Chapter 8

Just a little bit of food.

The sunlight shined through the windows right onto Alara's sleeping face.

outside of the window were the flying squirrel, raccoon, and both doves.

"Well, should we wake her up?" One of the doves asked

"Are you kidding?" The flying squirrel asked

"Girl screamed like a banshee yesterday." He mumbled

'And I got sensitive ears.'

Alara turned over and rubbed her eyes

Whispering

"I'm not going to scream."

Alara opened her eyes to see the flying squirrel right in her face

"That's a relief."

"AHH!"

Alara ducked under the covers

" You can hear us?" Interrogated the flying squirrel

"You can talk?" Alara asked as she pulled down the blanket

"Uh can he stop talking is a better question?" The raccoon sassed

"Heyyyy."

"So what are we dealing with? Some kind of a magic spell or something." The flying squirrel proposed the idea

'Hmm'

"With each deed performed for better or worse a power is granted blessing or curse." Alara mumbled looking down at her necklace.

"I helped a baby bird yesterday and I think the amulet gave me the power to talk to animals!'

"Oh that is great cause there's a few things that i've been meaning to talk to you princesses about." the flying squirrel said.

"Astucieux, not now." A dove scolded as it landed right by Alara

It's okay, Astusieux tell me." Alara said as she picked him up

Alara got out of bed and walked toward her closet.

There were so many dresses in the closet

After a little bit of looking she found a forest green dress. She took the dress off the hanger and grabbed her black flower high heels. When she came out of the room the two doves flew over and put her crown on her head.

When Alara got back out she saw the animals on her bed.

"Okay now why do you think us woodland creatures have been helping you princess?" Astucieux asked, hopping on the stool right by the bed.

"I don't know?" Alara emitted

"Tell me." She answer after she opened a box on her vanity

"Cause we got to eat." Astucieux explained

"And we got the food." Alara finished for him

"We've helped princesses for many eons, but you treat us like furry peons." Astucieux started to sing.

Astucieux hopped from Alara's bed to her bedside table to find her pencils.

We make your bed, clean up your messes."

The two doves flew over and picked up the bed sheets and pulled them up.

"Wake you up and put on all your dresses."

The squirrel hopped off of the bed and closed the closet door.

"And what's our reward? What thanks do we get? Not a crumb, not a morset, no brie, no baguette~"

Astucieux hopped off of the table and onto the ground.

"Ohh! Did you really think after all these years when we did your chores, we were volunteers?"

The two doves flew over and picked up her books

"A little bit of food is all that we seek, a little bit to eat."

Alara walked over to her desk and picked up her backpack.

"Fill our tummy,

wet our beaks,

A little too much."

The two doves dropped the books and pencils in her backpack and flew over to her bed where her folder was. They picked it up and flew back to her, when they got there they dropped the folder in a closed the backpack.

"Like breakfast,

Dinner,

Lunch."

Astucieux hopped over to her bedroom door and opened it.

"And not a seed, a bean, or some rice."

Alara walked out of the doors and down the hallway.

"Cause a little bit of food, would sure be nice."

Alara turned the corner and walked over to the balcony, she looked over to see a couple of girls carrying plates into the banquet hall.

"It really isn't much, not too much for us to ask, After helping daily with each little task."

The raccoon hopped up on the railing.

"Just a bite or two.

Such a modest fee,

Even little songbirds shouldn't sing for free."

Alara turned and started to walk down the stairs when the two doves started to fly next to her.

"Well, if food is what you want."

When Alara made it down the stairs she was met with Sophia and grabbed a hold of Astucieux.

"Just a little bit."

The two doves flew right by Sophia and looked at Alara.

"You've come to the right castle! Follow me! Ha ha!"

Alara said as she chuckled when she saw Sophia's look of confusion.

"A little bit too much, and there's nothing quite like brunch."

Alara walked over to two sets of doors.

"So deliver just a sliver or a slice."

Alara opened up the two doors and grabbed a basket.

"Of whatever tasty treat, all the royal people eat."

She started to grab food from plates and bags.

"We'd be glad to make some room."

She walked over to another set of doors.

"For a lentil or legume."

As she opened the doors she saw Sophia heading out of the castle and into the carriage.

"If you want some first-class service."

Alara put the basket down and started to head towards the doors.

"There's a price and a little bit of food would sure be nice."

She turned around to see the animals carrying the basket away.

"Oh! A little bit of food!"

"A little bit of food."

Just a little bit of food!"

Just a little bit of food."

She turned back around and headed out of the doors.

"Nice!"
