My Hero

Chapter 2

By That One Fuzzie Guy

Toshinori Yagi was walking towards his apartment reminiscing about the boy he met earlier. Izuku Midoriya...? I just hope he can accept the responsibility. I see so much of you in him, Nana. I know you'd be happy to meet him. He'll be a great Ninth.

Izuku woke up this morning preparing himself for All Might's training. To say he was excited was putting it lightly. He was practically shaking in his seat once he came downstairs for breakfast.

So excited in fact in fact that he began his muttering spree, all about what All Might would be putting him through, and the schedule he'd come up with. His muttering was basically the norm in the Midoriya household. Shortly after Izuku started his notebook series it had just become normal to hear him mutter 24/7.

Although when eating, it was kind of a nuisance.

"Izuku, honey, you're doing that again."

His face flushed. "O-Oh? I am, sorry I guess." Izuku sheepishly apologized and averted his gaze from his mother.

Inko serves Izuku his scrambled eggs and Izuku gulps down his food without a second thought. Not willing to waste a single second for his big day, he quickly got out of his seat and into his room to brush his teeth.

Once he finished he walked out of the bathroom and into the door hall where his mother was waiting.

"Izuku," Inko calls for him and he stops mid-step.

"Yes?"

"Good luck." Inko gives Izuku a reassuring smile and Izuku gives her a final hug and leaves.

"Thanks, mom."

Without any hesitation, he walked out of the door and started to jog his way to Dagobah Beach, hoping whatever All Might would put him through wouldn't be too merciless.

It took a few detours but he had finally arrived at his destination.

"Hello, Young Midoriya."

"Hello, All Might Sensei!"

"I see you're excited. Well, I can't blame you," The pro laughed, "I'm sure you're curious about what type of training we'll be doing." Izuku nods. "First we'll try and build up a decent amount of muscle. I've created this training regimen strictly for you. We will continue this for five months."

Izuku's face shifts from curiosity to dread in nanoseconds. "Woah! This is brutal. Isn't this a little bit extreme for my age?"

"It would be for anyone who hasn't trained their body since kindergarten".

"A-All Might-sensei, you know it wasn't that early. It was mostly when I was in Middle school-"

All Might interrupted him with a laugh. "Yes, yes! Enough with the semantics, let's get on with your training."

Having no time to process it, Izuku was already instructed to do a few hundred push-ups. "I wouldn't exactly say I'm comfortable with doing that many, but I guess a hero has to overcome any and all obstacles right?"

"Precisely! Now, start doing those push-ups Young Midoriya! We're running on a schedule here!"

He nodded and got into position, already doing a few reps. "Yes sensei!"

And so began what Izuku would dub, his five months of hell.

If Izuku Midoriya had one thing to compare his training to, he would say it was excruciating, but at least manageable. This was his mindset at least a few months before his training with All Might. His five-month-long training made his previous one look like a walk in the park.

It was brutal, but he somehow found the courage to endure it, if only slightly. Every day he felt like his arms would fall off, or how his legs would collapse. The only thing he found non-excruciating was the run easily since that was part of his aerobic exercises.

But, as the weeks went by he started to show signs of improvements. He familiarized himself with the pain. His mother also agreed to the new diet All Might suggest for him.

To say Izuku impressed All Might was an understatement. He stopped throwing up after the first month. Honestly, Izuku could only blame it on the fact he did this type of training for nearly several years. All Might heavily underestimated how fast the human body or in this case, Izuku's body would grow.

Eventually, All Might had to up the ante a little bit to make sure he was getting every ounce of potential out of Izuku, but his improvements didn't stop. He excelled in his physical tests at school and generally found himself with more energy each passing day. He could finally say all of his labor and hard work was paying off.

And of course, there were the weekends. The days Izuku was allowed to rest or complete any homework he missed. Basically his make-up week for any activities or hobbies he missed while training his ass off.

Currently, it was a Friday afternoon. He had just gotten out of school and was walking down the street. Despite not looking like it, he always enjoyed reading either SHONEN Jump or some Barrage, from his favorite author Kohei Horikoshi. On his way out of the manga section to the cashier, he ran into a girl.

She looked to be from America given her looks but something about her let her blend in with the crowd.

"Oh, I'm sorry, didn't mean to run into you there. Let me help you with that." The girl offered assistance to him. From what Izuku could conclude, she seemed cute, although, that wasn't important at the moment. "Hey, are you alright? Your face is really red. Do you have a fever or something?" She said.

