AN: This chapter is dedicated to the many wonderful people who have supported this story over the years and when it first came out. I know it looks a little different now. I got a warning on another story a while back about song lyrics being used in stories, which was not an issue when this story first came out, and if I didn't change that story they would have reported me to the website admins over a couple of lyrics from a pretty well known Journey song. So I updated all of the chapters of this one, so I wouldn't have that issue with this one. There will be more chapters coming, I have almost 7 full new chapters written that will be coming over this holiday season. To those reading the story for the first time now, I really appreciate you giving the story a shot. I hope you enjoy it. I just wanted to take the time to thank you all and let you know I never forgot about this story. Happy reading everyone.

Chapter Ninety - Three: A Plan to Reunite

Kyoya's POV

After being invited inside and exchanging pleasantries with Sumi and Takashi, I asked without thought or hesitation, "Do you know how to get in touch with Yuki or where she is? Allan told me everything he knew. I don't know what else you have in store for all of us, but I just want to talk to her."

"I didn't have anything planned for you guys." Sumi replied, "You're here for a vacation. I can give you my laptop so you can get in touch with Yuki. It's hard to say if she'll be up right now, it's about 3 am where she is, so I'd wait til tonight to contact her, like around 9 or 10."

"So she's in the States." I surmised.

"She's in New York for the time being, she was able to get her citizenship papers in order. She's living with one of Reiko's brothers." She responded unfazed by my directness, "She's been looking at a few universities in other states and we're trying to figure out a good place to set ourselves up in the States that is also a good fit for her to go to school. She loves this little university in eastern Massachusetts. She doesn't like the feel of Boston though."

"You've been helping her pay for everything." I assumed.

Sumi nodded, "We help here and there. She has her own money and has a job, but New York City is expensive and she doesn't make a living wage, especially when she's trying to work and finish school. Now, if you're interested in going to university in the states I could send you a list of the universities in the surrounding area of where she's going that your family wouldn't give a second thought to."

"That would be great, thank you." I told her earnestly.

"It's the least I could do for everything you both did for me." Sumi replied, "Let me show you to your room, we can grab my laptop on the way. I think I left it in the library."

"You did." Mori confirmed, "I'm going to go check on dinner."

We parted ways with Sumi and I heading down the hall and Mori going towards the kitchen. On the way to the guest room, we picked up her laptop as well as a couple of books. If I couldn't talk to Yuki now, I might as well find something to preoccupy my time. I wasn't quite in the mood for socializing tonight. Once we reached the guest room, Sumi told me, "I'll send you that list in a little bit. I'm just gonna see if Takashi needs any help in the kitchen. You eat Pad Thai right?"

I nodded, "I do."

"Good." She smiled, "The passcode to the laptop is 5574. Skype is already up."

"Thank you." I told her before she left. I walked inside the guest room and closed the door behind me.

After getting more comfortable, I opened the laptop, intending to only pull up google so that I could look up the universities Sumi would send when she had a chance, and then I saw the available green light on Yuki's skype. Unable to resist, I called her.

"Sumi, I know I should be sleeping, I can't." Yuki answered the call with her video already added on. She was in a grey t-shirt that had the Ghostbusters' logo printed on it and with the way the laptop was positioned the rim of her red and black flannel pajama pants were visible.

Adding the camera to my call, I told her, "Insomnia will do that to you. I can't say I've been sleeping too well either…" I took a deep breath, and told her what I had been wanting to tell her since she left, "I miss you. I've read through every letter and with each one I become more aware of the fact that I should have left with you when I had the chance. I should have asked you to leave with me when I found out about you being promised to Akito. We would have figured something out. Can I come to see you? I have some schools that I'm going to go look at in Massachusetts, maybe you could come with me. You could show me the school you want to go to and we could look for an apartment."

"I would love that." She responded softly, "I miss you...so much."

"I'll come to see you as soon as I can set everything up." I promised, "Would you be okay to stay in an apartment by yourself? It would only be until the end of term. We'd furnish it before I left."

"It'd have to be something small, I can only afford so much." She answered, "We wouldn't be able to get anything bigger than a one bedroom, which won't be like what you're used to. None of this will be like what you're used to."

"I know, that's okay." I assured her, "I wasn't expecting for things to stay the same. I'm the third son, it's not likely I'd be the one chosen to inherit my father's company. I want to prove what I can do to my father and then I'm going to move out there so we can start over together."

"What are you going to do?"

"I'm still working it out, but as soon as I know I'll tell you." I replied, "Is there any way I can contact you?" There had to be a better way to contact her outside of She nodded and started typing. After a couple of moments, a message popped up on the screen with her phone number and a link to her Facebook profile. I pulled up the profile and then looked at her confused, "You're going by a different name now?"

"I wanted a change and I thought it'd be a good idea to have something different."

"Why Zoe Todd?"

She shrugged, "I liked it and I didn't want the Suoh name anymore. I wanted names that started with the letter after mine and I liked what the names meant. Zoe means life and Todd means fox. I still go by Yuki with those who know me by that."

"You making any friends?"

"Reiko's brothers are nice, I've been spending most of my time with them." She answered, "I've been mostly trying to stick to myself for now. Keep my head down while I finish my classes."

"How are those going?"

"It's online, so I spend a lot of time on a laptop and work at my own pace." She responded, "It's preferable than being the new kid in my last year of school. I do end up spending a lot of time on my own though which isn't easy."

