Chapter One: Violet Encounter
Beep! Beep! Bee-
A scarred hand raised in defiance at his alarm and slammed it's fist down on the clock, silencing it with a groan. It was an early morning, and one man was silently dreading it as he was now required to wake up and start the day. His first day in a new city, with a new job, and no one that he could call friends, but he'd make do for now.
A tuft of green hair shot up from the bed, revealing that it was the man in question, Izuku Midoriya. He had recently moved back to his home prefecture, Shizuoka, after completing university, and was now making good use of his degree by working for a nonprofit animal sanctuary.
He was more than happy to be working for the company that he did, but now he had to wake up real early to be able to make it to the station so that he could make it across town in time for he didn't have any other mode of transportation.
Stretching, the greenette grunted a little due to the soreness from his muscles from working out last night. Since he'd be waking up early, he really had no other option than to switch his workouts to be at night. Being bullied his entire life, Izuku decided that during college he'd make the most of his time away and began to change himself for the better, working out, discovering his hobbies, and even dating a little (Though that last one didn't end well for him).
But now, he was as fit as a fiddle, and abnormally strong. Like scarily so according to many different sources, but that didn't matter. What mattered now was getting ready and getting to the station on time.
Izuku rose to his feet, tossing his blanket aside as he sat up and stretched his legs, making his bed for when he got home before heading into the bathroom to have a shower and do all that he needed to do for the morning.
Afterwards the greenette got dressed for work, seeing that he worked primarily in the back with the animals he was given a lot of free reign with what he could wear just so long as he didn't mind it getting them dirty. (That and he had to wear the company's imprinted apron along with his clothes).
He decided to wear something light as it was still August, a nice beige plaid shirt that he'd leave open to reveal a gray t-shirt, and some blue jeans that he left cuffed at the bottom. On top of his outfit he slung on his gray backpack, a gold necklace with a Saturn pendant, and some black chucks. An outfit that could help him with a bit of everything, both fashion-wise and work-wise.
Stepping out of his bedroom, the greenette made his way out of his apartment, not even bothering to get himself some breakfast as he had a granola bar in his bag. He locked his door behind him before beginning his trek down to the ground floor of his apartment complex, and heading off to the station.
As he made his way down the street of what had been his home, he gazed at the many changes that had been made. It seemed like everything was more vibrant and bustling as a city should be, but he couldn't lie and say he didn't miss the quiet corner of Shizuoka that he lived in with his mother, even with all the bullying.
'I wonder how mom's doing…' Izuku thought as he pulled out some headphones, plugging them into his phone before popping them into his ears and continuing to drown out the rest of the world as he headed for his destination.
He had been offered to live with his mother, but the distance between his home there and work was just far too great for him to ever consider making it to work on time, so he opted to just live an hour, give or take, away.
Izuku waved politely to those that attempted to greet him on his way to work, many of whom were just friendly shop owners or random strangers. It was a nice day, the sun was out and it seemed like nothing would disrupt Izuku's flow today.
He had made it to the station and swiftly made his way over to where his normal train would take him away to the other side of town. There were only a few more minutes until the train arrived at the station, so Izuku pulled out his phone and began to scroll through social media idly.
Some images of his college friends here, a regrettable image from one of his exes there, and Izuku was already ready to close out of the app. Sighing, the greenette peered up from his phone as he heard the train beginning to make its way towards the station. Guess his music wasn't loud enough.
People began to pour out of both sides of the train, many of whom were making their treks to work just as Izuku. None of them were important people; none of them would even bat an eye towards one another, they all just blended in with the crowd. Not that there was anything wrong with that, Izuku assumed he was the same as everyone else.
As the train emptied out, Izuku and many of the other passengers made their way on. The greenette grabbed onto one of the hand rails and leaned on it as he pulled out his phone to change the song he was listening to, but something that caught his eye made him stop abruptly.
There was a girl in front of him, seated by the window. He could have sworn that she hadn't been there a second ago, and yet here she was, scrolling through what he assumed was her playlist, just like him.
She didn't even seem to notice him, but he sure as hell noticed her, evident by how hard he had been staring. She was beautiful, short purple hair, a few piercings on her ears, and little to no sign of makeup on her face. She seemed smaller in stature, but Izuku wasn't one to judge as he was on the shorter end of the stick as well.
She wore a black leather jacket with a gray and black striped tank top underneath. She was wearing a black and gray plaid skirt with fishnet leggings underneath, and some black leather high heel mid-calf boots. Izuku was left speechless by her appearance; she was cute.
