There is smut in this Chapter.
Time jump:
It had been much easier getting him into the loft, seeing how the two men watching over her came over to help. What a way to find out you are being looked over. Just another little pebble to her sack of shit she will be yelling at him for. Once she got him settled on the couch, Olivia served him a glass of whiskey.
"You never told me what your favorite drink was." She handed him the cup, taking a seat beside him. "How's the side?"
"Whiskey and scotch are my two drinks." He placed the cup on the side table. Grabbing the hem of his shirt, he raised it. "It's not bleeding, but the pain is a bitch."
They sat in silence, neither knowing what to say or do. Olivia had hundreds of questions swimming in the back of her mind. Knowing now was the only time she would get answers, she dove in. "So, the feds were right?"
"About?"
"The man in the barn?"
Barba sighed giving her a slow nod. "They were somewhat right. He was never supposed to die. My knife nicked him in a bad spot and he bled internally. Someone found him before the cleaners got there."
"How can you say it so calmly?" Olivia wondered.
"Liv, you need to understand something. These aren't your usual suspects. I don't get called in because they murdered someone or stole someone's purse. There is no innocent until proven guilty. There is no jury or legal system for them. When they come to me, they have already been proven wrong and I am just their questionnaire." Barba was aware she would never truly understand it. "Listen I know you don't approve of this and to be honest I would have been worried if you did. But I was raised in this Liv. I may have been taught to do other things, but in the end, this is what I am. It's what I do." Taking her hand in his, he just noticed how well they fitted in his. "I have never thought about leaving them. They took care of everything and took care of me, all I had to do was get the information they needed."
"What changed?"
"You." He whispered. "I lost the only family I had because of this. One stupid mistake and it was all gone. I swore I would never let anyone get close enough to me to ever become a liability that could be used against me. But fuck did you make it impossible for me. I told James I wanted out after what happened with Lewis. My worst fear became real that day."
Liv raised a hand to his hair, running her fingers through it. "What fear?"
"Not being there when you needed me the most." Barba whispered. "Life can throw whatever the hell it wants at me and I will always come on top. But losing you is something that I will never overcome."
"Rafa..." She waited until he looked over at her. "Lewis was attacked hours after the trial."
"Oh?"
"Did...did you have anything to do with that?"
Barba took her hand off his head, kissing the inside of her wrist. "Do, you want the answer to that?"
"Yes."
"I wasn't involved in his taking and dumping." Barba sighed. "The rest, that was me."
"Why?"
"Why?" He scoffed. "After what he did, he was lucky that was all I did to him. I wanted to make him suffer for laying a hand on you. Sitting in that courtroom and seeing him get away with the major of his punishment was hell. This was my outlet."
Olivia leaned closer to him, pulling him into a deep kiss. "I never thought I would be saying this to the man I love, but thank you. Not for the torture part, but for the rest."
Barba chuckled. "Anytime."
"What now?"
"Nothing has changed Liv." Barba muttered. "Besides the fact that I now know you don't despise me, I still can't stay here."
Olivia pulled away from him. "You're going to leave?"
"For me to get out of this, I must complete my debt. A few more assignments and I am done. But I can't do that being here." Pushing himself to the edge of the couch, he turned to face her. "You and Noah are the world to me and the only way I can keep you safe is staying away from you both. At least until this is done with."
"So, I will take that as a yes." Olivia pushed herself off the couch walking into the kitchen. There wasn't much she could do in convincing him. Rafael was as stubborn as they came. "The man's an idiot."
"Ouch."
She jumped around to find Barba leaning against the door frame. His hand resting over his side. "What the hell are you doing up? You're going to pull your stitches!"
"I know my leaving is not what you expected me to say, but it's for the best Liv. It will only be for a short period." He walked towards her with slow steps. "Do you trust me?"
"With my life."
"Then believe me when I tell you, I will come back." Cupping her cheek, he smiled as she leaned into his touch. "I need a shower."
Olivia rolled her eyes. "Way to ruin the moment."
"Sorry, but I feel icky."
"Come on." Taking his hand, she led him into the guest bathroom. "We just need to be careful of the stitches."
Barba frowned glancing down at his side. "How are you going to manage that?"
"Leave that to me." Getting the bath running at a warm temperature, she called for him. Barba walked in half-naked, with a smirk on his face. "You need to take all your clothes off." Doing what she said he slid into the tub and sighed in content. The water was high enough just to stop bellow the wound. Barba leaned back with eyes closed. Olivia grabbed a sponge and slowly began to remove the blood and grim off his chest and neck. Looking back up at him, she caught him following her every movement. "How did this happen?" She lingered on a large scar over his right pec. "That wasn't there before."
