IZON SHO
Chapter XXXIV
Thirty fourth session
.
From love I expected little else than solitude.
Today, you are here, and the road seems to be tinted in another color.
.
They were lying on the futon, InuYasha sideways on her, with his pants on his thighs; Kagome with her blouse at neck height. Their breathing was erratic after giving in to a moment of overwhelming passions that barely left them enough time to think or take off their clothes.
His breathing was heavy, still panting due to the effort and the powerful orgasm he'd just had. Her breathing was agitated, and she was trying to recover through deep inhalations, that may also help her calm the swirls on her skin.
"I'm sorry for being so short." She said suddenly, intertwining her fingers in his silvery mane.
InuYasha had to think a bit to find the right connection to make given the words and recent events.
"I'm sorry for having been such an idiot." He assured, as soon as he believed to understand she was referring to the message she'd sent him to his phone.
"I have to finish an urgent proofreading and I couldn't see the way to conciliate my job and being with you as I'd like." She confessed.
He rested his weight on his side, to look at her.
"Finish it, I'll ready some dinner and leave." He said then, trying to be a good... boyfriend?
She extended her had to caress his forehead, with the excuse of setting aside a lock of his hair.
"Would you mind staying even if I'm busy?" It was a strange request for her, yet she had to admit it felt good to have him close.
He caressed her chest in a gesture that was intimate rather than sexual, in the same way he would have caressed her cheek or hand.
"I don't mind." He muttered, before nearing one of her breasts and leaving a kiss on her nipple.
Kagome lowered her eyelids, knowing she was going through something different from excitement. There was a certain hint of worship in that gesture she yearned for, as much as she feared it.
"I'll keep going then." She announced, smiling a bit restless.
InuYasha made way for her to stand up. He'd clean himself and reaccommodate his clothes afterwards.
"Kagome." His voice called her attention. She looked at him. "Are you bleeding?"
The question made sense, given the stain on the futon where she'd laid just a few moments before. She looked between her legs, and the proof was evident.
"Well, it seems I'm on my period. I'm sorry." For a moment she didn't know how to feel, it was the first time she found herself in that situation with someone else present.
"Why are you apologizing?" The question caught her by surprise. She looked at him, then shook her head, as if not understanding.
"I'm going to the bathroom." She announced and closed herself inside that almost stark white room.
These kinds of matters usually were incredibly private for her, never had she found herself in a situation of having her period while being with a casual date. She knew her days, and when this would happen, so she simply would choose to refrain from such encounters. As she cleaned herself, so her mind thought, and yes, these were about those days and maybe being with InuYasha right now made it happen without warning. It's not as if it was something negative, for by now, at this point in her life she was beyond thinking about her period that way, yet she felt it was something that belonged only to her, and for InuYasha to share it so lightly, felt anomalous.
She decided the best would be to come out of the bathroom with complete normalcy, to roll the futon and throw it away. She laughed before her own childish thought. Taking a deep breath, she followed the usual process to this: to be clean, to use the menstrual cup and wait for the five days to pass.
Upon opening the door, she found InuYasha already in the kitchen, bringing out the food he'd brought. The truth was that she felt grateful, because often times she would forget she needed to eat, and so her mood would worsen until becoming sour, and then and only then she would think it may have something to do with her growing hunger.
She looked towards the futon, and say it no longer had a cover.
"I've taken it out." InuYasha mentioned from the kitchen, and only in that moment Kagome realized he had the cloth in his hands, half-way into the sink.
"What are you doing?" She felt surprised, a bit panicked, as she got close.
"Nothing for now. I don't know where you keep the cleaning soap." He commented.
"Well, it's in..." She interrupted herself. "Please, leave that there, I'll do it."
She neared the sink, and tried to take the cover off his hands, yet he refused by pulling them away from her. Her gaze took an intimidating glint then.
"I'll do it." He tried to be categoric.
"No, I'll... it's my... you know." It was absurd to feel this vulnerable.
"Yes, it's your blood, although in theory it's the futon's now." She began to feel strangely angry and grateful at the same time. Was this normal?
"Oh, stop now. Let me do this and..."
He gave her a sudden kiss that disconcerted her.
"Go to your work." He spoke. She tried to retort. "Work." He insisted. "I'll do this, as soon as I find the soap, and then we'll eat."
Kagome wanted to say something, yet she also knew her words would enter deaf ears before InuYasha's stubbornness, which seemed even higher than her own.
"Alright, but do it here." She accepted, then went to the bathroom, which was where the soap was, throwing a glance to the futon on the way, realizing it hadn't gotten dirty.
The food was warm and inside two bowls, each containing a ration of rice and grilled vegetables, perfectly seasoned with a sauce that had the right texture to be dipped in with each bite, without dripping when one placed it in their mouth. To drink, InuYasha had asked if she wanted green tea and jasmine, or just green tea, and she opted for the first out of an unconscious complement to the delicate situation.