"Huh?!" Izuku stammered and came out of his daze. "O-Oh!" The red on his face deepened. "I-I'm fine, it's just that I get n-nervous around p-people." In his gaze, he accidentally took a brief look at her, specifically her upper body. "S-Specifically g-girls!" His face was starting to turn scarlet at this point.

"I see? So you're the shy type, huh?" She smiled at him, with the blush on his face going down ever so slightly. "It's fine. I consider myself nervous sometimes. I can't really blame you." Upon closer inspection of him, she noticed the various types of comics he was holding. "Woah! You sure love your seinen and shounen, don't you?"

"Y-You mean these?" She nodded. "W-Well, I kind of like shounen for its stories on heroes." He scratched his bushy hair. "I guess I don't mind seinen either, as long as it's good."

The girl giggled, "Is that Chainsaw Man? I really love that series. You have extremely good taste!" She paused. "Oh! How rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself." She coughed. "I'm Melissa Shield, nice to meet you."

The air around Izuku's face might've gone up a few degrees but he ignored that. "It's fine. I-I'm Midoriya Izuku, likewise."

"Hey, now that we introduced ourselves we might as well exchange contact information right?"

Izuku froze. "Really?!"

Melissa beamed at him. "Yeah! Get to know each other. We have similar tastes in comics as well." She broke out a pen from her pocket and took out a piece of paper from her purse. "Here's my number!"

This is kind of sudden... But I don't really have a reason to turn her down. He exchanged contact information with her as well and they said their goodbyes.

While Izuku was walking back to his house he thought about Melissa. She's strange but, I think we'll become good friends maybe.

He smiled throughout his entire trip home.

After his brief day off, it was time for Iziuku to get back to work.

"Work" as in continuously destroying his muscle fibers in order to grow stronger. Again, not something he'd considered pleasant. And just when he was finally getting used to his schedule, All Might had to up the ante again.

Izuku swore All Might was enjoying this, although it was a hunch.

"Hello Young Midoriya, I see you're working hard as usual."

Izuku sighed as he got up from his push-ups. And speak of the devil. "Hello, All Might-sensei. Back from hero work?"Izuku asks curiously as to if he could be here to train him.

All Might simply kept his smile on his face and nodded. "Why yes Young Midoriya. How's your training goin-" All Might's speech came to a hault as he felt a pain in his side. Shit, not now! Why does this have to happen now?

"All Might Sensei, are you alright?! You're erupting steam-" Izuku couldn't even finish his sentence as he was then staring at what seemed like a living skeleton coated with skin.

"Aaah! Where did All Might go?!" Izuku panicked.

"Young Midoriya, I am All Might- Blegh!" All Might then proceeds to vomit out blood.

"A-all Might, are you okay?!" Izuku reaches for a napkin and hands it out to All Might. Concern was written all over his face. Just how the hell this was All Might? He's the polar opposite of what All Might should be. He's skinny, doesn't seem to have much muscle mass, no booming voice, and on top of that, he looks like a living skeleton whose skin and flesh didn't rot away.

The pro sighed. "Thanks for the napkin." He wiped the blood off of his mouth. "Sorry for hiding this form from you. I kind of wanted to avoid showing you this for a while, but I guess I just pushed myself too hard today."

"Pushed yourself, w-what do you mean-" Before Izuku could even finish his sentence, All Might lifted up his shirt to show a gut-wrenching scar. "W-Who did this to you?!"

All Might sighed again. "If I were to just only explain how I received this injury, you'll only start asking me questions, so I'll just summarize everything." He finished wiping the blood off of his mouth and tossed the napkin into the trash. "Basically, a century or so ago, a despicable man could steal quirks and give away quirks."

Izuku's face went pale. "H-He could steal meta abilities?"

All Might nodded. "Yeah, it made him quite the opponent to deal with as well. He had a little brother to which he passed a power stocking quirk on. Apparently, it was believed that he was quirkless at the time, but he had a hidden quirk, a quirk that could pass on quirks, or that's what my master said I believe."

Izuku blinked rapidly to keep up with the massive influx of information. "That explains how he could do that," He glanced over at the injured pro's side. "To you." He spoke again, "Anyways, his brother seems to have a fascinating quirk, I'll ask about that later maybe." All Might deadpanned at him. "O-Okay, maybe not..."

