Chapter Eighty-Two: Children Will Listen

Takashi's POV

I hadn't made any calls. I turned off my phone actually. I had to think about everything. She's pregnant. I got her pregnant. That's not good, well it is, but not right now. Hana is one thing; a baby is a whole other thing. I love Hana, but it's different with her. I don't think either of us is ready for this, but she's pregnant, we have to get married, it's the right thing to do. My parents hate her, when I marry her, I will get cut off. As soon as they hear she's pregnant, things aren't going to go over well.

"You've been hiding here all day, haven't you?" A voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked over to find Hana. She sat down next to me.

"You're supposed to be in bed."

"And you're supposed to be making calls to marry mom tomorrow, but you're not doing that either." She replied, "I won't tell mom, if you won't."

"Why are you up?"

"Couldn't sleep." She replied, "Why aren't you preparing to get married?"

"I wanted to think about things, I guess it took longer than I thought it would."

"If you're not ready, you shouldn't do it." She replied, "Mom isn't ready, but if she thinks you are, she might go along with it anyway."

"You're smarter than people give you credit."

"I spend all my time with grown ups with no friends my age, it's bound to rub off on me."

"I wouldn't exactly call us grown up."

"But you are." She replied, "All of you are"

I could see in this conversation, so was she, she was growing up. Slowly, but surely she was growing up and starting to much sooner than I thought she would be.

"What do you think I should do?"

"Wait."

"If I marry your mom, I will be your dad."

"You're already my dad." She replied, "You don't have to get married right now to prove that and you'll be my sister's, or brother's, dad when they come along as well."

"Any other advice?"

"About what?"

"I don't know."

She thought for a moment and then told me, "Careful the things you say, children listen. Be careful of the things you do, children will see and learn. We may not obey, but we do listen. We look to you guys for what to do when we're unsure of what to do or what to be. Be careful before you say 'listen to me', we do listen to what you say and keep it in mind." She stood, "I'd better go to bed before someone else sees that I'm up."

"Hana?"

She looked back at me.

"Stay a child while you can still be one, don't be in a rush to grow up so quickly." I told her.

She smiled, "Goodnight, dad."

"Goodnight sweetheart."

She left to go back to bed.

Yuki's POV

My earbuds blared 'Isn't She Lovely' as I danced and cleaned the restaurant area along with the music. The broom was taken out of my hand and replaced with someone else's hand. I looked up find Kyoya looking down at me with a small smile on his face. I took out one of my earbuds and handed it to him so he could hear the song and the rest on the playlist. He put it in and we danced.

Tamaki's POV

"Those two are so happy, how do they do it?" Kaoru asked. It was just the two of us looking at Kyoya and Yuki, everyone else had gone to bed a long time ago.

"By understanding one another." I replied simply.

"How?"

"By truly knowing who the other is, strengths, weaknesses, quirks, skills, and flaws, and not wanting to change them."

"Were you planning to step in?"

"Originally, before Kyoya did." I replied, "I still owe her an apology."

"I think she might already know how you feel."

"She might, but it doesn't hurt to tell her, but she doesn't need to hear it right now." I replied, "There's a time and place to say something and right now isn't the right time."

Kaoru looked at me confused, "What-"

"I apologize now; I'll have even more to apologize for." I replied, "Let them have their moment, they don't have very many left, she doesn't have many left."

"They could-"

"They could, but it will be a long time before it will work out in their favor." I told him, "You have to treasure what you have before you lose it, figure out what it means to you and treat it as such, or it won't turn out well for you, you could lose it or find someone who finds it even more valuable than you do."

Kaoru looked at me wide eyed and then looked back at them. I looked down at them one last time, and then went to bed. Kaoru stayed, I think the lesson he should have learned long ago was finally getting through. Children may not obey, but they will listen and learn. Just guide them and step away.

Kaoru's POV

I really messed up and I don't think I can really fix it this time. Even if I apologize again, things won't go back to what they were. I don't even know what they were. I didn't know enough about her and that was my mistake, I should have taken the time to do that. I should have taken the time to do a lot of things.

I sighed and went to bed.