She felt overwhelmed, and wasn't sure of where was that feeling pointing to. InuYasha was taking care of her in a way that was hard for her to accept. It came through the situation and gestures, like the fact that her clothes were now resting in one of the chairs, while the rack she usually used to hang them was now inside the bathroom with the futon's cover, perfectly clean.
Why was he doing this? Why wasn't he just content with being a man she could sleep with?
She had been independent for a long time, solitary if she wanted to be more specific; like a hermit even, she'd dare say.
"You like it?" He asked, seating on the floor in front of her, using the low, small table that doubled as desk for her work.
Yes, she liked it. She nodded to say so, avoiding the monosyllable because she was sure her voice would break, and her tears would flow out of sheer emotions if she were to voice it.
"I'm glad." He kept eating, and drinking his own tea.
"You don't have to bother preparing something so elaborated." She wanted to clarify. Maybe as an attempt to help lighten the restless sensation inside her.
"Oh well, we could say it's an occupational hazard." He smiled at her. "I don't know how to do it any other way, besides, I like to cook."
"Oh."
Her expression was the clear show of understanding of his words. That was InuYasha, he did things this way, and were perfect. She felt content to know it didn't mean for him an extra effort, although her mind attempted to boycott her heart almost immediately, telling her he was made for another sort of woman; one with curtains on her windows.
InuYasha's phones rang then, halting her self-destructive train of thought, and she felt instinctively grateful.
"I'm sorry." He apologized when he looked at the phone.
He stood up and her gaze followed him. The apartment was small, so he wouldn't be able to find privacy to answer unless he were to come out to the outside corridor, or entered the bathroom.
"Hi." She heard him answer. "No, it's alright, I can talk." She felt intrigued." "How are you? Everything alright?" The tone was kind and familiar. He looked at her sideways. "I don't know if I'll be able to, not this weekend. I may need to ask about it at my job." He looked away from her then. "Don't bother, we'll talk about it." He was by the kitchen's worktop, and was playing with a finger on the edge of a cup as he listened and nodded. Finally, he smiled and added, "I love you too. Talk to you later."
Her stomach turned in on itself then. It was the first time he heard him say such a thing, and it hurt her to think it wasn't to her. Who could it be?"
"It was my mother." He clarified as he turned to his seat.
"Oh, I see." She hoped her face didn't show her prior curiosity. "Something you may want to share?"
The question wasn't indiscreet, but rather adequate and one that showed her interest in knowing what was happening in his life. Kagome believed it a good question, yet even then she didn't get an immediate answer. She waited for him to do so.
"Well..." He seemed to hesitate. "She expects me to visit in about two weeks."
He seemed to have something else to say, although it could also be her own imagination. Even so, she remained silent for a bit more.
"It's my father's death anniversary, and she wants me to be there to pray at the cemetery, and to leave an offering at the temple near our house. I don't like to go, I feel quite depressed, although I've never told her that."
Now she was sure he'd said everything he had to say about the topic. She remained silent and nodded, after all she didn't need to have an opinion on the matter, and sometimes people only wanted someone to listen.
When they finished their dinner, InuYasha gathered everything despite Kagome's complaints, saying this was her apartment. He convinced her by saying next time she'd have to do it when they were in his. After that, he found a place on the futon with his back against the wall, as he watched an episode of a show he followed, while she kept typing on her laptop. From there he would steal glances at her, sporadically. Sometimes he'd see her bring her hands to her face, seemingly in frustration and as a way to free her the stress caused by what she was doing. He felt curious more than once, and wanted to ask what was wrong, yet he held back as to not interrupt her.
He checked the hour, it was well past eleven, so he should go to sleep if he wanted to be anywhere near rested for tomorrow's work. He watched the timeline of the episode he had on, and found there were only six minutes left, so he chose to finish it first, although he still stole a glance at Kagome before continuing; she was doing some strange gestures in the air, and he couldn't even begin to understand what she was trying to do. He saw her close her hands into fist and try to hit the low desk her laptop rested on, without ever doing so. In that moment she looked back to him.
"Can you believe how badly explained this is?" She started. He didn't know what she was talking about, so he didn't say anything. "I don't know how they can possibly think about publishing these people, while there are so many good authors out there that no one pays attention to. They must know someone in the editorial, that's for sure." She lifted her index, pointing at something. He'd already taken off his headphones. "But you didn't hear that from me."
"Don't worry." He smiled. "I won't tell your boss."
"Thank you." She smiled back.
"What's bothering you?" She wanted to help her get out of the loop she seemed stuck in.
"I wouldn't know where to start." She explained. "The author tries to explain how to tie..."
She stopped with that kind of silence that only appears when an idea fills her thoughts.
"I think I could ask for your help." She said then, and although InuYasha didn't know how he could, he accepted.
"Of course."
Kagome bit her lip in a clear sign of uncertainty and enjoyment mixed in.