All Might just chuckled at him. "Anyways, back to the story. Basically, the power stocking quirk merged with his to create a new quirk known as One For All. That is what my quirk is."

Izuku gasped. "You mean to tell me the power you use isn't your quirk?"

All Might nodded. "Essentially yes, although, the power differs from user to user, so it can be considered to be mine in some way." He paused. "I understand this is a lot to take in, but please don't go telling anybody about this secret on the internet forums and whatnot. Only a select amount of people know about my predicament. and now that includes you."

"I swear I won't tattle to anyone about this. Your secret is safe with me." Izuku gives All Might an assuring smile.

All Might smiled. "Good! Now back to training Young Midoriya!"

Izuku yelped. "Yes sensei!"

All Might smiled as he watched his soon to be successor train his guts out on the beach's floor. I'm sure you'd be proud Nana! He has the heart of a hero. He'll be a great ninth user!

Eventually, Izuku finished his five-month training. At the end of it, he was considerably more buff and had the athletic ability to back it up.

"I'm proud of you, Young Midoriya. I had no idea you could surpass my expectations so quickly. I have no doubt you'll get into U.A, one way or another."

"I couldn't have done it without you, sensei. If it wasn't for your guidance, I probably wouldn't have the results I have now." Izuku stared down at the ground with a sigh.

"Nonsense! All this was you, Young Midoriya. I only gave you the training regimen. You yourself did it and even made me adjust the regime so we could bring out every ounce of physical ability in you."

"I guess so." He paused for a moment before turning his head towards his trainer. "Sensei?" Izuku then had a question.

"Is there some you'd like to ask me, Young Midoriya?"

"Now that I completed your training what do I do now? I still have several years until I have a chance with U.A?

All Might didn't expect Izuku to be so front about it. The training regimen worked better than I thought it would, so now would be a good time...

"Young Midoriya, why do you want to be a hero?" All Might asks in a serious tone that makes Izuku freeze momentarily.

"To save people while giving them a smile. I don't want to be a hero for fame, glory, or money, I just simply want to make people feel at ease when they hear my name."

All Might grinned. "Currently, I am the eighth user of One for All. It's an amazing power to obtain but with it eventually comes a moment to where the user will have to face some sort of opponent. This was the fate of my master, Nana Shimura."

Izuku's brain took several seconds to catch up with what he just heard and still couldn't believe it. He was even more confused when All Might started again.

"I see so many of her morals in you, Young Midoriya, it makes me think you're related." Toshinori chuckled but then objected. "Wait, you never had a Shimura in your family line, did you?"

Izuku laughed. "I'm pretty sure that my mother's last name wasn't Shimura before she married my dad, so no." He then returned back to the main subject. "So, why are we talking about One for All again?"

All Might smiled again. "Originally, I was in Musutafu to search for a successor, since I can pass down my power. I heard there was a second-year at U.A who had some decent experience and a good quirk. He was actually going to become the successor of One for All until I met you."

Then the gears started turning in Izuku's head. He can't be referring to me, can he?

All Might started to speak again, "I'm sure you must've guessed the implications of what I just said, but in case it flew over your head, I'll make it obvious." The pro clenched his fists, and a power that Izuku could only dream of seemed to be within his reach this very moment.

A quirk.

"Izuku!" His mentor yelled out. "Will you be my successor?"

Izuku didn't know why All Might chose him. He didn't know why he thought him being a good samaritan was a good enough reason to train him. Hell, there were a lot of things he didn't understand, but the one thing he did understand is if he was meant to be the hero All Might expected him to be.

"Yes, Sensei!" Izuku exclaimed with tears gushing down his face. "I accept!" Izuku was always put down for being quirkless. He stopped trying to find a hidden quirk at the age of five. Anyone who knew him for more than five minutes would figure out he's quirkless. Now he actually had the opportunity to inherit one of the most powerful quirks in existence.

Izuku fell to the ground clenching the middle of his jumpsuit and cried even more. All Might didn't know if the tears he was shedding was a hidden quirk. "Midoriya, my boy, stop with the waterworks. Are you ready to inherit the power?"

"Sorry about that, it kind of runs in the family." Izuku chuckled and finished emptying his tear glands. "Of course. How do I acquire it?" All Might proceeded to pluck out one of his hairs.

"You eat this!" All Might transformed into his muscular state and explained in a tone that seemed like he did this on a regular basis. The silence was the only way to describe the situation for a few seconds.