Aside from her physical appearance, she just looked interesting. What was she like? What was her life like? What did she do for a living? She looked to be around his age, but where had she come from? What was her name? Why was he so invested in these questions about her?
This was new for Izuku. Never before had he been so interested in a stranger; to put it into simple terms he was fascinated by her. She was gorgeous, she looked like no other girl that he had encountered in his life, and that fact alone made it so that he couldn't look away. He was infatuated.
She seemed to have picked up on the feeling of being stared at, but as she lifted her head Izuku quickly turned away before she could notice. His heart was beating out of his chest, his face felt hot. What was he doing just sitting there staring at her!?
'What is wrong with me!?' Izuku thought, taking a shaky quiet breath as he pulled out his phone to do what he had originally planned before; changing his music. 'Calm down, it'll pass...'
But it never did. Day after day, Izuku's daily ride to work became apart of something more, an uncontrollable infatuation if you would. Even when Izuku had tried to move away from the girl, she still found a way to be right by him. It was like torment everyday, his mind would constantly be filled by questions pertaining to the girl's own personal life. He wondered what her voice sounded like, what her smile was like, hell, even what her social life was like!
It even began to affect his work life. There were so many times while working with an animal at the sanctuary that he worked at that he would find himself completely spacing out and overfeeding them. His mind couldn't help but return to that girl, and he just couldn't figure out why.
He so desperately wanted to speak to her to find the answers to his question, but how could he? He couldn't just walk up to her and rapid fire these questions at her! He already feels creepy enough as it is! He couldn't take it anymore, but there wasn't anything that he could do. Maybe he could just talk to someone about it? But who would want to listen to such a thing?
"H-Honestly that does sound pretty weird…" A soft voice answered, flinching as Izuku slammed his head onto the table beneath him. He was sitting right across from his co-worker, Koji Koda. The two of them had gotten acquainted as of recently, and out of everyone he knew, perhaps the quiet boy would have some advice for him.
"Yeah, and I just don't know what to do…" Izuku revealed, sighing thoughtfully as he continued to envision the girl's face. "I've just been getting the gut feeling that I should talk to her. Hell, I thought that I would have lost my chance by now, but she keeps appearing on my train. It's gotta be a coincidence right?"
"I don't know about any of that, but if you believe in fate then maybe you're just destined to cross paths with her. How long has it been since this started?" Koda inquired, petting the rabbit that laid in his lap idly as they conversed.
"Like… A week and a half? It's almost September and this has still been going on, and I just don't know what to do anymore." Izuku groaned as he slammed his head into the table once more, startling Koda and the bunny he was holding accidentally. "Ah, sorry…"
"Hrm… W-Well, I'm not one to really say, but maybe just try talking to her?" He suggested, shrugging impassively as he gave the greenette an awkward smile. "C-Compliments are usually a good way to lean into a conversation, right?"
"If only it were that easy…" Izuku groaned once more, sighing in thought. He had often fantasized about what he would first say to her, but when the moment came for him to greet her and start the conversation it just… Didn't come out. He couldn't think of anything to say that could start the conversation. "I should be able to talk to her, but I just… Can't. It doesn't feel right just trying to talk to her out of nowhere, but I know that I can't just sit around waiting for an opportunity."
"What are you so afraid of?" A new voice chimed in, revealed to be Tsuyu Asui, one of Izuku's other co-workers. She specialized in all of their amphibious animals, such as frogs, and salamanders. "Sorry, I don't mean to barge into your conversation, but I overheard while stepping into the break room."
"Ah, Tsu…" Izuku mumbled in greeting, twiddling his thumbs as he pondered the question. "Honestly, I'm more afraid that I'll creep her out just by trying to talk to her out of nowhere. I know that's how relationships are usually formed, but I'm really anxious. She seems so interesting, and honestly I've never been this infatuated with anyone. This is new for me."
"I get that, but it's like you said. You can't just sit around and wait for an opportunity to present itself, you should make the opportunity yourself." She stated, placing a hand to the greenette's shoulder comfortingly. "And quit being so anxious. I don't think anyone finds spazzes attractive."
"So harsh, but so true." Izuku responded, sighing as he leaned back in his chair. "I guess I have no choice, I'll just have to try and talk to her tomorrow before I miss my chance."
"I'm sure once you get to talking everything will work out, you're a pretty good guy, Midoriya." Tsuyu complimented, giving the greenette a warm smile.
"Thanks, Tsu." The greenette replied, rising from his seat with a newfound determination. "Well, it's about time for me to clock out and head home, I'll let you guys know how it goes."