"Sumi said you were working."

"Yeah, I'm working at a movie theater." She smiled, "I get to see movies and eat concessions for free."

"At what cost to you though?"

"I clean the theater after a showing." She replied simply, noting my expression, "It's not as bad as it sounds and it was the first job I could get. I'll find something else in Massachusetts, I could always work on campus or at the mall down the street." She tilted her head, "Will you stop looking at me like that? Your privilege is showing."

"Sorry, I guess I'm still getting used to commoner life." I apologized.

"You come out here, you're going to be living it." She pointed out, "Are you going to be okay?"

"I'll be fine, I'll have you to teach me." I told her, "Tell me about your classes."

"My classes are boring, tell me what you've been up to." She replied, "We've talked a lot about me, I wanna hear about you."

"There hasn't been much going on other than that scavenger hunt you've had us on." I told her, "Why did you have us do that?"

"Thought it'd be fun and a good way to get you guys to take a break."

"We've taken vacations."

"You've worked vacations." She corrected, "Enjoy the time off while you can. What else have you been up to?"

"Just business dinners with my family." I answered with a bitter taste in my mouth as I thought about what my brother had said before I left. Placing her number into my phone, I made sure to put her new name with the number so that if someone saw it in my phone, it wouldn't be questioned. Sighing, I added, "Those are always uneventful and I don't have you to help escape from the more mind-numbing ones."

"We stopped doing that after I was betrothed to Akito." She pointed out softly, "Well, that and other things." She looked down, "With everything going on, I couldn't stay."

Unable to help myself, I told her, "You were originally supposed to be betrothed to me."

"I know." She admitted, "Akito told me when he was informing me of our engagement and how he was planning to tame me into a proper wife."

"I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize, you didn't do anything."

"That's why I am." I told her. I knew how my brother was and what he could be like when he was upset. Knowing Yuki and how stubborn and unapologetic she was when it came to her individuality, it was abundantly clear now how difficult that time must have been for her and I hadn't done anything to help her. Even with the few chances I had, I put my family first. Or at least, I had put the wrong family first and in doing so I had lost the most important part of it.

"It's okay, I understand why you did." She replied, "Your family is important to you."

"So are you." I responded. She looked down, but didn't say anything. Her silence made me uncomfortable. It wasn't like her to be quiet about anything or let someone else have the last word. Then, I noticed it. She had changed from the time she had spent with Akito and our time apart because of it. She had lacked some of her vitality, the vitality and lust for life I had missed while she had been gone and balancing all of the changes hadn't helped too much to bring her back to who she had been. Hoping to lighten the mood, I told her, "I'll show you how much when I come to see you. Anything you want to do, anywhere you want to go, all you have to do is say the word."

Smiling softly, she said, "I just want you."

"I'll be out there as soon as I can and it won't be too long until I'm living out there." I assured her, "Any ideas for a name I could go by?"

"You sure you want to change your name, Kyo?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I'm leaving my family to start a new life with the woman I plan to spend the rest of my life with who was betrothed to my brother, it might not be the worst idea to go by a different name in public as you have. Any ideas of what you think I could go by?"

"You could probably pass for a Michael, or Oliver, maybe Emmett…" She paused, "Those are the only ones I can think of."

I nodded, "Okay, I'll think about those, any last names you like? Preferably common."

"Moore is pretty common and it would sound alright with all of those."

"Okay, I think I like the sound of Michael Moore." I responded, "Zoe Moore doesn't sound half bad either, much better than Todd."

"Well, you better work on getting out here so you can change it."

"I'll start making the arrangements." I smiled, "Do you want a wedding with our friends or do you want to elope?"

"I don't know if Sumi would be able to make it if we did."

"We can wait if you want." I suggested, "Or we can do something later that includes everyone."

"I like that idea." She agreed, "Let's do something now for us and then we'll do something with everyone else later, maybe we come back to Japan when we can so we can celebrate with everyone and that they all wouldn't have to travel so far."

"You're not worried about our families?"

"If we're married, what can they really do?"

Smirking, I told her, "Not a thing."

Nodding in agreement, she smiled, "Not a damn thing."

"Would you rather get married when I visit or I move out there?"

"If we got married when you came to visit, I wouldn't want to let you go." She responded, "I couldn't, not again. When you visit, we'll find an apartment, make it our home, and maybe do a few other things. We never got that second visit to the mountains, maybe we could do something more."

Remembering that night, I felt my face start to flush at the thought of going back to that night and the possibility of doing more than what we had done or what we had been doing. Making a note to research flights and take a cold shower after we got off the call, I took a deep breath to calm my throbbing… heart. "We'll have to remedy that as soon as we find an apartment."

We continued to make light conversation after that. We talked about things we wanted in an apartment, how we wanted to decorate, and towns not too far from the town she'd be going to university at. We talked about different places in the New England area we could elope in. Well, she mostly talked, I sat and listened to her. Leaning back against the headboard, I couldn't help but smile as spoke manically with her hands. I loved how passionate she was. Reluctantly, I looked at the time. A few hours had passed since we started talking. Sighing, I reluctantly reminded her that she should try to get some sleep while it was still dark. She wouldn't sleep at all after sunrise. Begrudgingly she nodded and agreed after I told her I'd message her later so that we could pick up her conversation. We ended the call and I turned off the laptop. Pulling out my phone, I started to look up apartments and the universities Sumi had sent me while I was talking to Yuki.
