Chapter XXIII
Twenty third session
"Leaving yet?" Iku asked InuYasha, from the door leading to the small room where they stored the uniforms and left their belongings while working.
"Yes, I'm ready." He put the jacket on and took his shoes with him to the entrance.
It was Sunday and the night had been less busy than the one before. Their working hours also ended sooner. As he put his shoes on, his coworker was summarizing him how his morning had been, due to the leak he had at home. InuYasha was smiling, enjoying the story and how Iku was telling it.
"I think I'll just have to call a plumber or Narumi will hang me from the boys' room window."
The man narrated his adventures, yet InuYasha had stopped listening since a few seconds ago, when a few steps away he caught sight of Kagome's figure, who remained standing near the building and seemed to be waiting for him. She hadn't talked to her since yesterday, when he left her apartment to work, and after the bar and Shiori's situation he didn't look for her.
"... So when the water began to come out..."
Kagome looked at him through the little distance separating them, and noticed the anxiety settling inside her stomach. She had been waiting for half an hour for him to appear. She couldn't deny that last night she wanted to see him cross her door, yet they hadn't agreed to anything and she didn't want to show more interest in him than necessary. Despite that, there she was, waiting for his shift to end, and playing the card of being the Sunday's girl.
"Hi." Greeted InuYasha, as soon as he came to be in front of her, with a tone slightly cordial.
"Hi." Was Kagome's neutral answer.
"Hi!" Added Iku, by their side, making a strange counterpoint which made them remember they weren't alone.
"Hi." Kagome answered, a certain doubt in her voice, not remembering the name of InuYasha's coworker; in this moment, he came to her aid.
"Iku was telling me about his problems with Narumi." He joked.
The man elbowed his side. The situation had become strange, even tense in some way. Kagome didn't think that InuYasha could come with someone else, and being there waiting for him was something that gave the reunion a hint of something she didn't want to assimilate.
"You are Kagome, aren't you?" He asked, to which she smiled courteously and nodded. "What do you see in this wannabe cook?"
Kagome kept her smile on, the question albeit harmless, was actually incredibly compromising. Her gaze sought InuYasha, whose posture became rigid, as if she was actually pondering the answer and it wasn't just a joke.
"I'm in the process of knowing if there is something to discover." Her smile turned mischievous, then immediately intimate and clearly directed to InuYasha. That sent a clear sign to Iku.
"I should go." He announced. "Let me know if you discover anything." Iku touched her arm, and Kagome leaned away, slightly, barely, and in fact he completely missed it, and for InuYasha it came as so soft he wondered if it had been just his imagination.
As such, Iku went on ahead, leaving Kagome and InuYasha standing in front of each other in the middle of a strange silence, not uncomfortable, yet very much like those moments in which you don't know exactly how to act. She had ventured to come in a clear wish of his company, and he wasn't expecting her.
"Want us to walk?" He asked her, and Kagome felt strange and slightly absurd. Of all the things she yearned to do with InuYasha tonight, walking was the last one she wanted as an offer. Probably what she felt was a result of the anxiety she had been consumed by throughout the day.
"Sure." She turned around.
They fell into step while in silence, and Kagome repressed the urge of spewing out the thought she had: maybe she should have left him a message previously, or just simply not shown up. They've been seeing each other for a week now, and many times, yet these encounters had always been in their respective apartments, which left little room for doubt as to what they were seeing each other for. Maybe that was why it seemed so strange to be with him like that on the street.
"How was your day?" The phrase was friendly, as friendly as any phrase said by any person, relevant or not, in her life, and Kagome didn't want to tell him anything. She didn't want to talk about her mother, or the conflicting emotions she felt for her and the things she could never tell her, and that she also didn't talk to anybody.
"Now we ask each other such things?" She spat, as an act of defense of her emotions, although she didn't expect to sound so drastic. She regretted it almost immediately.
InuYasha received that answer as what it was, a hit. And he could reply in kind with the same energy from that hit, and turn the moment in something irreparable. He even thought about the possibility of taking that as a sign and halt his every attempt with Kagome, to continue with his casual encounters and he was sure he could do it, yet he also accepted it would be much easier to do so if he liked her a bit less. So, he took the time to turn and shape that emotion.
