am not about to put that target on her or Noah."

'I understand Rafael.' There was a slight pause. 'I have a young agent on his way now. They will be watched over.'

"Desoro is staying with them for the night." Barba jogged down the stairs and into a hailed cab. "I'll be at the percent waiting for our friends."

'After they finish with you, we will make ourselves present.'

"Just get it done."

The cab dropped him off a block away from his loft. He was in need of a walk to relax some certain parts of his body. "Damit Benson."

Time jump:

Arriving at the station he stopped at seeing the scene in front of him. Amaro was running around his desk, yelling some incomprehensible words. Carrisi was bouncing from side to side by the desk. It was then that he spotted Desoro running around the station with something in her mouth. He thought about calling her off, but he was sure the detectives could handle themselves.

Amaro groaned at missing the dog once more. "Counselor!" Seeing the well-dressed man walk in, he scoffed towards the dog. "Can you?"

Barba sucked on his teeth, pointing towards Olivia's door. "She in?"

"On the phone with Dodds." Fin answered.

"Thanks." He gave Amaro one last look, nearly breaking down in laughter at seeing the exhausted look on the man's face. "She listens to Spanish commands." Knocking on the door he walked in to find her hunch over her laptop again. "Sit too close to that thing and you'll go blind."

"That's if you're sitting too close to a television." Olivia sat up taking her glasses off. "You left last night."

"You fell asleep." He retorted back. "How's the hangover?"

"Don't have one. Didn't drink enough for one." She bit her lower lip, not sure if she should bring up what happened last night. It wasn't just a kiss, she practically undressed him on her couch. Grounded herself over him on her couch. "Barba we-"

"Barba?" It had been months since she last called him that. "This is serious."

"No-yes-no." Olivia sighed. "Yes. We need to talk about last night."

Barba nodded dropping his sights to the ground. "Right, last night."

"I don't know what to think." Olivia began. "I-"

"Liv, let me just stop you right there." Barba scooted forward resting his elbows on his legs. "We had been drinking. Not thinking clearly and allowing our emotions to take control. I'm sorry. It was a mi-"

"Stop. Don't finish that." Olivia raised her hand, not wanting to hear him finish that sentence. She knew this was a probability, but hearing it hurt like hell. "Barba, I don't see it as a mistake. And I had hoped you didn't either."

Barba stood from the couch walking around her desk and stopping in front of her. "Liv." Kneeling in front of her he took her hand in his. "I don't. I have been dying to do that since the moment you first snapped back at me. But I can't. My life is not something I want to get you sucked into. I can't and I won't do that you or Noah."'

"Rafa."

Grabbing the back of her neck, he pulled her forward and kissed her. "I am not risking what we have for something I can't give you."

"That's not just your ch-"

"Captain." Amaro came into the office, faltering back at seeing their current position. "Ah, wow. Sorry."

"There is this thing called knocking." Olivia tried not to sound annoyed, but in this case, it was useless.

"Sorry, but the feds are here."

"Feds? What do they want." Walking out she was greeted with two agents. "What can I do for you?"

"Captain Benson I presume." The oldest smiled. "I'm agent Ramos. This is agent Capshaw. We are looking for Rafael Barba."

Benson was quick to switch her approach towards them, moving to block them from even catching a glimpse of Rafael. "May I ask what this is about?"

"You may ask, but you might not get a response." Agent Capshaw snarked.

"Is he under arrest?" Amaro demanded.

"Depends on what he tells us." Ramos scanned the room, noting that all eyes were on them. "Is he here or not?" They needed to play this carefully. Last thing the wanted or needed was the entire NYPD coming for them.

Barba finished sending a text message, before approaching the group. "What can I do for you agents?"

"Mr. Barba we need you to come with us and answer a few questions." Capshaw reached for him his arm, jerking back at the sudden appearance of a dog. "Your dog?"

"Desoro." Waiting for the dog to lay, he turned his attention back to the agents. "I have a very busy day ahead of me. If you want to ask me questions we can do so here."

"I would prefer if we did it back at our offices." Ramos insisted. "Easier for everyone."

"You mean easier for you." Barba chuckled. "Unless you are here to arrest me, your questions can be answered in the meeting room."

Ramos shared a look with his partner before nodding. They had no cause to drag him in. "Very well Counselor lead the way."

Olivia waited for the three to disappear behind the closed door before she and the rest of the squad piled into her office. They crowded around the two-way mirror, Olivia turning on the speaker one way.

Barba took a seat at the chair facing the mirror. He wasn't stupid, he knew very well they were there. His attention was drawn to Capshaw as he sat on the table beside him. It was a common tactic to either show intimidation or friendliness. "So, you had some questions?"

"Not going to await a lawyer?" Ramos asked.

"I am a lawyer."

"Fair enough, Mr. Barba can you tell us the movements of your day on Monday?" Ramos asked.

Barba raised a brow. "Want to be little more specific? The day has 24 hours. You asking about my morning? Evening? Night?"

"All day."

Barba leaned back in his chair arms crossed. "Any specific time you are looking for?"

Capshaw smiled. "Humor us."

"I woke up at 5. Took a shower, took my dog out for a walk. Ran some errands, came here to speak with Captain Benson. Went home to change for dinner. Ended the night going for drinks with a few coworkers. Took Captain Benson home and I went home." Barba kept a few details out. No need for the squad to know what happened after the drinks.

"What time did you leave Captain Benson's home?" Ramos asked.

"At around 2 am."

"What were the errands?" Capshaw dropped the question.

This was where they thought they had him cornered. "I got a call from my real estate agent. She advised me of a few places outside of the city I might be interested in buying. Two were houses on the south side. One was a beat-up barn on the east side. I went to go see them. After that, I went to go see another one a few miles down."

