As a group of people passed by, she lost sight of him. Scanning the crowd, she no longer saw him. "Get ahold of yourself, Olivia." Sweeping the crowd once more she walked away with a scoff. "Finally losing that screw."

For the past week, they have been trying to find and catch Lewis once more. He had managed to escape from prison, killing the guard and attempting to rape the nurse at his side. Lewis called her with words of taunt a few hours after his escape. Since that day the department had placed security details on her and the kids. For the moment she had been pushed out of the captain's chair and into the sergeant role.

She jumped at her phone going off. "Benson."

'Janice Cole was killed in her home.'

Olivia bent down laying her head on her arm and sighing. "I'll call Lucy. Give me a few to get there." Lowering her phone, she looked over at her sleeping child. "Another night she will wake up with me gone."

Barba peeked out from the alley and up to the balcony. Releasing a sigh of relief at seeing her gone. He hadn't meant to be caught, but he needed to see her. For the past three years, this was his life. He'd come down here and just stare aimlessly at the balcony. In hopes of catching a glimpse of her. Of his daughter or Noah. The men kept him updated, but it wasn't the same. Growling at the interruption from his phone, he returned to his car.

"What?"

'If you are done with the creeping, come back to the safe house. We have an update on Wheatley. You need to see this.'

"I'm on my way." Casting one last look up, he sped off.

Walking into the safe house that had become his home, he stepped down the stairs. Taking a left on the corner, he pushed the metal door open to the room. It was a basement under the house, they had made it into a makeshift conference room. Stepping into the room he found James and Carmen standing in front of the long table.

"What's going?" Barba was handed a file of photos. "What's this?"

"We have been trailing Wheatley since the attack on you." James began.

Barba raised a brow. "I knew that already."

"Yeah well, a few days ago there was a trial against Wheatley." Carmen stated. "Among the various charges on him that day, the main one they were focusing on was the bombing and death of an NYPD's wife."

Barba pulled a chair back and took a seat. "Will you two just get to the point? Who was the cop?"

"Detective Stabler's wife." Carmen opened a file and handed it to him. "The jury was left in deadlock; therefore, the charges were dropped."

Barba scanned the transcripts in front of him. "Stabler had a relationship with Wheatley's ex-wife?"

James nodded. "Yup turns out Wheatley isn't completely over her. This is where things get somewhat strange, look in the first file I gave you."

Doing so he glared at the photos in front of him. "What the fuck is Wheatley doing with Lewis?! When did he get out?!"

"Lewis escaped on Monday morning after he was transferred to the hospital. It appeared he suffered a seizure and was pronounced dead a few moments later." James explained.

Barba slammed his hand against the photos, sending them flying across the table. "He appeared very much alive in those photos. If he's meeting with Wheatley, they are planning something." He ran a hand through his hair trying to connect the dots. "Does Liv know he escaped?"

Carmen nodded. "He called her from a cellphone." She searched through the files in her hands. "The cell belonged to the nurse that was attending him. He killed an officer in the process and attempted to rape the nurse."

Barba scoffed. "His dick doesn't work anymore. I made sure of that."

"Yeah, but that didn't stop him from using other objects." Carmen cringed at catching a glimpse of the photos she handed him. "She was killed."

Barba refused to look at the pictures. "I need to ensure Liv and the kids are fine. Lewis knows Olivia will look for him, he will taunt her ti-"

"Listen, along with the private detail the NYPD has placed on Olivia and the children, I have ordered six of our men to watch over them." James reassured him. "He won't get his hands on either of them."

"We know Wheatley has it out for Stabler." Carmen redirected them back to the issue at hand. "Lewis is after Olivia." She glanced at Barba from the corner of her eye. "Both Captain Benson and Detective Stabler had been seen close over the past months."

Barba looked up to see Olivia and stabler photographed together. A few of them are at the park with Noah and Anai. In some, he had Anai on his shoulders. Clenching his fist, he turned away with a growl. In trying to do the right thing, he was losing the only three people he cared about. The ones that thought him it was okay to be scared at times. Once again this 'job' has taken everything important to him.

"Our best guess is that Wheatley and Lewis are planning something that will hit them both." Carmen said.

Barba cleared his throat. "I don't care what we do, but I want Wheatley."

"Rafa, I-"

"That son of a bitch thought he could kill me." Barba snapped. "He made Olivia listen to everything he did. I want my payback."

"No promises." James sighed.

"Right-" Carmen frowned at her vibrating phone. "You're on speaker Matt."

'It appears Lewis killed a Janice Cole in her home. Attacked her eldest and took the youngest daughter.'

Carmen sighed heavily. "Is that all?"

'No, we caught the conversation between the eldest daughter Lauren and Captain Benson. Lewis left her a message...Tell the truth or the girl dies.'

"Thank you, Matt.,"

'No-'

"Wait, Matt." Barba yelled over the tired agent. "What is the status of my kids?"

'At the moment we have two agents on each child. Anai Barba is currently being watched by the babysitter Lucy. Noah Benson is at a friend's home, Tyler Garner for a weekend sleepover.'

"Thank you."

Carmen clicked the phone, turning towards the screen. "I have three agents following Wheatley's every move."

"And Lewis?" Barba asked.

James shrugged. "After he met with Wheatley, we lost sight of him."

"Rafa what did Lewis mean by 'tell the truth?'" Carmen asked.

"To keep my involvement with her rescue a secret and her spur-of-the-moment attack on Lewis justified, she lied on the stand and so did I. Olivia stated she attacked Lewis to subdue him and cuff him to the foot of the bed. She denied me being in that house. Denied attacking him after he was cuffed." Barba but his lower lip lost in thought. "She perjured herself in his trial."