"What do you want me to ask?" His voice was calm, as much as he managed.
Kagome looked at him through the corner of her eyes, she definitely felt more rattled than what was usual. She took a deep breath, and just like many other times she decided she needed to go back to known territory, where she felt safe, confident, and could control the situation. She stopped in front of InuYasha, forcing him to halt his steps right at the moment where crashing against her wasn't but a graze. He gazed down at her, Kagome was petite compared to him, and if he hadn't stopped, her figure would probably be on the ground right now.
He felt how she stood on the point of her feet, holding herself against his chest with a hand, to get near his ear. InuYasha's nape hair, and ear fluff bristled at her whisper of an answer.
"Ask me how I want you to do me today."
The room was permeated by a soft, orange-toned light, and through the slightly open window a breeze of cold air came through, announcing the coming of winter. The smell was that of lavender, and came from a candle InuYasha had lit as soon as they arrived. The sound enveloped the place in sighs, pants and held back moans which had a certain delicate yet passionate rhythm to them, sometimes rattling and filling the whole room completely, escaping slightly through the barely open window, to be shared with the night.
InuYasha used all of his will to keep his arms extended on the bed in the way Kagome had placed them. She held his wrist with her hands, and he wasn't abstaining of catching the nipple swaying on his face as she rode him like a wild horse, trying to tame the hips he rose, faster and faster every time, showing no mercy. He felt himself reaching his limits, albeit that sensation had been keeping him company for the last few minutes now, and Kagome making him remain there quite splendidly, coordinating the intensity of her movement so that climax remained just slightly away from reach. Even so, InuYasha felt it wouldn't be long before the orgasm filled his body and mind, clouding it for those few delicious seconds of pleasure. He let go of her nipple in a moist sound, and confessed his defeat.
"Alright... I can no longer... "
Kagome huffed over his head, perturbing his locks. She felt motivated by the words he practically sighed between his anxious movements under her. She rose as much as she could without letting go of his wrists, and met a couple of feverish golden eyes. She felt a shiver run from her coccyx to her nape, due to the fire that seemed to emanate from InuYasha. She laid on him, noticing the heat of his chest on her chest, and released his wrists, to replace the contact with the intertwining of their hands. That gesture was taken as the submission it was, provoking a series of merciless thrusts from the crotch of her companion to her entrance. Kagome licked his neck, in the middle of her moans coming from the friction, heat and stimulus of the strong touches of InuYasha on her sex. Finally, she began to shiver as her body tensed like the string of a monochord when it's about to break. She felt the way in which he grasped at her with his fingers, and heard the guttural moan that came from him as the orgasm shook him, pulling at hers as if synchronizing to exist. In the middle of that nebulae of pleasure, Kagome wondered how it would be to feel InuYasha finish inside her without that layer of protection. Then, those thoughts became vague, and the sensations overwhelmed everything for those fascinating seconds where nothing matters.
She remained very still while lying on his body, noticing the soft up-and-down of InuYasha's breathing.
"Soon..." Kagome attempted to say she'd get off him soon, yet she still was unable to produce a sound.
"Shhh..." He also couldn't talk, and the best way he found to communicate she needn't move was to hold up one of their intertwined hands, while with the other he pulled at the sheet to cover her.
There were so many emotive gestures that InuYasha had with her, and she was unable to encompass them or give them a place in her universe; She limited herself to accept them, when she could, and to unvoice her thoughts. She still felt him inside her, albeit he would probably leave her in a matter of an instant, given that the condom could become loose due to the fading erection. There, she was invaded by a sudden urge of embracing him and remain, to only be there, through the time that instant would last.
And she did so.
She let go of his hand and found place on him as if they were nothing but a couple of pieces made to fit. Her head rested on his shoulder, and her lungs took in the musky scent of InuYasha's skin, which still smelled like the rosemary soap he had in his bathroom. He placed a hand between them, and abandoned her insides. Kagome repressed a moan of complain; she didn't want to feel so empty yet.
Through the window came the rumor of the night; that which manages to make any sound take on the spotlight, and amplify it without any barrier to oppose it. In the room, the light traced the line of the two bodies still close together, closer than any of the would be capable of confessing.