Ramos looked at Capshaw with a grim look. "Did you see anyone else at the barn?" Barba shook his head. "What's this agent's name?"

"Luisa Gomez."

"So you are telling us you didn't see anyone inside or around the barn?" Capshaw's voice raised.

"No. I saw the place, didn't like it and left."

"So you didn't get out of the car?" Ramos jumped at the possibility of catching him in a lie.

"By seeing the place I had to have walked around." Barba gave him a 'you dumb' kind of look. "Yes, I got out of my car. I walked into the barn and around the property. Again I didn't like it and left."

"Why not?"

"I would be putting more money into fixing the place than what it was worth."

Ramos sighed. "Why are you looking for a barn of all things?"

"I'm not looking for a barn per-say. It's more about the land. What comes with it is an added bonus."

"Alright, I'm done with the chitchat." Grabbing the file from Ramos, he pulled out pictures of a crime scene. Amaro sat limp tied to the chair dead. "This man was found in the barn on the same day you went shopping. Tied to that chair dead. He had been tortured and brutally beaten. Died of internal bleeding caused by a stab wound in his stomach. He had metal rods in his hands with jumper cables attached. A battery on the other end!"

Barba fixed his emotions, looking from the pictures to the agents. "So, let me get this right. You are accusing me of torturing and killing this man based on the simple evidence that I had been there earlier that day?"

"Your prints were there." Capshaw growled. "And you admitted to being there that day."

Barba couldn't help the chuckle. "Because I admitted I was there looking at the property and barn. And of course, my prints were there, I opened the door. Touched a few things inside. Hell, you will also find my urine in one of the bushes from when I took a leak."

"Armando Juarez." Ramos said.

"Sorry?"

"Do you know Armando Juarez?" He asked again.

"No." Barba pretended to ransack his brain. "I have never had a case with that name and I know no one in my personal life with that name."

"Perhaps the detectives?" Capshaw asked.

"They have never been there." Barba assured. "The place had only been on the market a few days. And there is no record of a crime occurring on that property."

"What about Captain Benson?" Capshaw sent a sly smirk to his partner. "Could it be possible she knew him?"

"I don't see how." Barba clenched his jaw. "I have been working along side Captain Benson and her squad for a while. That name had never come up."

"Well, you've only been working with them for what? 10 months." Ramos spoke in a casual tone, trying to see what sort of reaction he could get from him. "You said you had gone out for a drink with her and her teammates right?"

"Yes."

"Which means it's safe to say you and her spend quality time together?" Ramos leaned closer. "Alone time perhaps."

Barba glanced at him with a warning look. "Tread carefully agent."

"Just asking a question here Counselor." Capshaw smiled.

"No, what you are doing is diving into my personal life." Barba sighed.

Ramos dropped his pen with a loud huff. "We just want to know the relationship between the ADA and Captain of the SVU."

"That's enough." Barba pushed his chair back and stood. "From what I have gathered you came here to question me about the murder of a man. Who happened to have been killed at a property I went to see yesterday. You have no leads so you followed the prints. Now I have explained how my prints got there." Grabbing the pictures and shoving them into the file, he held it towards Ramos. "I appreciate the thorough investigation you fine people are doing, but that doesn't give you the right to question my personal life nor the reputation of Captain Benson and her detectives. My relationship with her and the squad is for me and only me to know. It has nothing to pertain to your case, therefore you have no good reason to ask but to only get a rise out of me."

Ramos's smirk had fallen off the moment Barba shut them out. "Very well Mr. Barba." Turning to leave, he paused. "Does your vehicle have a GPS?"

"Yes."

"May we see it?" Capshaw asked.

"Sure." Reaching for his keys he held them out, only to pull them back. "How about a trade."

Capshaw frowned. "Trade?"

"My keys for a warrant." Seeing the look of expatriation he chuckled. "Nice try gentlemen. You want something from me, bring the proper paperwork." Watching them leave, he fell back into his chair with a slow exhaled. "You can stop watching through the window already!"

Benson walked into the room, the other following closely. "We weren't listening in."

"Sure you won't." Barba chuckled.

Rollins took a seat across from him, crossing her arms over the table. "They can't be thinking you had anything to do with that murder?"

Barba raised a brow. "I thought you weren't listening?"

"We may have caught snips of the conversation." Rollins muttered.

"Conversation?" Amaro scoffed. "They flat out interrogated him."

"My prints are the only evidence they have found so far. But unfortunately, that isn't going to lead to anything." Barba assured them. "I never met the man therefore no connection, no case."

"Your GPS?" Fin asked.

"Will show my route to every property I went to that day. Including the time I spent at each one." Barba replied.

Benson gave him a questionable look. "Why not just give it to them?"

"And make their life easier?" Barba shook his head. "No, they wanted to play with the big boys. They will have to get their warrant. They have made my job and yours impossible at times. A little payback won't hurt. Which if I'm correct is going to take a lot more than a simple request from the chief."

"I am starting to like you again." Amanda laid back with a proud smile.

Barba leaned forward studying her for a moment. "Not sure if that is a good thing or bad."

"With Rollins, you never know." Amaro teased.

A knock on the door pulled them back into their reality. "Captain Benson, detectives we a few ladies here looking to speak with SVU."

"Ah, Rollins and Amaro take it. The rest of you get busy." Benson glanced at Barba offering her hand to him. Once he took she pulled him to his feet. "We are not done talking."

"I know, but…" He held his phone up. "I am needed at court. Talk tonight at your place? I'll bring take-out."

"Sounds like a date." Pecking him on the jaw, she walked out.

Barba rested his palms on the table closing his eyes. 'You have to make some distance Barba.' He needed to keep her away. But it wasn't that damn easy. "Fuck!"