"Eh?" Izuku deadpanned at All Might before his expression changed from confusion to horror. "Isn't there another way to inherit it or something?! I'm pretty sure there's other ways. There's no way eight people were actually willing to eat someone's hair."

"That's true Young Midoriya," All Might started to explain. "This power can be acquired only if you receive part of my DNA. It doesn't have to be hair but it can be other stuff." All Might's face shifted from his usual smile to a mischievous grin. "Actually..."

Why don't I like where this is going?

"While most users actually passed One for All on by either eating hair or receiving some sort of hair of DNA, the 1st and 2nd user actually passed it on by other means. And that was in bed."

The color on Izuku's face was something that All Might would enjoy for years to come. "Your face is priceless Young Midoriya!" He laughed for several seconds before stopping. "But anyway, aside from that, this is one of the only ways to take the power unless you want to eat something that's virtually inedible."

"But hair is inedible!" He could've sworn his statement just went over his mentor's head.

"Anyways, hurry up and eat it. If you want the power this is the best way to obtain it!" Izuku took a long gulp before eating the hair and did another gulp to digest it.

"I can still taste it. Disgusting." Izuku paused trying to get used to the after taste and was then confused. "I don't feel anything, did I get the power?"

All Might then proceeds to chuckle. "It takes a while to manifest into your DNA my boy. It should take about several hours. In the meantime, you're free to do whatever you want for the day."

"Alright then, goodbye All Might Sensei."

"And Young Midoriya, my name is Toshinori Yagi." All Might gives a comforting smile to Izuku to which Izuku returns.

"Goodbye, Yagi Sensei."

Maybe he could get his mother to make some type of katsudon to wash this obnoxious taste in his mouth?

Once Izuku got back to his house he decided to contact the girl he met a few weeks ago. Melissa Shield was it? He vividly remembered how cute she was, not the sexy type of cute, the type of cute that's comforting and gentle. So he gave her a call.

"This is Melissa Shield hello?"

"It's Midoriya, I thought I'd give you a call since I just got finished training with my Sensei."

"Oh, hello Midoriya, I suppose it's been a while since we've talked."

"Yeah..."

Neither of them knew what to say. The silence was so abundant you could hear a 100 yen coin drop on the other side of Japan.

"So, do you want to hang out with me? I could come over to your place and we can read some comics or have some lunch."

"Ok, just give me the street you live on and I'll be over in a flash."

Izuku could swear he heard Melissa giggling in the background. Then she gave him the location of her house.

Izuku changed out of his green jumpsuit and into navy blue sweatpants and a red leather jacket with a white t-shirt under it. Of course, he was sporting his signature red shoes.

"Mom, I'm heading out," Izuku exclaims with a slight smirk and blush on his face.

"Ok honey, just make sure to introduce her to me." Inko starts chuckling at him.

Izuku's face flushes into a deep crimson. "Mom! How'd you even know?!"

"You had a grin on your face and your cheeks were a little bit pink, other than that it's just motherly intuition dear."

"I swear it's not like that. I only met her when I went shopping for some manga." Izuku reassured her. "Hell, I only met her one time and that was because we bumped into each other at the comic store."

Inko gave Izuku the biggest shit-eating grin he's ever seen. "Ok Izu-Kun."

Izuku sighs and once Inko is finished teasing him he packs his stuff and leaves the house.

Once at the location he finds himself staring at an expensive-looking apartment complex. She's in Room 10-A, right. Izuku then walks up to the room and knocks on the door and is greeted by Melissa.

"Hello Midoriya, didn't expect you to come over so soon."

"I sort of jogged on my way here."

"But the trip from your block to mine is 5 km!" Just what type of training does he do?

"Oh really? I just thought I'd get in some exercise on the way here. Can I come in?"

"Yes, of course." Melissa invites Izuku into her apartment.

"You have a nice place I see, where are your parents? I was expecting to get chewed out by your father." Izuku chuckled nervously.

"I live alone," Melissa states in a nonchalant way.

"Oh, is your father overseas, or does he work far away?" Izuku asks in a curious tone.

"He's on I-Island. He's busy inventing things. He sends me money so I can pay the rent and live."

"And your mother?"

"She passed away when I was just a little kid..."

"Oh, I didn't realize, sorry." Izuku's facial expression shifts from curiosity to an empathetic gaze.

"It's fine, I just don't have many memories of her, only with my father, she died when I was only three years old." Melissa pauses. "So, what were you busy doing for a whole month? You never exactly called me." Melissa states in an adorable pout.

