Chapter Sixty-Nine: How Country Feels
Kimi's POV
"Okay, so where are we going?" I asked Yuki, by the looks of it, Haruhi and Reiko were wondering the same thing.
"Since Sumi and I got here earlier than you guys did, we got to explore a little and we came across this interesting little dive."
"What's a dive?" I asked her confused.
"It's an informal, relaxed, 'neighborhood' bar or restaurant." Reiko answered, "Restaurant or bar?"
"Little of both." Yuki shrugged.
"How's the food?" Reiko asked.
"Good American southern comfort food." Yuki smirked.
"Start naming." Reiko challenged.
"Chili, chicken pot pie, pecan pie, peach cobbler, chicken fried steak, strawberry shortcake, fried chicken, meat and potatoes, fried pork chops, beef stew." Yuki listed, "Reiko, I could go at this all night, I know my southern comfort food."
"How do you know about American comfort food?"
"There are privileges to being me." She smiled, "But the food's not the only reason I'm taking you here." She told us as we walked in, "That is." She pointed to a machine with a saddle on it.
"Um, Yuki-Senpai..." Haruhi started confused.
"What the hell is that?" I asked her, staring at it.
"That, my friends, is a mechanical bull." Yuki replied, "That is something the guys would never let near or even want us to even think of trying."
"I want on it!" Reiko exclaimed, "How much do I have to pay to get on that thing?"
"Nothing, for your meal and for the ride, if you can stay on it." The host said, coming over to us, "If you can't, then it's 500 yen for the ride and then you'd have to pay for your meal."
"Can you give us a minute to think it over?" Yuki asked him.
"Sure." He smiled, "If you lovely ladies have any questions, my name's Beau, just give me a holler."
"Okay." We smiled as he left. He was good looking. He was practically as good looking as the guys.
"I say we go for it." I told them.
"I want on that thing." Reiko stated.
"I could go for another go at it." Yuki smirked.
"You've actually been on it?" I asked her.
She nodded, "Yeah." She looked to Haruhi, "You up for it?"
"For a free meal?" She nodded, "Yeah."
We called Beau back over and told him we were gonna do it. Long story short, Haruhi and I got thrown off a few minutes in, Reiko managed to stay on and Yuki, not only stayed on, she convinced Beau to let her on two more times for us, which she easily did.
"You've ridden these before, haven't you?" Haruhi asked her, while we were eating.
She nodded, smiling, "I dated a cowboy for a while."
"So let's see, so far you've dated a cowboy, two musicians-" I listed.
"Two racers, a waiter, a surfer, and an actor." Reiko added.
"And you're dating Kyoya-Senpai?" Haruhi asked, confused, "That's an interesting change of pace."
"Not exactly, he's just a different version of exciting." She replied.
"Safe and boring?" I asked.
"Evil?" Haruhi asked.
"Greedy?" Reiko asked.
Yuki just smiled and shook her head, before continuing to eat. We ended up changing the conversation, and after we were done eating we headed back, we had to get up early tomorrow, we couldn't afford to stay out late.
When we got back Wizard of Oz was playing on TV, Haruhi and I sat down and watched it. Reiko went back to her room with Yuki to work on wedding stuff. Really all we knew about it were the flowers, the invitations, that most of Reiko's family wasn't going to be there, most of them living overseas, and the venue that Hunny's mother suggested, Reiko wanted a small ceremony, Hunny didn't care where it was, he just wants to marry her, for all he cared it could be done in court and gotten over with, he wanted to marry her, he was only doing the wedding because Reiko did want a ceremony. His mother wanted a bigger ceremony than Reiko did though, she never had any girls and Reiko has a hard time saying no when she needs to. Yuki, Sumi, Haruhi, and I were all in the wedding party, the guys too. We were all asked after Hunny proposed. Yuki was made maid of honor because she set them up. Mori was the best man because he's well Mori. There isn't much to explain on that one.
Yuki's POV
"But this isn't about her; this is about you and Hunny." I told her for the fifth time, "What do you guys want?"
"I want small, nonreligious, outdoors."
"And Hunny?"
"At this point, civil ceremony, he just wants to be married."
"I don't blame him." I replied, "What else do you have?"
"I have my dress, got it in New York, my brothers took me to Kleinfelds, while I was there, since they can't make it to the wedding. They paid for it together."
"Nice, what does it look like?"
"A sweetheart silk a-line gown." Reiko replied, "Simple and pretty."
"Who's paying?"
"My family is."
"I ask this cause I care, can you afford the venue?"
"No."
"Okay, call Hunny, you two fix this and I will help when you two have a firmer plan that you both actually want." I stood, "Call him, you two need to take back your own wedding."
Kimi's POV
"Wouldn't it be great to live in Oz?" I asked Haruhi.
"I don't know." Haruhi shrugged, "The whole movie Dorothy wants to go home."
"Dorothy also didn't know what she had until it was gone, she spent her whole journey learning what she had. She didn't appreciate her life."
"And you wouldn't want to come home?"
"I don't know." I shrugged, "Not that you and your dad aren't great, you're wonderful and I appreciate it."
"But it wasn't what you were expecting."
"Not really, well not so soon at least."