Looking down he raised his hand over the scar. "This was right after we last saw each other. I and two others were ambushed. They wanted information on someone we had...well the organization had. They believed we knew it and well you can imagine what happened after."
"Who was it?"
Barba shrugged. "Don't know." But he did. He knew who gave them his identity and how to find him, but he wasn't about to tell Olivia. He wasn't about to be the one to ruin her friendship with said man. "Carmen and a few men came to our rescue."
Running the sponge over his shoulder, she did a double-take at the ink on his back. "You got a tattoo?"
"Oh, I forgot about that." He snorted. "I think that was about a month ago."
"What is it?" She gently pushed him forward to see the tattoo. It was a pair of woman hands, holding a heart with a saying on the bottom.
"Kudy b ya ne pishov, moye sertse zavzhdy bude u tvoyikh rukakh." He chuckled at the confused look she gave him. "No matter where I go, my heart will always be in your hands. It's Ukrainian. The date of when I first met you and when I asked you to marry me are written in the heart."
"I like it."
Barba chuckled. "I'm glad, seeing how I can't remove it."
"You leave tonight?" She suddenly asked.
"Yeah." He reached for her chin, waiting until she looked at him. "Let's have tonight to ourselves."
"What do you mean?"
He turned his head towards her. "No talk of anything else but us. Just enjoy this moment."
"Okay."
Leaning forward, she crashed her lips onto his. His hand wasted no time in pulling her shirt up. Olivia giggled, pulled back, and removed her shirt, followed by everything else. He stopped her from getting into the tub, and just looked her over. He seemed to be trying to memorize everything, every little detail of her body. He held his hand out for her, helping her into the tub and letting her straddle him. Her hands went to his chest, running her nails down his chest and back up. Olivia loved the way his muscles quivered beneath her touch or the way he would let out a small moan ever so often. Slipping one hand under the water, she wrapped her hand around his hard-on. Barba tossed his head back, with a silent groan. Leaning forward, she licked his wet chest up to his neck and then into his mouth. His hand tangled into her hair, tightening with every hard stroke she gave him. Letting go of her hair he stroked her back, down to her ass, and pulled her forward.
She let out a laugh as the water splashed and spilled onto the floor. Barba reached down between them removing her hand, just as he wrapped his arm around her waist. Not once breaking eye contact, he lifted her up and slowly brought her back down over him. Olivia grabbed onto his shoulders, gasping as he stretched her out. He paused for a moment, letting her get used to him once more. Giving him a small nod, he slowly began to move. His mouth was on her neck, biting and sucking on her pulse like a leech. He was leaving his mark. The one that claimed her as his, yet after tonight she would no longer be his, at least not for a while.
Shifting her hips, Olivia moaned at the amount of pleasure that ran through her body. She wanted him to go faster, harder, but he kept a slow rhythm. He was dragging it for as long as he could. For once she didn't mind, Olivia wanted this to last as long as it could. Looking down at him, she watched him. His eyes were half close, looking down between them as he slid in and out of her. His mouth was red from their make-out sessions and slightly open, letting out the occasional groans. He was sweating, even in the water, she could tell. His arm still wrapped around her waist, keeping her at the pace he wanted and position he wanted. Running her fingers through his wet hair, she wrapped her arms around his neck. Olivia couldn't hold back any longer. Nudging his head back, she gave him a mind-blowing kiss, at the same time she began riding him. Barba groaned into her mouth, his fingers digging into her hips. Breaking the kiss, they gazed at each other; no words simply staring into each other's eyes. Watching as they both reached their limit.
Coming down from her high Olivia rested against his chest, shivering as the air hit her wet body. Barba, wrapped his arms around her, trying to keep her warm. She felt the tear slide off her cheek and onto his chest. His arm wrapped around her tighter, whispering he was sorry once more. Olivia refused to move. She didn't want their time to end. Trying to think back to the happy moments. The moments where it was just her and him.
Barba glanced down at hearing her snoring softly. He chuckled to himself at the number of times she denied the fact that she did snore. Moving her hair away from her face, he sighed. "What the hell have you done to me?" Reaching for the towel on the rack, he somehow was able to pick her up with him. Content in not waking her up, Barba lingered in the hallway for a moment. Deciding their bedroom was the best option, he carried her up the stairs and into the room. Ignoring the growing pain on his side, he laid her down on the bed and covered her up. Walking into the bathroom he stared into the mirror and groaned. "Of course, you did." On the journey to the bedroom, he had managed to pull his stitches. "I just can't catch a break."