Izuku is caught off guard. Cute! "W-Well I was busy training to get into U.A. I only do training in terms of muscle building due to my quirk requiring it." Izuku looked calm on the outside but on the inside, he was sweating bullets and trying not to turn into a literal tomato.

"Ok then, what's your quirk?" Melissa asks in a teasing tone. If the previous question didn't have Izuku blushing this one flushed his face into a furious scarlet.

"M-my quirk? It's called…" Melissa then proceeds to invade his personal pace waiting for an answer. "My q-quirk is called stockpile. It has the ability to stockpile power. Meaning as time goes on it grows more powerful the more I work with it. It requires a lot of physical ability to use it though."

"Interesting, can you demonstrate it for me?"

Shit, I don't even know how to use it, I'm so boned. "I-It's a little a bit destructive so not now." Izuku somehow gets even more red in the face.

"I'm just kidding! Geez, you're so easy to tease it's hilarious." Melissa explains while laughing, her face flushed a little bit.

"It's not funny..." Izuku deadpans at her, blush still present.

"Oh, it is." Melissa waits for herself to stop laughing and eventually calms down.

"Do you want to read some manga with me?." Melissa shows three different series' for Izuku to choose from.

"O-Oh, how about Black Clover, or Fire Force, I haven't finished reading Volume 4 of Black Clover and Volume 2 of Fire Force yet."

"Sure Midoriya."

Both Izuku and Melissa can be heard laughing after finishing one of the chapters. After finishing a questioning conversation about who the main protagonist of both books should end up with romance wise. They decided to get to know each other more.

"So, Midoriya." Izuku turns towards Melissa all ears. "What's your career choice?"

Izuku thought for a moment. "I want to become a hero to help anyone in need. Honestly, no one ever came to help me when I was a kid in terms of my dream of being a hero. I was a late bloomer." Izuku averts his gaze for a bit. "But I've always had people who always used to support me in life. It's why I started to train for U.A." Izuku pauses. "I only got my quirk five months ago, which is why I have to work harder than anyone else when it comes to mastering it!" Izuku then gave Melissa a smile which nearly made her heart jump out of her chest.

Melissa took a moment to process just how much of a cinnamon roll Izuku looked like now. "That's quite the future occupation you have there," Melissa replied, face flushed. "Honestly, I'm quirkless so I can understand your pain, but in all honesty, I wish to help people with my inventions like my father. He's my inspiration, who was your's?"

"All Might, not because of the reason you may think. Do you remember that slime villain attack a few months ago?" Melissa flinches at the mention of All Might but nods. "I was his first victim, All Might managed to save me but then I asked him a question." Izuku then remembers the memory and his face turns serious. "I asked him if I could be a hero even though I'm quirkless. He didn't like the idea at first, but then I mentioned how I trained every day and it changed his mind." Izuku then remembers the very words he spoke. Young man, you can be a hero! "He said I could be a hero."

This left Melissa shocked. Uncle Might himself said he could be a hero, despite him being... quirkless? She thought. "I didn't know you knew All Might. He and my dad used to work together in the states"

"Really? I had no idea. How could I not know All Might worked with someone in terms of hero work? I know he had a sidekick called Sir Night Eye but he actually had a partner? I must research this-" Izuku stopped his mumbling once Melissa tapped his shoulder.

"Ahhhh!" Izuku screams due to the jumpscare. "Sorry, about that, it's a bad habit." Izuku then proceeds to recollect his thoughts. "Does that mean you're in contact with All Might Melissa?"

"Yes, we sometimes talk to each other on the phone. He's kind of like an uncle to me so I call him Uncle Might."

"W-well isn't that a coincidence?" Izuku starts chuckling nervously. I wonder if she knows about One For All?

"I'm actually trying to invent a device that improves his quirk. His power's been declining lately due to an accident-" Melissa doesn't finish the sentence as she covers her mouth. "Forget you heard anything!"

"I-it's alright. I actually know about his predicament." Izuku smiles nervously and averts his gaze. "I presume you know about One For All as well?"

"How do you know about that" Melissa responds in a serious and concerned tone.

Guess I have no reason to lie about my quirk. "Actually, he chose me..." Izuku pauses.

"What do you mean, 'he chose you'? For what-" Melissa freezes. "You mean...?"

"Yeah... You're looking at the Ninth..."

