Chapter Eighty Four: Betrothed
Yuki's POV
Sitting with Akito, oh, how I would rather be doing anything, and I do mean anything else. I don't even know why the hell I'm here. Please phone ring and save me from this nightmare, save me from my Gaston. It didn't take me too long to put two and two together, I was just hoping I was wrong. I started to think of different songs as I tuned out Akito.
"I think this is going to work out quite nicely." Akito stated, catching me off-guard.
"What is?"
"The two of us being betrothed, of course." Akito stated, "You're absolutely breathtaking, I've never seen a more beautiful woman. We would make a striking pair. Of course, you're a bit rebellious, unruly, outspoken, and lack a great deal of propriety, but those things can be fixed. You just have to be tamed and broken first, before you are trained to be a proper wife."
"I'm sorry?"
"You have nothing to be sorry for, it will be my pleasure."
"Oh, I'm sure it will be if I choose to agree."
"Here's the wonderful thing about it, sweetheart, you don't have a choice." Akito smiled, "The papers are being signed now."
"Why?"
"Because I asked my father for you." Akito stated, "He wanted a way to merge our two families, build a stronger alliance. I saw you here with your twin brother and Kyoya, and I suggested that you would be the key. He was hesitant at first, but after a bit of reasoning, he saw how I was thinking. My father did think about matching you with Yuuichi, but he ultimately decided that he was a little too old for you, he might not be able to quite keep up with you. Of course, his original thought was to align you with Kyoya, due to your ages, but I made the argument that Kyoya was far too young to be married. I'm not a fool I know exactly what is going on between the two of you, as does your grandmother, she was very keen to pull you two apart, I don't know why it doesn't concern me, it worked into my favor when I asked for your hand." Akito explained, "You have no other choice, my dear, unless you want to permanently leave Japan, never to see Tamaki, Kyoya, or any of your friends again. Not that you would really be seeing much of them anyway after we're married."
Okay, this is worse than what I had originally thought. He isn't asking me, he's telling me. I have two choices to either leave the country or be a prisoner for the rest of my life. Well, Belle, what would you do in my situation? You're backed into a corner by Gaston and you can run away, but it's hard to say if your Beast will go after you, or you marry Gaston and Beast will hate you for the rest of your lives. Well, which do you choose? Either way you lose in some way. You lose Beast either way. Well? You don't have an answer, do you? Neither do I.
I looked at Akito and then to the front door, I leave now, I might as well pack my bags and find the first flight out of Japan, didn't matter which airport or where it was, I would find somewhere to live eventually, or I stay until I graduate and then leave as soon as I can with someone else's help, or I stay and marry Akito…
If I left now, I would have hours to get everything together, and they would still find me and bring me back. If I left later around the time I graduate, at the latest, I would have to leave that night through the help of someone else. If I stayed and married Akito, I don't want to think about all of the repercussions that would have. Maybe I should talk to Sumi about that favor, if I plan it out with her, I might be able to leave the night I graduate, but I wouldn't be able to go back to Paris, I could go to The US or the UK, I speak English. I speak German too, I guess I could go to Germany. I could go to Canada… The important thing is I have options.
"Master Akito, Miss Yuki, dinner is served." A maid told us.
We followed her into the dinning room. We were placed together across from Kyoya and Tamaki. Kyoya's brother, Yuuichi was on my other side. Grandmother was on the other side of Tamaki. Kyoya's father and ours were at the ends.
"I would like to raise a glass to toast to the union of two influential families." My father raised his glass. "To a blissful and productive upcoming marriage of Akito and Yuki."
Kyoya and Tamaki's eyes slightly widened. I kept my poker face straight, no one was going to know I was planning something.
'And the end of my life as I know it.' I thought as we toasted the union.