Time jump:
Olivia woke with a small startle. Her heart beating like a set of drums, back soaked from sweat. Glancing around, she found Barba sleeping beside her. Frowning she looked at his side and scoffed. His side was bleeding very lightly, just enough to spot the sheets. Looking at his work, she shook her head. For a trained agent he sucked at stitching himself up. Looking up at him, she sighed. He really was something special. Glancing at the clock, she had to laugh. 'Just like Rome'. Climbing over him, Olivia straddled his waist. Kissing his neck and biting his collar bone, she began stroking him. Barba groaned in his sleep. Once he was up and alerted, she lifted herself and slid down onto him. She bit down on her lower lip, to keep quiet. As she moved her hips in a slow rhythm, Barba's hands rose to her waist. Looking down at him, he stared back at her with heated and lustful eyes.
"Igual como en Roma." His voice was husky, and fuck that accent drove her insane.
Olivia moaned as he bucked his hips. "Have I told you what a turn-on it is hearing you speak Spanish?"
"Y yo pensando que era otra cosa que vuelve loca." With a grin, he flipped them around. Without a chance for her to recover he continued his rapid pace. The sound of their groans and moans were the only sound in the room. It wasn't long before he had her moaning like some wild animal under him. He came with a loud groan. Dropped her head back on the pillow, Barba rested his on her chest. Running her hand up and down his back, she tried to memorize the feel of his skin. His smell and taste.
Barba flipped around to lay on his back, taking her with him. Settling down on his chest she played with his chest hair. "I-"
"Don't." She whispered. "Please just don't say you're sorry or that you love me. Just lay here with me and hold me. That's all I want right now."
"Okay." And he did. He held her in his arm for the remainder of the night.
Next morning:
By the morning he was gone. Olivia knew it before she opened her eyes. His warmth was gone. She didn't want to open her eyes. She didn't want to admit last night was over. She just wanted to lay there and re-live it all over again. She just wanted to go back in time and prevent any of this from happening. Opening her eyes she frowned, he was gone. Running her hand down her face, she sat up on the bed. Looking around she found nothing, no trace of him ever being in the room with her. Hell, even her clothes were neatly folded on the chair. Olivia reached for her phone, groaning at the seeing it was past 8 am. Sending Fin a text she was running late, she jumped into the shower and got ready for the day.
Barba watched her step out of the building and into her car. He couldn't leave without seeing her once more, but he didn't want to go through the pain of saying goodbye. "How can someone be so radiant?"
"Seriously?" Carmen rolled her eyes. "You made me come pick you up at the crack of dawn, buy you coffee to creep at your girlfriend from across the street."
Barba sighed. "I just needed to make sure she was alright."
"Rafa, I know this is hard but it's only for a while." Carmen stated. "She will be safe. We have men around the clock on her place, Noah's school, and on the both of them. She's one hell of a badass woman. Believe me, she will be fine." Placing a hand on his shoulder, she offered him a small smile. "After all she has survived, this is nothing."
"Lo se." He sighed. "It just doesn't feel right. We should be getting our wedding together, not separated because of this. The organization had-"
"Stop." Carmen snapped. "You knew this would happen. At the end of the day, you knew you would have to decide. You picked Olivia, so now you must deal with this. Just be glad James vouched for you and you aren't being shipped to the other side of the world."
"Let's go." Barba muttered. "James has an update on the ambushers."
"Did you tell her?" She placed the car in drive, making a u-turn towards the main street.
"Tell her what?"
She raised a brow. "That it was Stabler who gave the information? That he was the one to lead them to you? That because of him you were nearly killed while hanging off some chains and naked may I add."
"Oh, that." Barba was scrolling through his phone in boredom. "No, I just told her what happened when she asked about the scar. Didn't give too many details."
"So he gets away with it?" She scoffed.
Barba lowered his phone with an annoyed sigh. "I am not going to be the one to break that friendship up, Stabler will do that all on his own."
"So you aren't going to retaliate?"
"No."
"Can I retaliate?"
"No."
"Why?!"
"If anything happens to that asshole Olivia will get upset." Barba replied. "We have no proof but the words of a beaten and tortured man, saying Stabler gave them our names. Not enough to justify hurting Stabler. Olivia will end up picking his side and discarding whatever ever we might say. So, leave it alone."
"Fine." She gripped the steering wheel while gritting her teeth. "But I got first dibs the moment he gets red-lit."
"As you wish." He chuckled.