Melissa stares at Izuku for several minutes before she speaks anything. "So he chose you as his successor?" Izuku nods. "That's a lot of responsibility..."

"I know it's a lot to place on my shoulders, but it just supports the fact that I have to work harder than anyone else to achieve my dream!" Izuku responds with a fiery determination present in his eyes.

"You know, I don't doubt at all you'll be the next Number One at Midoriya." Melissa gives Izuku a heartwarming smile which makes him create an ugly face.

So bright! Izuku thinks and clenches his face into a happy cringe.

"Are you okay, your face is so ugly now?!" Melissa asks while laughing.

"I-I'm fine, it's just that your smile was too b-bright." Melissa's face then turned into a bright pink. Completely flushed she started laughing.

They end up talking for a few more minutes before Izuku tells her he has to go test out his new power. "You should expect some backlash when you first use One For All. Uncle Might mentioned to me how he sprained a muscle when he first used it."

"Right!" Izuku exclaims before saying goodbye to Melissa. "It was nice meeting you again Melissa, I'm glad we met each other." Izuku proceeded to give her a smile which made her heart flutter.

"It was, no problem, Izuku." Before she realized she said his first name it was already too late. She and Izuku turned into a blushing mess.

"U-uhh, right, see you later then." Izuku leaves the apartment.

Meanwhile, Melissa was contemplating in her head. He was so gentle and kind, and that smile… He's kind of cute- She didn't let herself finish that thought as she slapped herself. You can't develop feelings for someone you've basically just met! Oh, how the universe was eager to prove her wrong.

Izuku was jogging all the way back to Dagobah beach in hopes of trying to find All Might. Surely Yagi Sensei should be around here, he always likes to look at the sunset. Izuku finds All Might sitting on a bench enjoying the view.

"Yagi Sensei!" Izuku yells out.

"Young Midoriya- Blegh!" Toshinori vomits blood.

"Here's a napkin." After an extensive coughing session, Izuku explains to him why he's here. "Several hours passed and I don't know if my quirk has manifested yet."

"Oh, it probably manifested already, you just need to summon its power."

"How? Do I need to visualize it enhancing one of my body parts, or just imagine me using it? Should I try sensing it? There are so many options what should I pick-"

Yagi deadpans at him and starts to get creeped out by his mumbling. "Stop Nerding Out!"

"Sorry, that runs in my family too." Izuku chuckles.

"To summon One For All, clench your butt cheeks and prepare to throw a punch, then yell Smash. As time goes on you'll find it as second nature and won't even need to perform this. It's how I used One For All in the beginning." Izuku nearly choked on his saliva at the explanation.

"Are you serious?! That's so corny!" Izuku started laughing.

"I'm quite serious, Young Midoriya, give it a shot and once you feel it, focus that power into a fist."

Izuku does what his teacher tells him to do and clenches his butt cheeks and yells Smash. He activates the power and focuses it into his arm then releases a punch. The blow was so powerful it split the ocean and left a shockwave that could be felt in a 1-kilometer radius. It wasn't as powerful as All Might's Smashes, but it was strong enough to give him a run for his money.

Izuku would've congratulated himself if he didn't feel a searing pain in his arm and immediately fall to the ground, clenching his right arm. "Young Midoriya!" All Might saw how serious the situation got and transformed into his muscle form, and picked him up in bridal style.

The last thing Izuku remembers was using One For All and feeling a hot searing pain in his arm. He wakes up in a hospital bed being monitored by an elderly woman, All Might, and a bear, mouse hybrid.

"Where am I?" Izuku asks the people in front of him.

"You're at U.A for treatment of your arm. You used One For All for the first time and it completely shattered it, thankfully it's nothing I couldn't fix." The elderly woman responded.

Izuku tensed at the mentioning of One For All. "Don't worry, everyone in the room knows about your quirk." The mouse bear hybrid reassured him and Izuku relaxed.

"Honestly, Toshinori you should've known his quirk would injure him this badly." The short elderly woman known as Recovery Girl scolded Toshinori and hit him on the head with her syringe cane.

"But I didn't think the backlash would be this great, honestly, the worst I ever got was some broken skin or a sprained muscle."

"Yes but the version of One For All Midoriya has here is much more powerful than yours thanks to the stockpiling effect of One For All." The mouse bear hybrid commented.

"Right." Toshinori accepted defeat.

"I don't mean to interrupt but, how do I control it?"

