Over time she began to feel her body and mind familiarize together into her soul, slowly learning the effects of all senses of what a human girl would possess. Of course, the nighttime would not last forever and she discovered that the sun started to rise for dawn. She cringes at the peak of light and slowly felt her power dim. It appeared to be faint as daytime came to her sights and quickly headed for shade but it was useless as the sun's presence was consuming the city.
Perhaps Iolanthe thought she would disappear but she remembered that she had a new experience with a human body and decided to take her mischievous acts on pause and try to discover what the city had to offer.
"The sun." She says softly with a tone.
With a swift movement, she jumped down below where her tail kept her balanced throughout the landing. It was a rough landing due to her immaturity in the management of her human body but she liked how it felt and couldn't wait what to do with it.
She wasn't used to the bright light of the sun gleaming over the city but it did not bother the other humans and just went along with it.
Her head turned and glanced at every interesting visual she could discern from the streets from the stores and, every passing human. The streets were filled with many things from vendors and stalls, people on the grounds, and debris. But the sight was enormous above her.
She stopped near a vendor that had caught her attention; music was coming from the stall and a man managed to grab her attention.
"Ma'am, miss! Would you like to buy
any music?"
Iolanthe faced the vendor and tilted her head like a dog with curiosity.
"Music?"
The man nodded in response, "Music yes! Good music to listen to. Here," he gave her a CD with an image of a woman with sepia tones, the woman is covering a part of her face with sleeved arms. Then he continued, "Debut album by famous Björk! Want to listen?"
"Listen... Yes." she decided to accept his proposal. The vendor proceeded to hand her a little case and a pair of headphones attached to it. Iolanthe stared at the odd contraption but quickly and kindly the man showed her how to properly use it.
Then the noises of the people, the cars, and their sounds all drifted away as a slow pleasant cacophony aroused her ears. It sounded like nature, peace seeping into her senses by only hearing.
Then it swiftly changed into a different tone within the song; a strange-sounding instrument with sudden drums.
In a forest pitch dark
Glowed the tiniest spark
The vocals sang in harmony with the strange-sounding drums but gave a pleasing impression to Iolanthe; never has she ever felt this feeling and experience. Her head bounced in tune and the vendor noticed her enjoyment within the music.
My name Isobel
Married to myself
My love Isobel
Living by herself
The tone became strong but these sudden words were attracting to Iolanthe that she was relishing it too much. Just when it was getting good the vendor removed the headphones off of her head. It was sudden and it wasn't what she wanted at all.
"I can tell you like it very much. CD is $16,99"
"CD... Is $16,99?" Iolanthe repeated.
"Yes, you have to buy it. Do you have music player? Like this?", he pointed at the music player and headphones and all this gathering behavior was slowly getting to her.
"No," She shook her head. The man sighed but kept a smile on his face while he grabbed a small plastic bag, "Here, I give you a free one with the CD. You look like pretty girl so I know you will enjoy."
This gratitude was strange but she accepted the gift. He probably thought she was lost and special. So, She took the small pink plastic bag and held it on tightly as it was accompanied by the CD, headphones, and music player. This was a nice addition to her human experience and she couldn't wait to try on the new given opportunities with music.
She walked away from the stall and took the CD out from the plastic bag examining the picture of the woman and flipped it on Its backside. The back cover had a strange set of symbols but somehow she could read the little texts underneath that were set with numbers. The first title enticed her as it started with, "Human Behaviour", perhaps it spoke to her like fate and maybe it'll communicate to her in a way.
So, somehow she managed to keep her control and felt an advancement throughout her persona of understanding the behaviors and understanding the environment of earth. Even though that she was just an empty dark star from above, she quickly formulated the entire essence of a human being. Already eager she decided to start listening to her new gifted set Walkman with the desire of listening to more of this "Björk" person.
With the click of a switch, she began the hour-long soundtrack where she began her knowledge of understanding human behavior.
Then she noticed that there was a place where you could learn many things about history science, hobbies, humanity, anatomy, etc. it was a place known as the library. The library was huge and possessed a large architectural design to it that was a bit different from the narrow and clear glass buildings in the city. It seems to be an occupied establishment where many humanoid civilians would go to. With the headphones completely immersed in her surroundings, she couldn't help but gawk at the grand interior of the library and could see the many shows that held little squares of knowledge. There were so many of them that Iolanthe could not fathom her starting point but she seemed to have lots of time on her hands with no true goal, yet.
Finally, she managed to grab enough books and laid them on an empty table, where the books were tossed messily.
There wasn't entirely a picky way of plucking these books but she grabbed a few from every aspect of the library from history, human anatomy, science, discovery, music, art, fiction, war, nature, English literature, animals, and a few books on space which was the most interesting considering it was made by humans who probably didn't completely grasp the entirety of the universe's space and time. It was something she knew about but didn't care much for.
Now reading, was something she was able to do in this body of the function and could quickly scan each page of text within a minute. For the entirety of the time, she was still listening to the debuted album of Björk, humming to the tunes of the vocals and pounding her feet to the beat.
It was starting to get some attention since the library was supposed to be an establishment of silence.
Then she felt the heat of someone's form close in on her, feeling fingers tap onto her shoulder making her slowly turn with immense disturbance to her concentration.
A woman was standing over her with glass orbs covering a part of her eyes. She looked intense with her arms resting on her hips.
"Miss, you can't be singing so loudly in the library, you must be quiet." The woman looked at the desk that was stacked with so many books that it caused even more annoyance to the encounter. Iolanthe could only stare blankly at the woman and back at her books, completely ignoring the pestering human.
The woman was growing frustrated and didn't want to let go of this situation. Taking a glimpse at her feet the old woman noticed Iolanthe wasn't wearing any footwear at all. This got her at her limit.
"Alright, you need to leave now."
The woman laid her hands on her and this caused a sudden jolt of vexation, but Iolanthe immediately noticed her surroundings. She could not act in violence with all eyes are set on her, she could decimate the whole library if she wanted to but the day was still burning bright and she didn't want to set panic in the world yet.
"Leave now." She pointed at the exit but Iolanthe's bizarre glowing silver eyes peered deep into the woman's gaze with tremendous hostility. She could not act right now but perhaps maybe later that night she will... She complied like a responsible little human and left the massive library where she still was occupied with her books. Iolanthe took in the appearance of the librarian and made sure her image was embedded in Iolanthe's mind for later on.
(this is a slow burn but we'll soon get to doc ock real soon)