"But I'd need to ask you to get naked." She said, her gaze on him while she bent her knee and took it to her chest, as if hoping she could hide her smile behind it.
"I thought today we wouldn't do those things." He kidded, knowing that rule was broken as soon as it had been mentioned.
"No I really can't skip that premise." She answered, her smile still on.
There is the writer. He thought.
He stood up and started to take off his shirt without any further explanation nor insistence.
"Well, what now?" He offered as soon as he began playing with the edge of his boxers.
He saw Kagome taking a deep breath, as covertly as possible, and let out the air before standing up and going to the clothes on the chair.
"Here, put on this one. I need to watch you do it." She handed him a long black cloth that was so thin you could see right through it.
"Put it on... how?" The question was fair, for the cloth was usually wore around the neck.
"Here, around all of that." She pointed beneath the waist with an open hand. "You've put on a fundoshi before, right?"
"That's right."
"Like that."
The dialogue had become particularly strange then, not really awkward, albeit there was something of that mixed in. Maybe what was really awkward was to be feeling awkward while talking about putting on a fundoshi, when they'd been naked together a bunch of times already.
He began to laugh.
"You offered your help." Kagome complained, her tone a bit whimsical.
"I did, that's true, however, this falls under the same trade as before, when I washed the dishes." He announced with a wide grin.
"You want me to wash the dishes in exchange?" She asked in genuine disbelief.
"No. I'm saying the exchange needs to me equivalent." He explained with a deeper voice, maybe as a way to leave a message naturally engraved in one's memory. "Dish for dish, fundoshi for fundoshi."
"Oh." She reacted after a brief pause. "Alright."
"Alright." He accepted.
Next, he placed the cloth on his shoulder and began to take off his boxers. Kagome stood in front of him, her arms crossed, seeking to keep an emotional distance from the sight. InuYasha took off the only piece of cloth he had on, and despite that nudity in front of another person was foreign to him, he noticed a certain hint of shame and felt his cheeks getting a shade redder. There was a subtle yet definite difference between being naked in front of someone you'd only planned to have sex with, and being naked in front of someone whose opinion, in many aspects, mattered to you. He took a deep breath and recalled that she too would do the same at some point, using that possibility to spur himself on.
He left one end of the cloth on his shoulder, and twisted the other end a bit to pass it through his legs, and so create the first movement, covering his testicles and penis. Then, he proceeded to place the twisted end on the right side of his hips, over the open cloth and his belly, to surround the hip from his left side and create a hold on the back side.
He heard Kagome clearing her throat.
"Slower. I don't want to miss a detail." She asked, and he looked at her. Her cheeks were rosy, despite the cooling night.
"It's the first time you ask me to go slower." He kidded, trying to get rid of some of the tension he was starting to feel. He saw her smile.
"Don't be cocky." Her smile resounded amidst her words. "Turn around, so I can see you better.
"The fundoshi?"
"Oh, shut up." Her smile still on.
That exchange of words gave him confidence to continue with his work, this time a bit calmer and without looking at her through the corner of his eyes, registering her reactions.
"Like this?" He asked, adjusting the cord around the one he'd just placed around his left side.
He heard her nod, and saw her take half a step closer.
He finished with that part of the labor, took the cloth still on his shoulder and passed it through his legs to twist it and tie it on his back; he was completely aware of the transparency of the cloth over his sex, and the way Kagome was filling her chest; deeply, letting the air out slowly as to calm her own sensations.
"Wait." she asked him, and stood half a meter away, watching the turns he'd done with the cloth. "So, you leave one end of the cloth on your shoulder, then you extend the other between your legs towards the back."
"That's right." He muttered, and she got a bit nearer and grazed the right side of his back with a hand.
"Then, from here." This time, it was the upper side of his rear. "You extend it forward." Her fingers touched his hips, and the start of his belly, as if tracing the skin right over the edge of the fundoshi. "Here, you hold the cloth." She stopped right at the central part of his belly, right below his navel and the start of the hair. Her tone of voice had become deeper, darker, and slower. The air she was releasing touched his stomach, and was warmer than the room's temperature. He himself could notice his own breathing's rhythm changing. "Then, you go to this side..."
She interrupted herself.
"It's so transparent." She almost moaned the words.
The first answer was given by his sex, moving with a certain restlessness.
"The cloth is quite thin." He accepted, as a second answer.
Kagome touched it with the back of her fingers, descending through the shape of his sex in rest until she reached the tip, moment in which it began to harden. She then pulled her hand way, and hid her face on InuYasha's chest.
"I can't now." Her confession was a clear lament. He smiled. "Will you come to sleep tomorrow?"
"To sleep?" He rubbed himself against her.
"My period. Remember?" She mentioned, not without a certain regret.
"And, what's the issue?" He inquired, casually.
Kagome embraced him, her arms making a full turn around him.
"You are crazy."
To be continued.