Everyone in the room turned towards him with first All Might answering. "First, you should try and focus on limiting the power so it doesn't hurt your body."

"But how do I do that?" Izuku asks with curiosity in his eyes.

"May I present a solution?" The mouse bear hybrid commentates.

"You must be the principal of the school, Nedzu right?"

"Yes, I'm the principal of this school. I've known Toshinori for quite a while. When he approached me stating that he had a potential successor I was quite interested. I honestly didn't expect the drawback on One For All to be this great either even with the stockpiling effect, but if you can create a visualization of the power, let's say an egg in the microwave, where the temperature is the percentage, you should be able to control the power."

A visualization where an egg is in the microwave and the temperature is the percentage? "That seems plausible, am I ready to be released now?" Izuku asked politely.

"No, the way my quirk works is that it speeds up your bodily recovery, but it takes a lot of energy due to speeding up your body's healing factor. So you won't be able to move properly at least for another hour.

"Ok…" Izuku sighs in defeat.

"But don't worry, we'll be helping you control your new power. We'll be arranging some of our teachers to help you." Nedzu gives him a reassuring smile.

"And if you'd like, we can get you into U.A via recommendations, instead of entrance exams."

"That's not necessary. Taking the entrance is fine with me. Honestly, I'd rather earn my place at U.A instead of getting in through recommendations. It just doesn't seem fair to me."

Everyone was surprised when Izuku stated this. Blessed with one of the most powerful quirks in existence, to hopefully become the next Symbol of Peace, and yet he doesn't see the benefit in taking the easy way out.

He's just like Toshnori. Recovery Girl thought.

"I see you've found a wonderful successor Toshinori." Nedzu compliments and Toshinori nods.

"You never cease to surprise me Midoriya my boy, if that's what you want then we'll arrange it."

An hour later, Izuku was walking down the street after being discharged from U.A's nursery. He was replaying the conversation he had with Nedzu and Toshinori about controlling his power.

Imagine the microwave? How does that even work? I guess I'll just have to test out the power for myself. So Izuku went to Dagobah to hopefully test out the power regulation method on his quirk.

"Imagine the microwave and the egg not exploding. Turn down the heat which represents the percentage." Izuku activated One For All and put the visualization to the test. "15% should be enough."

"SMAAASH!" He threw a punch. The punch generated great wind pressure but it wasn't as powerful as before.

"I did it!? Did I control One For All? I know that Smash connected!" Izuku checked his arm and to his surprise, he found no damage at all. The only thing he saw was the red lines of electricity fading.

Izuku started to experiment with the power, this time he channeled One For All into his legs and leaped 10 meters into the air. "SMAAASH!" He launched a One For All empowered kick at the ocean. While still not being as powerful as the 100% version, it still managed to create a gust of air pressure which split the water into two sections.

Let's see how far I can go! Let's try 20% now! Izuku then powers up to 20% and immediately feels the strain it places on his body. "It's like my upper body is on the verge of breaking, but I can still handle it!" Izuku proceeds to launch another punch and concentrates all of his power into his arm this time.

"DETROIT-" Izuku lunges his arm back to prepare a punch. "SMAAASH!" It still wasn't comparable to a 100% Smash, but it was much greater than his lower limit of 15%. It blew back everything in a five-meter radius and split the ocean even more than before

Izuku's arm was sore, but it wasn't broken or fractured. Mom will be overjoyed that I have a quirk. I'll have to explain to her how I got the power though. I'll text All Might and tell him to come over and explain the truth about One For All. Honestly, I still can't believe the Number One hero chose me, a plain, average, quirkless middle schooler to inherit one of the most powerful quirks in existence. But it just means I have to work harder than anyone else to catch up. Everyone has had their quirks for most of their lives. I've only had it for several hours and have only two years to grow accustomed to it. "Sensei, I won't disappoint you!" Izuku grew a determined smile on his face and headed towards his house.

Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched. "So this is what that damn nerd's been up too? When the hell did he get a quirk? Has he been hiding it from me?" I'll find out one way or another. Just what the hell have you been doing Izuku?

Author's notes: And that concludes Chapter 2 of My Hero. Yes, I know I just released the first chapter but honestly I'm pretty efficient when it comes to my writing. As you can tell this is where the story starts to diverge from the canon story. I have so many more ideas I'd like to share with you all and I hope you'll enjoy them. Make sure to follow if you wish to stay updated with the story. If you enjoyed the story please give it a favorite as well. Thank you for reading!