After a long while, Kagome breathed in deeply and let the air out to stretch and start to move her body which was beginning to feel heavy.
What an exquisite sensation pleasure leaves! She thought.
She sat at one side of the bed, and heard InuYasha make a sound, sleepy. She looked at him, and he returned her gaze with heavy eyelashes. Kagome became conscious of the hand he had placed on her waist, and the strength with which that gesture, which was barely a touch, held her there.
"I've got to go." She told him, and InuYasha opened his eyes a bit more.
"Stay." He muttered.
"I work tomorrow." She continued.
"As do I." Kagome shook her head, slowly, softly. "Stay." He insisted. "I'll sleep at one side of the bed, and you can sleep on the other, we'll give our back to each other, and it will be like we aren't sleeping together."
The string of words came from a voice deep into the eerie sensation of satisfying sex and the sleepiness that comes after.
"Don't be an idiot." She smiled, not able to help it.
"Hey! No need to offend." InuYasha smiled slightly, and laid sideways towards her. "If you want to go, you can go. The door is right there." He pointed at the exit. "But that won't stop me from following you."
"Why would you follow me?" She became a bit surprised. InuYasha took in some air and sighed, his gaze locked on her.
"It's late and its Sunday, you'll find the streets empty." The answer arrived plain, without second guessing, and more than anything, with complete ignorance of what they meant for Kagome.
"I don't need you to take care of me." She turned around, abandoning his eyes, feeling invaded in her most intimate place, in that part which she simply didn't share with anyone. InuYasha had just touched an open, bleeding wound which she kept isolated precisely to prevent that pain.
"I know."
I am the one that needs to protect you. That, he never voiced.
Kagome found herself immersed in a deep and rested sleep when she heard her phone's alarm, and managed to think about how much she disliked It, right before moving on the futon to reach the place where she usually left it. However, she didn't find it at her first attempt, and the floor seemed to be way lower than usual. She followed the sound instinctively, and opened her eyes to better search for it, finding the device on InuYasha's nightstand. In that moment her mind gathered in hasty bumps the different elements: she had slept at InuYasha's apartment.
She turned around swiftly to check if he was lying on the other side of the bed, yet she didn't find him. She sat straight in order to skim through the room, which included the kitchen a few steps away, and didn't find any hints of him either. Her hands brushed her eyes in order to clear her sight, and took a look at the hour on her phone; it was eight thirty in the morning. She took in a deep breath, and stretched the sleepiness out; it was a good hour to get ready and go to the office, as she had the liberty of arriving even an hour late as long as she compensated it throughout the week.
She stood up and took the blanket extended on the bed to cover herself as she looked if InuYasha was in the bathroom. By that moment she was almost sure he wasn't in the apartment, and that came as strange and particular. Inside her, different sensation mixed: complacence and the urge to run away from everything that may tie her down.
How was she supposed to keep control of herself if she had to share it?
As she expected, InuYasha wasn't in the bathroom, although she did find some wet towel hanging from the shower's metal bar. She became surprised at the fact that he had taken a shower yet no sound woke her due to how deep her sleep had been. She looked at the shower with some anxiety, it would do her some good to get beneath the water before going to work. She attempted to tie her hair, yet found she had nothing to held it in place, so she looked inside some drawers beneath the washbasin, finding a shaving razor, a hair comb and some hair bands InuYasha would probably use at some point. She found it strange to feel up to use his things as if they were her own, so much her heartbeat began to pound. The sound of a car's claxon out in the street pulled her out of her thoughts, so she took the hair brand and headed for the shower.
When coming out of the bathroom, the vapor began to escape and Kagome opened one of the windows in the main room for it to escape entirely. As she turned around, she caught sight of a note lying on the disordered pillows at one side of InuYasha's bed. Her steps took her closer, and in the note, she found words that albeit concise, had a warmth in them, maybe because her betraying mind imagined them coming out of InuYasha's mouth.
My shift at the coffee shop starts at seven, so I can't stay to make you some coffee. You can use what you need. Close well when you leave.
To be continued.
A/N
I like to see how the story unfolds, which I've said before, started with idea of being short... and look where we are now. However, I feel comfortable when writing it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and that you tell me in your comments.
Kisses, and thanks for reading and keeping me company,
Anyara.