Waving as he left, the greenette made his way out of the building and on his way home so that he could change and get to the gym. Koda turned to Tsuyu in concern with the knowledge of how she really felt about all of this.
"Tsu… A-Are you really okay with all this..?" He questioned, watching as the girl sighed thoughtfully before turning to Koda and giving him a pained smile. "I know how you feel about him.."
She nodded, "It's what'll make him happy."
Beep! Beep! Be-
Izuku slammed his fist onto his alarm, silencing it before he shot up from his bed, primed and ready for what was to come today. Today was the day that the greenette had planned to finally go and talk to the girl before he would lose his chance!
'Today's the day, I have to do this! You've got this, Izuku!' He silently hyped himself up as he rushed into the bathroom to get ready for the day. Seemed that not even his muscle fatigue would bother him today, he had a goal in mind and he was going to make sure he completed it!
The greenette rushed to get ready, doing his absolute best to look as presentable as possible. He was gonna make sure that he looked good, but not too good. He mainly wore a forest green v-neck tee with a white short sleeved button up, brown chino pants, and some white and green skate shoes. As for his accessories, he had on a few bracelets and the same gold necklace with a saturn pendant that he wore everyday.
Grabbing his bag, the greenette swiftly made his way out of his apartment, making sure not to be late as he pulled one of the granola bars that were inside of his bag and began eating it as he jogged down the stairs of his apartment complex and onto the main road that'd lead him to the station as it had many times before.
Unlike many of his other ventures to the station, he seemed to have more of a pep in his step, he didn't even bother to look at those around him that attempted to greet him as they usually did. Nothing was going to distract him, and he had to make sure that he made it to the station so that he could talk to that mysterious purple haired girl.
Making his way to his platform the greenette scanned the area for any sign of her. She never usually came this early, so when she wasn't in sight he didn't panic quite yet. He had some time to mentally prepare until she came through and he'd start phase one of whatever non-existent plan he had.
Seriously, now that he was thinking about it he was pretty much going into this thing gung-ho. He had no real idea how he'd initiate the conversation at all, he just had the plan to talk to the girl. But what could he talk about? Maybe some of the band merch he's seen her wear?
And what if she ended up not liking him? How was he going to ensure any sort of further communication with her? Was he just supposed to try and get her number or just talk to her and hope that she'd be there the next day?
What if she didn't show up at all? What if he had already missed his chance? What if she ended up not even liking guys to begin with? Sure he had some redeeming qualities, but would they be qualities she'd want in a guy? What if she just wanted to be friends? Not that he'd have a problem with that, but his own infatuation may just seem more obvious that way.
Sighing taking a deep breath the greenette attempted to calm his mind, turning his head to the train as it approached his platform. He could see the train making it's way over, yet his heartbeat would not calm. His mind was filled with his rapid inquiries, and his body felt sweaty and gross. He was nervous, but who in their right mind wouldn't be?
The train was here, slowly making a full stop, and yet upon closer inspection the girl still hadn't made her way to the platform. Where was she? Izuku had no real reason to worry, she usually showed up right as the train emptied out, but he was starting to grow both worried, and antsy.
Why wasn't she here yet? Was she late, or did… Did Izuku lose his chance? 'Where is she..? Surely she's around here, right?'
Scanning the crowd around him once more as people exited and entered the train, pushing past one another to make it to their respective destinations, yet he couldn't spot her at all.
The greenette let his head fall as he let out a breath. 'I missed my chance, didn't I..? She's not making it today…'
Sighing, the greenette finally began to make his way onto the train, watching as what appeared to be the last passenger boarded shortly after him and a notice over the speaker came on to inform the passengers to steer clear of the door so that they could close properly.
"Wait! Someone, please hold the door!" A voice shouted, alerting Izuku to the sound of rapid footsteps making their way towards the train. "Please..!"
Izuku suddenly outstretched an arm to hold open the train doors, turning towards the person attempting to run through with his eyes widened in surprise. It was her, the purple haired girl in all her glory. She was wearing a black sleeveless graphic tee that displayed a red soundwave, and gray jean shorts with some red chucks.
She zoomed past him with her earrings and other jewelry shining with the sunlight, a big black guitar case strapped to her back as she slipped in through the crack in the door and successfully made her way onto the train before she was late.
"Phew, thank god I made it…" The girl mumbled through labored breaths before turning to the greenette who had been her savior, and locked eyes with him as he looked her once over.
"U-Uh… H-Hey." He greeted awkwardly, bringing a shaky hand up to wave at her as his heart began to beat out of his chest and his face reddened out of embarrassment.
She smiled shakily with a blush to match his own, "H-Hey."