"He wants her to confess to everyone." Carmen summarized. "That would include your involvement."

Barba nodded. "I don't care much for that part. To the world, I am dead at the moment. What worries me is the consequences after she confesses."

"If she confesses Olivia runs the risk of retaliation by the organization." James reminded him. "They won't like the idea of her unmasking one of their agents."

"I need to find Lewis." Barba jumped from his seat. "Lewis may be hiding but he isn't going to be too far from Olivia."

"Fine, but try to keep the destruction at a minimum. I don't want a repeat of Rio." James grumbled.

Grabbing his coat and keys, Barba tossed him a look. "The building collapsing was Carmen's fault, not mine."

Olivia:

Walking out of the hospital room she took in a shaky breath. Hearing Lauren repeating everything Lewis did to her in detail had her stomach twisted. This wasn't new to her. She had listened to thousands of victims' stories. But this one was different. This one was her fault.

Amaro watched his partner as she slowly walked toward them. "Liv, you okay?"

She huffed softly. "No."

"Sergeant, can I have a word with you? Just for a moment." Murphy followed her to the side, away from the squad's hearing range. "What exactly did the girl mean when she said, 'Lewis wants you to tell the truth?" He noticed the hesitation in her as she took a step back. "This is just between you and me. I give you my word."

Olivia battled with herself for a moment. "During the trial, I testified that I beat Lewis with a metal bar." She walked around to face him. "Fracturing his skull, shattering his kneecap."

"I remember reading something about that." Murphy muttered.

"I told the jury that he had gotten out of his cuffs and had lunged at me."

"You lied."

"He was cuffed. Incapacitated." Murphy sighed. "You should've killed him when you had the chance."

"That isn't all." Olivia said.

Murphy chuckled with a scoff. "There's more?"

Leaning closer to him, she scanned the area around them. "Rafael Barba was in the beach house. He was the one that handcuffed Lewis. Rafael made up the story that, to protect me and himself."

"Rafael Barba?" Murphy frowned. "Your dead ADA?"

She refused to answer that. "There's press downstairs. I am going to make a statement."

Murphy fast-walked blocking her from leaving. "Absolutely not."

"He has a little girl."

"If you give him what he wants, he just might kill the girl anyway." Murphy was aware of just how stubborn Benson could be. "He's doing this for you. While he's waiting for you to move, he won't move. This is when we hunt him down."

Barba:

Peeping out of the motel room, he glanced both ways. Finding it empty he quickly exited the room, running down the stairs he walked out into the alley. Unlocking his car parked across from him, Barba popped the trunk open. Pulling out a clean black button-down shirt, he tossed the bloody one into the dumpster. Putting his phone on speaker he called carmen.

'Anything?'

"No, this idiot has no clue where Lewis is." Unbuttoning his pants, he tucked his shirt in. "Anything on your front?"

'None. Wheatley hasn't made any attempt in contacting Lewis.'

"He's waiting for something."

'What do you mean?'

"Lewis although it appears he's acting in the spur of the moment, usually has a plan sorted out." Slipping his blazer on, he shut the trunk and slipped into the car. "I am heading to the next known associate of Lewis."

'Copy that, let-ho-hold on!' Carmen yelped. 'Lewis is calling the hotline.'

"Can you patch me in?"

'Not if you want them to know we are tapped into their phones.'

"Right. Keep me posted." Hanging up the phone, he held the phone in his clenched hand. "Son of a bitch is screwing with Olivia." Taking a few deep breaths, he turned the ignition on and sped out of the alley.

Olivia:

"Does Lewis have any known associates in the east 50s?"

Liv shook her head. "It's unlikely that he met anybody in prison on the upper east si-no."

"Benson?" Murphy saw the blood drain from her face. Her eyes became a hollow abyss. "Sergeant, what is it?"

"No-Noah." Benson gasped.

"Your kid?" Murphy was at a loss.

Scurrying for the phone, she frantically dialed the number. "Please pick up. Please pick up."

"Seargent Benson!" Murphy yelled. "What does your kid have to do with this?"

"He's at a sleepover with the Garner family." Seeing the confused look on him, she growled. "They live on 50th street!"

While she worked on getting ahold of the family, Murphy called Fin to hurry their asses up. "Move it, detectives!"

Hearing the line pick up, she nearly gasped out loud. Until she heard his voice.

"Olivia. You found me."

"I did." Covering her mouth with her hand, she closed her eyes. "He has nothing to do with this. Let him go."

"It's always about the kids with you." Lewis chuckled. "Oh, hang on. I have someone that wants to say hi."

'Mom?'

"Noah!" Olivia released the gasp of breath she was holding. "Are you hurt?"

'N-no.'

"That's good baby."

'There you can't say I'm such a bad guy.' Lewis laughed. 'Little boys aren't really my cup of tea, but for you, I would make an exception.'

"Don't touch them." She was fighting to remain calm. Her instincts were screaming for her to lash out. To threaten him for even speaking of her son.

'Shame Rafael is dead. I had a score to settle with him. But I heard he suffered to the very end. You were made to listen as he drew in every agonizing breath. If you'd like I can always send you a copy of his last moments.'

She winced at hearing his words. "Don't hurt them. Promise me you won't and I will say whatever you want to hear."

'What I want to hear, huh? You mean the truth?'

"Yes." She whispered. "The truth."

'I cannot wait to see that beautiful face on the 6 o'clock news.'

Barba:

Pulling up to his next appointment Rafael stepped out of the car, just as his phone went off. "What is it, Carmen?"

'Lewis has Noah.'
